(2010/07) July 2010 MTB

Eliss,

pm u the store name. Not allowed to post here.

It's a good carrier. Very comfy too. Imagine my 62 yr old mum also used it

Hi all mummies who is on ebm bottles, when your baby is about 3 weeks old, how often do you feed? My bb is crying for feeding every 2 hrs but my sis keep insisting that I should feed every 3 hrs.. Not sure what is appropriate...

keer13: baby is growing, we should not stop them from drinking.. if baby is crying every 2 hours for milk, then let baby drink! It might be a growth spurt. Babies going through growth spurt.. every hourly also ask for milk..

Keer 13, my bb is at day 14 now.. also asking for milk every 2 hours or 2 1/2 hours or sometimes 3.

I don't follow the 3-hour feed STRICTLY, but i do look at the clock + parental assessment, and decide whether bb really needs to be fed or not. (following Gary Ezzo's method from Babywise)

vivi, oh man...... i sterelize dunno how many times already!! so don't need ah? just the lid will do hor? but what's the purpose of sterilizing the lid and not the cup..... puzzled T_T

My god... This CL of mine really jia lat. Like to rush n do things. see me not slp ask me eat earlier etc. I got maid so she no need wash my cloths just tk cr BB n wash BB cloths.

Then ar, always feed my BB after shit etc BB open mouth say he hungry, later puke milk than say need apply ru yi oil. think she testing my BB.

Just now tell me he shit n urine so hungry n keep crying ask me how much milk to give. I say dun give too much cuz an hr ago i just BF him. She than gimme a face n touch BB stomach say very flat u touch u touch.. hinting me feed normal amt 70ml. wat can i say? dun ask me if u alrdy want to do wat u wan lor. sigh! Headache sia~

ergo carriers - have to purchase online yar? Reliable or not? how long will it take to arrive upon purchase?

Eliss,

think there is a store. Maybe serene can share where she got it. I got mine in bp 3 yrs back.

I saw that store having a booth at expo 2 mths back. Got my booster seat from them then

Suntan: Not sure.. didn;t really go research properly.. Normally i see design first than see features! Haha.. must wear nice looking than consider BB comfortability! :p

Irene: Babies on EBM easier to feed right? Just feed from bottle??

I latch baby at home but when outside I bring a bottle of breastmilk. I tried to latch when outside but its too much of a struggle to latch him correctly while trying to protect my modesty!!

Hi Jaclyn, yup it is easier to feed from the bottle for EBM. Especially when my boy can take as long as an hour before he latches properly. But when you feed your bb outside with bottle EBM, how do u ensure that it is fresh? As in what do you do with the bottle of EBM after you bring it out from the fridge to bring it for feeding when outside? By right to ensure that it is fresh, we should keep it cold so can store in those storage bag with ice pack. But how do you heat it up for bb to drink when outside?

irene,

to heat it up, can bring ur own thermo flask. Then pour the hot water on the cap (which can be used as cup) then warm the bottle from there.

sun tan,

basically you choose the colours/patterns/materials (organic or not) for the ergo carriers.

A basic one costs under $200..

I saw from the website I quoted there's a ergo carrier with baby infant insert at $220.

Sigh,,, My CL ar throw away my 40ml EBM.. like easy to pump lor...

Told her ytd one all must use tdy. Then she keep ask me BF.. than i should store in fridge cuz night time she lazy go down she make formula milk de lor.. than night she buay tahan BB cry sometime i wake she ask me BF BB miss me than pass me BF she go slp.

My mom say this CL jia lat. When hubby and mom not ard go downstair watch tv ask me call her mobile if bb cry. Never even ask can watch TV or not. Next time confinement not gonna find her back to do.

Hi All,

I have been a silent reader since I got preggy with #2.. haven't had much time to write regularly cos was trying to juggle with #1 kid who is currently 17+ mths old now. I gave birth to a gal on 27/7. Hope to chat with you ladies more..

bbbliss (bbbliss) : I can totally understand what you are going thru. My #1, son, didn't latch on when he was a baby. Each time I brought him to my breast, he'd scream and cry and will suckle and spit out my nipples after a while. In the end, I resorted to pumping and bottle feeding him whatever EMB i can express. It made me very depressed then cos I felt as if my son rejected me..

With bb #2, my gal.. she was slightly more patient. She'd latch on but I know she is impatient cos of the slow flow. It doesn't help that I have short nipples.. so, she'd latch for 5 mins and then keep crying.. In the end, I tried and tried till I also gave up lah.. Not that I don't wanta try, but I felt that it was so stressful. In the end, I feed her with EBM from the bottle.

Any of you here will be left on your own to manage baby after CL leaves? I will be handling bb alone and I am quite fearful. My baby also has her cranky moments and wants to be carried all the time.

We don't have a maid and will be managing 2 kids on our own(son who is going to be 18 mths soon) and nb who is about 2 weeks old.

Need all the support and encouragement to pull through this...

suntan: hmm i think my thermo flask cup not big enough for the avent bottle eh.. that day bring bb out for PD check up, i just pump and bring the milk out cuz can keep for 4 hours in room temperature rite?

i think i will just feed FM if go outside, bring thermo flask with hot water, and the FM powder.

Intimacy with Hubby:

Hi mummies, just want to ask, when can we start to get intimate with hubby? After the stitches heal? And how do we know that the stitches heal?? or when bleeding ends? And bleeding will only stop after 4-6 weeks right?

Ergo- I got mine from smh. My sis just bought it at orchard. Will check with her when she bk from Bangkok. Think she bought from e 1st few years at paragon

vivi: aiya.. i go sterilise le lor.. nvm. haha. next time buy bag store.. cheaper n no need sterilise. can bag put in freezer?

I have question about storing of breastmilk:

i would like to store BM in the freezer, I already have some BM in the fridge (different batch, same temperature), so i just mix different batches of BM and pour them into a milk storage bag?

vivi, yup i am going to continue sterilizing it until it's wear and tear! Anyway i read some threads, lots of mummies have been using the VIA cups and sterilize more than 4 times, it's perfectly fine.. discard when it's out of shape la!

GT, welcome to this thread!! Nothing wrong with giving baby EBM, i am doing so too.. but sometimes i let her latch on still, for bonding and fun time.. so far ok, she doesn't reject..

Giving ebm outside-put ebm in cooler bag with ice pack in it. When using, pour e desire amt in e milk bottle n warm it by pourin hot water in a cup of water n feed when e desire tempt is reach. Tats my way of doing . Jts Nia

This time siao Liao . My boy has been zzz since 8am till now . 2nite Sure chamz liao. We spent e whole day outside n e noisy environment doesn't seem to hv an effect on him [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Vivi, same here... When my bb wants to sleep, no matter how noisy outside, she still can sleep so soundly. But when she doesn't want to sleep, no matter how we coax her also no use.

vivi

wow! your baby can sleep for so long! my baby's record was 5 hours and i thot that was long! hehe. baby can sleep thru loud noises is good, then won't easily be woken up

Tracey

i do the same as Eliss but i will also talk to baby to tell her that i'm heating the milk, to ask her for 5 mins and sometimes gives her the pacifier to buy some time. so far, she's co-operative - seems to understand (or maybe that's my imagination LOL). if i take longer, she'll cry like someone's murdering her

Shann

some ppl pantang lor. for me, i'm cool. when my baby finishes her milk, i'll compliment her and when she does something naughty, like refusing to finish her milk, knowing she'll cry for the balance later, i'll reprimand her

teats & bottles

i'm using Avent. i also tried medela teat (that came with the freestyle pump) but seems to be getting softer after every sterilising. Avent can still hold its shape

Julie

i usually hum to my baby - Brahm's lullaby. or you can make it up. all baby wants to hear is actually our voice. just make it as calm and soothing as possible [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] that day i made up a lullaby based on Humpty Dumpty. keke

ceres

wah! what kind of CL is that? i find that these days, CLs are quite brazen

sarong sling

any reviews on moms in minds' sarong sling? am thinking of getting one

end of confinement

phew! finally, it's over. so nice to be able to wear shorts and have the fan blowing at me. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

had full month dinner with family and close frens yesterday. gave them a box of macarons & packed red eggs in paper bags which I got from Daiso. i really lurve Daiso - cheap & nice [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

can consider macarons - very lovely to look. i'm getting gobi's cakes for my colleagues. dunno whether they're good or not but looks nice

cheerymum,

same here. you can say my baby is kaypoh - she likes to be surrounded by noises and can sleep thru

Rachel,

what kind of rashes? so far my baby has heat rash but it comes and goes, so dun get too worried. i dun apply anything. just make sure when it's hot, let baby wear lighter clothings. just remember that when adults feel hot, so do babies. when it's too hot, i just let my baby wear those top with lots of holes and diaper only

ica,

i'm using MIM sling....for infant it's good but when bb 6mths i bought the japanese X-sling type....easier coz my boi moves alot so it's easier to handle him w that n now he's 19mos i used back the sling esp when i'm preg n he wans mi to carry him....will lighten the weight if nid to carry him for long time....can used till quite big

Suika,

thanks! will go look see at the MIM sling. thot of getting it so to free up my hands, as well as my mom's. but do you find it a strain on your shoulders since it's one side bearing the weight?

ica,

can b quite tiring....but i'm not sure if ur mum know how to use anot....coz she might not know how to tighten up the thing

Jolyn: Im using that food warmer.. got a chart there for us to see. If take out from fridge, heat for 17 mins on 40degrees or 6 mins on 70degrees. However the chart says that it is better to heat on 40degrees so as not to destroy too much nutrients in the milk. I normally hit for 15 mins or so.. cos i think 17 mins abit too warm~

Sun_tan & vivi: thanks for the info. Seems like quite a number of things to bring when bringing bb out next time =)

Ceres: OMG! How can u CL throw away ur EBM!!! If anyone throw away my milk I will definitely scold the person and face black black for dun know how many days. Our EBM is so….precious loh.

GT: don’t be so stress. It is ok to give EBM. It is still BM after all. Sometimes when I really can’t latch my bb, we also give EBM or even top up with FM when necessary. I already find it tough handling a newborn and bet it must be even tougher handling a toddler and a bb at the same time. Jia you! If really too stressful, you might wanna consider putting ur son in childcare since he is already 18 months old.

Shann: Yup, I also mix different batches into the same storage bag/bottle. The time to follow would be the time of the earliest batch.

Vivi: my son also been sleeping a lot today. After every feed today he just sleep. But now after the feed at 9pm, he has been wide awake. Think he is not going to sleep until the wee hours liao. So far his record is 6 hours of sleep.

Jaclyn: I use the warmer till i so fed up. Cos it takes too long to warm up. By then my boy already screaming so hard. Hahaha.. N i always test the milk, it doesnt seems to be warm.

Ica,

ya it comes n go. His neck n hand got it. Hmmm. Elderlys wants me to make bb wear long sleeves long pants. But at least my mum allows me to on the fan. My in laws worst still, keep nagging and say bb feels cold don't on the fan. Argh.

How old is ur bb? Can let him wear those hole top. So gd.

irene: I read that we can keep warmed up breastmilk for 4 hours. Room temperature breastmilk can be given to baby no problem. So when I go out, I will warm up a bottle of milk and keep it inside those bag that can keep milk warm. Then if never use after 4 hrs, i will toss away.

The 4-4-4 rules apply.. 4mths in freezer, 4 days in refrigerator, 4 hours room temperature. So if you take it out of the freezer into the fridge.. it can last 4 days. Then from the fridge if u take out, it can last 4 hrs outside. ALthough alot of websites say different .. like some say 6 mths for freezer and some say 8 days for fridge etc.. I just go along with the 4-4-4 rule to play safe. They say as long as the breast milk has no foul taste/smell, its safe la~

jolyn, i m using avent food warmer and according to the instruction it only take 5 min to warm. think the water temp for heating is about 80 degrees. if you can't wait for 17 mins on 40 degrees as per what jaclyn mentioned for pigeon warmer, then maybe you can consider using 5/6 mins on 70 degrees setting. I think it should be fine as I've been heating my EBM using the ~80degrees all these while.

Jolyn, i am using the pigeon milk warmer too, CL used the 70 degrees, yea ard 5-6 minutes. Usually when it's feeding time - bb asking for milk, then we warm the milk. Don't want bb to wait for 17 minutes.. cry dunno till wat haha..
