(2010/07) July 2010 MTB

Ceres, I also bought the avent steam sterilizer but the 24 hr one. Got it at $199 before discount at Robinsons...

Think the one that you got should be quite reasonable cos I saw Robinsons selling at $149...

Supergal: tks. Just find it funny why they put retail price is 119 on website n sell 120.

Holiday passby so fast. Tmr need to work >.< so sianz. Now buying kfc breakfast.. Heh. The philips carnival ending today! Those have not go can go see see. I bought a juicer for 200 find it quite ok. most items got 2yr warranty.

ann,

glad to know u have been discharged. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] do take the chance to have a gd rest. r u supposed to go back for a review after 2wks?? if so, think u can request another 1-2wks of HL then. take care & all the best!

serene,

very sorry to hear abt ur sad story. but i strongly believe ur current gal will be fine & strong. u've alr come so far so continue to keep the faith coming ya. all the best to u too!

although, i'm only 31wks currently but i've also been haing bad & sleepless nights. think its mostly due to the unbearable heat. sleeping either on my back or on both sides have been quite uncomfy too. i also feel a certain pressure on my cervix these days.

hey mummies, where do i get the avent sterilizer online? anybody has the link?

was thinking to buy it from kiddy palace today since they have 20% off sale, but if online is cheaper, i will buy it online then!

ann, glad to hear you're ok. have a good rest at home.

any mommies bought maternity belt? i bought a pigeon maternity belt yesterday, but find it doesn't help much. tummy still feels very heavy.

Good morning everyone.

Thanks for all your concern.

I am feeling better today. BB is very active. My mum say my son very "pan tang".. so cannot talk abt him at all eg. abt his weight or how big he is. I think she must have heard from my grandma one.

My appetite now very poor. Can't eat much. Hai.. now at most snack at fruit.

My in law came to my house yesterday and bought a lots of herbs and ask me to brew and drink. My MIL also cook plain food and fish soup for me for dinner last night and brought it over to my house for me. Poor hubby.. had to eat the same plain food as me.

Grandparents just came to visit me. They brought me fruits. Now my whole fridge is full of herbs and fridge. Never seen my fridge so full before.

Ventolin: For asthma? But after taking the drug, the side effect is my heart pump faster lei.. if a person with asthma eat liao, won't that person be more out of breath?

Actually i have mixed feelings on welcoming my boy. Of cos i would be happy and excited to meet him face to face. But the tot of sleepless nights and to anticipate whats to come after he is born also scares me..so the counting down feeling is really scary to me now..seeing you mummies so excited on the single digit countdown makes me feels like i am a bad mummy [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Ann - Take good care of yourself & Rest Well!!

Serene - Baby at Week 37 is consider full term already so it shld be perfectly fine to induce... however I still think u shld speak to your gynae & listen to his/her advice....afterall gynae is the expert in this field.....

suntan, you are not alone, i feel the same as you..

Almost every night before hubby and I sleep, i will ask him the same question over and over again, like.. "will you still love me after bb is born?" "Are we gonna be still sweet to each other? or are we going to quarrel over kids?" "will you still sayang me and kiss me?"

aiyo... really don't know what are the changes gonna be.. T_T bit fearful of what's going to come..

ica -- yeah.. i will try that.. cause whenever i stretch myself when i wake up, the cramps will come together as a "package" hahaha...

Angel -- yup.. i am staying positive and we know she will be alright

keropi -- yeah but theres still risks involved.. hmm.. ya lor.. now hoping my next visit, gynae can let me know what he thinks

baby movements -- do u feel tat bb movements are getting more restricted? like... no more heavy and strong movements and bb seems to be quite space constrained? sometimes must flip open the shirt then can see bb moving but cannot feel cause its not that strong.. anyone exp that?

Ann,

When asthmatics take ventolin, won't feel out of breath coz airways already constricted to start with. hahaha. ventolin helps to smoothen the airways, as in helps to expand them.

when i first started using it, my hands would tremble but not too serious. that is one of the side effects. fast heart beat is also one of the side effects but if it gets too much, as in they make you feel nervous, panicky, better tell your gynae/doc

Serene,

yah, happened to me also, when i stretched myself upon waking up - forgot to flex toes/feet and ended up with cramps! now i'll always remember to flex them whenever i stretch myself

shann,

ya man, I also asked my hubby the same qns n she say I am a silly goose.. Lol, think too much.

Serene,

I always feel my boy moving rather than see his movements. Would only see his movements if his kicks are very strong n not the other way round.

shann/sun_tan

some of us are in double or even triple trouble! imagine we had to go thru anothe cycle of feeding, changing, feeding, chnaging 2nd or third time... me also dunno how to managed but i hope it will work out eventually...

re: baby movement

i must hv jinxed myself yesterday... was chatting with the ladies after pilates yesterday and said my bb had yet to be engaged ... yesterday nite, think my bb was aking his shift... i was very out of breath and for a moment, i thought i was going to die! the whole moving & shifting of position lasted almost 6 hours. today, i think i feel his bum near my gastric liao...

jellypurin,

Haa, at least he has turned..i still dunno how to "feel" the position of my boy. But recently when he hicupp, i can feel the rythmic bump towards the lower right side of my hip. Not sure if that means he is upside down now?

Hi Sun_Tan & Shann - You mommies are not alone.. Me three.. As much as I will like to welocme my BB into my world.. I'm also feeling very uptight about coping with him once he's here.. Heard from my friend who had just delivered that she has slept only 3 hrs per day due to breastfeeding.. Cos BB feed about 1 hr at each feed & after that she will pump out the excess for another 45 mins.. Rest a while like 15 mins.. BB wakes up again... The cycle goes on.. And, not to mention, sure keena some silly problems with hubby, in laws etc.. Haiz.. Feel so uptight now.. Also worried about labour pains and couple life when BB is here.. Cos even now, feel that me & my hubby also not close le cos I get tired easily so I tend to sleep earlier..

Hi Shann Yheng, philips avent electric sterilizer sells at $149 in most places e.g. Kiddy palace, but note Kiddy palace is having 15/20% storewide sale now. At places like NTUC, it cost $182! Saw at isetan it was sold at $119 a month ago.

The best deal was from Expo back in end Apr - $109 inclusive of free gift Avent drink bottle and 2 pacifiers.

Expo motherhood sale is coming again next week 3-6 June, maybe you wanna try see if still can get $109 deal!

Me too. im staying with my ILs.. i am at a lost when i think about how to educate them on the things i wan to do for my child.. simple things like..

- no water feeding cause bb will be water full and wont feed on bm and causing her weight to drop...

- colic is not necessary wind but a passing phrase and theres really nothing we can do but to wait for that phrase to pass..

- lift upgrading in dec -- my ILs will tell me to let bb be and get used to the noise but how can i explain to them that.. tv and radios are ok but not the construction cause it will harm her dedicate ear drums? they will say this and that..

simple things like tat.. the old folks will prob think im crazy and a gao zeh mom.. and if my bb cries, they would say my bb very hard to take care etc etc..

its not as thou i can bring my bb "home" and jus bear with them for that few hours.. im like staying with them and theres a lot to explain.

moreover, my niece and nephew had been great when they were babies and im very worried they will start comparing...

i told my hubby to stand by me cause i think i will be post natal D if all these come true.. i will run away from home with my baby...lol..

keer13 -- every baby is different.. what i told myself over the mths is... im ready for all the lack of sleep if its for baby.. haha.. i rather i do the job than let others do.. then i also discuss with my hubby on the job responsibility.. if its jus waking up for nappy change, hubby will help me in the nights.. but if for feeding, he will wake me up.. and we take turns..

what im gg to do it to feed bb on closer intervals in the day so that night time will be a slightly longer interval.. most imptly make sure bb is drinking and latching properly so as to make sure that bb wont wake up every now and then to cry for milk..

like i said, every baby is diff.. hubby and i will fine tune accordingly when bb is out.. but we are mentally prepared for the lack of sleep in the nights..

as for the marriage and bond between hubby and me.. we will have a session for couple time before i pop.. and we will go out as a family like checking into hotels or jus somewhere to enjoy life together... im sure we can juggle but jus need time to adapt.

dun be afraid of changes.. lets be mentally prepared and try to adapt ok?

Jia you.. Welcome to motherhood... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I think these few days i sleep like a pig!! Haha!!

Just now I had a weird dream.. I dream of my dad.. I couldn't remember what he said but I know when he was going away, i cried and cried and hold on to his hand and asked him not to go. When i open my eyes, my nose was blocked and my tears still flowing. I realised I was crying in my sleep.

Motherhood: Just relax and take it as it comes. During my time spend in hospital, I was feeling really calm. I also dunno why. If BB decide to come there and then, I think it is just fated. Don't worry. Be happy.

Chicky, thanks! I just found out someone is selling the brand new avent sterilizer on sg ebay at $100!! already made my order ho ho ho~~

yay, tmr will be recieving bb's playpen, i bought the brand new graco contour electra from babymeadows, at 100 dollars cheaper then retail price! also bought the cybex 2 go baby carrier, air free mattress, bedsheet, and some narforye baby toys from the shop. Very good service, lots of discount!

can check out the website at http://babymeadows.com.sg/

Wow congrats on the good deal! Is it still under warranty?

I also bought a Graco playpen that I like very much - it comes with bumper.

http://www.kiddysky.com/CommodityShow.aspx?id=964

Only managed to get it at a discounted price of $210 (original was $299) from another website (not kiddysky.com) because several online websites I asked mentioned the margin is very low and they could not discount a lot.

Feels good to get discounts :p

Chicky, not sure about the warranty oh, but it's still in the sealed box and seller said that he/she just bought it.

saw your playpen, nice! saw it at mothercare too.

har nor i also like the feeling, like win a war and so proud of myself hahha!

hi all.. i ve been experiencing cramps the whole of today. I dunno what is it. It juz feel like menstrual cramp spread over a larger area. Then for past few days, instead of been constipated.. I can actually poo poo twice a day and the stools are soft! My friend said its a sign of labour? really or not? My appt is on coming tue.. my hubby leaving spore tomo... you think i can wait till tue for my appt n ask doc? scare false alarm la...

AtomicKitten: If you really feel cramps, should contact your gynae and seek his/her advice. If he/she say can wait till Tues, then wait. Since we are already in 3rd trimester, better to be safe.

atomic kitten

i had same thing as u abt 3 wks back. i told gynae that i had what felt like menstrual cramping for 3 consecutive days. he didnt even act alarmed. just told me maybe mummy tummy colic! that was that. but to be on safe side you shld ask yr gyane & see wht he/she says

RE:Burping

mommies whom attended Mrs Wong's class - this sounds like silly question but how do we burp our newborns? upwards or downwards motion?

Ann, shann yheng, hael : thanx for yr advice! I absolutely have no inkling what is it coz i dun even know how braxton feels like. Ok I shall be more observant n monitor .. and if it continues.. i call doc tomo. quite scare coz hubby going away tomo and i be home alone..

atomickitten -- i agree with the rest.. dun wait.. dun take chances. serious.. even if its another 2 days to see gynae.. its best to contact gynae as soon as possible. by right cramps, if its BH, shudnt last so long.

Hael -- i normally burp my niece and nephew downwards so they dun burp the milk out.. but my aunt burp upwards when all the milk all over her.. keke..

want to ask if you all will feel weak legs? this couple of days i can feel the pressure pressing on my legs.. no strength to stand or walk more than 15 mins. i feel like i have ran a marathon.

Another question is have you all decided when to take ML? i thinking to take on the delivery day itself.. then before that take some leaves here and there.. hmm..

Gd Morning Mummies

I graduated frm MTB to mummy now [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Enjoying every single moment with my bundle of joy especially during bf!! I must say bm is the best for our precious ones, so to all mtb, don't giving up if the going get tough, must perservance to express as much bm as possible and store them. Found this website www.***********.com bought storage bags instead of so many BPA bottles to store bm, check it out [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Good lobang must share !!

Hi Jasline.. You have wrote all my exact sentiments on what I wanna say & ask this AM.. :p Morning blues & yes, I also wanna know if the Doctor's talk is worth going as I intend to skip that.. Btw, where is this SG Girl's Sch? I did ask my friend if it's informative to attend.. She say it's quite ok & there's free gift but she doesn't sound convincing.. Any mommies out there, any advise? What topics will there cover anyway?

lasery

most likely BH, but u can call gynae and chk it out... doc may strap u on CTG...

rabbit

normal that you feel your legs are weak. right now, ur bb is heavier and hence alot of pressure is on your lower body. try not walk or stand too long if you cant...

i hate monday.

yesterday didnt getta slp well.

slp for intervals for less than 1hr. it sucks.

now feelin so slpy n achy.

grrr... cant take mc cuz got o/s wk undone in the office. argghhh.... hate this feeling!!!

jelly, thanks...most prob will check it out with gyane ltr bah....

the little one inside hate to be strap on leh..i had to do a CTG last week due to urinary infection. ended up he keep kicking n rubbing his fists at the equipment until the nurse also wanna give up...making so much sound with the heavy thump thump thump when he kicks at it.

Jellypurin, ya man.. i thinking how to survive in mrt ride..

actually i am clueless when my gynae said baby is 3/5 engaged.. i forgot to ask if that means baby will be out eariler? i feel like calling up to my gynae to double confirm this. I have been preparing myself.. telling ppl around me, that i might deliver early.

keer13,

I also have no idea where is SG Girl's Sch... Anyway sound far to me.. Morever is aft work.. so so tiring.. dun feel like gng...

So see whether any advice from mummies here see whether worth to go or not.. Hmmm ur Doc talk is this coming 2nd June ma???

Mummies at times, bb will turn here and there if we still got space for them.

Like mine sometimes he is down, sometimes side, sometimes sitting down. Hmmhmmmm

Birth is a miracle, i was warded for high BP and i purposely choose class C the lowest class cause i want to see the problems other mummies have. Class B1 and A1 normally no people so noting to see.

A mummy came wit high BP, was put in labour ward but the BP was stable. She have slight small contractions but was sent to normal WARD for monintoring. Somemore Gynae told her that BB only 37 weeks and she not dilated yet. Maybe discharge the next morning. But at 2am, as i was going to the toilet, she press the bell. She thought i was the nurse, and she told me Missy my water bad broke i am going to give birth.

I got shocked. I was like HUh? But doctor say you not dilated yet. Than i press the bell for her many times. I go out tell the nurse they rushed her to delivery suite.

So you imagine, we really cannot predict when baby will be out. But somehow our body will tell us here and there so we must be sensitive to our body action.

keer, Jasline,

i went for the doc's talk at Spore Chinese Girls School, along Dunearn Road. nothing much la. during my session, it was Dr. Joycelyn Wong. she touched on the 3 labour signs, types of painkillers, whether should go for waxing. couldn't remember anything else but most stuff covered by Mrs. Wong oredi. then a TCM physician took over and talked about pregnancy & childbirth from TCM viewpoint - what is good for the body, etc. most stuff we already know from our moms, aunties, old folks

as for the free gift, it was nothing much - a changing mat, and a little t-shirt for the little one, with the logo on it. some milk brand, but cannot recall which one. getting forgetful. hehe

Good morning ladies.

My HL had started. Wondering how am I going to last so long at home. Hubby now kanjiong and ask me to get the big items in by this week. I think last weekend incident really freak him out.

Last class with Mrs Wong: I didn't go for lesson last Saturday. Anyone can tell me what did Mrs Wong teach? If I didn't go due to just discharged from hospital, u think Parentcraft will allow me to go for replacement lesson? I also dunno to go for tomorrow's talk or not since gynae say I should rest at home. The only place I can walk is at home. Sian.

Ann,

Yes, you can go for replacement class but it's better that you rest at home and not move around much. after all, your gynae wouldn't have prescribed you HL.

anyway the last lesson was a video presentation, if i remember correctly, on breastfeeding, its benefits...cannot remember much. sigh...all gone down the drain

When I attended the prenatal class, we were told not to burp bb upwards, because they have fine hairs at their back and burping upwards will cos the hairs to drop since u will rub the back against the direction of the hair.

Also, my instructor also said some CLs or MILs like to burp downwards, thinking that it will bring the air downwards and bb will fart out excess wind, but she said there is no logic to that. Just need to pat on their shoulder blades, that’s what I learnt…
