aspialle > for a peace of mind and to not to let baby suffer, why not bring him to the PD? apparently, according to the PD, the built up of phlegm is due to wind in the stomach (colic) plus regurgitation of milk..
as bb unable to expel the phlegm himself, it leads to bronchitis.

<font face="Comic Sans Ms">Hi everyone,

Hi all

My second baby died of undetected Congenital heart defects. As we've been away awhile, I'm unfamiliar with KKH health screenings for newborns. Do you know if KKH does Pulse oximetry screening for all newborns and especially for those with siblings with history of congenital heart defects? thx u.

Hi sweetbaby,

Sorry to hear about your loss.
I'm a congenital heart defect patient with pda and mitral valve prolapse. I deliver my ds in NUH. The gyeana did check the heart development during my pregnancy wk22, but I not sure if they check my son pulse after he born. I doubt there is any special test.

I think doctor will only listen to the baby heart beat, if there is no murmur sound, then they will not send for further check. Again, this is my assumption.

I was told by my mum that I was diagnosed around 3 months old, and go through surgery to fix the pda (they thought that is the only cause of the murmur sound at that time). After the surgery, the murmur sound still there, then only find out I have mitral valve prolapse. After being a mother, I finally understand how much my mother have gone through.

My bb block nose , was on saline drops for past days, saw his nostril is tiny....will be going for jab next week, wonder if its ok. I dun tink he is having any flu just that he cries a lot due to teething so the mucus stuck and block his nose

aspialle > I see.. Ya, really hard to juggle between household chores and a bb. Has your maid arrived?

I would suggest, wait till your bb fully recovered before going for the jab. Heard that these jabs are 'germs', i.e. we are injecting germs into our bb's body.

good that he sleeps early at night; 8pm not that late, i suppose?
good too that he sleeps through, as you too can have a good night sleep...

mine, still have to do night feedings - at least 3 times.

My baby just went for the ENT specialist hearing test yesterday.
Test results says that he has 80% hearing loss on his left ear.
Right ear is normal.
Very sad for my baby as he has to grow up with this defect.
None of mine nor husband family got problem with hearing.
Wonder how he will cope in the future.
There's nth much we can do to help.. We can only support &amp; love him more. He might need to wear a hearing aid when he is older.

Hi gals, anyone know if baby vaccination is done at different clinics, at the end how to get immunization cert? My eldest son had all vaccination done at polyclinic so no issue

Aspialle,
Each clinic or hospital is supposed to key into the MOH system for the vaccines given so that collectively the records at MOH is complete and can be printed out. So it's ok to switch doctor. My elder boy has not taken his MMR, and I intend to take it at pd rather than at KKH. As for your boy's jab, do wait till he 100% well before taking any immunisation.

Brandon mummy,
Hugz, take care. Don't think too much about it as it is beyond our control, instead try to focus on the positive and other simple blessings. Yes, must sayang him more!

My boy is now 5 mths, at 7.1kg, an average size bb

Hi mummy,

I'm thinking to start solid food coming weekend. Would like to know what should i give to my boy?

I bought healthy times cereal, but been told that it's better to start with porridge + vege.

It's so confusing.

brandon_mummy > focus on the good things! his right ear is normal! I guess he is pretty much ok in the future.. u mentioned that your baby might need hearing aid.. which means there is still chances of not needing the aid? Did the specialist mention on what are the available early interventions for your boy?

tnqhome > Hmm, heard from my PD, to start with cereal first.. He recommended me Frioscrem instead of Nestle celerac as the former is smoother..

Pd recommend cereal with bm first. So I'll follow tt when baby hits 6mths. Be giving happy bellies cereal as less sweet. I started my elder gal earlier at 5mths. But since my boy doing well now on jus milk I'll jus continue. He's 7.2kg at 4mths. First 3mths I tbf. Now givin some fm cos returning to work and very hard to pump so want him to get used to fm. But see him drink bottle while eyeing my neh neh abit heartpain. Haha.. Must be tinking y give me bottle fm when u have milk.

tnqhome, i think shld be start with cereals. cereals smoother. start with rice cereals
happy.gif
i prefer bland ones like bellamy or happy bellies. havent try healthy times before. i guess shld be bland too.

Xinyue, Frisocrem smells very nice
happy.gif
but i think its still sweeter than the organic ones i mentioned above. haha.

Cereal:
I gave #1 Healthy times as well. For didi will try Happy Bellies and Earth's Best too. Will not give Nestle Cerelac coz it is very sweet, think sugar is 3rd ingredient listed! Better to start w cereal rather than porridge coz it is more nutritious, and most come fortified, even organic ones. Porridge is made from white rice is only carbo. For first foods, better to give veg n fruits first before introducing meat coz protein more diff to digest.

Today is really a great shock to us. My hubby carried the baby
Accidentally bang against the metal rod of mosquito net. I almost went crazy....went Kkh to assess and luckily he is fine

Dear mummies,

I have a 5 month old boy and still exclusively breast feeding him. I am about to go back to work and very worried about his feeding when I am not around.

He has been totally refusing bottle since 2 months of age despite me changing different bottles and teats (medela, avent natural, nuk). At first, he will still cry when we give the bottle but nowadays he just plays around with the bottle teat using his tongue.

I have tried to go out physically and starving him to see if eventually he will take the bottle when he is hungry. He still did not take after 6 hours.

I even tried him on sippy cups but he refuses to suck on the spouts too. Not sure if he is too young for it.

Have thought of giving solids when I am at work as a solution but even then he will need to drink water right? And how to give water without a bottle?

Would appreciate mummies who experienced this problem to give some advice! Thanks!

jessickay > give him water through syringe? or spoon feed?
Initially, my boy was also playing around the bottle teat, used his tongue to push out the teat etc. I interchanged between pigeon and avent bottles, same effect. I did not starve him, but gave him lesser milk at each hour's interval. he took up to one hour just to finish 60ml or 2oz of milk.

After sometime, he took to the bottle! Now, he drinks 100ml in around 20min.

All these while, it was my mom who fed him. Prior to that, i breastfeed him exclusively. Now, I still latch him whenever i am home.

HTH

Just brought my boy for his second dose of 5in1 at polyclinic on Sat. Went for review of his neck control cos during his 3rd month check, he still cant hold his head yet. this month check again, he still fail again, even though he could hold up his head. doc tried to pull him up by his hands from lying position, he din wan to come up, head swayed behind.
sad.gif
the doc told us he refer us to KKH of further check.
initially my hb said there;s nothing to be worried abt since every babies developed different pace, but i m concerned on the what ifs.. haiz!
anyone encountered this before or any advice?
my boy dun like tummy time. we let him have tummy time, but he will cry, or just lie down and suck his arms, lick the bed. i can only let him practise when we carry him upright, he could lift up his head leh. how how?

Xinyue, u can get Bellamy, Healthy times from NTUC or cold storage. if its not at the cereals corner, try the organic shelves... Happy Bellies i got it from online sellers. u can get it at iherbs too.
