Hi Mummies,

I am a bed resting mummy. Quietly has been following this thread.
Any mummies here that went for detailed scan in TMC can advise me on the charges?
I got no slot for my detailed scan and was told to go early to get a Q for the scan.
Anyone here has gd recommendation for CL? Please advise.

my detail scanning was a package i did together with the oscar test thou. im going for it this sat @ TMC. cause my gynae doesnt do it.
 
I will be going for my detailed scan at TMC next Sat. Heard tat during the detailed scan, u get to see the baby in 3D..is that true?

Is a saturday. I think it will be very crowded.
How early are you going?
Mine is on the 12 Mar. I have to go early so that i can hav the report ready to see the gynae on the same day.
 
hi ladies,

i jus went to TMC for detailed scan.. no 3D and in fact cannot see muchie...cos the screen do not face us except the nurse. i am looking forward to one separate screen that allows us to see the baby constantly..

For TMC 3D scan, you will have to pay separately to have this service...

Ling: For the price, I overheard it when I was there for my oscar test. My friend package might be the same as Denise Ho at $400++, since oscar is at $318++. It should be the price I said.

I joined the Q for my oscar test as well. It's really very crowded. I reached before 8.30am, there's already a few infront of me. But heng, I went up early, once I reached upstair, immediately is my turn because the ppl infront were not up yet. I left TMC at about 11.30am.
 
diamondfericia - yes you are right, i paid S$437.65 after the tax and all.

detailed scan what do they check for? something similar to Oscar test?

okie noted the timing. But when we called up the center, we were told tt they only start scanning at 10am-3.30pm.

Whatever it is, i think is better to report early.

Oh i went for my oscar scan at NUH and this is why i did not get the package.

Is this your no#1 baby? Who are you seeing in TMC?
 
In case TMC is fully book.. can try NUH.

My gynae send me to NUH for detail scan (20weeks) this FRI, not sure if it's the same scan as OSCAR.. I don't know about the charges yet - will update later this week..
 
Hi Ling, they told you the scan is only from 10am to 330pm?? hmmm but i got a slot for my detailed can on 05march at 415pm..

looks like i better go early and get myself registered first..
 
I thought detailed scan is 3D? Mine is on coming Thursday. My #1 was at $500. The scan includes checking brain, heart, kidney, all important organs if they r functioning well. Clipped lips can be detected too. At the end of the scan, you get a cd of the scan and the report.
 
Denise Ho: My doc told me oscar is check for down syndrome whereas detailed scan is more for like cleft lip & etc.

Ling: Am not too sure about the scanning, should be because they will ask you to go for breakfast and come back at 9.30am. Should be around the timing.

The oscar scan plus blood test is only $235 in NUH. I got a slot on 28 mar from my previous gynae. But my gynae told me is too late so i gonna drop e appt NUH n join e Q in TMC.

The price in NUH is also around 100 plus for detailed scan. But the oscar was e cheapest among all becoz it was inverted by NUH research group.
 
Ling: I will also be kiasu and go early on sat. The detailed scan is just another normal scan like oscar scan. I remembered I saw this 3D scan on TMC noticeboard. Have to pay separately for it.
 
Ling, yes 3D. They show you all the vital organs with red n blue colors to indicate the different blood flows. You can see ur baby in 3D clearer. They will explain to you in detail what they see. It takes around 1.5 hrs to complete. The person performing the 3D scan is a gynae. Guess I prefer this way.

Just a short intro, I'm expected to deliver a lil baby gal in early Jul. Hmmm.. should be one of the older or oldest mum around here.. i think.
Finally found a confinement lady after going through at least 15 recommendations and rejections.

Just a quick question...since this year dragon year, after CL scare, did you mummies go book spaces at hospitals already? Is it necessary?

For my first kid I just walked in. Not sure about this year... but I really hope to get back a single ward. Any comments?
 
lili gal: My gynae clinic will arrange the booking of hospital spaces nearer to the delivery date. I don't think it is necessary to book now. Even if you do, our choice (single, 2-bedded, etc) will be given depending on availability.
 
Joanne, I did my #1 at Mt E but this #2, I m having the 3D scan at Paragon. There r not many gynae having this 3D machine cos it is very expensive around Mt E area. Heard they can't even have a break-even after charging it for many years. The gynae bought it mostly is for their own personal interest.

Why do u say u r the Older or the oldest? Must be the most experience one here.
U had made so many calls in getting CL.
I m still taking my own sweet time.
I need gd one becoz i had bad experience with the first one.
I m not too sure hw to go about looking for e ideal one.
Do you hav any gd leftover? Pls recommend.

Doesn't mean that I am experienced in babyhood! Though I had a 2.5yr old boy already.

I have a list of CLs whom my friends recommended that I called recently but I was rejected by all as my EDD is early Jul. If yours is later in Jul, you can try them. I can pass the list to you if you need through PM.
 
Hi diamondfericia, I am taking them both currently! Took them in my previous pregnancy and had no issues.

Yoghurt is good for you! Yakult for digestive purposes since our bodies' digestive system kind of slowed down with pregnancy. Personal opinion.
 
lili_gal: Thank you!! As am taking yakult everyday then suddenly I think is it too much to take one bottle per day.

Because I experience some pain on the arc of the tummy. Was thinking whether I had too much yoghurt and yakult.

Hi Ling, I compile list at night ok? Not sure if I can find the whole 15 but should have a good list to start. Better start early cos the bookings are really going fast and furious. My boy is 30mths now.

Hi diamondfericia (can I just type diamond next time? ;))... hmmm... i don't take it everyday. If you suspect it's due to that, you might want to hold off for a while.

No problem at ur convenience.
So any idea you are expecting a gal or boy this round?
This is my 3rd pregnancy. I hav cervix incompetency so i went for my cervical stitch in wk 14. Now is on bed rest. I did the same for my 2nd baby after losing my 1st in week 18.
But tis round i hav low placenta so i m afraid i need to go thru c sect. I would seriously need a cl to help.
 
Fericia, i think is better to pillow on you back to make you feel more comfortable.
U sleep ok sides or flat on your bk?
 
Ling: Previously I lied on my side but after a few nights on my side, I lied on my back and I feel so comfortable. Will it be more comfortable if put a pillow to support our back?

Maybe when you are sitting upright now. Put a pillow at your back. To sleep with pillow at e back i dun need is advisable. It will ache after awhile.
I hav problem sleeping flat on my bk but is ok with the sides.
 
Hi Ling, you didn't have a CL for your gal? I had C-sect for the first one. It wasn't that bad. I could get up and walk about with no help and no painkillers after 3rd day. 2nd day, still need abit of help.

How long will your bed rest be?

Mine's a girl this time. Factory will close thereafter. (^-^)
 
Lili, thanks for ur list. I had a local cl for my first one but she is terrible.
Great to hear that you hav a pair.
I hav yet to know the a gender but in any case factory will be closed too. I need to bed rest till week 36 till e stitch is removed. Critical period is bet week 24-28.

Joanne, only after e first experience then i know abt it. It happened within a day or 2. As baby gets heavier the cervix length got shorten n it comes out. Normally for routine check up gynae would not check on cervix if nothing happen.
 
diamondfericia, I also continue to take yoghurt and Yakult but not everyday....2-3 times a week, perhaps u can replace with fresh milk instead?
 
sblbee: I took fresh milk everyday before I head to bed. I really like the taste of yakult. So nice but well, I decided to cut down to 3 bottles/week then to see whether the pain reduce.
 
Any mummies interested to get Clarin stretchmark oil or any stuffs? Am thinking should I get the oil. Am currently using johnson oil as I love the BB smell. LOL! Do you think it's enough? My sis's friend have 20% discount so see whether any mummies wanna get anything.
 
fericia, how much is the Clarin''s oil after discount? I'm using cream at the moment but finishing soon. Was about to visit Mothercare to see what's available.

what other discount your friend has? Heheheee...
 
lili_gal: My friend just bought the oil at $82, if it's 20%, should be about $65.60. How do you find the cream? I bought the start with 'Ecly', can't remember how to spell it, it's a green bottle and can be purchased from watson and guardian at $59.90. I dislikes the plant smell, so yucky. Bought it when I knew am pregnant but never apply. My friend said it works for her.

No other discount already.
 
By the way, Metro is havin 20% storewide discount this weekend. And Clarins give 20% outright discount, not in the form of vouchers like other cosmetic brands.
So u can consider heading down to Metro this weekend to enjoy the 20% discount if you are keen on getting the stretch mark oil
