pfshi, the thing is my ILs are already looking aft the other 2 kids so the addition of my gal is not going to make a huge difference in terms of "freedom". But considering the jia yong + 200 I give, it's amost 1k already.

Julie, sounds same as mine leh. are we working in the "same company"? It's to bring the kids to sch on the first day of their sch. Only applies to kids who are in childcare (minus infant care) onwards. Limited to 1 day no matter how many kids u have.

Friends, I think hor my IL's situation mayb worse. Cos only my FIL works and my BIL/exSIL don't give them any money for taking care of the kids. So although they do not have HDB loan, it's like paying to bring up 2 kids all over again.

Chin, new maids are not easy to handle. It's the first time I am hiring one. So I got to adjust my own feelings and let her help me with my elder one. But I feel jealous when my gal like having fun w the new helper.

The only thing that makes me frustrated is my new helper (being a first time working in SG) is SOOOO not open to eating what we cook. I made egg mayo and tuna mayo over the weekend for a xmas potluck. I asked her to try just a small lump for taste and she keep shaking her head. How to expect her to cook nice food for us if she don't even taste it?! And the worst part is I hate picky eaters and she seems to be ONE! *ARGGGGHHHHH!*
 
Chin, oh I should share this with you also. I told my helper, don't use the dryer unless we need to dry the clothes urgently. So that day I went over to my neighbour's house to get her indon helper to do translation. So when I reminded her not to use dryer, she told my neighbour helper - she NEVER USE the dryer. I was like "oh I was dreaming? I saw with my eyes, she put the clothes in the dryer and used it. Hb saw oso lor". So when my neighbour helper asked again, then she say "I never use everyday.". *faints.
 
Vivian - maid is from Philipines..I thot since she can read and has a child, should be ok with basic common sense matters.

Julie - my second one is in childcare (he was in infant care when younger), he comes home around 5pm. So she just has to watch him a while...older boy already primary 2 next week.

Sometimes really no choice. I have no ILs in Singapore to help me, and my parents are also not in singapore most of the time. But obviously, I need to consider the CCTV seriously.
 
Vivian, my mil stories all in the old posts. Lol!! She is officially ban by hb to meet me since the last meet up n without hb, she ate without giving me. N it was just cake for herself n her sis n 2 mini bread for #1 for dinner. #1 shared one with me.

The only thing I hope is I do confinement during CNY, she dun bring whole gang here or I will open the water host n give water blessing. :p

Foodwise - yes, some maids are difficult. Really sometimes I wonder... do they really have so much luxury back home that they can be so picky?
My other maid does not eat bread other than Gardenia.

Maids... I always hear 三只手. My frds' hse all gold n nice items all gone. The other frd...Imagine branded shoes all gone leaving empty boxes & she needs those for overseas trips. Hear till I scare.
 
WAH! Sylvia - so KOK DOK lei ur mil! Only bread for kiddo is not good! Lucky you have hubby's support! I feel that is most important.
Anyway, my story with mil also not very much better... To date, she still doesn't know she has her first grandchild coming along, which is quite sad for her lah... But it is at her son's discretion if/when he want to inform her lei... I was just asking hubby if he even intends to invite his mum for our baby's full month celebration.

That I was against as she dun bath, dun change diaper,dun cook gd &amp; healthy food, dun cook confinement food, dun cook wat #1 eats, only love to dig my things n do inspection n then claim boredom. HB still insist that i wont be able to cope with 2 but adding a MIL, I lagi cant cope! LOL!!

So this no food dinner finally set the ban!! hw can give kid a small bread &amp; no dinner for preg woman?

Let's cross reference our symptoms! Will be fun. I'm also having discharge but clear lah. Braxton hicks everyday in the evenings. Just the other night had pain in my lower back and it actually brought back memories the difference btw bradton hicks and labour pains for me. BraxtOn hicks more like pulling apart muscles at nether region and lower abdomen, but labour pains include instense sharp pain radiating from lower back to the lower abdomen... I now rem how it starts from back... Ah... Not looking forward at all!

I dun think mine is Braxton hicks, more like bb too big and sleep on side, so that side with bb's stretching becomes painful. Morning usually left side top &amp; bottom of tummy pain.

As for my case, my hubby feels bad towards his mum, and is still thinking of fetching his mum to stay with us. I was actually ok with his mum, and she lived with us for a year. And I was ok doing all the chores at home, until I heard her calling me THAT WOMAN... Then I realised that I was the 3rd party in her relationship with her only son. Sigh... So I no entertain her after that le...

Hahaha!! never tot of stepmom. She even promised my dad that since my mum has passed away, she will be my mum n take 'good' care of me. So this is her good care!

When I told my dad what she did, he really fumed! if I nt preg, it's already nt right, more over I am heavily preg. But dad told me just avoid n dun keep in heart coz no good for myself.

So sometimes still own parents better.

Y like that?? so strange. people's kid nt kid meh? also other parent's kid mah.......

i suddenly rem... maid with kid do not mean they know how to take care of kid as some of them dun take care kid like wat we do.

I ever heard fm a taxi driver.... his son took poison n then hv to go hospital to wash stomach. He said heart pain but to me was why is there a bottle of poison in the 1st place? All harmful stuff hv to keep out of reach, isn't it.

then my neighbour's maid who is also her frd and she specially arrange her to come n take care of her kids.

She lock the younger kid age 1+ to the pram even at home. The kid still cant walk without support.
Then she always say this to the older kid " u dun follow me, later u DIE!" "u stay there, later u Die!" so I always hear her saying u die, u die u die.

think the kid dun die also curse till things will happen..............
 
Sylvia - I understand what you are saying...unfortunately, she represented to the agent and me that she can. And that she was the one taking care of her 2.5 year old son since birth. I am taking a risk of cos, but only saving grace is that I have another helper who has been with me for about 7 years (she took care of my older son from birth). Just that with number 3 coming, I need a back up - as it is not easy for my other helper.

Anyway, I will just "ren" a bit more till baby is out... and see how and what happens during my confinement and maternity leave. Have scheduled to speak to the agent tom...hh

Eh a bit off topic, but anyone knows where I can buy baby safe mattress at a good price (ie. cheaper than robinsons or kiddy palace normal price) currently? I'm not a kiddy palace member but I need the mattress for #2 now. There's some warehouse or distributor for babysafe right? TIA!

Mil issues,
I think no matter how cordial the relationship, we will never 100% get along with and tolerate them. Upbringing, expectations, even cleanliness levels can become sore points. Your own parents are always the best!

Symptoms,
I have lots of braxton hicks nowadays, milky white discharge (sorry if TMI!), pelvic pains esp when just getting up from bed. Hospital bag is ready but I keep telling bb to wait too! 5 more days. Dunno why my edd is middle of jan but I feel ready to pop anytime now.
 
Sylvia - she brought up my hubby and his sister herself, yes. My hubby is only SON. He is mummy's boy &amp; can do no wrong in her eyes, and in his eyes his mum is always right one. According to hubby, "my mum only calls u that because she is angry". Then I asked him:"so I am angry now, can I call her THAT WOMAN?" He speechless.
I was so shock and disappointed when I hear those words cos I never shortchanged her in anyway. I'm glad I heard it after just living together for one year though... At least now I know she doesn't like me, and never see me as family, but just THAT WOMAN...

If u have a gym/birthing ball, so sit on it whenever u can. It helps eases the pain. From my research, Gym ball exercise also helps to strengthen the pelvic muscles - and can help with delivery. I hope this helps.

Sylvia: actually quite sad for her lah - her most beloved son hardly sees her and talk to her because of THIS WOMAN. I actually did quite like her, and would fetch her places and go shopping with her, massage her and treated her like my mother... That's why the big reaction from me when I realised that despite of how I treated her, she will probably never look at me as part of her family, but a woman who took her son away. Sigh... Anyway, every household has stories to tell... Dont let me bore u with mine! Hahaha!

LittleDragonGirl, sounds like you pushed your body a little too hard, that's why fever? I read somewhere that if a preggy mom is sick, the baby in womb is just as sick. So please do take care! (Same goes for all of us out here!)

Aspialle, like you, I have been having hot flashes. The past two nights, full blasts ac also no use. But On some nights I feel cold like hell! According to babycenter.com, hot flashes will continue after delivery if we choose to breastfeed! (http://www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-normal-to-have-hot-flashes-during-pregnancy_3659303.bc) I guess that is why many pregnant women cut their hair real short because of pregnancy bah?

How many of you have already cut your hair real short? So many people warned me about the hair loss after giving birth (usually 4 months after giving birh), but since I'm not doing confinement and will be bathing etc, I decided to take a chance to keep it long - since it is a 50-50% chance that I may not experience hair loss. Heh!
 
Vivian: I'm nt cutting my hair too. Intend to tie it all up during confinement. Wanna keep long esp bil's wedding in Mar. Longer hair is easier for styling.

Originally I was with Dr Paul Tseng but the crowd at his clinic is killing. Even with appt, We waited for almost 3 hrs with each visit, not to mention about the parking problem in TMC. We also find that though he delivers in Mt A, his staff is not really encouraging. For detail scan, we requested at Mt A, when we informed that I will be delivering at Mt A too, his staff keep asking why why why????
Personally it individual preference and I like the personal touch that Mt A provides as compared to TMC as I find tt it is way too commercialised. However the staff has more than once informed that gynae is practising in TMC and may not be in time to rush to Mt A. Plus it is having reno, car park will be a problem etc etc...

I'm fine with Dec/ Jan baby so long baby is healthy. I won't be that bothered with schooling or feel sad if bb is born in Dec because I've carry bb for a good 10 month in tum tum.

I am also not cutting my hair short - haha short hair dun suit me wor! But I told my hairdresser not to layer too much to easier to tie up. Intend to still continue washing hair during confinement. Did purchase the lemongrass shower gel and ginger cream tho for use during confinement.

Hair coloring:
Any mummies intending to color hair during confinement, before CNY? I hope to color before going to take some pics w newborn #2 lei and the newborn pics I understand is best taken 2-3 weeks after EDD. hehe, my hubby says ok to color wor, at least he never object! Then prob will wanna do rebonding before the 4th mth when hair starts to drop and also before I return to work after ML.

There is currently a Groupon offer with Photobookmart. I did a photobook before with Photobook Singapore. But my friend feedback that Photobookmart software is much easier to use and also cheaper. Any feedback from mummies who may have tried either?

Sylvia, i heard my frens complain abt maids before too. One occasion, my fren was on mc at home, she wanted to feed her boy some fish oil or multivits, she opened the bottle, got a lemon smell. she asked her mum who was at home looking after her boy with the maid. Her mum said the smell wasnt like tat the previous day. then my fren opened another new bottle, and true enuff the smell is different as the bottle that was opened. then they realised the maid added hand detergent into the fish oil. Cant imagine if she werent at home that day and her boy had taken the fish oil!! Horrible!
Another fren said she just got a maid who had 4 children, she thot having one with kids will have maternal instincts and take good care of children.. now then she realised the maid totally no experience in taking care of children, cos all her children are not taken care by herself.. lol. so for those if u getting domestic helpers, really have to interview them properly...

Hair, luckily to say, i din experience hair loss for my previous confinement. just normal daily hair drop amount.. i had shoulder length hair, thot can tie up if hot, but i feel its kind of troublesome since will be lying down most of the time, so this time round, i had cut off my long hair.. intend to go and cut another round to even shorter for confinement, easier to maintain and no need to keep tying and take out if going to lie down. haha.. shorter hair oso can prevent hair loss, as the longer the hair, the hair is heavy therefore dropping more easily.

bbjoy : oic, i normally don't have to wait for 3hrs for my checkup with Dr Tseng. For eg, it only took me 15mins for the checkup when i went yesterday. The trick is to either book the morning slots or the last slot.

Yup I've a milder version of this. Not so bad till I can hear cracking but it definitely slows me down.

Insomnia,
I'm also having that. Sometimes I'm up from 3-5am staring at the ceiling. Don't dare to take the sleeping pills prescribed by gynae too often.
