Pillow,
when I just bf my bb on one side, the other side that is full sure feel uncomfy, but it will not continue to produce more bm at the meantime, cos full liao mah, and body receives msg not to produce more, so i just got to bf bb that side on the next feed. So far quite ok, not much engorged, probably becos body is used to it when I only bf one side for every feed and then do switching of the sides to bf.
RE: confinement
I think I am the most bo chap and 'disobedient' mommy after reading all of ur postings. I shower and wash my hair every single day during my confinement ever since I was home from hosp. I did not use any herbs at all, I just shower using my bathroom water heater shower. But then I blow my hair dry str after bathing. I engaged my CL for 8 weeks and so I am still taking confinement food now after 1 month le but not so strict one lah. My ginger and sesame oil intake is not alot. I hate longan, so I told my CL at the beginning that I do not want to have longan in my red dates tea. I dislike the tea to be too sweet too, in fact I prefer very bland one. So I told her not to add any mi4 zao3(honey dates?) and less red dates and wolfberries. The Dan Sheng and bei qi also not too much so that the whole pot of tea is not too concentrated since I am drinking it like normal plain water.
I on 2 electric standing fans inside my bedroom and also aircon, but of course the fans are either rotating or facing up. I take my meals with a standing face blowing too! I dont like to sweat like crazy after eating, cos I need to feel dry n comfy when bfg my bb anytime. I dont take any alcohol or wine in my food. I stand up and drink water at times when my CL told me not too. I told my CL my own preferences and she also ok w it since I look very alert and fresh still, dont look in pain or pale and xin ku. I even taught my CL some knowledge of bfg and also the food to take note when we eat during confinement and explain to her why I dont accept the logic and rationale of some of the confinement food she said I shouldnt eat, such as no vege if bb got tummy wind cos vege is liang. That is nonsense to me, I only agree that some vege such as cabbages and onions may cause food allergy that is inducing wind in some bbs who are more sensitve. So I explained to her how our body function and somehow she understands and not offended at all. We get along well still so far. She told me onions is very impt ingredients in confinement food as it reduces wind in our body, I told her no, onions is wind-inducing and thats why we tend to fart a lot when we eat onions. The logic is same as drining coke. It is carbonated water, but then some pple still drink coke when they feel bloated, cos coke may help us to burp and the wind inside our body is being burped out. But then some pple may get worsened bloatedness if their body dont respond the same way after drinking coke.
Then my bb cries very fiercely, my CL also sees her so poor thing want to carry her, but she dare not, cos she knows I dont want my bb to get used to this habit. So I must still look calm and cool to comfort her somemore! I must say it is alright n ok, my bb is execising her lungs! FAINT... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] Anyway, I think I am feeling even better this time confinement than my 1st confinement last yr when I blindly followed the rules and feeling so depressed and upset and pek chek with all the post natal depression feeling too.
I dont care about what pple said, saying that I will kanna pain here n there when old. I just make sure I dont shower for too long, dont catch chill, dry my hair fast, eat the food I am ok with, reject totally if my body feel weird with any confinement food or ingredients. I am sure that once all of us are old, real old, sure get pain here pain there, cant run away one.
I feel that the best way to keep healthy is to lead a healthy lifestyle in long term, not just to follow the confinement rules during that particular period and then once after that anyhow eat and go back to any form of unhealthy lifestyle and habits, whats the point right? So I explained this to my CL and she agreed with me. Hahaha! But I told I understand that as a CL, she has her own beliefs and it is her duty to remind the mothers she works for to follow this and that.
I think I am a terrible and 'act smart' mother to CL. Hahaha!
Btw, I find my CL is very good, she is fast, efficient and helpful and she is young and able to play with my elder boy too. Even my mum said she is the best CL so far among those CLs doing for my 2 sisters and my last CL too. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]
