Hi Kyra and # 2!

Hehe...glad there are dogs owner around! I have 2 cocker spaniels and they behave really "manja" all the time and they too sleep in the same room as me...Cos i've wanted to train the baby to sleep in a different room right from the start thus my dogs will still be sleeping with me even when the baby comes...My colleagues says i'm crazy..haha..

I think it s good to train bb to sleep in separate rooms from the parents. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] we are doing the same .

its really not impossible...my frens had 2 kids and both sleep on their own as early as 2 months! of cos the parents had to sacrifice a little..making more trips to the baby's room thru the night..most ppl whom i know have their baby sleeping with them is so that it'll be more convenient, but its difficult to move them out when they grow up...

my hubby is in semi conductor industry he is a technical manager there

Dear Sept MTBs,

Just to say Hello to all. i'm new here. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] but have been following up with all your daily postings. Currently am in my 10th week, bb due in 15 Sept.

I have a question: How would i know if the facial products contain Retinol A (if the ingredients are not printed on the product and i have thrown the instruction boxes away. Which are the safer products to use?

Hihi Sing Yee,

Read online and found that retinol can exist in the following form:

Differin (adapelene)

Retin-A, Renova (tretinoin)

Retinoic acid

Retinol

Retinyl linoleate

Retinyl palmitate

Tazorac and avage (Tazarotene)

Think most anti ageing products contains some form of retinol. You may want to email the sales office for the ingredient listing for the product you're using? I did that with Estee Lauder and they simply copy and paste the ingredient list for me...

Sing Yee, try searching the brand/product name online [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Kelly & Bunnz, I prefer baby sleeping with us cos I breastfeed. And it's easier to breastfeed at night with baby with us. I sleep while breastfeeding :p

And we don't have confinement lady who will help us with the baby at night [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] & I prefer that my maid rests at night cos she has a lot of work to do in the day.

My boy stopped latching at 1yo, then he moved into his own room without any problems :D

All: im nt into pets im adrenaline junkie [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] like sky diving bungee jumpin ... Battlestar Galactica is open in universal studios after the technical glitch ws fixed but cant go now[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Prenra, I used to love extreme sports but after I had my boy, I'm so terrified! I brought my boy to USS and he loved it! Refused to go home -_-"

I tried the skywalk in Macau and the wind was so strong, the guide had to hold me else I was almost blown off!

#2 yea they hv a lot of rides in US i hv been to the universal studios in LA ... but the best was sky diving in wanaka and bungee jumpin from kwataru bridge in Queensland .. i dun noe whether ill give up on the sports later but stoppin joggin itself ws really tough for me now im like waiting for the day wen i can put on my shoes n run

Penra! Wanna try sky diving and bungee jump too! But haven had the chance yet.. I hope i'll still wanna do them after. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Prenra, actually if you have been exercising regularly, my gynae says it's ok to continue, just don't strain yourself.

During my first pregnancy, I still continued with jogging and 1 hour daily walks with my dog.

Hopefully this pregnancy I will be able find the time to swim :D

Daddysbao, I also wanted to try after I had my boy but dunno why, I keep thinking if something happens to me, what's going to happen to my boy. I don't trust that my hubby can do a good job in bringing him up alone. So I hesitate, then undecided, then end up, don't dare to do it anymore.

Even my driving style changed. My dad used to call me horror racer. Now, he says I'm the safest driver on earth. hahaha!! And I've not been driving since I knew I was preggie cos I realised my reaction is slower...

daddysbao (daddysbao) : yea u shud its so much fun its like ecstatic your hormones are at the peak [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

#2: yea i hv read tat too but my mil n my hubby both are very orthodox especially my mil they will nt be happy if i do tat n i dun wana upset em

my hubby went to tat extent tat he put a note in my joggin shoes sayin tat "R u sure u wanna do this im watching: hahhahaha i ws so moved by tat and i understand how he feels so n he noes tat im a bit fanatic wen it comes to runnin ill go anytime late at nite early mornings wen he is asleep

Your hubby is so cute to put that note!

Maybe can try swimming (gentler) in 2nd tri. My gynae encourage exercise cos it's really good for natural delivery plus the recovery after that.

My boy was out within 3 pushes and my gynae credits it to me exercising throughout pregnancy.

It's very good for us! But go during off peak timing so it won't be crowded [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] I like swimming during weekday evenings or early mornings [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hb is more westernized. prefers baby to be on their own right from the start .sayin trainin bb to be more independent.

#2 : i still cont to drive..i forgot to ask gynae. shd be ok right? but a bit more tame these days. just that sometimes i forget to slow even more during humps..esp the thin metal ones

But my gynae says strictly no joggin or cycling or even yoga in first trimester. only swimmin and walking allowed.

Prenra : Hb deals with the end product .think something like distributors . hope i answered your qn. better no joggin for now. your hb is so sweet.

#2 : still can cont with one hand the number of pushes!! claps!

btw can we cut hair during first trim?

hehe daddysbao: stomach big can wear bikini :p

i went swimmin last week..20mins max. with frog style plus walked a little plus doing some gentle stretching exercises .

#2 - What breed is your dog and how old is she now? I have 3 shihtzu and 1 mongrel, aged 9 to 11 this year. I cant bear to give them up, especially at such old age. And what kind of values am I imparting to the child? Mummy gave up my beloved pets because of you? =/

On tuition - AMAZING! 55 students?! I had around 15 after A levels, and that already gave me a good income of close to 4K as a 18yo. Dropped all in my final year in NUS.

On pets - Hello Kelly! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

My dogs enjoy roaming the whole house now, except the toilets and they sleep in our bedroom (not on our bed but their own doggie beds). So I think it might be easier to train the child in time to come. Haha! To sleep in his/her own room and fence off a play-area for him/her. Maybe in first few months, I'll sleep in separate room to feed at night. I think some will think we are crazy but I choose to believe that kids are highly adaptable. If I change my dogs' lifestyle now, I'm depriving them. If I start to give my kid certain boundaries now, he/she wont feel the pinch :p We have kept fishes, hamsters, love birds and terrapins before as well. But I didnt feel much towards the small animals, ended up it was hb taking care of them. Been wanting an angora rabbit but hb objected...

MZ - Thats really a coincidence! At first I was abit affected that my EDD will be earlier (in Lunar 7th month), but I've came round that. After all the initial scares, I only hope for a healthy happy child, regardless of gender/birth month.

Simbaobao - It's ok. Perhaps we will have a chance to meet next time should there be any mummies/babies gathering. BTW, which gynae are you seeing? I havent heard alot of DS tests being done at NUH, most of my friends go to TMC.

bunnz - Wow! So you confirming your CL soon? Again I was thinking of waiting till 3rd month, not due to superstitions but really worried about instability (I'm still on weekly jabs + utrogestan). I'm also turning 32 [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

kyle: i am seeing Dr wong at bt gombak. He had 2 place to go... either tmc / nuh.. since am in the west.. NUH is definately nearer for us to go.

Kyra : high five! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] just go with the feel of wanting to settle asap. if not, it's always at the back of my mind. Plus any later, I have to settle for anyone that's avail.

I'll be going to TMC for the oscar test too. DS test just doesnt sound nice

Bunnz, Driving should be ok but I find I'm very forgetful (forget to signal, forget to check blind spot), so it makes me feel that I shouldn't be driving for everyone's safety!

Daddysbao, I normally do breaststroke and some stretching. Now, have to do walking cos play with my son too!

Kyra, mine's a mongrel. <3 mongrels :D It'll be hard to rehome them cos of their age. Read up more about pets and kids. You'll find that there's more benefits than you think.

Also, try to look for a few pet sitters/dog walkers around your area in case you need help with your dogs after delivery.

Honestly, my dog was bathed by me before delivery. We brought her to Sentosa to swim every weekend.

After delivery, I pay for a fellow dog lover to bathe and walk her. I even paid for doggie excursions where they bring them to large open spaces or the beach to run/swim and play with other dogs.

BTW, my boy knows the limit with my dog. He'll disturb and irritate my dog but he knows when to stop. And he also knows that he's not suppose to feed the dog without permission (I'm quite anal about my dog's diet cos she has skin allergies).

bunnz (bunnz); #2 on the way ) (1dog1rabbit); daddysbao (daddysbao); kylekyra (kyra):wow this thread is good [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] i hv put faces to all your names in my mind hopefully wen i see you the face in my mind and in reality matches or ill be shocked ..... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I'm becoming more "chicken" as I age. Used to enjoy rides in theme parks - Genting, Gold Coast, California etc. Even if I had to go up alone, I would.

But since last year, I found myself hesitating in USS (Singapore) and at Lotte World/Everland (Korea). Haha! Maybe I didnt know I was already pregnant but somehow I felt scared. But still I went horse-riding, snow skiing and hot spring in Dec, when I was already 3-4 weeks, maybe just cannot take heights =X

Am not a very active person but I'm thinking of doing some light exercises from 2nd tri. Perhaps yoga or aqua-aerobics. Still thinking. Now I do wish for a healthier lifestyle. Luckily managed to quit smoking and drinking after finding out, surprisingly I dont miss the cigarettes much. I miss the white wine & champagne though =X

bunnz - I'm still driving. Gynae told me not to walk/squat too much. Cos I had 1-2 episodes of fainting spells after feeding my dogs. He said probably I bent too fast. And I think gravity pulls. I just cut my hair 2 weeks ago, before CNY.

Kyra, must be careful cos when you get up too fast, you may fall. My boy helps to feed the dog now, so I don't have to do that :p

Aqua-aerobics is good. But hard to find classes nearby. I know SK has aqua aerobics classes and the instructor herself was pregnant when we saw her teaching the class. Might join her class this time [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Previously I had to go all the way to YMCA cos they were once of the rare few places that had prenatal aqua aerobics class!

i love driving, plus hb can never get his directions right, so it's safer if i drive [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

i still dun have a car yet, and am only driving my dad's car when i go back home. but guess my current option is to get a van/car for transport use in the future...

Bunnz and #2: dun dare to wear bikini la, never did try that b4. hahaha. but maybe shall see if i can psycho hb to go soak in the swimming pool after work [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

If you are shy about bikini, can get maternity swimwear [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

We only bought our car when my boy was 1yo. Cos before that either my dad/mum drove us around or my hubs will use company van. Now my hubs still prefer the company van, so the car's mine to use when I like :D

Now with #2 coming, we are thinking of changing to a 7 seater next yr. But car prices are killer now...

yeah! Have to agree... doubt i can afford a car at the moment, so have to settle for a van, unless i can get super good rates somehow somewhere...

ooh, aqua aerobics at sk, sounds good [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

that's nearby! how was the rates when u went previously?

KKH has prenatal aqua aerobics too! I nearly went for the prenatal aqua aerobics at KKH when I had my #1, but due to the H1N1 that time, they cancelled all the lessons.. not sure if now still have..

i dun drive my hubby says i dun need to drive jus tk a cab where ever i wana go or he will drive me where i wana go... but i drive on KL high ways [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] and wif in exxon premises wen required ... i need to brush up on my drivin skills actually since i dun drive often i had enrolled for a refresher course though hb ws nt very happy but did nt go after enrolling wen i came to noe i ws preg but i wud luv to drive

#2 : yes swimming i hv already tot of swimming later but will wait n watch

i dun smoke but drink occasionally

Daddysbao... for van need to have company to purchase...

My hubs is thinking of getting a mini bus since we can register it under my company but need an additional vocational license to drive it...

Price wise is abt the same as the 7 seater we are looking at now...

PinkieDot, KKH is so far from my house... plus my mum dun like me to go hospital for no rhyme or reason during pregnancy... she's worried about me catching a virus from hospital...

Even now my hubs has slight flu, my mum ask him to sleep in living room so I won't be affected...

PinkieDot, I heard Dr Chen's (she's the female gynae in Punggol right?) fees are rather exp... and heard from my neighbour that she's quite pro C-section... Your #1 was with her?

Hello Mummies,

Jus went back to work... Gosh... so many things to do once I got back... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Also, I realised my hands have become more sweaty esp today.... I also feel very tired nowadays....

3rd visit to gynae this Friday... Hope everything is ok...

PinkieDot (pinkiemie) : wont it be nice to hv an excel spread sheet as an attachment so tat its easy to sort as well and btw mine & #2's name is missin [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi, im a end aug mtb (not sure if will become a sep mtb), hope u dun mind me joining this thread.

must we join a prenatal aqua aerobics class, or any aqua aerobics class will do? jus notify e instructor that we are preggy...?

Flowerie, best to join prenatal aqua aerobics class cos some of the exercises for normal classes may not be suitable. Unless the instructor is ok with you in the normal class, she will just highlight what you can and can't do [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Prena - Wahaha! Are you imagining me struggling to hold 4 dogs and 1 baby? :p

#2 - Thats so sweet of your boy! Do you all talk to your babies? I dont know why, I cant bring myself to do it. But Ive been talking to my dogs. And recently I keep telling them - Sorry if Ive neglected you, jiejie is really tired these days. Please be good and healthy. Next time didi/meimei can play and feed you! I cant wait to let them meet :p

Pinkie - Wow! Thanks for the informative table. I'm with Dr Lui Pao Shun, should be delivering in Mt A.

On driving - Got my licence at age 21 but I absolutely hate driving. Prefer to be a passenger anytime. Used to have free usage to dad's car as he had another vehicle. Hb used to drive a panel van as he had a registered sideline. I refused to drive that as it was a manual van. We just changed to a station-wagon last August, as we need the space to transport the dogs. Now that it is an auto car, I still dont quite enjoy driving. How did I know I'm pregnant? Drove to work myself when hb went reservist in Jan and I felt like puking all the way (never had motion sickness), so I decided to do a self-test :p

#2>> yup, Dr Chen is the female gynae in punggol.. my #1 was with her.. she is pro induction.. her fees are rather high, but the most impt thing is im comfy with her, and so is my hubby.. thot of saving money for my #2, but cant coz I still feel more at ease with her.. hahahaha

kylekyra (kyra) : yes [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] plus a bottle of wine hahahhahah :p

i got my license converted to sg license the moment i came to sg wif in 3 mnths so i had to give only one theory test. luckily didnt hv to go thru the long process of gettin license in sg

Kyra, er... so far the only thing I told this baby is... PLEASE BE A GIRL!!! hahahaha!!!

I talk to my dog all the time! You have to let your dogs get used to kids, some dogs just can't get along with kids. Mine was 'trained' by my numerous nieces and nephews (my cousin's kids). So she's alright with kids.

Pinkie, at first we wanted female gynae. But after asking around, we decided to try Dr Woo at PP. Though he's a male gynae, we feel very comfy with him :D Imagine, he can spend 30 minutes chatting with us every visit :D

#2>> my friend is with Dr Woo too, she finds him very aimicable.. The most impt thing is that you feel comfy with your gynae.. heehee.. coz he is the one to go through the 9 months plus birth journey one leh! heehee..

The only female gynae in Punggol is Dr Chen.. went to her through a recommendation from a fren who had her 2 kids with her too..

Im actually a Tampinesian now.. gg to be a Punggolian in a few months time.. I din even go and see any gynaes in Tampines.. Seen one in Bedok but not comfy with her, so I just stick to Dr Chen! hehe

which part of Punggol are you at?

Today's topics on dogs and driving.

Me - love dog but never has a chance to own one. Tried to adopt from SPCA several times but never succeed. My only consolation is my little hamster, but he is such an old man now.

Got my driving licence in 2004 but never use it. Tried to drive a few times but think is too stressful to drive in Sg roads. So hubby is my chauffeur now. If he is not in Sg, then the car is left alone until he is back. hee hee....

This thread is moving so FAST!! I took like 2 hrs to go through all the post, of cos at my own pace.

Haha.. I wonder what's the next topic on. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] It's interesting that from the conversations we had, Prenra has started to give a face to some of the names here.. It'll be interesting to see all of you someday.
