(2011/10) Oct 2011

KWXY, could be still early. During my first pregnancy we also couldn't see anything from the scan during first visit cos too early. Went back 2 weeks later and tada! The heartbeat is clear and fast!

I still think the urine test kit is not reliable. Don't depend so much on it. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Rest well!!

alpinemist,

congrats! you very fertile, just got married and now pregnant! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] same for me when i had my girl. it was unplanned too and conceived during honeymoon. but anyway, it's happy news! i think you should tell your company asap if you are comfortable with it especially if your role at work is demanding and hard to find temp replacement while you are on maternity leave. i have friends who informed company when they are in 2nd tri but took so long to find replacement that the handover was very stressful and challenging for everyone. in the end, one of them even had to work from home right after delivery! rest well since you are spotting. but don't worry, Utrogestan usually does the job of protecting the pregnancy. i was on the same medication for about a month when spotting while having my #1.

kwxy,

your gynae didn't do vaginal scan? my #1 also can't see much and doc used vaginal scan and managed to spot sac. stay positive okay?

no worries Yan...

because if go too early, you will heard gynae said no bb, cannot see anything, no heartbeat, no sac... these are the phrases making us more freak out.. haha

Yan, 6 weeks onwards should b gd enough. Chance of seeing heartbeat is higher esp at 7-8 weeks.

KWXY, try to relax, stay calm and remain positive. If your gynae did an abdominal scan, it's hard 2c bb n heartbeat clearly. U may oso O late, juz like me. I counted 5 Oct but gynae's estimate is 7 Oct so prob I O 2 days later.

shan, there r some gd gynaes at TMC. Drs LC Cheng, Benjamin Tham, WK Tan, Caroline Khi, Joycelyn Wong r some of those recommended.

@bunnz thanks bunnz! Congrats to you too. Yes, new house, new addition to the family, definitely gotta stay positive! Mummies must all try our best to go through this pregnancy journey! :D

i just noticed my MC got the gynae's clinic logo which is EN Women's Clinic and also the nurse wrote 'threatened miscarriage' as the MC reason. Guess I can't hide from company. Err...on the bright side, maybe after they see my MC they give me less stress from now on..heeheee!

@KWXY Could be still early, I read that blood test would be a more accurate gauge of HCG. My ultrasound was not easy to find the embryo also because it was so tiny. But saw the gestational sack which is almost a sure sign of pregnancy. Took awhile to find the heartbeat. Hang in there until Wed / Thurs okie?

@Yan I think no harm calling the gynae and asking them when you should go down. Sometimes also, it's hard to get an appt slot for the day you want (e.g. Sat). Call and set ur hubby's heart at ease.

Mummies, doc did v scan for me. When I told him I was testing since Thursday until now, all faint line, he quickly did a blood test for me. He said the hcg blood count should go up by double every 2-3 days. When I raised my concern on chemical pregnancy, he said if the hcg is getting lower than no good. I will only take my blood test result tonight or tmr morning. Then do another one on Wednesday or Thursday to compare. From the scan, can only see that O from the right and my lining is thick.

While driving bk home, I cried non stop and it's so difficult not to think about it.

bunnz (bunnz)

Yup. Contains Vit C, A B6, B12, D, E, Folic Acid, Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Iron.

KWXY

Don't worry so much. Relax urself.

kwxy,

*hugs*! it will be okay. will be praying for you and your baby too. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

yan, agree w luv, go at 7-8 weeks, otherwise you'll feel a lot of anxiety when heartbeat is not detected. Sometimes 6 weeks is still too early to see anything besides the water sac. 6 week scan is good for those who have had ectopic pregnancy previously, just to make sure that the egg has implanted itself at the correct position.

I tested positive 3 days before menses using wondfo brand from amazon. Its super cheap and very sensitive, it can pick up HCG levels below 20, much better and economical than the store bought ones.

kwxy, take it easy, don't stress out, its true that perhaps your O date was later than you thought hence the low hcg level. In the worst case scenario that things do not work out, it really is better that the pregnancy does not progress rather than to find out later on that there are problems.

The pregnancy journey is one that is fraught non stop with anxiety. At our stage we're all wondering 'is my baby going to make it? will I get mc?' at 12 weeks its 'does my bb have Downs Syndrome? Will I keep the baby if test is positive??' later on its 'will the detailed scan at 22weeks show up any heart defects???', and further on 'is the umbilical cord going to wrap around my baby's neck????', 'is my baby going to be premature?????',' 'is my waterbag going to burst in public??????' the list of possible problems are all endless... stay calm and focus on the positive ok? [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi All

Just went out to buy folic acid and the blackmore pregancy multi-vitamins. I call up my gynae and he is on leave today. So the nurse advise me to take the blood test today and they will call me tomorrow to see if i need additional pills for pregnancy support. She mentioned they will do three test for me at one time. If i didnot remember wrong, (from my previous experience, they extract couple of test tube from me)..

Aww .... the thoughts of blood scare me

KWXY, if from scan can still see that you ovulated from the rigth ovary, it might mean you ovulated late this month and it's still early.

Cos during my first pregnancy when we couldn't find the baby, we also saw which ovary I ovulated from.

This time round, gynae was not able to see which ovary I ovulated from.

Your mood will also affect your pregnancy.

Relax and don't keep thinking about it.

Go watch TV or sleep. Don't keep thinking about it already.

Yan, my LMP is 14/1/2011...Cycle 32-35 days. Doc did said i might O late, our last BD was 4/2/2011...but i can see from his facial expression that he wanted me to prepare for the worst...i hate this!!

not gg to think so much and try to bed rest more these few days...

kwxy don't worry too much, if your last bd was only on 4/2 then it really might be too early to tell. you could have O on 6/2 so today is only 15 days post ovulation. Please rest well and try to take your mind off it. it may seem like a long time but test again 5 days later. My preg test was faint until 15dpo when the line got really strong. Since your cycle (up to 35 days) is longer than mine (which is exactly 28 days), you will have to wait slightly longer before testing again to get a stronger line. Do not compare yourself to other mommies ok? your cycle is longer. No point worrying about something that you have no control over.

shan, welcome [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

alpinemist, you are v lucky to have conceived so quickly. i had a long TTC journey ie 3 years for my #1.

KWXY, don't think abt worst case. think +ve your bb will grow grow grow! all the scans turn up normal, delivery is very smooth and your bb grows up to be a wonderful person!

I got more brown discharge out of the sudden. Now on the way to gynae. Hope everything will be fine :'( DH not in Spore luckily I got my mil.. she acc me go gynae. God bless this little one.

thank you dearies.

i was tested positive for O on the 1/2/2011...i dun think i O on 6/2...

dun worry for me mummies!...i will stay positive!!

More mummies are joining the thread and it is moving fast till I can't catch up:)

Welcome new mummies!

hamrachleia, I'm so sorry to hear abt your loss. Hope things are getting well on your side. God bless and you will strike

BFP soon!

Starry,

wow, ur #2 is just 1yr apart with ur #1. I don't dare to try for #2 till almost 2yrs as I have a silly thought - afraid my c-sec

wound might rupture. Haha.

I used babyplus on my #1 but I'm not sure whether is it due to babyplus. My bb when born was alert, adjust to routine well, sleep on own and cry less. I borrowed the device to my friend and her bb also cry less and sleep on her own.

Hello

I tested positive on 9 Feb, went to NUH for checkup on 16 Feb and we were able to see the sac and baby's heartbeat, the ultrascan indicated that the baby is 6 weeks.

The pregnancy is unplanned, we ROM 4-5 years back but only having the wedding dinner this Jul and now we are busy with re-scheduling the wedding and etc..

Congrats to all Mummies and mummies-to-be.

amici grapes,

yeah, they are gonna be almost exactly 1 year apart! will be tough but hubby and i feel up for it. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] same for my #1, she cries little, adjusts very well to routines, sleep on her own etc... not sure whether she alert at birth as i was on GA for csect and didn't ge tto see her till hours later. by then she was asleep and super hard to wake her up to nurse properly!

minidiary,

you can check out the WTS threads, some mummies wanna let go of their preloved sets. or wait for babyfair and buy brand new.

Kwxy,

don't care abt what expression ur gynae got. U must have faith in ur bb. Most impt is rest & sleep more to keep ur body strong. Worrying doesn't help. Keep u in prayers

jasmine,

I have brown spotting from the day I knew I'm preg. Stop & come again. I realized spotting comes back when I dun rest enough, walk alot like shopping and when agitated. To me it now become a normal thing. As long as not bright red, 70% women will have brown spotting during 1st trim. But do get some an ta yao from ur gynae. I'm still on it

KWXY - *hugs* you will be fine. I suddenly remember babydreamyqueen from TTC thread. She also had this ambiguous pregnant or not pregnant in the beginning. In the end, she made it through. So you will also make it through with a sticky, healthy pregnancy.

Winter bluey,

welcome & congrats. U holding ur dinner this July or last? If this July then it be a double blessing[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

minidiary,

u can go business thread too if u like first hand. Sometimes they do advertise there

Hi Mummies,

The result is out.

The blood tested HCG positive for pregnancy but at the very very low side.

At 4 weeks, HCG must be 40miu - 4480miu. I have 70miu. Doc told me that it might be early but still need to monitor closely.

I need to go to Mount A for another blood test on the 24th Feb (Thurs), morning and the HCG must be above than today's reading. Then i need to see doc again on the 2nd March to see if he can see anything.

Dr Hii and nurses at Dr Hii Women's Clinic had been very encouring towards me...they know i kan jiong for the result, the nurse took a cab down from Yishu to Mount A lab to get the HCG tested.

Now is the waiting part...worse than 2WW...im keeping myself occupied by making dumplings and cooking porridge for myself.

Hoping this pregnancy is a sticky one!!

Will keep you in prayers Kwxy.

Alpinemist : just be sure when moving house that time..do not be around when the movers come. when they are shifting things to and fro to your new house.

Let all the shifting be settled, esp the bed to be put nicely then you go.

ya sometimes it really is too early to see much in the scan. for the sake of your baby don't worry too much ok? all the best

babyplus - I did not use this product, I tend to be a skeptic. This product has not been proven to work, so do consider carefully before deciding to buy. Singing, reading rhymes and Mozart might have a better calming effect on the baby. The babyplus is actually quite loud and I found it annoying, don't know about how the other mommies who tried it feel about the sound?

My girl was sleeping 7 hour nights from 2 weeks old, had regular nap routines, was very calm and alert when she was born. Sometimes these traits may just be due to the personality of baby. I did sing / hum / listen to music quite a lot when preg ( always in a good mood, I was a happy pregger). Maybe my good mood rubbed on to baby? I believe keeping calm, happy and relaxed throughout my pregnancy likely resulted in a calm and happy baby later on, and the attitude of mummy and daddy have a greater effect than external stimulus when in utero.

Yup...keeping myself calm and watching tv now...and will drink some milk and go for a short nap [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

RE: BabyPlus

I did not use it for my #1 (that was 4+yrs ago).

But I did read to him daily, sing songs daily, sayang and chat with him daily while he was still inside me. I also played classical music to him daily (I play the cello and was still playing during pregnancy).

I really think it depends on each child's temprement. My boy was a very easy-going infant.

Slept through the night at 3 weeks old. Does not cry unnecessarily. No colic, no juandice, no health problems. Loves routine and adjusted very well.

But as he grew older, the horns started to come out. HAHAHA! Now, he's bouncing off the walls, playing non-stop, talking non-stop and irritating me everyday. :p

My frend just delivered in Jan, she used BabyPlus religiously. But her girl is a high-need baby. Cry all the time, need people to carry/rock all the time, etc. Cannot adjust to routine and even the CL commented that she's tough to look after.

I think it boils down more to how much time you spend interacting with your unborn child and how happy you are during your pregnancy plus the baby's temprement.

But if budget permits for the BabyPlus, then I guess it's no harm?

KWXY (kwxy), ur LMP, date of O, menses cycle exactly the same as me! But I tested 6 days positive before menses due.. I think we are still early in this stage, so dont worry about it..

I am going for my gynae checkup this friday at ACJ Women's clinic, Dr Caroline Khi.. This is my 2nd baby

hi all october mummies, it's good to be following this thread, and knowing we are not alone in this journey. i so agree that the problems are endless, but i am really beginning to learn to take one day at a time and be thankful for all the little things! it is good to let your colleagues know early in the pregnancy as they are more understanding. i have to stand long hours during my work so letting my boss know i am in the first tri and sometimes will get giddy spells means i can take short breaks to sit down which helps! also, am sure all have some symptoms of pregnancy or another. i get my morning sickness really bad when i am hungry so i realised i have to take some food every 2 hours!! the only worry is excessive weight gain as i am supposed to be one of my best friend's maid of honour in less than 2 weeks and i hope i can still fit my dress!

thanks for everyone for sharing your unique experiences and anxieties!

am on night shift but like what you all said, must take it easy and take enough rest breaks! i think sometimes stress is in the mind!

dramaqueenie, luvagape, starrymommy

Thanks for your encouragement.

I think as a mum, we tend to worry quite alot. Haha...

luvagape

I did not expect to have 3rd kid so fast as I'm BF my boy and menses came back not long. Last time to have 2nd kid, I tried like almost 9mths before getting one. Haha...

KWXY

Don't worry too much. God will bless you and your baby.

Mummies

Does anyone still BF your kid? My boy now still TBF. Not too sure if I should continue. One hand, I wish to but the other hand, worry that it might cause harm to the unborn.

Hi, sorry to intrude, have a recommendation to make.

My confinement nanny (Aunty Irene) is reliable and patient with the baby, and easy to get along with. She cooks mee suah with tasty meat in soup every morning for breakfast, and two dishes and a nutritious soup for lunch and dinner. She takes the initiative to prepare food and wash all the dishes, responds immediately to baby's cries, and wakes up readily in the night whenever needed. Whenever I place my pump parts in the basin, it's always clean and steralised by the time I next need to use it.

She advises, but does not insist on her methods. She is currently working for me till mid-March 2011.

She has been booked up to Sept 2011, which testifies to her popularity arising from good recommendations from other clients who have experienced her service.

She is available for assignments from Oct 2011. You can call 81486751 or her Malaysia number, +60168029823.

prettymums, i'm also still bf my 22mo boy tho it's only once or twice daily. i don't intend to suddenly wean as it's emotionally not gd for me and bb.

sometimes i felt abit of minor contractions and get really worried. What if miscarriage? But till now no spotting and bb is doing well according to gynae. Maybe it's the folic acid and calcium pills i took that help.

hamrachleia, so sorry to hear abt your loss.. Tk care and recover well so tt u will be stronger for the next one.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Minidiary, u lookg for me?? Sorry, my weekends are packed with activities tt I've got no time to visit SMH..
