Whats braxton hicks?

 


I think my bb can kick from high to low. This morning I felt the kicks slightly above the belly button and just now at the pubic bone. Anyone experienced the same?

braxton hicks - in short, contractions that are not painful and happens irregularly. If it's painful but also not regular, it's also braxton hicks. Like fake labour pain from wat I read.

 
I am waiting for the Taka baby fair then see if got good deal or not. If have then maybe I will get it despite hubby's disapproval. Haha!!

anybody noes the exact date of Taka baby fair?



Is it better to buy playpen or cot? My friend told me playpen has more ventilation and it's better.

 
Actually I also thought playpen is better for babies since all sides are soft. But my sis's CL said cot is good for mummies when changing diaper, etc for baby. Which means wif the cot, mummies don't have to keep bending as it will caused backache.

There is another fair at expo right? Any idea when is the exact date? Think it was posted some time back, but lazy to find that post :p

 
I find the playpen low for me cos i'm tall. My friend recommended i put more mattresses in the playpen to make up for the height and playpen is easy to move about. Cot is easy to adjust the height and changing diapers is better.



Shall take a look next time. Friend also recommended me to check out Baby Hypermart and Baby Kingdom at Kaki Bt Ave 1, might be cheaper there.

Hi mummies, finally back after a long break from CNY. Was down with flu currently. Wondering if we can take normal flu panadol??

The Panadol for flu should not be taken because it contains a decongestant which may affect blood flow and the heart beat. You can take the small yellow tablets known as Chlorpheniramine obtainable from pharmacies (must approach the pharmacist). And Can take normal Panadol for fever only.

Taka Baby Fair: Is the date out liao? I thought 12 to 29 is for last year?



Playpen or cot: I prefer playpen instead of baby cot but hubby prefer baby cot cause he is tall and has back problem, so he prefer to have cot then easier for him to carry baby too. So most likely getting a cot.. who knows.. maybe someone might give me playpen as a gift and I have the best of both worlds. Haha!!

 
actually can start planning and buying baby stuffs, especially non warranty stuffs like strollers, carriers, cots or playpens, furniture.. later when 3rd trim.. already difficult for us to move liao..



i think i going to miss expo baby fair.. will be at HK, sat then come back.. i hope sun got energy to pop by..



i hope to get baby mattress at taka fair and maybe other little stuffs like bottles, towels.. hehe..

 
hi ann, ya i also wasn't thinking of buying the baby carrier. but we chance upon the promo on amazon. dunno how long the sale is. thought better buy. if my mom find out, sure nag at me. in my family, we can't buy anything till 7 months pregnant.

 
i aiming to only buy 2 dresses for my gal especially for 1st mth party (i think very far.. hahaa).. haha.. i foresee i getting alot of hands down clothes, as my cousin's wife just gave birth to twin baby gals last yr.



i want to get good quality nursing bras also.. hopefully got some discount at the fair.

 
Just to check with those who will be placing their baby at in law or own mum house, will u be getting 2 steriliser?? Everything in 2 sets?

 
When I went for my detailed scan last week, I was told that I have a low anterior placenta.

The doc told me that it is normal as in later pregnancy, the placenta will rise up.

But for the time being, I am not supposed to engage in any intercourse as it may cause bleeding.



I read up a little info on anterior placenta and it is a pretty common and normal case. But one of the cons is that mummies may not get to feel bb’s movement.

But for my case, I still get to feel bb kicks.

I think my bb doesn’t like classical music! When I turn it on, she doesn’t move.

1 hour later, I turned it off and went to watch TV, my bb was kicking me every few minutes.

Does this means she prefers the TV, or the classical music makes her peaceful so she didn’t move?



For those mummies who have not felt bb moving yet, maybe wait till your detailed scan and check with your gynae.

Or perhaps, just wait a few more weeks and who knows, bb will start kicking u daily soon!

 
Jo_Lyn: I will be placing BB at my in law house.. i dun think I will get everything 2 sets. Example: Maybe BB use cot at home but most likely i will buy a good mattress to be place at my in law place so easy to keep and take out for BB to sleep on the floor.



For milk bottles or towels or bath tub, yes, most likely will get 2 sets.

 
Jo_Ly, good question.. i probably will get a smaller steriliser and put in my MIL's house.. but this one no hurry to get. because probably only need it when i am about to return to work.

 
i feel bb kicks on Wk 17 and late 17 only..

Till now not much movement.. haiz.. Wonder what bb doing and is bb fine??

Have to wait so long for detail scan....

 
cheese, me too. bb movements on and off. some nights can't feel anything. this morning, i woke up at 6am, can't go back to sleep cos she keeps moving non-stop. like running marathon or something.

I went Baby Avenue on sunday.. they have quite a wide range of car seats and strollers. Price range is cheaper then Mother care... the bjorn bb carrier was priced at $249 (I think, i recall it's $50 cheaper then mother care). Their packages for baby cot also not bad.. they hv all in packages.



babycoco, how much does it cost you in total for the carrier including delivery??



So what are the various US websites that we can shop from?? think can buy and send via Vpost.

nok nok, still waiting for vpost to send me the bill. but i think should be less than SGD200 (including the baby bjorn carrier) in total? maybe can organise a bulk purchase, save on shipping.

 
I am going for detailed Scan tomorrow. Hope can know the baby gender .. Bought many educational toys for the baby cause i dont want to wait till tummy soo big go shopping. Now already too tired to walk long journey. Just need to buy clothing for baby and a good playpen. The rest all settle . I bought 2nd hand items baby jumperoo , rocker, gym sets , baby changing and bath stand, avent steamer. If wait till birth i think no time to buy the toys so now buy bit by bit ..

 
bulk purchase on expensive stuff a bit hard.. cos as long as one invoice exceeds S$400, then GST will be incurred liao.. so say e.g e BB carrier, US$100 each, think max can only buy 2, once hit 3 nos. invoice show more then S$400 then have to pay GST. But those cheaper stuff will be ok... from different websites also ok.

Afternoon Mummies



so good for the mummies can feel their bb kicking. Me still can't feel the movement yet.

Still have to wait for another 2 week, before i get to see my bb again. Hope I can know the gender... hahaha

as for the bb stuffs, eg. steriliser, milk warmer etc, maybe can wait after bb full mth.

I got 2 sterilisers, 1 milk warmer during my ger full mth. In the beginning, I never tot of buying these things. During the 1st mth, I boiled hot water to sterilisers the bottles, as to warm up the BM, I just put it in a bowl of hot water.

i only started feeling the little kicks when i reach 18th weeks.



Lucky for me, we will be getting both bb cot and play pen, 2nd hand from my cousin and my hubby's colleague.

 
i think the milk warmer important. coz was reading, that the antibodies in BM are destroyed at high heat. the milk warmer is set at 40degrees, for ideal warming of BM...

just a few days ago, i started to feel my BB's movement, but it felt more like a "thump" than a kick kick per se...so dunno issit BB's movement or not, hehee.

 
Mrslong! Mine is like tick tick tick dock dock dock for quite sometime! I miss that.. now dun have lei.. not much big moves...

mine "thumping" movement is like once in awhile & once each time only, so i'm also not sure if it's BB kicking inside :p

xbeanniex: the warmer is from pigeon, specially for warming BM or pureeed foods in future. there are settings in the warmer so 45 degrees is for warming BM.

 
noknok: me neither. maybe our placenta is in the anterior position, so cannot feel? have faith, the kicks will come...i'm also waiting until my neck long liao

Good morning ladies. Do you all notice a change in sleeping patterns? For example, you can become very sleepy by say... 10ish and suddenly wake up at around 4 or 5am and feel totally awake.



I feel that my sleeping pattern is totally haywire. At around 4 or sometimes 5.. baby will be happily kicking me and punching me.... I love to feel the kicking but I get super tired when i reach office.. haiz
