*kiki*

My children oni go for compulsory jabs...no rotavirus, no flu, no chicken pox jab watever...

my eldest gal had chicken pox when she was around 8mths old. she totally recovered in 2 weeks without leaving any scar. when we brought her out after 2 weeks, no one can believe tat she juz recovered fr chicken pox. and during tat 2 weeks when she was down, life is 'normal' for her. she eats, drinks and plays as usual and no uncomfortable itch (we did applied calamine lotion for her). Seems like a breeze for her and we find it really amazing. Coz me and hub were down too, adults had a tougher time i think.

rach,
haha..maybe response better then expected u can ask for more discounts! :p

girly,
yes, its true that for chickenpox the older u get the tougher it will be. i think your gal probably didn't even realise that she had chicken pox. for chicken pox i think unless u scratch, it won't itch. so she didn't try to scratch at all?

ok... me going to KO to bed now... just finish feeding my bb. so tired today! good nite....

kiki> already asked for more.. see whats the reply..

i've never had chicken pox before!! *gasp*

Good to know that Jaelle is behaving well. Or else Auntie Shelly will have to personally go down and smack her bumbum liao!

Michelle, my living room has limited space so I am not too keen to get the bigger one. Still apprehensive about getting parklon because I still don't know if it's the quality or just the branding that is inferior to lg prime. Haiz, I think I too eng-buy 1 mat also think for so long. Hehe.

kiki

nah it's his 1st dose. he's 14.5 weeks liao. suposed to take last week but pd was away so postponed till this week.

myfavchoco, kiki

actually i wanted to do it the other way - skip pnemoccocal n take rotavirus. b/c rotavirus seems rather contagious m bbs who get it really laosai till very jialat. but clinic advised to take pneu too, so in the end took all 3. rotavirus is sweet, i think.. sam was screwing up his face n 'tasting' the medicine haha

bbq

yeah but he's 14.5 weeks liao mah, so quite a bit heavier than the other bubs here. can't believe he was born at only 2.6kg!

bbq, kiki, michelle

actually i dun want sam to flip so soon. dangerous leh

sam hates tummy time. he'll scream n turn red

pam

thanks! so is the bag useful?

ling

wah jaelle also very chubby chubby hor?

pumping...

kiki : actually, the pneumococcal isn't compulsory. It's included in the whole list of jabs that our kids have to take, but by law, only the diphtheria and measles immunisations are compulsory. ie. if you don't want to, you can refuse to vaccinate your child with everything else.

myfavchoco : rotavirus is oral. they drink it from a syringe.

actually, kids with rotavirus can land up in hospital because the diarrhoea is really quite jiatlat. they'll usually need a drip after that because they're too dehydrated.

and pneumococcal meningitis is prob one of the worse things that could happen to your baby. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUar2EIeGv8

I was wondering how they make pnuemococcal compulsory when there are a few dose at designated age and my pd allowed me to skip the one at 2 mths.

rach

thanks! tt to u soon. right now, i'm too sleepy n dun dare do internet banking!

mamato6

not as heavy as yours right? haha

he's starting to have milk strike, i think. keeps getting distracted when drinking milk.. looking ard, smiling to himself, or trying to talk to us. yest he even started crying n refusing to drink

dogs and babies

when bb on rocker on the floor, the dog will sniff bb feet and head then leave her alone
when bb 'ah-chui', the dog will be the 1st one to check her out
when i walk round the hse w a crying bb, the dog follows behind me
when i talk to bb, the dog whins .. ok this is irritating
and the dog digged out soiled diaper to tear into pieces .. this is so so irritating

bb crying, gtg ....

jul,
wah, sam is 3.5wks older then my gal. fast hor they grow?..everytime i feed my gal i will think how fast she grows, can really see and FEEL (oh our poor arms..) the difference!

angel,
i'm certain the pneumococcal is compulsory. previously it wasn't but now it is. it was in the news as well as ST. but even if the pneumococcal isn't compulsory, i wld still let my girl go for it actually. like the link u posted, meningitis is something very serious.

bbq98,
not sure about your PD, why don't u ask her? actually i think its not that she lets your skip it, but more like delay it?

sleepy wrap - my savior

Before sleepy wrap .. to pacify my crying bb, i often need to keep changing the way i carry bb until bb found one position tt she likes den she ll stop crying n stare at me. if i m lucky she ll zz after rocking for 15min. The whole process takes 1 hr or longer .. boh hua~ coz in another hr she ll wake up coz feeding time le

After i got sleep wrap .. pacifying crying bb is ez, just wrap her and she ll ko within 15 min
happy.gif

But an hr ago, i put my savior in washing machine
sad.gif

Tried all lying down positions and bb was still crying. Then i thought maybe can carry her in sleepy wrap position (upright) .. wah~ it works!! bb stopped crying the moment i put her upright n zz in 5 min

i love my wrap so so much .. **muak muak**

kiki/RE: injections
my n hub r skipping the rotavirus... initially tot of skipping pneumococcal too but it's been made compulsory. We r not going for the 6 in 1 or 5 in 1 that mummies here r talking abt too.. just taking individuals according to the schedule we were given by her 1sr PD at TMC. i guess it's really up to individuals
happy.gif

Hi mummies,
Just had a fright last night. Was drving home near 11pm with all my kids and maid along PIE. Suddenly braked when the vehicles in front all slowed suddenly. The little stone Buddha statue my hubby placed in his car fell off and hit the side of my bb's left eyebrow area. Upon reaching home, I told my maid to apply cold compresss. Luckily she cried for a while but could still drink her milk. Managed to latch her earlier this morning at 7 and she smiled at me. She's been trying to flip over this morning too. Think a bit slower than my #1 and #3. They flipped at 2 months old. #2 flipped over at 3 months old. Glad to see her trying. At least, it's a sign she's ok from last night's episode.

Sigh. Think I'd best walk in with her to the polyclinic tomorrow morning with my #2 for the compulsory pneumococcal jab and checks.

Soooo tired with waking up at 2 hour intervals to check on her since midnight.

Jul
if u call tat milk strike then mine had it few weeks already! haha... unless he is sleepy or sleeping, it takes longer time to feed him milk. but he will eventually finish all la. i think at this age they r more aware of their surrundings. mine hates to be cradled to drink milk. he will insist to be at 70deg position so he can look all around. my maid complains sometimes even hv to walk with him!

talkg abt smell of bm, i think mine smells like papaya milkshake and is v sticky if spills.

sonnigt3,

Hope ur girl is ok...

Re: Boys in Legwarmers

It seems more worth it to just buy leh... $329 for upright chest freezer versus at least $50/mth rental.

sonnigt3
Oh dear! But at least baby seems fine now, right? Your kids also learn to flip very soon leh! I recall #! did it ard 4mths, and since #2 is already 3 mths 2 wks now, most probably also will only flip ard 4mths lor. Yours 2mths can flip already!! I'm amazed, man.

Ur gal drinking 160ml or more?! Tats a lot esp she is younger than my gal. Mine only takes 100-130ml...

*Kiki*

Ya think my gal doesn't even realised tat she has the pox. No idea if it's itchy coz she didn't scratch at all.

*Jul*

Sam is really big coz bbs usually doubled their bith wt at 3rd mth and tripled at 6th mth. Bt Sam oredi tripled at 3rd mth!!

michelle, jul,
u gals ordered from crazy abt korea already? is it readystock ah? can gimme your reviews when u get it? thanks!

itsy:
i'm interested in the flea market, but may not be able to go down personally on that day. don't mind i pass my stuffs to u?

baby flipping:
my boy can turn to his side since a few weeks ago, not really flip. i put him on my bed for latching in lying down position, when i pull up my t-shirt and lie down, he is already lying on his side waiting hahaha

mid-night feeds:
is it true that girls are able to skip midnight feeds earlier than boys?

my boy woke up at 12midnite, 2+am, 4+am last nite. at 4+am, i tried to give him pacifier, he rejected, then i carried him, he slept but woke up once i put him back to cot. end up 5+am i latch him then he k.o. within 10min.

how to train him to fall asleep himself in midnight without pacifier or latching???????

kiki Thanks for sharing about your dog
happy.gif
Wow, you have a very obedient dog there!

cutedevil Hahaha, your dog so cute!!! I put diapers in a stepbin with lid, so to date, no messing around with diapers yet…:p I think my dog not interested in BB because I will ask her to come and lick baby’s feet but she just lie down on her cushion and can’t be bothered! Somemore, she’s a terrier leh!!!

Mel Woah! Your boy’s a model?

Jen I got the cream. I’ll transfer postage fee to your account later today. As for the other cream, I am afraid not suitable for me as the last time I used body shop’s mango body butter I had severe allergy, so I’m going to stick to lansinoh

paige,
thanks for your compliments. yes, i'm very proud mama of my furkid. she is very playful but still very obedient. ahem!! coz the mummy here is very good trainer mah. :p u can see some short videos of her in my FB.
happy.gif

cutedevil,
i'd faint if my dog digs the bin for my gal's soiled diapers and shread it into pieces. my gal doesn't dare to take anything (other then her own toys), not even food from the table without permission even if its within her reach.

Mel,
Yup. She seems fine. Thank you.
Your boy's a really good-looking model!
happy.gif

Shelled,
She just puked all over me after I latched and burped her around 1pm. Could even smile at me when I ticked her off. Guess she's ok though I see the bruise on her face.
Actually was hoping that she doesn't flip so soon like the others cos I'm worried for her safety if my maids are not watching her closely. My hubby likes to put her on a mattress on the floor cos he says no point setting up the cot and have a repeat of what happened to my #1. #1 learnt to climb around 14 months old and fell headlong out of the cot when the maid was just cleaning next to her. Had to rush her to A&E back then. On top of that, we already have a big playpen taking up so much space in the living room. That aside, my parents said I flipped over at 2 months old when I was a baby. Guess my kids take after me in that aspect.
happy.gif

Mel, your boy very stylo.

Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine
==============================
Protects against:
Pneumococcal disease (PD), caused by the streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. Pneumococcus is the leading cause of pneumonia (lung infection), meningitis, bacteraemia (blood infection), acute otitis media (ear infection) and sinusitis (infection of the sinuses) in children aged two months to five year old. Pre-schoolers and day care students are at especially high risk of PD. PD can lead to death and the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) is the most effective way to prevent its spread. The vaccine can also significantly reduce ear infections.

Four doses are given: at two, four and six months old. PCV is given to children aged nine years and below so an older child who has missed vaccination may still receive one dose.

So, what I meant was how they are going to implement it and make it mandatory because once your child misses the 2 mth, 4 mth etc dose, you won't need to take those doses. Then he will just need to take the remaining doses. Anyway, according to the MOH website, they are still working on the implementation plan for this vaccine.

Flipping
========
So babies usually will flip between 2-4 mths? I also agree, the later they flip, the easier it will be for us. By the way, once they have learnt how to flip, do they flip when they sleep? If so, won't it be dangerous?

waiwai,
i'm not sure if its true that girls are able to skip midnight feeds earlier than boys, whats the logic? lol. but my gal now last feed is 12mn, then next feed which is when she auto wake up herself is between 5-6.30am. so is this considered sleep thru the night already? but my gal does need her pacifier to sleep lor. even afternoon also need for naps, unless she is swinging in her swing to sleep then she wouldn't need the pacifier.

bbq98,
from my understanding and i did call the NHG to enquire. they told me that pnneumococcal jabs are taken at 3, 5 and 18mths. is it 4 jabs? unless i heard wrongly. my PD scheduled my gal to take the 1st jab at slightly pass 3mths old. i will ask her again if its 3 or 4 jabs. maybe u can check with yours too
happy.gif
then we can share the info here.
