Strangely... he's not big. He's just heavy. Still wearing 0-3mths romper without needing to stretch it out leh. And only upsize to Pampers S size diapers last week! He's just heavy-boned, I believe. And all his fats mostly accumulate on his face! Show you lah.

NEED HELP! ANSWERS regarding BCG

i was giving my gal a wipe down earlier and to my horror, i noticed that her BCG which was previously like a pop up is now totally gone and there is a HOLE there. on the pampers, there is some pus-like yellowish thing, i think the BCG burst.

not joking, really one HOLE there and it looks quite deep! is this normal? looks scary.... will the hole close up? now i worry when she poo, the poo will go into the hole or not?! then how to clean? how?? also worried it will get infected.

still yet to sell my Huggies S...so maybe i'll open up and geh geh make her finish it.... then use M... that'll be about 2 more weeks.. when she's prob 2 months old.... so by then she prob 5.5-6kg liaoz..

Huggies S is 3-7kg... at 5kg, she outgrow...
So for Huggies M is 5-10kg...means she'll outgrow by 8kg??

i've received the pupsilk pouch liao. but gosh! find it really hard to use. i perspired like a pig trying it out. hmm...when i put her in her legs like very cramped up, wonder if like this for long hrs ok or not?

mummies using the pouch. can advise the pocket is supposed to be on the inside rite? and the cushion part is facing outside right?

i've also not used fitti before for my toddler. but since using it for my baby, i actually find that the texture is softer and able to keep the bum cooler than huggies. i'm going to use mamypoko for night time, but i haven't opened that packet of diapers yet.

Not sure if it'll work for you as well, but I start with SUCTION one-third of the way in, then on the lowest CYCLE setting. Within 10 "sucks" my letdown come liao.
Then to get 2nd letdown, once the BM start to drip slower and smaller amts, I turn up the cycle a bit more, then after about 5-10 "sucks" the BM start dripping a bit faster, I'll turn up suction by a bit more also. That's how I get my 2 letdowns back to back lo.
Today I finally manage to get 3 letdowns using pump liao. Woohoo! But also (obviously) spend more time sitting there holding the pump. Quite sian de leh, just sit there gong gong stare at tv.

Who knows leh, later suddenly your boy shoot up in weight gain leh? I never stock diapers one lor, cos cannot predict when they will growth spurt. Then have to find ways to get rid of smaller diapers, or just squeeze them into it until really really cannot wear.

I paid $450 for 7 sessions of 1 hour massage + binding lo. I think what you paying is somewhat "standard rate" lah. Alot of other ML also charging this kind of rate. Rach's massage price I really never hear before one lor. Super duper cheap.
But as long as yours works well for you, then the price is secondary, right?
I lose average 1" per session, so even though I paid a lot more than rach, I still find it worth the money.

I think no one answer your qns cos we all dunno how to answer.
K's BCG was popped up and had a scab, but not a hole lor, so I also dunno how to answer you. As long as it doesn't look raw or has funny discharge coming from it, i guess it's alright?

My left side also half the amt of my right side since ytd. Sibei pissed with it.
Been pumping left side twice as often, and only latching K on left side so can totally empty out and prompt it to make more milk to balance with right side. I also pump left side before latching K, so K will be "sucking empty" for a while to "create demand". Continuing to pump right side every 3hrs so the supply there won't dip.
I should be seeing some improvement tmr.
Today my total pump yield is 840ml!! So happy. Enough to cover J's required amt, with 120ml spare left!!

increasing milk supply,
mummies who want to increase their supply can try eating oatmeal. i had five heaped tablespoons on wed morning and ended up with engorgement by wed evening. i was not intending to increase my milk supply, but simply wanted to have oatmeal for breakfast. so no more oatmeal for me now!

blood on belly button,
my baby's umbilical stub has dropped off for 2 weeks already. but i still see blood on the belly button sometimes. means the wound hasn't cleared up. any cause for concern?

19) How do I take care of my baby's cord?

A newborn umbilical cord is a stump of 1-2 cm long with a plastic clamp attache Within one day the umbilical cord which was shiny and moist at birth will shrivel up, turn crusty and darken in color. After about 5 days to 2 weeks the clamp will dry up and fall off. For a while there will be two parts: the blackish part of the umbilical cord and the skin color part of the navel.

Caring for Cord

In the past doctors used to advise cleaning the stump with cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol or antiseptic powders to aid in the healing process and keep the area free from infection. Not anymore. Recent studies indicate the more you stay away from it the better. But again it all depends on what you are comfortable with; just ensure the umbilical cord area is kept clean and dry at all times to ward off infection. 2 things you can or should do:

• Fold down your baby's diaper to air the stump. As much as possible do not allow the diaper to come into contact with the umbilical cord and to expose the umbilical cord to air

• Skip tub baths altogether for a week to 10 days or until the umbilical cord drops off and the area heals totally; stick to topping and tailing instead The idea is to keep the navel area as dry as possible. Infection sets in when the wound comes in contact with water and for some reason the area doesn't dry up.


The Basics on Cleaning

• Once the umbilical cord falls off there will be a small wound Sometimes a small amount of blood tinged fluid oozes from the site. This is normal unless it doesn't dry up completely in a few days.

• Remember to clean the area every day to prevent infection.

• Never be tempted to pull the umbilical cord; it will drop off when its time for it to drop off.

• Clean the umbilical cord every day with cotton wool dipped in cooled, boiled water if you prefer cleaning it to leaving it alone.

• Dry gently with a soft towel.

• Keep the umbilical cord exposed to air and prevent it from becoming wet with urine - turn the top of your baby's nappy down


Common concerns

• Umbilical cords take longer to fall off if there is an infection. If it is kept dry it will fall off sooner, usually within a week after delivery.

• Touching the umbilical cord doesn't hurt the baby unless it is infected

• A few drops of blood seeps out when the umbilical cord starts to separate - this is old bloo If the area is kept clean the bloody spot will heal fast.

• Swelling in the navel is a hernia. It is very common. It usually resolves itself in a few months and sometimes it can take longer but no treatment is needed. Do not attempt to press the lump down with home binders as it can do harm instead of good.

• The fleshy part after the stump falls off is the granulation tissue (umbilical granuloma). With time this bright red scar tissue will settle down; if not it will be treated with silver nitrate and allowed to wither and drop off.


When Cause becomes a Concern

• Redness in the surrounding skin

• Discharge from the navel or the base of the umbilical cord

• Discharge is foul smelling

• If the raw spot doesn't completely close and dry up two weeks after the stump falls off

70-110 both breast per pump...

fenugreek GOT GALATIN ON IT.. !! so i dun wish to take...

my boy's cord also bleed slightly for another wk aft it dropped off. yes its normal, just keep it clean.

any mommies here as cruel as me? now my boy last diaper change is abt 9-10pm after that unless he poos at nite, i no longer change his diaper at every nite feeding. i find that i get more sleep like tat since i may arouse him to wake up at times when i chg his diaper n takes me some time to make him fall asleep again. so his nite diaper last from 9pm to 7am! im using pamoers n so far so good no leakage n no diaper rash

u also got lopsided breasts? my left n right used to be abt 20 ml diff only, then abt 1 wk ago the left suddenly dropped to 10-20ml only every 3 hourly! i panicked thats y started on fenugreek. after taking 3 x 3 pills within 48 hrs supply went back up now its back to abt 20-30ml diff from my right. of course during the course i pump religiously every 2 hrs then latch baby more on left afyer he starts pulling my nipple then i know the flow is v slow i switched him to my right. after latching pump again. so i think i latch n pump 2 hourly with the help of fenugreek it went back to normal now.
 
btw, its very common for one side to hv higher yield than the other side la actually. so if u dun mind its ok la but it bothers me!

He's also on Pampers, and also no leakage no rash. And I notice he don't seem to pee much at night also. Next time easy to toilet train!!

In a bid to increase the supply on my left side, I only latched K on the left side during the nite (2 feeds) and then now have to wake 2hrs earlier than usual to pump cos my right side sooooo painful and swollen! I couldn't even lift my right arm lor!! It was THAT BAD! While I was lying in bed nursing K, I kept squirming cos the pain was so bad. When I wanted to get out of bed, it was like I was handicapped cos I couldn't use my right arm to support myself and get out of bed.

170ml from the right boob lor! Then J happened to wake earlier today also, and he finished all of it with 60ml of FM added into the bottle so he would have enough. Heng he never complain abt the FM. Phew.

I have learnt my lesson. Tonight onwards I will go back to alternating sides. Otherwise every morning I will feel like my right boob is literally going to explode!

eh i been doing the same as u. for 2 or 3 nite feeds (i cant rem how many cos i so zombified!) i been feeding my left too. only once i feed my right cos if not sure explode, this morn i woke up at 6am to pump also got 150ml on my right and only 30ml on my left haha!!

Hi mummies

I have a practical question to ask. Do you bring EBM out to feed? If so, how to store/heat up? Or do you only latch on when bringing baby out?

I went out for a family dinner for the first time recently and was fumbling with the nursing shawl. I can't seem to hold baby, undo bra and latch her on properly under the shawl. In the end I just put my whole head under the shawl - so I looked like this beige bump in the restaurant the whole time!! haha.

sory lor, i m the cruelest here. i often let sam go without diaper change for 7-8h, coz there's simply no chance! either he needs to feed NOW, or feed liao can't change or he'll puke, or he wants to sleep n disturbing him will be at ur own risk!
