Hi all,

My total weight gained for #1 (3.5kg girl at birth) was 19KG... so i agree that maybe those lighter mummies will gain more weight as my pre-preg weigh was 40KG... and #1 weighs 1.4KG at Week 28... so no worries to those mummies who think their little one might be overweight at week 28...

And when i compared #1 and current #2's weight at Week 20, #2 (boy) was even heavier than his elder sis... i cant imagine what will be #2's weight at birth man... heehee...

I also compared my weight gain as of week 24... #1 - i gained 10KG... #2 - i gained 11 KG...

ya... i ald gained 11KG... and i can really feel that my back isnt that strong ald... back aching like mad... and yet still need to carry my #1... faintz....
 


Geraldine, I'm also one of those lighter mummies, at 26 weeks, I gained 12kg already. Sometimes my calf feels damn heavy when walking lol..

What's your #2 weight now? Mine is 900gm at 26 weeks.
 
For weight gain, do u all experience getting 'fatter' ie more fleshy on the arms and legs. Or the weight gain mainly contributes to the tummy (water and bb)?
 
Rabbitz, my face, arms and buttocks are more fleshy and fuller, less so on legs, tummy is the most obvious!

I'm so happy! Just confirmed my confinement nanny with an agency. Finally one more thing done. As my grandma helped in my confinement for my #1, I didn't have any experience with them. Neither do I follow the confinement rules strictly for my #1.

Can I check a few things here:
1) what r the ang bao rates for te nanny before and after ther service?

2) I'm concern abt personal hygiene as I prefer to handle te baby myself. Will the confinement lady allow me to shower? For my #1, I showered the 2nd day I delivered
in hospital and secretly showered daily at midnight during my confinement after my grandma left my place.

3) I purchased a herbs package which they provide abt 28days of herbs for confinement use such as cooking, drinks and shower stuff. It cost $380. Is it cheap or is that the market rate??

Recently the baby's kicks r so strong...did u ladies have the same experience? I thought I only felt such kicks ard 7+months for my #1. ;)

i started buying my baby stuff! wow cannot stop the shopping lol..but mainly bought online cos i find things really pricey in sg..

now oldnavy.com having maternity and baby sale! I managed to stock up on baby clothes (all the way to 24 months) since its the first and i don't have much hand me downs too..better to buy bigger sizes as they may have growth spurts in between..for me, gynae already says bb is bigger at 20 wks so i might as well start with the 3-6 months as they outgrow very fast..

gauge: i was advised that 3 mths long pants can wear up to the newborn's chest

advice is not to buy too many NB sizes cos it can only be used in first month..and also do buy separates like those button/kimono tops and bottoms cos of the protruding belly button..plus if you have first month celebration, people will buy those pretty giftsets which your NB will have outgrown by then..

BTW, there are good deals in this forum's Bulk purchase thread..i got the washcloths, wet bags, romper extensions, changing mat etc

im prob left with the wipes, bottles, pump etc

rem to get your nasal aspirator, thermometer, cotton buds etc too

where and when is the JL sale?

just saw my baby yesterday. 29 weeks at 1.5kg! doctor say is average weight.

i wonder how heavy would my bb be when she is born..

I have a superb hyper and active baby! I know the moment he is awake! I'm wondering is it becase the "space" is too small for him...

I'm now at 25weeks... without touching, I can see the movement! Even my hub can see the baby moving...

That's the best V day gift!
 
Yes i agree! I feel the same too! Sometimes it can be painful jabs on my rib cage. Always the same spot. Sometimes will tap tap cervix area and press against the top of my tummy. Its so fun to see tummy move :D

But i always have urge to go toilet. Its quite irritating to have the strong urge but yet v little pee when i sit down.. After that i have the tense stretching feeling at my lower abs area. According to doc, its the braxton hicks contractions. Amy mummies feeling these false contractions already?

One question, is it necessary to prepare MI JIU (米酒) during confinement? If so, how many bottles shall we prep? My CL told me to stand by at least 4-5 bottles. My mama questioned if really need.

Also duno can drink yomeishu during confinement esp we are breast feeding?
 
Some aunties got make and sell. U gotta ask ur mum or mil. i am getting mine from my CL. One bottle $15. My friend told me she used 6 bottles during her confinement
 
I got mine from a relative... She gave me 40 bottles.. But heard from my mil should be able to finish it. 3 meals a day should use up a bottle? so a mth at least 30 bottles? Not very sure how many bottle is actually needed thou.

My CN do 'niang' the MI JIU (米酒), which no preservative is added. Very sweet!!
She will be bringing it to my place for my confinement.

As the wine need 30days to 'niang', pls let me know inadvance how many bottles you need.
Currently my CN has 10 bottles which are ready to be consume. The wines are store in a glass bottles approx. 750ml.
Collection at Pasir Ris St 72.
 
Actually, What is the difference between red n white rice wine?

And how to use them? Also, how many bottles do we need for confinement?

Red ones are called 'Hong Zao' Jiu.
You can use it to stew chicken. I know KKH Kopitiam do sell that (Hong Zao Mian Xian)
Whereas, White rice wine can use to fry vegetables are stew meat.
*The above are according to my CN*
But the 'Hong Zao' Jiu are more expensive as compare to the 'Mi Jiu' as the ingredients they use is abit different.

anyone knows what herbs / ingredients do we need to prepare for confinement?

giving birth is so ad hoc. how do we know when to prepare fish / meat / veggies and store in the fridge? cannot be ask ah lao to go buy when we discharge right?

for wat i know, we will need the following :
1) pig stomach (zhu du)
2) pork (Yao Rou)
3) fish
4) chicken

hmm.. maybe when i recall any more things den i'll let u know.. usually my mum does the marketing and will bring over to my place every weekend.
 
Ok, Let me show u the list which my CL ask me to prepare -

dang sheng, red dates, longan
fei qi, wolfberries, dangui
black dates, ginger, sesame oil

Any idea what is the english name for Dang Sheng and Fei Qi ah? Not very familar with these 2 items
 
momo baby, I thought should be best to buy fresh meat and fish from market, esp veggies cos cannot last long.. Ask hubby or CL to do the marketing?

Rice Wine

My MIL makes it. But.. I suspect I could be allergic to alcohol. Coz when I take too much, although it's in the cooking, I start to itch. I can't really cfm if it's the alcohol coz I don't drink normally.

My CN is using only MI JIU (米酒) for my confinement.
I personally consume 6 bottles and I also use DOM (3bottles) and black vinegar (6bottles) for the cooking for my 40days confinement.
MI JIU (米酒)can only consume 12days after your delivery. FYI
 
Hi VT, thanks... wa I didnt know can consume so much wine for cooking for just 1 month!

I think I will order 3 bottles of the red 米酒 to try... =)

Not to worry for the alcholic as it will evaporate after cooking. So its quite safe lah!!
DOM is a quite expensive.. if any of your friends or relatives coming back to SIN, can ask them to help you to get from airport (duty free)

jj_jj, hi5! this is my 1st time with Dr Fong. how abt u? switch to him during 1st trimester. so far so gd, like that he's pretty gentle and caring. his kids also going to same pri sch as my boy. :p
 
BabySean, this is my 1st pregnancy. All the while with him since start. Agree that he is gentle. Kinda always give us assurance so we have confidence with him.
 
Hi gals, I went for my 28wk checkup at TMC and bb weighs about 1.1kg

Though mine is a baby boy, I think he is one gentle baby..never really kick hard or strong, just now he was sleeping at the scan really soundly..

I ask the nurse how much cash we have to fork out now..she says prepare abt 3.5k, we choose the one-bedded at TMC..and at 32 wks, we have to pay the doc delivery of about 1.2k..

So exciting, our bbs are popping in 10 weeks time!

Littledotty, mine, boy also, nvr kick v hard or strong leh.. Only starting last week den can feel him moving much much more... Heheh am now 27 weeks...

my boy kicks me real hard when he is awake in the afternoon. Think he doesnt like me to work. hahaha. but when i am sleeping, he leaves me alone most of the time. I can only sleep on my back cos when i turned to either side, he will poke me to ask me to turn back up. lol..

My doc delivers at $2K =( so expensive to have a baby!
 
Hi Yip ... same same.. i can only sleep well on my back!! if i sleep at the side he will poke and kick mi...

Ya my doctor charge around that price ... if c-section will be even more expensive... Now jus hope bb will be good and move to the correct position... dun know y i was hoping that govt can increase the use of our CPF for childbirth haiz....
 


my hips and bikini line are aching. I cant bend down, squart, get up from the floor or lift my feet above knee level. Feel like a humpty-dumpty now, another 2 months to go where tummy be even bigger n heavier.... jia you
