(2009/07) July 2009 MTBs

Mashy,
ghess need to send your MIL to the polyclinc to let the nurse educate her.

well at least that was what i did when #1 goes thru weaning.

Get the "Me-cc" to tell them why the kids cannot take the seasonings.

She never taste your gal's food before?

I suggested my MIL to taste a spoonful of my gal's food before and she said it herself its tasty even without any seasonings.

i know some natural seasonings to make porridge tasty.. e.g. Onions - sweet, Garlic - salty,

Re: Baby monitor,

I tred the analog ones its not really that useful for me cos I stay in a 5-room unit.

Room - kitchen/ living room is not far, when baby wails sure can hear, thus the baby monitor was not useful.

Unless you stay is dbl/ multiple storey houses or baby does not sleep with you at night.

There is those motion sensor baby monitor, placed under the mattress. Saw them before at Robinsons.

Re: Baby Monitor,

I use the Angel one and I think that is the one SUNSWEET mentioned with the motion sensor placed under the mattress. I gave up on the sensor cos it kept going off when my baby moved out of position and so the sensor thought the baby hasn't moved for long time (infant cot death) so kept going off. But the audio part is really good...reception is good and very loud. We once went to Lombok and my girl was upstairs sleeping while we were at the poolside which was about 2 villas away and there was still reception

Another of my friend has the video monitor/audio one (can't remember which brand) and she said not bad..

lamagier
i agree tat so far petite bowl food is not bad for kids =) \i try them once and i must say they taste almost like those freshly prep... i say ALMOST LOL

What kind of onions can be added to baby porridge? The large ones?

My boy confirm yellowish bcos he eats carrot every meal. I don't know what to replace carrot. Here's what his porride has: carrot, fish, sweet potato/pumkin, spinach.

I think my boy gets bore with the menu already. I have to top up with his fav papaya before u would open his mouth.

peanut,
think beetroot, potato, sweetcorn, peas all viable options. just that corn and pea need to remove shell =p banana for fruit?

paisay, my menu selection also very boring. maybe wait for our resident chef hbb to give some suggestion

peanut
maybe want to cut down the yellow food to once or twice a week. carrots, pumpkin n papaya all cause skin to be yellow. can replace with brocoli, cauliflower, cabbage, peas, etc.

bestberries, the video suppose to be able to 'see' even when the light off I supposed. using the IR may be. Kim, how about yours?
I usually turn on the aircon for the room and all the doors are closed when the baby sleep. so with the TV on and another noisy toddler, she will need to wail very very loud till we can hear. that's y I decided that I will get a baby monitor lorr... thanks so much for all your feedback.

Peanut
use the large yellow onions, milder than red ones.

U can try French beans, asparagus, etc. All the green leafy veg too. Potato also.

gg to try tomato n french beans nxt.
bt tomato aso will make bb yellowish.

i onli try sweet potato n normal potato once...

u cn aso try pearl bean (bt i cant find it at superart lately)

Lamagier, I must say It's not easy to remove the skin for sweet corn. I tried the method of slicing the edge of the corn with a knife and scrubbing off the flesh with a spoon. Not easy at all, somemore I bought the supper sweet white and yellow ones, very nice but wasted most.

Occasionally I use potato. I shall bake some this weekend

For peas, my maid said he didn't like. Not sure why. Too bland?

How do u prepare beetroot? I like it raw though.

Bbethan, ya lah, all the 3 yellow foods always in his meal. Any food to make bb look more pinkish and radiant? Woahhhhh.

Mashy, thanks!

Asparagus has this vein thingy when I try to smash it after cooked. Did I overcook it? Or did I buy the wrong breed?

peanut
the corn... u slice out whole kernel n steam first then blend... use the sieve forcookin noodles to sieve out e skin.normal sieve is too small!! peas aso same method... i try e method u mention.not easy and v unhygiene cos cook food yet need to handle it like tat...waste alot of corn also...

mayb peas taste v green.u cn camou e taste by addin a slice of cheese in e porridge.

nw i try to giv her at least a pc of cheese a day.sometimes for both meal cos she dn get to drink milk for lunch n dinner anymore...

hbb
tomato will make one yellow?
i thought that will give the glow?

i still couldnt get my beetroot right. still hard like stone after cooking. when choosing beetroot, is it supposed to be hard or soft?

peanut
i'm a lazy person. i buy those frozen corns/peas n steam n use blender to chop up. i can't be bothered to remove the shells.

peanut
i tink its e skin of the asparagus u r tokin about. d u cook it whole or u break it into pieces then cook? for this i break into pieces before i cook.still gt a bit fiberous aft cookin bt i fed edna w it all the same =p

buy e thin one if possible.less fiberous

I don't have a good blender. My 8yr old mini blender is only good for making chicken rice chilli etc. (Have to start with chunks and can't blend finely.)

I give cheese as snack, ok will try to add as topping to the pea porridge. East meet West! (Pea shell slightly easier to remove...Heng)

I got the large asparagus and cook as whole. Noted on your advise and yes I think someone here mentioned abt getting the thinner ones previously. I 不听话 lah...

Etirto, I'm using the Phillip 2way bb monitor. There will be noise interference if the fan blows at it. Sensitively can be adjusted. The zzzrrrrxxx sound u mentioned could it come from the air con fan when it blasts?

Peanut,
I just mash it up and feed. I will remove the corn outer shell. But my mum only use the corn to add flavour to the porridge, she doesn't feed it to baby.

Else can try the si shen powder? I was reding the ingredients cos go free sample. Got brown rice, lotus root etc.

By the way, can babies eat lotus roots? Xiao bai cai? Cai Xin? I'm also getting bored of only cooking spinach and worried about the nitrates thing

Hbb,
Wah piang, you glutton? Where you hide the food? I also want to be gluton and be as skinny

bbethan
i tink hor beetroot wun b soft n mashy one leh... usualy i use spoon to cut to small piece while feeding.

peanut
LOL
the big asparagus v hard to chew manz...

lamagier
i tot of giving kailan n etc for edna..but dh claim wait got poison! arghh... realy puke blood when tok to him..he scare of insecticide n etc fr china!! LOL
lotus root can eat lar!! yummmm

i hide all food in tummy..so tummy buldging LOL

peanut

if u use the big asparagus, u need to skin it. The skin is tough...

HBB
I've used xiao bai cai and cai xin before. Don't buy China one lah. I buy those from local farms or Malaysia farms. Yili is good.

spotlight is having discounts from tomorrow till 4 jul on party stuff. U may wanna hop over to see see.

Balloons are $10 for a 100 pack. Cheap!

peanut, is yours digital or analogue?
btw, my gal also doesn't like peas, even when I add cheese. But she can take other veg with 'green' taste, like brocoli. She dislike pasta also, wasted my money buying the star organic pasta. book says got to try 10x at least before the baby can accept the food or not. hmmmppp...

hbb, I also use kailan. my hb says the same thing because they put lots of insectiside for kailan. but as long as we wash properly should be ok bah...coz me myself prefer kailan then xiao baicai or caisim.

Today, I went IMM. so happy found a collete factory outlet. the shoes can be as cheap as $5 liao!!!! that is a good brand for shoes. bought 1 pair size 22 for $19.90, meant for 12-18M size. when I tried it on her, it's just nice. I think in 2 mths time can't wear already. haiz. even now she can wear the pediped size 12-18m already...although looks a bit like mickey mouse shoes, bit unproportional. somemore I got 2 pairs! She really like the pink penny ballet shoes, after tried it on her, she cried when I took it out! so vain....everyday, she likes to open her drawer that store her shoes, and try it on 1 by 1 and start walking. she's very happy.ok so defenetly she got my gene... anyway, I bought the sizes that supppose to last her till she's 2.5 yrs old. kekeke

oh ya, forgot to ask something.
mummies who use Mac laren Day tripper, Quest or Triump. is the pouch at the back very limited? the XT that I have, got 1 mesh pouch at the top and 1 solid pouch at the bottom so quite sufficient to store things. I'm thinking to buy the Maclaren universal organizer (the one with the bottle holder). Just wondering, how to fold the stroller with the organizer attach? or do I need to take it down first?

mashy, wanna sell me your day tripper...?hehehe,since you mentioned you prefer your peg perego....I got limited budget. so do u use the organizer with it?

etirto

haha, can't sell to u lah. Using it for my marketing when only my gal is around. The Peg is used when i've to handle 2 kids. Maybe u can still look ard for it? Or Quest? I dun use the organiser coz gotta buy. hehe.

any idea, whether can fold the stroller with the organizer attach? if need to take out then very mafan hor. btw, there is bp seller selling it at $28 only liao

Found this inside my newly opened friso 2. Looks and feels like half a peanut. The pp from friso are collecting it tom and going to check to see what it is.

Hi ETirto,

I'm using a Quest now. There's a small pouch at the back and a mesh basket at the bottom. After putting in the raincover, there's not much space left - I usu squeeze in maybe 1 or 2 more small toys. I just leave the pouch there (with the stuff inside unless it's fragile) when I fold the stroller.

Have been thinking of buying an organiser but dunno if will use much. Do u have the link for the BP?

Re baby monitor, I'm using a Philips digital one - don't experience any interference except the sound from the fan sometimes. But it's ok once I turn the monitor or fan away a bit.

Mashy, oh no. Shouldn't bb food preparation be more caution esp it's a commercialize product. I hope they have a very good explaination, but then again so what if they have.
Hope it's only a 1-time accident and don't contaminate other tins or the whole line of production with other foreign objects. Do update us on what they say.

Etirto, regarding digital and analog. Digital is more accurate and precise like pulse signal, while analog is more of an estimation and wave signal. if you want to hear clearly what noise bb is making with lesser noise, choose a digital one. If u want video, must take digital one. Take for example digital and analog weighing scale, or a digital and analog oven temperature control.

I will let u know what's mine when I get home.

peanut, thanks! just managed to get the digital one with video. kekeke...now hunting for maclaren stroller.
the stuff at kaki bukit baby hypermart is not cheaper, right? I remember sometime ago someone mentioned that she was going there to buy the stroller. who ah? how is it?

ETirto, Kaki Bukit Maclarens only cheaper for past season colours/materials. I remember browsing there some time back but wasn't really paying attention to the different models, only know that there was one orange colour Maclaren for $199 because it was old stock.

Mothercare has 15% off Maclaren XT, Quest Sport, Triumph. Not sure if Mothercare cardholders have 10% additional off (which is the case for their clothes). You can go check it out.

Huh, you went hkg ah? Did Mia sleep through the flight? Or did she happily being entertained by the passengers?

ETirto,
I've used the Maclaren organizer with the Quest; it folds into the stroller when u close it, no need to remove.

peanut
laughin cow chese is very salty IMO
i knw some mummies do giv to babies... but i personally dun.. very subjective hehe... i dun wan overload edna w salt hehe.. i still prefer president cheese
its not so salty.. but its not exactly tasteless
ppl tink its tasteless becos they are so used to salty stuff... so if i giv edna laughing cow.. she might end up rejecting president one.. so i dun wan open the flood gate
but in sch or at parties whens he is being offered laughign cow cheese i still allow her to eat.. cos its jus a 1 time thgy =)

Japa
