shokel>the cake looks nice! pity about the taste.

ainsley>enjoy your hols in HK. How is nn now?

alicia>I went HK last June and stayed at Prudential Hotel. It was v convenient as its just above Jordan MTR. The bed is also big enough for my boy and us although they also provided a cot.

Gg : cake it's from cupcake divinity .. But taste a bit dry wor..
Cuppies is from Yan Smh Bp..

Tyl: ya lor.. Wasted..

Ainsley MTDT: im going after CNY, 17 - 20 feb... short trip to enjoy. Any places got sell Cheap baby clothes other than H&M?

LS: my fren also recommend Prudential...will chk it out.

shld i take Jetstar or Cathay? the diff is not much....$160 more but jetstar has better flight timings.

Alicia>We took Jetstar to HK and were quite satisfied with the service that we got. If the diff not much and Cathay's timing isn't too bad, maybe take Cathay better since its full service so there'll be food and more space for everyone?

Alicia>just happened to see the following Cathay Pacific offer for HK in my email. Not sure how good the flight timing for the promo are though.

now CX having promo rite? but most likely jetstar also will hv promo to counter it! :p

shopping - my fren says stanley market is gd...
citigate is for those outlet malls.

Ainsley - u shd be our in house tour guide! wahahahaha

aiya, the timing is quite bad. the cheap flights is evening. so 1 day is wasted.

LS: u took jetstar with baby on board? do they provide the bassinet for bb to sleep in?

alicia>opps. sorry, didn't have time to check the timing.

yes, we took jetstar with bb. We didn't ask for the bassinet cos we took the normal seats. They'll give you an additional belt that you use to secure bb to your seatbelt during takeoffs and landings. Most of the time, Ayden was in my lap. Wasn't so bad since it was a short flight

Alicia, you can go uniqlo in hk, Uniqlo baby is very very cheap n nice. Duno y sg dun have uniqlo baby! la compagnie des petits clothes also nice. go those small shops along the streets also have nice clothes for children.

shokel, thanks! Both cake and cupcake looks beautiful! But I think another mummy (Jo?) also commented cupcakedivinity taste not very good. Think she ordered from them also. But the figurines they make really nice lor!

MTDT & other agent mummies, hey now is it still a hot pty market huh?? Am still considering whether to buy...sellers still asking for v high prices I find...negotiating now v sian..so dunno shd proceed or not..

Hi Mummies,

Hope everyone doing good.
Congrat to all who is preggy.

btw, have any of you start feeding babies with peanuts?

Happy New Year Everyone! =)

Joanna - I let my baby tried bread with nuts like walnut loaf..

I think somebody mentioned Dr Joycelyn Wong. She is my gynae. She is a nice and sweet doctor but personally I dun think she is very experienced cos my baby came out 4 weeks earlier and she didnt see it coming. But overall she is not bad.

Wah so many of you trying no. 2.. i dunno whether should I try for no. 2 or stop at no. 1. Cannot imagine that I have to face my mother-in-law for an extend period of time.. sian..

So nice to go to HK with baby.. I also want to go but dun dare.. my fren brought her 1yr + son to Beijing and it was a nightmare.

By the way, Ainsley, I read that you are sending NN to Schchida in FB.. How much ah? Dunno whether should I send my baby there.. My hubby said no need to spend that kind of $$.. Let me know if its effective.

hi ginnie, I send my gal to Shichida when she is 7 mths, now starting 3rd term already. The fee is $780 for 10 lessons, with gst is $800+.

Its an expensive investment!

Shichida must send long term den will see its results. I have seen gd results with my fren's kids. At 2 yr old, she can differentiate which house keys to use to open the door with already.

ginnie: think shichida is to enhance concentration capability by training right brain, and of cos many other benefits (correct me if I am wrong). Some other similar schools are probably Little Neuro Tree and Minchamps.

Alicia: dont think your fren's kid who can differentiate house keys at 2 year old is attributed to Shichida ba, cos i think most 2 year old can lah hehe.

Alicia, wah $80 per session is really quite ex.. plus i heard the parents must also practise with the child everyday right?

how's ur daughter's progress?

hmmm.. nowadays expenses for kids very high..

Ginnie, agree with u on dr joycelyn wong. Remember my epi area tear, all my gfs say its due to bad stitching, cannot be bad confinement. So i also dunno is it really her responsibility, but she is average, some things she is good like quite comfortable with her.

miumiu, ginnie: remember hor, if u keen on Julia Gabriel, remember to put your name on wait list liao ok?

And another more kiasu one, if u keen on any specific half day childcare/full day childcare/half day playgroup of the more popular schools, please put your name down with the school now liao. Hemmie told me in FB that her boy already no.5 on the waitlist for Pat's Schoolhouse playgroup in 2012/2013! GROSS! I am a bit luckier cos my no.1 is in the school so got priority enrolment.

Miu miu - Julia Gabriels sounds expensive.. haha.. I dun think there is one near my house too. Most prob I will send my son to Smiling Star playgroup cos there is one near my block.. 2 hrs each day and its around $200/mth..

Ivy - urs is c-section? mine is natural delivery and my malay massage lady said the stitching done for me is still quite ok. I think if pregnant with complications cannot look for Dr. Wong.

Calamari - I agree with you.. I also registered my son for My First Skool childcare. Will send him there if got place if not have to send him to Smiling Star. And the feedback I got from My First Skool is that the waiting list is already quite long and the next 1-2 year they are quite full.. Faint.

Wah Pat's Schoolhouse very ex.. think around $1k after subsidy for full day childcare...

Calamari, looking at caspian etc. Jurong area. Looking for 4 bedroom.

Ginnie, ivy, I also agree she not as experienced cos she is quite young compared to the veteran gynaes. Sometimes I wonder if another doc whether I cld have avoided c sectn. Any mummies got other good gynae recommend?

G G lee T C Chang from TMC, he 's my gynae. A very confident with charisma...very assuring too. But my hubby dun like him coz he kana scolding from him b4 as my hubby like to ask alot of questions haha...

Childcare I also put jaylen on waiting list Liao near my area surprise tat quite a number need to b on waiting list liao

haven't had time to drop in recently.. want to check with u gals, do u feed your baby rice or still porrdige?

my boy started eating rice at 11+ momths cuz we're sick of eating porridge and he also wants to eat our food all the time..

is rice ok for their age? he seems to be able to chew and swallow well.. poo no issue.. in fact i would say he is eating solids now, no more semi solids.. jus soupy rice with small pieces of vege and mashed up meat/fish..

GG lee: Childcare @ My first skool is around $300+ after subsidy. By the way, I think there will be a new condo site besides the Caspian, think call Lakeshore or Lakeside residences.

I will see how my son progress when he is 18mths old and also whether have space at childcare.. if got vacancy but i am not confident he can tahan the long hrs at childcare then will opt for playgroup...

My ang moh colleague's wife is also with TC Chang from TMC. Think he should be quite famous but this means waiting time should be quite long ba..

Hello all, on Shichida, I took my son out after 2 terms. He doesn't enjoy the lessons. My son gets restless after at most half an hour. Also, I do not believe in the method they advocate, shall not go into detail here, PM me if you are really interested to hear my thoughts.

I prefer Julia Gabriel's style, which let the child touch, feel, get messy, have fun while learning and also develop good social skills and habits through songs and activities. I know my son enjoys the classes when he mimicks the hand movements and dances on his own out of nowhere at home.

Oh yes if you all have any childcare in mind please enrol them fast! I intend to put my son in half day childcare and the places I have in mind are all full!

Hey Calamari, the one at Ridgewood is non-aircon so I am checking an alternative at Tanglin, Tanglin's morning half day is full, but they are looking at starting afternoon class if they have the numbers. Everything's in limbo, nothing's confirmed... sigh. I should have been more kiasu and register my son half a year back when he is six months old. If indeed Singapore is experiencing low birthrate, why is this happening? SICK!

to add on, I am not saying Shichida's method is bad or no good, I just feel that the method and way of teaching does not suit my child.
happy.gif

yeah christie! sicko leh those waiting lists! low birthrate somemore? dun seem to be the case! I was thinking of half day cc then so that I could get back to work. I put my boy's name down for Pat's at Serangoon and that was when he was eight months old. I was down on a fairly long waitlist! gosh!

haf just started Reyes on Shichida with Ains n Liling's tots! mtdt's keanu reeve too! first class today.. wasnt that impressed w the trainer though! needs more time to assess further.. haha.. started on SM hoping his brain potential can be enhanced but there are certain parts during the lesson that I haf yet to be convinced at this point! v tiring to be a loving enthusiatic parent man.. i so wan to nuaaa..

I will eventually start Reyes on JG too! prob when he is 18mths or 2 yrs of age. will go reg asap so that i can b on the WAITING list. that's cute of Samuel to mimic the gestures! bring on the big bird dance! =D

yoyo...

luwen: i also got reg ashton for pats at serangoon!!!
was thinkin of JG too... but duno isit ex bor.. hven reg yet...
i also thinkin of wkin tats why wana take half day playgroup or cc...

oh, shichida enjoyin arh... ahha...

shokel! hahaa really??? i wanted to start him for playgrp but my mum n hubby no heart leh. say too early start sch.. haha.. prob just let him do JG first.. at least not daily.. if i put at pats for nursery hor.. my dad can be my son's chauffeur. wahaha! v near my mum's. kekeke

shichida ok la.. think my brain kena worked more than reyes'. haha

Luwen: Eight months and already on wait list? think it's ridiculous! Hmmmm should we register when we were expecting then??? this is getting absurd.

For Shichida, go easy on the trainer. I don't believe in the system. Me and son was in 2nd term and there was a parent who kept scolding the child (barely 13-15 mths old?) to sit still, to follow the instructions of the teacher to put the fake duck on the fake board when the child is curious about exploring and touching materials instead of following instructions.
But hope you all have fun in the class with familiar faces. Regrets that it just wasn't suitable for my son.
happy.gif

i decided to put my son in those half day childcare for him to learn social skills and character development, though I am a SAHM. I am going to start him when he is about 18-24 months onwards.

Seems like JG and pat very popular.. Need to go see gir any nearby. Most of these like v far from where I stay. I also prefer those dat will b more of fun learning and exploratory. At least for now, I wan let them have fun first. I believe in each method u gain some u lose some. So depends on which school of thought we believe in.
