My gynae said my baby is on the small side, only on the 10th percentile. I'm 29 wks, and baby weighed 1.1kg.



Would like the advice of mummies what is the average weight our babies should be weighing now? And how to help baby gain more?

Eh mine also around that size during 29 weeks and my gynae said is good (it's bellow average but he said actually better - lesser complication)

thanks for reassurance, but my gynae told me that if baby cont to be so small, likely need to come out early for extra feeds cos it may mean my placenta is maxed out in providing nutrients to her. any idea how i can 'pump up' my placenta??? she prefers me to carry to at least 38 wks which also is the time my first two children came out. but i'm hoping that this little gal won't be too small.

my gynae actually told me that it's better to come out 1-2 weeks earlier cuz lesser complications and lesser trauma to the vagina lol very opposite opinion...

Hello qiuen,

appreciate that you update the table. I am having a boy.

Went to see gynae last Tue and baby is 1.4kg at 29 wks and 2 days.

My sis-in-law bro's wife just delivered their son 1 month ago at week 38 and the baby is 2.5kg. then my other long distance relative also gave birth about 2 weeks ago. Baby girl is 2.8kg.

My ex-collegue just gave birth last week 1 day before the EDD at 40 weeks but baby is only 2.79kg.

I realised that the babies nowadays quite smalll, all less then 3kg.

My elder girl was 2.83kg when I gave birth to her at week 37 and my younger girl was 3.3kg when I gave birth to her at week 40.

I thought the last 2 weeks is quite crucial for the baby to gain weight. that is when they will gain fat. My younger girl has chubby cheeks when she was out and she was so much easier to carry and look after, sucking is strong as well.

not sure how true that is but I heard eating durians can help. since it's durian season, maybe you can have some but not too excessive because it's sweet.

Thanks for the tip! I ahve been gorging down durians actually, haha. Also cos I haven't gained alot. Since the durians wolfing, I have put on 2 kgs like in a two weeks, yes they are very effective for weight gain, but I wish teh weight goes to the baby. TOm seeing my gy nae, so I shall know where the weight goes, haha.



I am hoping that my baby grows bigger, all my kids born 38 weeks and both weighed 2.6kg. My 18month girl now only 9.2kg....I never have the chance of showing off chubby babies, haha....but thankfully they are healthy children

I had been to my usual gynae appt yesterday. My Utlrasound shown that my placenta is covering my cervix area.( Placenta Previa). I'm currently in my 31 weeks. Gynae mentioned my placenta will have to move up & asked me to monitor for any vaginal bleeding. Does anyone have any experience on this? Kind to share?

Baby cry for many reasons. Are you a 1st time mummy? There are some website that teach you how to see the shape of baby mouth when they cry and the pitch of the crying as well. BTW, I saw a new product on mypaper that day. Its call Whycry mini. It can detect the baby's crying frequecy and light up reason on why the baby cry. Mayb you can buy that and use.
