longan, can help me to update? my EDD is 2nd March...

I have just returned from my gynae visit this morning.. hb was so excited but i am feeling sick cos I am still down with flu and cough..
I did not wait for too long before I get to see Jocelyn Wong.. but she is really friendly and nice.. i felt comfortable with her... She was my SIL gynae 3 yrs back and when we mentioned that we were referred by SIL, she actually remembers my SIL and commented on my SIL. So sweeet right?

We had blood test for both my hb and myself, taken come medication, consultation plus ultrascan.. The total bill come up to $378!! wow... i din know it's so ex.. guess it's the blood test which is expensive... nvm, for sake for bb, such money must be spend one..

anyway, some updates on my little bb.. he/she has grown to abt 1.3cm already.. hees... and we can see bb's heartbeat pumping fast on the screen.. it's sooooo amazing..

But i also read that soy milk, ginger, tofu not good. Baby might get jaundice, etc. Unsure... There're so many things to take note!

I dun understand how come Barley, Hawthorn, Potato not good. Anyone knows?

Sashamama
$1200 which $600 can be claim from medisave.

Wintertime
Her memory is good. Can i know how come your HB also need to do blood test?

Sashamama
Certain food for certain trimester is not good, but for the other trimester it might be good. Yes, eat too much soy milk, ginger, tofu not good baby might get jaundice, but if moderate still ok.

Wow, first visit $378!!! Goodness... My 1st appt with Dr Wong on 1st Aug le. Must bring enough cash!!! haha... Congrats on hearing bb's heartbeat! I'm sooo looking forward! How many weeks are u preggie now?

sashamama, I don't htink u need 5k so much..

here's my indicative cost breakdown
package (natural delivery)-->800 start from wk 12 onwards
3 visits prior package starts-->800
Oscar test-->300..

so i think less than less than 3k should be sufficient already, of cos this excludes complications lah.. not too sure if the package includes the room or not.. most likely not.. so we got to include the stay for 1 night stay.

sashamama, my next appt also on 1st Aug.. me already in wk 7.5 now.. what time is ur visit on 1st Aug?

Kome and sashamama, Cos I told doc that I have family history for thalassemia.. and doc suggest to do a blood test to confirm on both my hb and myself.. but i do have an option to do the blood test later, but since i m there, might as well do it. hb's blood test alone cost 80bucks.. we were told that the blood test will be done for other tests as well..

sasha.. opps.. maybe u r right.. cos I did not really enquire about the delivery charges.. wah.. that means got to top up another 1k plus liao lor..

Kome, Oscar test is a test for down sydrome for bb.. this test will only be done on the 5th months if i m correct.

padi, i love crab too.. but heard a bit "toxic" for us to take.. i always believe in eating in moderate.. nothing too excesive.

Hi Wintertime,
My appt at 1145am. Recep said it so happen someone cancelled and there're no other slots in the next two weeks! What time is urs?

I believe can use medisave and i read need to keep all the receipts, can only claim after delivery.

Hi Padi,
heard that seafood not good cos of the mercury levels in the sea lo.

I told dh that preggies cant eat sashimi and he said then what do jap women eat? Haha... I read somewhere in the foum that jap sashimi has strict standards, need to be frozen til a certain temp to reduce bacteria to the lowest level. i doubt Singapore has such standards on sashimi, so be safe, dun eat lo.

Sasha, mine at 4pm.. actually i had an option of 9.15am, but guess too early.. 4pm would be better so that I can sneak off from work..

Wintertime
old person say eat crab, baby next time hand and leg will be non stop. Like touch here and there or walk here and there.

Hihi Northvirgo,

WELCOME to this thread!!! When was your LMP? How many weeks now? How's the spotting? I read that if brown discharge is dead blood, dislodged from uterus or something. What did the doc advise?

Take care!!!

Hi Queenie!!!
12/03 is my dh's bdae! hehe...

You had spotting previously? how bad was it? Happy for you that the situation has stabilised
happy.gif

When was your LMP? My 1st visit is 1 aug, 2 weeks later, must wait v long to hear heartbeat!!!

hi sasha..

hehe tts so coincidence..
but i guess EDD will be changed again when bb is bigger in future..

yeah, not really serious..
Sun - Dark brown discharge
Mon - Slight brownish when using tissue aft urinating.
then after that is on and off like..

my lmp is on 29 may 08.

don worrie, actually dont have to go so early one.
juz start eating healthy, n start folic acid asap on daily basis..

how many days have u missed ur menses?
who noes, maybe by the time u c ur gynae u will be able to see the lil one flickering which means is the heartbeat
happy.gif

stay happy !

Congrats Northvirgo! It must have been a wonderful experience seeing the little one there.
happy.gif
I can't wait to see my little one and hear the heartbeat.

Today onwards I'll be week 5.
happy.gif
So far I still feel quite the same, except for the slightly sore breasts. My stomach cramps are also getting better. Less regular. Does anyone feel like there isn't much difference actually?

updated my details as above.

I went for my 1st gynae appointment at 5 weeks plus at ACJ clinic with Dr Joycelyn Wong.
just did an ultrasound thus could only see my waterbag and not bb yet.
hubby did his blood test for $18 while mine will be later stage.
next apptmt will be in 2 weeks' time. by then should be able to see bb and his/her heartbeat clearly..

Hi Queenie,

my LMP 11th June, so 2 weeks later than you, 2 weeks later i'd be 7.5 weeks! Missed my menses by 9 days liao. tested positive when 5 days late
happy.gif

Hi Padi,
When's ur LMP? maybe same as me. hehe

Hi Miracle!
There're FIVE of us with Dr Joycelyn Wong!!! She's HOT!!! Have u estimated the total charges freom 1st consultation to delivery yet? I wonder how much cash and medisave can be used, i budgetting $5k for everything, hope enough!

hi sashamama, have you been to your 1st apptmt? she's indeed HOT! a very warm and patient lady too..
i have not estimated the charges yet.. but base on wintertime posting, her hubby paid $80 for blood test while my hubby paid $18. could be due to different situations. however, i think our own blood test will not be cheap.. everything boils down to dollars and cents.. gonna tighten our purse string for the sake of a healthy bb..it's all worth it ya!

Hi Miracle,

My 1st appt on 1st aug, 2 weeks later. Ya, was considering kk or tmc and dh said this type of thing need to spend then spend lo, so we opted for the more ex option. got a lot of reviews that tmc is very good for preggies.
happy.gif

Hi Kome,
Thanks for sharing your charges. Wow, $8k is alot! But luckily can use medisave! CONGRATS on seeing the sac! When's your next appt? Could you hear heartbeat?

Hi Sashamama: My LMP is 14th June 08. a few days after urs.

I find it worrying to hear that my gynea said that she can't see anything when I see her 3 days ago. For those who did scan in their 4 to 5 weeks, was it an ultrascan or a vagina scan?
sad.gif

I am now wondering if I should go to another gynea for another opinion.
sad.gif

Hi den2:
I have flu, cough, nausea, difficulty in breathing esp at night, a little cramps. Me now 5.5 weeks. We just need to hang in there for all the discomfort in the coming months!!! Will be supporting one another here
happy.gif

Hi Padi:
The receptionist at SCJ clinic said me now too early to see gynae, so 2 weeks later 7.5 weeks is just right, most prob got sac and heartbeat liao. i guess 4-5 weeks really can't see much through scan? Can the rest advise?

Hey gals,
I'm very worried about M/C, read that 25% of pregnancies result in M/Cs. What do we need to look out for? Is it just spotting? So long as there is no spotting it means that our bb is safe? Please advise!

den, congrats and welcome. don't worry, i guess wat u r experiencing is normal cos I feel the same too.. or even worst. mood swings, naseous, bloated and often feel hungry.. I thought I was going into depression at one pt..

padi,I guess u don't have to worry so much.. maybe cos urs still early? perhaps you can go back in 2 wks time? by then i think u should be at least able to see the sac already.. as long u are not spotting, it's okay..

sasha, ya, mc is pretty commoon these days so we have to take ultra careful of ourselves. according to my gynae, as long no spotting, everything should be fine. of cos must accoy with visits to gynae to check on the growth and heartbeat..U will be able to see urs soon.. u can virtually see ur bb's heartbeat blinking on the screen really fast..

Hi wintertime,
Thx for your advice! I felt less nauseous today compared to the past few days, a bit scared. Heard that the more symptoms the better, cos means preggie ma. 2 weeks seem like such a looong wait!!! I'm sure you're looking forward to the visit 2 weeks later too!

Did the gynae advise you on anything other than taking Folic Acid?

sasha,yup.. she actually prescribe a bottle of multivitamin meant for prenatal mummies. She strongly recommend me to drink milk for calcium intake as bb is forming his/her bones structure now.. so it's impt to take that. she will give u one "goody" bag from enfamum milk for mummies.. in fact, there's a dispensing machine right at the counter and you can try out the milk to see if u like it or not. in the goody bag, there are some samples for u to try.. I have been drinking fresh milk everyday but was told that such powdered milk is much better cos they have included all types of nutrients in it..

other than that, jus take everyhings in moderate. stay away from raw food, caffine, tea, liquor..

thanks wintertime for ur infp!!! Fresh milk is cold le, dunno can drink or not. I drinking HL milk every morning...

Hi ladies,
I bought a good pregnancy book a year ago "What to expect when you're expecting" but lent it to my best fren who was preggie last year instead of having a need for it. She dropped by my place and returned me the book plus some books and mags she bought. Am reading and wanna share what i found:

Possible Signs of Pregnancy
- Amenorrhoea (absence of menstruation)
- Periodic staining or bleeding
- Bleeding during implantaion of the embryo in the uterus
- Morning sickness (nausea, with or without vomitting, any time of day)
- Frequent urination
- Tingling, tender, swollen breasts
- Darkening of areola (area around nipple) and elevation of tiny glands around nipple
- Blue and pink lines under skin on breasts and later on abdomen
- Food cravings

Probable Signs of Pregnancy
- Changes in colour of vaginal and cervical tissue to bluish violet
- Softening of cervix and uterus
- Enlarging uterus and abdomen
- Palpable uterine artery pulsation
- Fluttering sensation in lower abdomen (foetal movement) - first noted at 16-22 weeks

Positive Signs of Pregnancy
- Visualisation of embryo or gestational sac through ultrasound - as early as 4-6 weeks after conception
- Foetal heartbeat - 10-20 weeks of pregnancy

Hope there's some help!
happy.gif

Thanks Sashamama! You are very helpful.

Thanks Wintertime, you are very comforting.
happy.gif

I just realize KKH has an AMK branch! If my gynea sees patients at the AMK branch, I'll be happy to transfer myself there instead of TPS!

sasha, by right we should not intake too much cold drinks. but i bo chap leh..
thanks for the information, i think most of the signs happen on me too...

padi, yup.. so u got to eat well, rest well and take gd care.. make sure ur bb has sufficient nutrient and grow..

Hi padi,

It depends on which gynae you see i think. I read good reviews about Dr Han How Chuan who has clinic at KKH and AMK i think. You wanna call and ask? AMK number is 64534688, i was considering.
happy.gif
You've not made any appt yet? Best to make one soon!

ladies
juz done my BT tis morning n cfm fr my gynae my preggy is cfm =) din see my gynae coz he said fr my report looks gd so he asked me to see him 2.5 wks later...
chk w u, when should we apply the cream to prevent stretch marks?

Hihi, wow! this thread is moving so fast.
I went for my first visit last week and could see my baby at 1.53cm, going for my second visit on 2 aug, hope to hear the heartbeat by then.
happy.gif
Btw, anyone of u experiencing insomnia? i have difficulties sleepling well, always have broken sleep for two weeks already.

sun96, i think better apply as early as possible. I went to buy stretchmark cream as soon i know im pregnant. I kiasu la, but i believe prevention is better than cure.

Sashamama: I've seen one gynea a few days ago. Made appt to see her again end July. Just wondering if I should consider another gynea nearer to my home. Going to KKH from my home is a good bus ride of 45 mins. :S But I shall ask if my gynea sees patients at the KKH AMK clinic!

Wintertime: I have been giving in to my cravings. :p I hope to watch my diet and not put on so much weight!

Angelmummy: Stretchmark cream? When do you start applying?

Padi, I started to apply last week. Cos i can see my waistline expanding so better apply as early to improve my skin elasticity to prevent stretchmark.
