jtho - wow... but then im sure ur hubby wans olivier to see his side of the family... maybe wait til this swine flu has died down? hmmm... though olivier looks tough... immunity is still building... babies once sick no joke leh... heartpain money gone but yes money cn always be earned back... health more impt... unless ur hubby's grandma also getting on in age and wld like to see great grand child ? maybe u cn speak to ur in laws... get their views... =)

My flight to US is next Tues and I am still going. Not sure if this helps u in ur decision. Heh... The only thing is i am cancelling my internal holiday cos my original plan was to go New York and Eastern Canada.

I think it is alright as long as u and ur hb feels comfortable with going and pls make sure u keep up with the hygeine level.
 
BTW mummies, does ur babies hv wet mucus in the nose? My gal has it n I wonder if the aircon is the culprit? Can hear the noise when she breathe too hard or during crying

I am doing total pumping. Yes, i can see that my MS getting lesser and lesser. Although i am doing total pumping but i am trying to give FM only. I will not be doing breastfeeding, so i don't mind my MS getting lesser as it is my aim too.

My boy has wet mucus also, when he cried he make sound like pig. Yes, aircon has cause children to have difficulty in breathing so i seldom on aircon for him anymore.

we're going back to see Olivier's granny (hubby's mum), not hubby's granny... hehe... and yes, she's already 70+, so of course would like to see her grandson...

u r really brave... actually my concern is not so much when we are there, cos we will normally stay at home and avoid crowded place. my worry is the 13 hrs flight in the enclosed cabin. dunno wat kind of pple will be in the same flight

I think money can be earn back like u say..even now I am avoiding to bring my BB to crowded area during weekends..as I thought better be safe than sorry esp when their immunity is still so fragile at their age... but its really up to you and your family...

My boy also have mucus in him and I can hear him snore at night...But my PD he said its normal for babies at their age cos their respiratory tract is narrow so just a bit mucus will cause some blockage to them...but its not of much concern..so he jus gave me some nose drop for him if the sound bothers me...

how many weeks already since u're doing total pumping? wonder how long my BM will last if i do total pumping..
I also plan to switch to total FM but still hopinh to continue BM at least until my bb reaches 2.5-3months

now i only pump 3 times a day, MS is very low now and i already accepted the fact that if i cannot continue to give BM, at least i have tried for 2 mths liao... now i give EBM to Olivier in the day and FM from 7pm to 7am. my daily yield is abt 300ml now. in fact i would rather MS go down totally since it is so low now, then i no need to pump anymore (bad mummy!)

btw, in case my MS goes down to zero, i would like to let go of the blue egg milk bags (3 boxes), neurogain (4 bottles) and fenugreek (4 bottles) that i still have. anyone interested do PM me.
 
jtho - what u cn do is maybe let him suckle once a day? i stopped pumping long ago.. as well as bfing... becos my supply really pathetic... then.. also becos of my massage... now i jus let her suckle once a day... usually at night b4 bed time... let her suckle... then after that give her FM... then make her go to sleep... i jus started doing it recently... hope it will help to settle her in bed...

i'm doing total pumping. BB juz wouldnt suckle. Oni give 30% BM and supplement the rest with FM. MS still the same simce Day 1. Will continue and see how.

My son had wet mucus when he's ard 5 weeks. Went PD & PD say he has nose allergy (sensitive nose), My hubby and I both have sensitive noses. We didnt let him sleep in aircon since week 2.

So tempted to join. But I dun have the guts to go out alone with BB. My son's cries is really loud, and he has kind of a temper.

i dare not let Olivier suckle anymore cos abt 2 weeks ago, he was like addicted to my breast and always cry and refuse anything we gave him before going to sleep, just wanted my breast. it was so scary, like drug addict. i see already so heartpain... so now since he has forgotten abt my breast, i do not want to tempt him again. now he can take his last feed at around 11pm, then sleep all the way till 5plus or 6 for his next feed.

300ml is good what...i only give BM from 10am-7pm (shorter than you). my bb drink BM every 1.5 hour..very hard to catch up to his demand.

dun think will join the gathering at sassy's place. now if i go out with Olivier, i will have to bring Olivier's nanny along. if not, she has nothing to do at my place. so very paiseh cos nobody bring nanny along

agree with u..don't use breasts to comfort bb to sleep..i read that in the book..
anyway, ur bb can sleep thru the night already..that is soo soo good..how old is he?
my bb is 6 weeks old..can only sleep 4.5hour the most during night-last feed is 10 or 11pm

Not brave lah... I discussed with my hb and a few friends and doctors. Actually if u ask me, i think it is more dangerous in Sg if the virus do get to SG that's why we rather go. Of course, there's a lot of stuff that i am bringing up the plane to keep the hygeine level ok in the plane. Going to customize the adult face mask for my bb to use also.

now my bb drinks 120ml every 3 - 4hrs. everyday, he'll take around 360ml. if i continue to yield only 300ml, very soon i will only be able to give him 2 feeds of EBM.

if u have a list of things to bring up the plane to keep hygiene level ok, do share with me in case we really have to go, ok? also, how to customize the face mask for bb? i dun think Olivier will allow me to put on the mask for him, he will sure struggle...

Same as Olivier, Anver also like addicted to my breast during night time and he want to suckle to sleep. I am also bad mummy, i also just hope that MS will just go away since not much already. No need to wear disposable breastpads and no need wear nursing bra anymore. :p

Since 1 month ago i had not let him suckle already. Initially i can still get 120ml after 5hrs pump and will feel engorgement every 5 hrs. Now after 8 or 10 hrs, i did not feel engorgement and when i pump will only get 80ml.

he just started to sleep thru the night since last thursday, when he's 7.5 weeks old. b4 that, he only wakes up once at around 1am or 2am.

same here...i told hubby a few times i felt like a bad mummy saying i wished my MS go away soon coz i hate pumping and wearing disposable pads, breasts leaking etc..but when I realized my MS going down now..aslo got a bit panic coz I was hoping it's going down only when my bb is 2-3months old..so not this soon...

i really hope my bb also like yours..now 6 weeks also like that..last feed at 10 0r 11pm, will wake up again around 2 0r 3am. so hopefully when he's 7 or 8 weeks old like ur bb, he can sleep til 5 0r 6am..really pray for that!

i am now looking forward to the day that i can drink coffee and eat anything i like without worries.
like u, previously, i can get 100 - 120ml every 4 - 5 hrly, now can only get 100ml every 8 hrly. so i only pump at 7am, 3pm and 11pm now and each time get 100ml, that makes 300ml a day

join us for the gatherin at CP, waiting for ida to fix a date. u gg to sassy's plc? bring the sling along, can learn frm one another. im on exclusive pumpin, pump every 4hrs, each pump abt 260-300ml. not true dat onli latch can keep up ss n pump dun.</font>
 
mangogal - if u cn see the mucus. try to extract for her. if leave long term might clog up and affect her breathing n drinking. thats what happened to mine. hubby has sensitive nose. PD said high chance baby also get it... hereditary... =\ anyway, she gave me nasal spray if really bad then i will spray myself.. but so far heng ah... usually il jus drop the normal saline drops she gave me... then use cotton bud to remove the mucus... can see very big lo.. poor thing!! jus monitor the situation.. if you feel its hindering her or causing her major discomfort just bring to your PD... =)

jtho - aiyo.. no need paiseh la.. im sure we all dont mind the nanny coming... hee hee... i think she also gave some advice to the other mummies.. ha haha... suckling - ahh lidat ah.. then better not ba.. hee hee...

I have gotten ready the antibacterial wipes, antiseptic solution (to sanitize hands), plastic gloves (so that minimum contact when go toilet, dont want to touch the taps or the flush or the doors directly), face masks (bb might struggle, but i plan to put it on her when she is sleeping, at least water droplets from sneezes would not fall on her nose/mouth, when she awake, bo bian but i figure that when she is awake is for milk or would be wanting me to carry, that should be quite safe since she would be really close to me).

My bb on tbf so i would let her latch on for the whole flight. U might want to think along how to keep ur bottles and teats properly sanitized. Actually ur flight is shorter than mine... not that bad.. mine got 2 transits somemore... heh.. Of course, saying so i am still monitoring the situation. Since cannot claim money back, just decide the day before lor..

I also told hubby that initially i wished to breastfeed as long as i can but now wanted to give up, so seeing so little MS i abit sad and don't bear to let it end also. I have give Anver EBM for 2 months already.

2 months is good lah..better than not at all..
i also tell myself at least give BM til 2 months -AT LEAST! but if i can..want to go further til 3 months (but seeing my MS like this..i think to complete 2 months is good enough already)

think ur bb is slowly adjusting himself. give another 1 to 2 weeks, then u probably won't have to wake up in the middle of the night again...

when my MS started to go down, i also panicked and even cried. but my hubby and my sisters consoled me that at least i have already given whatever i have to bb for about 2 mths already, so just continue to give until the day MS becomes zero.
after i accepted the fact, now i become lazy and hope i dun have to pump anymore. dunno how i endured 8 pumps a day previously

My bb already 9 weeks+, he still wake up every 2 hourly for milk and at around 5am+ he will wake up every hour, want me to hug him to sleep. Now i am already having panda eyes.

i wont be joining the serangoon gathering...
about the pumping...maybe because u so diligently pumping every 4 hour...i pump only every 6 hour + 2x latch bb..but now bb refused to latch..so only 4x pumping..

Haha......me too, so lazy to pump now. Every day i only pump once or twice now. I try not to pump unless i happy :p or feel tiny little bit of eengorgement.

after 5am, my bb also sleep lesser...only 2.5hour and after 10am is even shorter..around 45mins-1.5hour. but i think that's good coz that means bb knows how to differentiate between day and night.

i think a lot of pple also eat and drink anything. just that i more kiasu, so dare not take any caffeine, scared will pass on to bb. i didn't every drink coke...

You are still a good mummy lar. I am more worse than you. I drank bubble tea, eat fried stuffs never eat any fish also. Haiz.....my mum scold me and said that i am not a very good mummy lor.

i didn't actually train Olivier to sleep thru the night. he adjusted himself. so credit goes to Olivier, not mummy.. hehe.. now i only make sure that he has a full feed of 120ml of FM at his last feed and his first feed of the day.

So envy of you.....can sleep thru the night. I hoping for that day to come and not like my elder son, every 3 hourly he cried for milk all the way till he is 2 years old. Now my elder son still cried for 1 feed at aound 4am+.

You are right, at least it is better than wake up so many times at night. Luckily, my mum will wake up at around 8am+ to look after Anver for me to let me sleep till 10+, if not i will be very very very tire.

I think no need to get a sanitized bag for the bottles. Just use 1 ziploc bag for each feed worth of bottles. U might want to pre-pack the milk powder required for each feed so as to minimize the exposure. So sorry, that's all i can think of regarding bottle feeding.
