(2009/03) March 2009 MTBs

Pinkdemoness,
You can take a cab, come to upper changi(simei) then last stop we fetch queeniw at Tampines which is quite near my place. From her place, we can go TPE to hougang -serangoon. We took this route before, just that previously the trip originated from Bedok South :>

Who need convincing on Connecta Solarweave? So far so good leh.... everywhere I go, i draw stares..hee like how come bb can carry like that n my girl though got sensitive skin slept quite well in it n knowing that it has UV protection makes me feel safe when she's in the vechicle. I just put the hood on and her eyes are protected. No regrets so far but I would say the pikkolo and connecta design is slightly easier to use as the thicker material provides more structure.

Sleep Workshop 29th May 11am-2.30pm @ Shelford Road, capped at 20 people so that we have ample time to ask questions.
All other mums also invited to come after 12.30pm to shop and chit chat.

Hey mommies,

Found a quiz on finding out your baby's temeperament - not entirely accurate cos can be combination of 2 types or more, but it's quite interesting nonetheless.

The know your baby quiz

Angel, Textbook, Touchy, Spirited, Grumpy

Angel: The kind of baby every pregnant woman dreams of: good as gold. Mellow, eternally smiling, and consistently undemanding. Cues are easy to read. Not bothered by new surroundings and is extremely portable. Feeds, plays, and sleeps easily, and usually doesn’t cry when wakes up. You’ll find Angel babies babbling in their crib most mornings, talking to a stuffed animal or being amused by a stripe on the wall. Will often calm itself down and is easily snuggled if overtired. Will put self to sleep.

Textbook: Predictable baby, and fairly easy to handle. Does everything on cue, so there are few surprises. Baby reaches all the milestones right on schedule - sleeps through the night by three months, rolls over by five, sits up by six. Has growth spurts like clockwork - periods where appetite suddenly increases due to extra weight or developmental leap. Can play on its own for short periods at just a week old, coos and looks around a lot. Smiles when smiled at. Has normal cranky periods, but is easy to calm and not hard to put to sleep.

Touchy: The ultrasensitive baby (a ’sensie’ as Dr. Dorian might say on Scrubs) whose world is full of sensory challenges. Flinches at the sound of a motorcycle outside, the TV, dog barking, etc. Blinks and turns head away from bright light. Sometimes cries for no apparent reason, even at mom. Gets fussy after a number of people have held him/her, or after an outing. Will play on own for a few minutes, but needs reassurance someone like mom or dad is close by. Nurses erratically. Has difficulty falling asleep. Easily gets off schedule because their systems are so fragile. Swaddling is important.

Spirited: This baby emerges from womb knowing what he/she likes and doesn’t like, and won’t hesitate to let you know it. Very vocal and even aggressive sometimes. Screams for mom and dad when gets up in the morning, hates laying in own pee or poop and announces this by boisterously vocalizing his/her discomfort. Babbles a lot, and loudly. Body language tends to be a bit jerky. Often needs swaddling to get to sleep because flailing arms and legs keep baby up and overstimulated. If he/she starts crying and the cycle is not interrupted, baby will reach a fever pitch of rage.

Grumpy: “I have a theory that grumpy babies have been here before - they’re old souls… and they’re not all that happy to be back.” This baby is mad at the world and lets you know it. Grumpy babies whimper every morning, don’t smile much during the day, and fuss their way to sleep every night. Hates baths at first, as well as changing time. Feeding is difficult because of fidgity, cranky disposition. To calm a grumpy baby, it usually takes a patient mom or dad, because these babies get very angry and their cries are particularly loud and long.

Alfafa,

Heh, I also dunno how to help your bb go to sleep. I am having so many problems with mine, but it's now mainly due to his awful temper than his habits. I am the one who needs help!!!

me "forced" to be SAHM coz hsbd posted overseas, sob...

koala,
on settling meals, i would try to prepare and cook when baby is sleeping, and also cook extra so there's leftovers. for eg.
- dinner: rice, cook soup, fry vegetables and meat
- breakfast: takeaway or bread/biscuits
- lunch: use leftover soup for noodles or leftover rice for fried rice
for dinner, i would sometimes cook in the afternoon when baby is sleeping, then just use an electric steamer to heat up when close to dinner time. and i would also chop all the ingredients up when baby is sleeping, then when cooking, just need to dump the stuff in. would prefer not to hv to cook either, but no choice, coz #1 needs to eat too.

seems like a number of u gg back to work on 8un...me too woah...i've just taken 3 months of ML and leave my last month untouched....see when can take then take again....

jtho - i oso fed FM to my boy initially, i.e the early days in the hospital and at home...it was after MS starts being established that i stop giving it....and bon vogage on yr trip...
missycandy - seeing yr post makes me tear too...i'm getting EMO as well....it will be too soon before babies reach the next milestone...soon they will all grow up and we will miss cuddling them...sobz! i can absolutely understand the feeling too! Jus hope that they will be close to us still when they grow up.

areya - interesting facts u got there....something good to learn about babies and how to deal with them...i'm wondering which category my boy falls under....hmm....

Pups
Abit bored at home because my mum fighting with me to look after Anver. She and my dad quite love children and everytime she will say:" You don't know how to look after children." Than i was thinking, you always want to take over to look after where do i have the chance to leaarn.

Missycandy
Although very much i want to get the solarwave connecta but cannot lor. Hb and my mum will be scolding m.
sad.gif
My mum saw my jap carrier already started t make comment. Wahaha.....i had been hiding that jap carrier from my mum.:p

Afcai
Luckily my elder son go cc during daytime if not i will be going crazy too looking after 2 of them. Some more my elder son get jeolous easily, he don't want me to carry his didi some times.

Aiyo......i was about to ask mummies whose children had go to cc. Does your child always fall sick like runnuing nose and cough? My son every now and than either running nose, cough or both lor. So worry that taking so much medicine not good. I gave up BF is due to stress from my mum and lack of sleep lor. Anver was coughing and my mum blame on my breastmilk.

Jtho
Enjoy your trip.

Pumpkinseed,
Oh, those jazzy toes socks. They are the ones I was mentioning to you when we met the last time. Baby K has a box of the mary jane designs and the sizes are definitely bigger than the pair of mary jane socks A was wearing at Vivo that day.

Afcai,
You just echoed my concerns. I am tbf as well and the thought of work stress, coping with a baby and a toddler, bf and pumping.... just hope I maintain my sanity.

pinkdemoness, jtho,
When I stopped pumping at 8 months the last time, I felt totally liberated and kind of didn't know what to do with the extra time on hand! haha.

pinkdemoness,
Please don't feel like you are not giving baby the best. With awareness in food technology, FM these days are just as good, I believe.

Idaarshad
Just saw your BP got new design for the jap carrier....alamak should get it later. I like the jeans material and design. Best of all it is zipper type. When i open up the velcro, my son will wake up immediately coz it give out very loud sound.

Kome,
Oh... cos I stay in my own house so I have to juggle everything on my own. I am going to my parents' place a little more often these days cos baby is getting more responsive so let her go there and play and get some stimulation also good. But that only makes me busier cos the amount of time I have in my own house is lesser but I still have as much chores to do!

Yes, it is true that kids that go cc will fall sick more often. That happens to my boy too. We are getting so used to running around with him wiht a piece of tissue to wipe his nose or make him blow out his mucus. *sweat* The worse is to deal with his stuffy nose when he is sleeping. *double sweat*

HUH?! What has Anver's cough got to do with your bm???

kome,
u r rite abt kids falling sick at cc. my #1 attends part-time cc too (back in seoul) and she gets runny nose and cough very often. i dun give her any medication for it though, unless it persists for more than a week. like u said, dun think it's good for them to take too much medicine at this age. they should try to fight the sickness off by themselves, and only take the medicine if really necessary.

Emmum
My son cough or running nose always last for more than a week which make me kinda worried too. Coz coughing for long might lead to asthma.

Kome try bring him to chinese doctor. Bring him to "You Guo" chinese doctor, they have doctor with good experience in taking care of babies and give message to relieve their sick. But hor must go early if you're going weekends. Wednesday they are closed.
Here is the address: 8B Jalan Masjid #01-04 Kingston Terrace.
Tel: 6447 4761

kome,
yar, that's my worry too, tat the cough and runny nose may hv long term effects. biggest headache now is that my #2 gets it too. he's had a viral infection in the 2nd month. now he's still having runny nose and phlegm. so much for bfeeding boosting babies' immunity, mine in on tbf and still got sick.

Jasmine
I had tried "You Guo" for my elder son when hi about 9 or 10 months. Not effective on him.

Emmum
Haha.....i had told my hb the same thing before. I told him that Anver drank my BM longer than his elder brother but 2 months old only and he got cough, worse than his elder bro who had drank my BM last than 40 days. Some more he drank more while his brother i gave very little.

Kome,
Jaz was sick when 5wks old, coughing away cos of the elder one caught flu and cough from playgroup. My mum also blamed on my BM. So sian. I quited bf due to stress and both gals sick too. I think normal to see the one at CC to be sick and the younger one kena. I just bought my elder one for flu vaccine before she start CC in June. U might want to try that, no guarantee 100% won't get virus. But some prevention. 3 yo need to take two jabs.
