Morning All

sleepless nights
people telling me that it is to prepare us for the night feedings when bb is born, which i think quite true also. hehehehe

jul
try not to scratch your tummy, if not will become very ugly on the tummy part. try to use some calamine lotion n keep cool. I realised when hot, will become more itchy.

This morning i woke up n the back is so achy that i fee pain when i raise up my hand or bend. So got to get hb to rub some deep heat cream from gynae n feels so much better.

Shirley/Mashy, those thin thin receiving blankets r gd for wrapping the bb.

Pegfur, i fully understand wher u are coming from.. sometimes we just duno howcome their 'bad' habit returns.. hahaha.... my boy does the same too... (btw, i dun address him as my dog cos he is more like a family member)

tulips

i woke up with a leg cramp this morn.
sad.gif
So painful and it won't go away for a long long time. Till now still can feel the achy calve and can't really walk well.
sad.gif

Wanted to go taka today actually, but have to cancel that.

weishy,

I oso kpo in the july thread and saw some mummies popped already. Some of u might think i'm obsessed with bb's weight and it's crazy to want to fatten up bb at this stage. But i'm just scared i'll pop earlier too. I mean i sort of predict bb shld be of ok weight if i give birth in full term, but i just want bb to have a better weight now in case he comes out earlier.

mashy:hehheheheh i hope mah :p my HAYLEY"S very nice to me ma kekekkekekke.
wishful one i think

mashy, try those deep heat cream? Might lessen the pain abit (i feel)

oh yah, today taka got extra 10% for members. But till Sunday, so you still got 3 more days to chiong. heheheh

BTW, how do you all feel/prepare for the H1N1, cos from the news etc is saying like pregnant woman are high risk n they duno the implications of it. So it sounds so scary.....

tulips

there's nothing we can really do abt the H1N1 leh... Yah, we're high risk, but other pp needs to be considerate lor, if not whatever protection we try to do also no use. Khaw Boon Wan actually advised up to put on mask!

Maybe for those taking the trains/bus, u should waer the N95 mask when travelling.

mashy, yah lor. My mum still ask me not to go out too much etc... I told her i still gotta take train home after work leh, cant be everyday also stay at home ma.... Haiz, why the H1N1 has to surfaced? & of all times now????

Tomorrow i taking leave for the GD test & maybe will pop by Taka after that. Any mummies going tmr?

lawshe
Hahaha .. ya, same... my coalie is oso my furry daughter, and my mum calls herself grandma to my coalie too.

tulips
Hiaz ... stupid H1N1 lah ... i just got message that 1 guy from the next office building kena it le. Wonder how many pple wld have been infected by him. Just thinking of the crowded lifts during morning and lunch hours is enough to make me scared. Luckily hubby has not remind me to hold my breath in the lift .. hahaha
happy.gif

cloudme

u should, coz u really don't know who's on the train and if they're infected. Coz not all will have symptoms. My hb said, that even the 7 days quarantine is useless coz they found that for those who were discharged after recovering from H1N1, they were still infectious. They want to create herd immunity and letting it spread to everyone. At our expense lor. So we will have to be more careful. good thing we're nearly at the end of our preg already. So just need to 'dong' another 1-2mths.

mashy
go n buy e cream when u pick ur boy later?
i was aching quite badly last night til i applied some cream too. after that, it was a bliss.

re:h1n1
the reason they are concern abt it affecting preggy is coz there was a case of a preggy lady who contracted it in canada n gave birth at 32wks. she later died from some birth complications. so the health authorities are not sure if it was due to the effect of h1n1.
anyway when i flew back on monday, there was this couple who wore mask thru the entire flight n use those hand sanitising lotion ev time after they touched something foreign. quite a comical sight.

mashy,

i dun take train only bus...

but hor the n95 mask is real pain to wear...

luckily hb going to drive me to work on alternate days from next mth onwards...

think have to endure days he is not driving with the mask...

morning!

re h1n1 : luckily we only have 1mth+ before delivering.. cant imagine if we are still early in our pregnancy! think preggies have higher mortality rates and higher risk of complications eg pneumonia and pregnancy related complications eg preterm labour, miscarriage. have decided to wear at least surgical mask when going to a/c places or taking public transport.

mashy, find ur hb quite familiar leh.. which line is he in/where is he working ah?

cloud
my hp is on ar? i din rec any call or msg from her? nvm will drop her a msg. in fact i did msg her ydae

yesh yesh still on this evening. i'll msg kiki again coz she has not replied me

mashy,

Oh, ya blanket, but most of the time i will carry cloth diaper to be used as blanket and changing mat.

Oh one more thing! Handkerchief (X4)

H1N1
I getting paranoid nowadays cos i still have not fully recovered from my last flu. But I don't think i will want to wear the N95 mask on train cos it looks comical. Maybe should wait for hubby to fetch me home from work everyday for these few weeks just to be safe...

But Spore has no cases of pregnant woman infected right?

tas

a few preg women died already.
sad.gif
Think also coz preg women can't take tamiflu. I guess can't be helped lah. Can't be too careful right? Maybe the lady is preg too? Or have some other sicknesses?

cloudme
yah, bus....

jules
he's in healthcare stat board. Very near the hospital.
sad.gif

tulips
i think looks are secondary lor. Our own safety is more important. Singapore should cultivate a culture of wearing masks. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Yes, Singapore hasn't had any cases of preg women infect YET. But that doesn't mean it won't happen.

tulips, think so far no cases of preggies infected. but dun wanna be the first! surgical mask is gd enough for prevention of h1n1 right? must use n95 only ah?

jules

u need the N95 to prevent getting infected by others. Normal surgical mask can only prevent u from spreading your germs to others but not the other way round.

Hi gals,

Long time i din come in..was busy wif work.
Started packing my hosp bag, erm...got a qn, saw a chklist somewhere, saying to pack '1 old loose Tee-shirt" . What is that for?

Really puzzling.

yen

i think that's for foreign countries where the hospital gown is not provided for? Then u wear the old loose t shirt when you're in the delivery suite?

tas

can meh? I remember reading that cannot take. Unless u wanna take risk on your bb lor.

Yah, u better go prepare the masks. Japan is also infected with H1N1. Better use on the plane too.

mashy, tamiflu is a pregnancy category c medication (ie not tested in preggies) but cdc has found that it shld still be given to preggies who contract h1n1 to decrease risk of complications.

taken from cdc website http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/recommendations.htm:

Pregnant Women
Pregnant women are known to be at higher risk for complications from infection with seasonal influenza viruses, and severe disease among pregnant women was reported during past pandemics. Cases of confirmed novel (H1N1) influenza virus infection in pregnant women resulting in severe disease have been reported, and a pregnant woman died in 1988 after being infected with another type of swine influenza virus. Oseltamivir and zanamivir are "Pregnancy Category " medications, indicating that no clinical studies have been conducted to assess the safety of these medications for pregnant women. Although a few adverse effects have been reported in pregnant women who took these medications, no relation between the use of these medications and those adverse events has been established. Pregnancy should not be considered a contraindication to oseltamivir or zanamivir use.

despite everything, still best not to contract h1n1 anyway la.. sigh..

think better go get n95 since surgical mask doesnt protect effectively..
sad.gif

tas, i think u really v brave leh.. still flying here and there despite all these swine flu scares.. even when taking cab i also feel scared abt catching the stupid bug.

mashy/pegs
hmmm so cannot take tamiflu ar? maybe in those more severe cases then they take bah.. not sure liao le...

mashy
yeah will prep the mask but i think my ger will attempt to pull it off when i wear it... dun think she will wanna wear mask either.. hehehe

Tas,

me also troubled on wat to eat...
maybe u gals wanna go thru the list for f&b store in TM/century square/tampines 1?

jules

i hope they'll send my hb to work from home under the crisis mgt plan... He's in high risk group, so better he stay at home too. Quite worried coz he takes the train everyday to work and his stop is at the hospital where all the patients go.
sad.gif

mashy, ya agree that got risk on baby still.. but guess the drs train of thought is awlays to save mother first lor. anything happen to mother, baby will also be in danger lor..

tas

yah, kids won't wanna wear masks... i have a few kiddy surgical masks from Unity last time, but my boy refused to wear them esp when he's sick. So better don't go crowded places when you're there.

tas, think dun have n95 small enough to fit ur girl leh. anyway n95 quite hard for her to pull off if u are wearing it properly hehehe..

mashy, i can understand ur worries cos i am also in healthcare line myself.. but now on mc cos of my severe backpain. hb worried ++ for me cos i really come into lots of contact with patients and hence v high risk of contracting it.. so keep telling me to just take mc/al till i pop.. but that means exhausting all my leave for the year! dunno what to do..

jules
true lah. But mothers' pt of view is always the bb. U think any mom will risk putting their kid in danger unless they're at the brink of death?

mashy, ya lor.. really a double edged sword.. so what we can do is wear masks to protect ourselves, and load up on high doses of vit c to boost immunity!

actually i took a cat c med myself b4 i knew i was expecting my girl too.. really freaked me out but my gyne was so cool about it.. luckily everything turned out fine.

jules
mi too gungho lar... but no choice coz got stuff to settle else i also lazy to carry my ger ard.. even my gynae think i siao.. haha

cloud
too many things in tampines to eat. i like the jap thingy at tampines 1 but the queue is horrific.

jules

maybe can get your gynae to give u HL? hehe. Yah, if you;re in contact with the patients, then better to stay away. Perhaps your co is looking into the continguency plans already since it's healthcare line. I know my hb's co is calculating the no of affected staff (from high risk group) to see if it's feasible to remove them from the frontline or not. So now is just wait and see lor.

good morning mummies

long time no post here, hope everyone is well.

Just wondering whether has most of you sign up for Cordlife? I saved my #1's cord blood and I still have not decided whether to sign for #2. Anyone saved all their babies' cord blood?

mashy:but hv to warn u maybe she'll be a active one kekekkekke.think its due to my genes la.looked tough and cannot be bully type but always kenna big time

jules
yeah no mask small enuff for my ger n dun think she wanna wear.. but pris mentioned japan does sell kiddy ones so prolly go there buy n try on her?

mashy
agree lor.. mums will always protect their kids regardless of putting their own lives in danger.

mashy, already on HL.. if rely on mc i dont have enough lor.. i just feel v paiseh to take such a long period of HL lor. but hb keeps nagging! argh..

i'm pretty sure no such contingency plans for my dept..
sad.gif
if i'm not at work, i cant work at all. no such thing as work from home cos it's not admin related.

nd's girl, i didnt save #1's cord blood, but storing for #2! intend to store #3's cord blood if i have one more. since cord blood banking usually more useful for siblings and not for the child herself anyway.
