have any mummies bought the herbs for confinement??
this is the first time i got no CL.
Mil is ang-mo-pie de so i not sure she knows what she's doing.
Mum and grandma made me a few bottles of rice wine le.
Mum want to bring me to buy but most of the time its only me and maid n mil @ hm. dun noe who will cook the herbs.

Congrats to those who have popped!
My EDD is 03Dec and i have popped on 24 Nov morning.
Those who have no signs yet..the labour can start anytime! So better get your hospital bag ready.
Just to share..I went for my checkup on 23 Nov afternoon..zero dilation & bb only half engaged.
At 24 Nov 3am plus, i started to have contractions (still thinking maybe it's false contractions as i never had any nor BH). But it started to come at 5mins interval. Told HB around 5am that we better get ready to go TMC then my waterbag started to leak and more at each contractions.
Reached TMC at 6plus. Nurse checked..already 6-7cm dilated. Requested for epi as really cannot take it, even though no epi is part of my 'birth plan'.
My gynae reached and said he was surprised that it was me when hospital called him. Told him maybe my girl heard he will be away during the long weekend. Haha..
Finally pushed my girl out at around 11am.
Nurse said very busy day for them..a lot of babies delivered.
Btw, TMC's 2 visitors restriction has been lifted. And the security guard said TMC is 'fully booked' in Dec.

Wa, by the time you went to hospital already 6-7cm dilated, still must wait for another 5 hours before baby is out. Luckily you had epi, can't imagine tahan-ing the pain for another 5 hrs.

my hubby and in-laws just went to buy chinese herbs today. spent close to $1k. also 'transferred' 6 bots of martell and 3 bots of DOM from my in-laws house to my house today.
just the chinese herbs, already make me and hubby broke, cannot imagine the rest of the grocery expenses during the confinement month.
yiqi, initially i wanted to engage a confinement lady, but now decided to get my mom and mil to help with my confinement. save some money. for the chinese herbs, can ask the ppl at the chinese medical hall wat to buy for confinement, and they will recommend.

I think someone asked about the TMC companion charges for 1 bedder? Yes, they charge $75 for companion fee. They set up the sofa bed with bedsheet, give a pillow and throw in meals. If your hubby can find his own food, then can go for the $60 one which only includes breakfast (one nurse told us). Their food is so so. Opposite TMC got very good tze char which hubbies can tabao.
By the way, even if we have prebooked 1 bedder, it still depends on availability on the day one. So can be quite chaotic, as 1 bedders are very hot, so we must think in advance if dun have 1 bedder, u wan to upgrade or downgrade to next level.
As for breastfeeding, dun be disappointed if colustrum/milk dun come in fast. My colustrum only came 3rd day of birth. But soon after that started dripping already. Important to massage your breast and nipple to stimulate. And get baby to suckle even if no milk yet. It works!

Miu miu, for me was my waterbag burst plus show. In the end had C section as BB did not engage and no dilation. Doc thinks could be bb head too big for my pelvis. I told bb just try to engage and see if he thinks can come out, if not it is ok, we will just go for C. Most important is he is safe. Plus I also worried even if eventually engage and dilate, would I be confident I can push him out. By then could be too tired le.
Anyway, C section is not dat bad. I got to see him immediately after they take him out also.
Only thing is the bill is definitely much higher for C.

miumiu: breastfeeding unsucessful for me leh. Nurse brought bb for me to try to bf on the day of delivery.Cant latch..said my nipples too short, asked me to bring pump the next day.Gave bb FM. The next day, LC came and said not very short.Advised me to use nipple shield but bb not with me then so cant 'demo' for me. So i requested for the shield during the next feed. But the nurse didnt help much..once bb suckled, she left but bb actually resisted after that.
so still on FM now.
I tried to pump out yesterday for the 1st time. 40ml..gave to bb but she becomes cranky for the rest of the day. Kept asking for milk every 2 hrs..messed up the feeding portion & timing. I also wonder if the EBM is 'clean' enough..like mixed with my sweat.. (Any advise??)
Pumped out another 30ml just now. Sitting in the fridge now..still considering whether to give it to her or not. Worried she cranky again.

Miu miu...pain is ok...they give u painkillers after dat. I started walking the next morning already. But must control dun laugh...my hubby dunno say wat till I cannot control burst our laughing super pain man! My total bill was $8k+.
Justalamb, yes, tonic herbs very expensive and need quite a lot for the soups etc. Food ingredients later going to cost a lot of monies also...all the good fish, good pork etc...easily cost another $800..

Littlesheep, if u do wan to breastfeed, good to see the LC with bb early before bb gets too used to bottle. Am sure they can help. As for feeding time etc, I feel they serve as a guide. Every bb is different so dun worry too much abt the timing. Feed on demand. Dats wat the PD told me.
Dun worry abt the sweat, direct latch also same. Just wipe yourself before feeding/expressing.
Oh yes, contractions are horrible! I salute those who did without.

My gynae juz came back from her holiday so now I can move arnd w/o worrying that I might go into labour and she is not arnd...I went for my checkup yesterday...and u noe wat. Previous wk gynae told me my bb gal's weight is 3.2kg at wk 36, this wk tell me bb weight is 2.8kg! How can bb inside lose weight right? She den said she could have measure wrongly. aiyo!
Anyway, i'm glad that my bb's weight is not so high now. Actually I was worried abt bb being too & wana induce on 1 dec den gynae told me another shocking news, bb is not engaged yet! Last wk, she told me bb engaged already n make me happy...this wk make me sad by saying bb is half engaged only...she did VE check and said she can still push e bb's head back. If bb's head is engaged, the head cant be pushed back one...make me happy for nothing...sigh. Now I have to do half squats everyday to make bb engaged...n ask me to wait for bb's call to give birth. grr.
hopefully I dun have to wait long...

my gynae is from Glen E...Dr Ang. Me n Janiz seeing her...I think last wk she muz be thinking of her holiday lah...den measure wrongly or wat...my SIL see her last time so I went to her...this is the 1st time she give me wrong info...other checkups r ok..She ask me to see her in 1 weeks time...

miumiu - yah lor, Im going to move as much as I can now to make bb come faster haha. I went swimming this afternoon n ppl r staring at me but i dun dun care. Most prob will try to have sex wif hubby tomr too to see if it works? haha. =p Anyone tried? I keep telling bb to come out on 1st dec oso but guess she is still too comfortable inside.

Genesis, Jeanie, Josephine, me waiting game too. EDD 8 Dec. Can't wait for her to be out cos it's getting very difficult to move around and my legs are so swollen that I have to prop them up whenever I find the chance.
The longer I need to wait, the bigger she'll get. Freaks me out. But, I know once she's out, I've got to be moo moo cow and no time to sleep. Dilemma also.

miumiu, good that you are so positive. Me no. 2 liao so a bit jaded. At least I still wake up in the night because of no. 1, if not, don't know if I've have the energy to restart my engine to the sleepless nights, 2-3 hr BF schedule, leaky boobies and breast engorgement. Hee.
For EBM, you can but best to put the milk bags or bottles in separate airtight lock & lock/tupperware container for freezer so that you won't get the food smells. For chilled EBM, best to put in chiller drawer on its own if you can afford the space.

Miumiu, I have no regrets BF my gal for 1 year. But sometimes when you are so tired that you really want to sleep earlier or wake up later but you can't cos your boobs are rock hard and leaking that you have no choice but to pump. Loss of freedom is also very real, anywhere you go must be within the 2-3 hr BF window unless you don't mind lugging the pump wherever you go.
I couldn't even cut and rebond my hair at 1 session cos boobs will start to leak and become rock hard to remind you that it's time to pump/latch on baby. I resorted to pumping at the hair salon's tiny office and rushing back to bring back the milk.
Then if you keep missing the pump/feed times, either supply drops or you end up with blocked ducts/engorgement/mastitis, got to see LC to relieve the pain. That's why I can understand why some people stop BF after their ML cos really not easy to persevere sometimes if you don't have enough suppport and encouragement.

miumiu, I'm now SAHM so will try to tahan for 1 year for no. 2 too. If not, like not very fair to Mei Mei. But see how lar. Got to look after two, so got to divide my time also so that won't end up neglecting no. 1.
