Hi everyone. I just tested positive yesterday. Am seeing a gynea tomorrow. I've been having stomach cramps for the last week, as if my period is threatening to come. Is it something I should be worried about?

Hope to share more after my gynea visit tmr!

Congras padi, since you are seeing your gynae tomorrow maybe you can let him know and he will advice you

Thanks Kome and Pika. A bit nervous about seeing gynea. I usually am nervous when seeing either a gynea or a dentist. Hehe.

congrats padi..

i had the same stomach cramps ...gynae prescribed dusphaston to ease the pain and its supposed to stablise the pregnancy. that should stop the cramps..

i also read that stomach cramps is normal as the body thinks the period is coming, but the hormone pills should make it go away...

dont worry

the gynae will probably ask you when's your last period 1st day, then he/she will estimate how many weeks old is the baby... oh do bring lots of cash coz the hormone pills + ultrasound scan + consultantation will cost abit...mine was around $185 for the first visit...

Hi all,

I just visited GP and tested positive too
happy.gif

My LMP is 11th June, that means I'm 5 weeks preggie? Can scan and check heartbeat at 8th week?

Am searching for gynae, staying in Punggol. Thinking of Dr Jocelyn Wong (TMC) and Dr Han HC (KKH) based on good reviews. Any comments on your own gynae?

Sashamama
My LMP abt the same as you so I should be in 5th weeks also.

My 1st appt is next week, so should be able to hear the heartbeat. So excited. I stick to my gynae who help me deliver my 1st child. He is quite experience and good, but he do not like to talk much.

Really? Next week can hear heartbeat? No need 8th week? What's the name of your clinic on AMK? The delivery will be done where?

Hey gals,
I'm a civil servant, wondering if I should go govt hospital (KKH) or private (TMC). Then again, if KKH TPS no subsidy is it? Sorry I'm blur on this. any advice?

sasa, yes heartbeat should be can see at 8th wk!
and kome: heh me too, my gynae also doesn't like to talk much but very experienced. So will stick to him who help delivered my #1. Hahaha!

sasa, jocelyn wong in TMC was good. I went to her once when i was preggie but the pregnancy failed - no heartbeat so she did a D/C for me. But when i had a second pregnancy, I decided not to go for her as thomson is quite far - the parking is a CHORE - and the main reason is, the LONG LONG waiting time. I really hate to sit there and wait, but she's very nice, talk a lot with you and so on. It's up to you! hehe!

Deear all,

can i join in. been too busy to log in and chat.

Hi Elita,

Thanks for your advice! I hope to decide by fri then can make appt liao.

Dear TMC MTBs,

How does the payment work? Is there a $550 package that includes all the consultations, scans, supplements, etc? I seem to have read this somewhere. Does this package start day 1 or when you're in a certain week? Pls advise. Thanks!

Hey Wintertime,

How's Dr Wong? I'm seriously considering, after reading so many rave reviews abt her.

Sashamama, I'm a civil servant too and am going to TPS and will deliver in KKH but I am of no help!! I don't know how much we pay. My basic understanding is that we can claim up to $350 of out-patient treatment in a year.

Hi Promeganate,

Thx for your response! I've read abt Dr Han HC at TPS, am considering. You've heard abt him? I've read good reviews abt Dr KT Tan too

Sashamama, Dr Han sounds familiar. What do you prefer? You want someone to sayang you on every trip, and sympathise and mother you? Or do you prefer a to the point gynae who will is a complete professional and can depend on him/her in the delivery suite?

Eh, not possible to have the best of both worlds huh? If I have to choose, I'd prefer a professional who's to-the-point of course! I'd leave the sayanging to my dh. haha...

Also, I've heard that KKH believes very much in a natural delivery and would avoid C-section unless absolutely necessary. I'm not sure hw far this is true but this is what a friend of my mine told me. Is it a trend in private clinics to push for C-section?

Hmm, i read that some TMC docs are pro-natural, even wiothout epi!!! So it depends on which gynae i guess! I'd prefer natural if possible. Epi would depend on how strong i am a few mths down!

Sashamama, just like me. Leave sayanging to the hubby. Dr KT Tan, thus far has been gentle and patient and very comforting though she talks very little. Her staff completely respects her professionalism.

One of my friends who delivered in Feb this year, had the mid-wife tell her in the delivery suite, "Your gynae Dr KT Tan, very good very good" What better assurance do you want that you are in good hands just before u deliver. Who would knw the doc more than the mid-wives and nurses?
happy.gif

Sashamama, I've heard lots of good things abt TMC too, but like you said its the gynae we choose. Wait for responses from the other girls, I'm sure they'll have more recommendations. I went for Dr KT Tan not thru recommendations here but because two of my good friends insisted that she is good. For one friend, she delivered three of her girls, and for the other, one girl. All four times, good comments.

I will be having my first appt with gynae this friday. I should be in my wk 7 now coming to 8 wks..

my appetite has been feeling gd and I practically feel hungry every hour.. if i don't eat anything, i will feel naseous.. I try to have small bites already, but I still put on 2kg during my 7wks of pregnancy.. feeling real low morale.. I had seen GP and he told me to curb my diet as first trimester is not a time for weight gain..

Anyone experiencing the same as me?

sashamama, Dr jocelyn wong was recommended by my SIL.. she has gd comments abt her, so should be not bad.. if u are shortlisting her, do make ur appt fast. I had made my appt 3 wks back and seems like she's really tied up.

Sashamama
Clinic is known as Women's Clinic of Singapore. He help to deliver in Mt A. and TMC.

Wintertime
Although I did not go and weight myself yet but most of my clothes i cannot wear already. Think I have also put on some weight

I've put on weight too. I think it's inevitable la. Cos I really feel I need to eat or else I feel like crap. Don't deny a preggie mummy of food, right? ;)

Kome and promeganate, yup.. i often feel so hungry but everytime i look at the mirror, feel so sad. i barely can squeeze into my clothes now, and now i try to wear those looser tops/dress cos my tummy is bulging out already.. I hope i m not putting on too much..

I can't wear my clothes too. And I'm having the most difficulty with my pants. I can't button them anymore, otherwise it feels too tight and I don't want to take the risk. I think it's abt time we got the stretchable pants.

Wintertime, don't worry too much abt your weight. In my opinion all we can try to do is eat healthy, so we still eat when we're hungry but eat food with less calories.

promeganate, thanks for assuring.. I have been trying to eat healthier.. anyway have you started applying stretchmark cream??

Btw, I m down with fever today. Doc given me 3 days mc.. think i will really rest well.. hope my fever don't hurt my bb

wintertime, I've been meaning to get a stretchmark cream. I might get it this weekend, esp cos we're piling up quickly, we might just be good candidates for stretch marks.

I'm sorry abt the fever, but glad you'll get to rest. At this stage, my friends tell me that plenty of rest and sleep is beneficial to mum and baby. I've been sneaking back home early to sleep too
happy.gif

Wintertime
Pls rest well and take care.

Do we need to get a stretchmark cream so early? Last time the nurse only asked me if i need one during my 5 or 6 mths. Not too sure leh
