Clarise, how abt short trip like Bali? My SIL's sis went to Bali when she is 8 mths preggie. She didnt get any letter from her gynae. She was not stopped by the officer too. Her tummy was so big as if carrying twins!

when pregnant for 6mths airlines will not let u board to enter another country cos other country also scared later u purposefully go there to giv birth get citizenship

pink_sapphire, oh dear...i've booked my trip to Hong Kong in Jun! By then i will be 6 mths alrdy. Think i better call to ask the airline & also get my gynae's release letter as well.

opps correction... all airlines make up their own rules and regulations regarding pregnant women. Some do not restrict travel at all, no matter what stage of pregnancy a women is in, and others start to restrict at 7 months, although the majority restrict around 36 weeks

pink_sapphire, oh ok. Gave me a fright.

Coz' i was thinking my nephew's wife travel to & fro Hong Kong by SQ when she was preggie even till more than 7 mths & was not stopped too.

Hello Clarise,

I also did body massage when I was in Krabi. not an issue. the massage lady if experience enough would know which "point" not to press. I lay flat and they provide me with some support pillow to tilt me up at comfortable angle and instead on lying face down for back massage, I lay on my sides and they put a support pillow at my tummy and get me into some kind of fetus position to massage.

The massage was a welcome relief for me as we have to watch our posture all the time.

Oh Ya.. forgotten to ask around. Anybody already started taking bird nest? Or intending to? I can't remember which week to start taking it.

eino,
thanks, i'd just remind the therapist that i am pregnant and be careful!

i started taking birdnest once i entered 2nd trimester. i am taking both the normal and the concentrate.

I've started bird nest already :p cos hubby wants to eat too! LOL...

I checked out SQ's policy cos now hubby says he got a lot of points expiring and need to redeem. They don't allow travel above 36weeks. Travel between 28weeks and 36weeks need certification letter from gynae to state that the pregnancy is uncomplicated and that you are ok to fly.

I'm starting massage with my usual massage lady as soon as my time free up. Ask those who know how to do post-natal massage if they do prenatal too cos chances are they know how to do it properly.

nowadays like no time to sleep even haiz...

mirai,

I'm thinking of seeing my chiropractor too. Seems like my back issue is acting up again. Can feel this slight pain from lower back to back of knee on the left side.

I am thinking of buying the concentrate from Long ho ka. cos I do not how to prepare those need to self prepare type And I haven't started yet. today officially week 16.

eino, oh is it the one with the green cap? Think ard $180 each bottle? I will see the booth quite often at Compasspoint, but lately dun see them alrdy. Where u buying from?

Actually, these days bird nest not hard to prepare. I remember when I was young my mother got me to sit down with tweezers and clean the bird nest like mad. But now there's the pre-cleaned type. I soak in the cooking water till soft, add some rock sugar and steam at low heat. I put mine in a jar and then put into a normal pot with water, on top of those metal steam racks.

Or you can just put the bird nest and rock sugar and water into a small electric cooker, like those clay ones we use to make baby porridge.
happy.gif
If too thick when done, just add hot water. You can also add a bit of ginseng and red dates/wolfberry if you take it. How long depends on the type of bird nest you buy but I normally go by eye - looks like the texture in the bottles, it's done.

my dad will cook bird nest for me. i saw him cook before. super easy. just buy those pre-cleaned ones. soak them in water till soft. throw into the slow cooker, add water and turn to high heat and boil for 2-3hours. after that add rock sugar and turn to low heat and boil for another 2hours.

Ms blur,

Yes.. with green cap. they have one new outlet at Star vista ( at B. vista Mrt station). I called and first. if buy 3 bottles straight, get 10% off.

I am too lazy for those home made , even thou it's better cos you know what you are putting in. but think is more $$$. cos better grade than those bottle concentrate. if it's made by your family member is even better. Made with love.
Envy my cousin's MIL, make bird nest for her every weekend...

But I read up somewhere that or rather the promoter from LHK (can't remember), only a small percentage of the bird nest is being absorb by the body regardless of how much you eat.

So for convenient sake, i just take one teaspoon early in the morning and before sleep for my #1.

just can't remember which week to start.

Congrats to all that have know bb gender. Counting down to my nx visit in end apr.. Hehe..

Wow, I'm lazy to cook my own bird nest. I bought those bottled ones easier.. I started taking bird nest when i reach 2nd trimester. Not too if its too early. My sis told me she started in first trimester . I only take 2-3 bottles in a week.

Wenz, Oscar scan blood test don't need to fast. Enjoy your scan.

Morning mummies!
happy.gif

Wenz, you dun hav to fast for blood test. The other time i also didnt hear clearly what the nurses had told me as its very crowded & noisy in the clinic. On the day of the test, i just blur blur went. Hee..

Ann Chua, which brand did u buy? The one with 6 bottles in a box or the bigger bottle 'Zheng Zhong Ping' type? I saw some really cheap ones selling in Chinese Medical hall, think one box cost $20 or lesser, and there's 6 or 8 bottles inside.

Good morning all!

Eino, I've also heard the same thing, that bird nest is more effective when taken in very small amts and frequently. So one of my friends told me to make it super concentrated without rock sugar and put into a jar and refrigerate. Then take 1 tablesp every morning. But my family like the taste of hot birdnest LOL...

BTW, I have heard somewhere that too much birdnest during pregnancy may cause asthma or allergy in the baby in some rare cases. so moderation is key I guess...

weiwei, yes i read too abt taking too much birdnest will cause bb to have asthma. Think take in moderation will be ok, i was thinking ard twice a wk.

gerly26, may not be easy nw if wana find a permanent job in this condition, coz' the company might need to employ another part time to replace you during ur 4 mths ML. Maybe u can try part time job?

i'm already in my 16 weeks, every morning now i can wake up normally, wash up and do some chores before i eat my breakfast. last time i used to have to eat first thing in the morning (wake up super hungry and nauseous!)
but i still feel uncomfortable eating breakfast and after eating, sometimes i still vomit. this morning i felt normal, but when i reached my office, i vomited once i stepped out of my husband's car =( is this still considered having morning sickness?

for bird's nest, i try to eat everyday... as instructed by my mom hehe. she bought me the concentrate and she told me to finish one bottle in three days. sometimes i forget because there's so many things to eat! vits, fish oil, calcium, milk for pregnant women, fruits, bird's nest. all these i have to make mental note to eat everyday. i had a terrible/embarassing/depressing constipation that brought me to A&E during my first trimester so i no longer dare to skip my fruits.

Clarise, i vomited ytd too, but after i drank a cup of coffee. I used to have one cup of coffee every morning whenever i reach office, but after im preggie, first 1 mth plus i still drink until i totally dun feel like drinking anymore. So ytd was thinking after so long nv drink try again one cup. Who knows after finishing, immediately ran to the toilet! Its the same as Milo loh. Guess my bb dun like coffee & Milo.

Congrats to all who know their baby gender?

Can I do a little test verification here? I have one "pass down" formula from my aunty to predict the gender of the baby.

Can those mummies who already know the gender “back calculate” their cycle to see if is correct or accurate?

Lunar age of mother meaning if you are born in 1988, and you conceive your baby in 2012. Your lunar age should be 24 +1 = 25

Lunar month, you have to check the calendar. For my last “first day of menses” falls on Nov, so according to calendar is “lunar month tenth”.

Step (1)
49 (fixed #) + LM (lunar month of your LMP) = X

Step (2)
X – LA (Lunar age of mother for year at year conceived) + 19 (fixed #) = Odd / Even

Example:
Born in 1980, lunar age in 2012 = 33 years old (LA)
First day of last menses in 2012 = 21 Nov 2012 = lunar month 10 (LM)
Calculations:
49 + 10 (LM) = 59
59 – 33(LA) + 19 =45 ( Odd = Boy)

msblur, this morning i ate chocolate chewy junior. i also said my girl don't like chocolate!
my husband was asking me "i thought u love chocolates?" come to think of it, since i got pregnant, i didn't want to eat chocolates at all! interesting! everyday i want to eat thai food.

Clarise, yes...since i got pregnant, i cant eat sweets or chocolates! Find them too sweet for me & i will feel like puking. Only crave for salty, sour & spicy food. Hmm...

for me i can't eat sour plums also.. immediately want to puke..
will there really be a day when all these vomiting will be over? or it will still be happening throughout pregnancy? i was really expecting my 2nd tri to be much better..

oh and i want to share that i did my second prenatal pilates today. it's pretty relaxing after the class, though during the class i do get tired very quickly. i used to have so much energy, able to do an hour's aerobics class easily, able to pull and climb myself up the pole and do inverts etc.. now i feel so weak after 30 min of pilates..

ms blur, ya.. i took zheng zhong pin bird nest.. 6 big bottles.. dont like the test.. prefer those from EYS and New moon.. hahaha..

eino.. thanks for the interesting formula.. My result is odd number so hope is really boy. Even the gender chart shows is boy.. but haven't got any confirmation of gender from gynae yet. Coz my bb very shy dun want show us.. hahaha

for my #1, I back cal. So I got a boy ( True).

For #2, I got a gal through cal. ( I have not know my baby gender yet)

have you find out the gender yet through scan?

Hi Ann,

I notice that you sorted according to due date but something wrong with my browser, I can't insert rows, so I just added my info at the last row. Could you help to shift the data? thanks!

Hello Clarise, you are not alone. I also got a very very very bad constipation for my #1. Till doctor got to give me laxatives to stay at home to poo...

so for #2, i ate at least 2 portions of fruits, drink yakult every day & some yougurt every other day. become wiser le.. do not want to go through that horrible feeling again.

hello twenty seven, so really a boy? cos there are also some cons for this formula is that if your day of menses cross over to the next lunar month if you count 10 days from the actual date.

then it won't be accurate.

anyway, let's take it with a pinch of salt while waiting for the D day...

Clarise - Can share your constipation event?

I'm also badly constipated.. Like real bad...

2-3 weeks no poo... Take lactulose, oral and suppository dulcolax senna, fleet enema all no use...

Shit is too hard to come out... Worse is no urge or not a single feeling to do big business at all since week 6-7...

If i dont do anything about it, i think i can go on... Very dehydrated during MS and still having it now... just not as bad... but on some days i just lie on sofa whole day cos no energy and stomach feel awful..

Just started prune juice n prunes few days ago... but only 3 grape size poo poo comes out... very hard... what an embarrasing problem...

Hi fel,

Fish oil and flax oil works for me. Somehow the oil supplements lubricate my system. Maybe during pregnancy the baby takes a lot of the oil we consume or we are storing it for breastfeeding later..

Weiwei - i haven start taking multivitamin n fish oil.. buy liao.. but just haven eat... stopped my folic acid at 12 weeks... so sick of eating pills....

Terrible MS...

now its better.. but still strike me on and off... appetite still very poor....

Ferendipity, I take my prenatal Pilates with Breathe Pilates, they're located at Novena Medical Centre. Class is small, 4 or 5 persons and they use machine which i like!
happy.gif
today my class had only two mums including me, a lot of attention! I'm looking for another place to do Pilates or yoga, cos breathe Pilates only has classes on Monday Thursday and Saturday, I'm going Monday and Thursday, but I'm hoping to do more.

Fel, I don't really know how to describe my incident... It's roughly like this. I was having hard time moving bowels for two weeks but I still do every alternate day.. Hard stools though. So this one day I was pushing too hard and the poop got stuck
sad.gif
very embarrassing. I was stuck in the toilet for an hour. I calls my gynae and he told me to go to a&e immediately to get a fleet. The pain is indescribable. After that I suffered for another 4 days' pain.
