I think the dry one is ikan bilis, 江鱼仔. Or is there wet or fresh ikan bilis? Silver fish is those fresh type we bought from wet market. Think supermarket also got sell. It is called 银鱼. Personally I love both. I used ikan bilis to boil soup n silver fish, my mum coated it with flour n deep fried it. After tat, sprinkle a bit of pepper n salt, it taste even better than french fries.

Of course of course. It is a matter of choice but hor, old ppl thinking mah. Since my mum feel happier to remove the head, by all means go ahead as long as she dun ask me to do it. Haha...

I usually will cook the porridge over the fire. I put a ceramic spoon in to speed up the cooking process. Then transfer to slow cooker.

Summer finally drank some decent milk. drank 4oz of milk 50% similac 50%friso2 after her short swim. so i guess the swim works. and i finally got my sanity back.. now that she zzz.. one of the worse days of my life.. sianz..

BTW i cook porridge with meat today. 1st time that summer is eating meat too. I used vege stock that i pre-prepared, together w pumkin & minced chicken to cook. I even blend the final product before serving to my fussy gal. she took it. but due to lack of appetite onli ate 1.5 chinese spoon nia.

Gerber has prune juice for baby .. it's those small jars like their baby food ... u can dilute if you want but it may be tasteless ... just add a bit of water if u don't want to give undiluted.

need to vent...

juz back fr JP, was an horrible experince... think i'm getting more & more sick to bring Daniell out already, when i started to walk for 10mins, he started to cry & refuse to sit in stroller but at 1st i boh chap, i let him cry but after few mins, i buay tahan liao coz ppl start looking at me like why i let my boy cried until like this... ok, then i carried him, he stopped crying then i put him down again, he cried again so in the end i had to carry him with one hand & the other hand pushed the stroller for 1hr!!! so frustrated!! In the middle i tried to look for a bench to sit down, ok finally found one 'slot', when i was approaching a man behind me walked quickly & 'snatched' the seat liao, damn angry!!!! so in the end tat 1.5hr i din get to walk/shop & juz got to carry Daniell, super fed up until i couldn't take it anymore... i cried!!! haizz!!!

i kept on telling myself i dun wan to look after children anymore, i hate to be SAHM, i wanna come out & work, at least i hav freedom!!!!!!

jess, dun cry!! Zach oso like tat when we go out. He will want me to carry him instead of sitting in his stroller. Usually i will carry him, carry my big bag (shopping bag in his stroller) and push his stroller using 1 hand. BB is like tat.. now at their age, they began to be sticky to us.
I know the meat u use is 'yao rou' n is expensive!!! hahaha. Use tat to make char siew. Yeah..double boil is like how we boil birds nest..hehe
for hi tea hor, bring Daniell lar..all of us can help u to take care.

remember i was complaining about not being able to lose my pregnancy weight? last week I went to gynae for pap smear, and she suggested that i test for thyroid function, in case that's causing my weight gain. then today, the clinic called me back, said my test result is abnormal, ask me to go back to see doctor. i actually feel kinda relieved to know that it's my thyroid that is causing my weight problems.

my gal is also the same.. so you are not alone! In the end, i can only go out if someone else accompany me or else i put her in the baby carrier. I think its just a phase.. when they are starting to be interested in their surroundings and more independent (i.e. mobile), they may not be as sticky anymore. What more i am also a SAHM so my bb see me most of the time. My main concern now is that she wont take to any other pple...

My bb also .. refused to sit in his pram .. not only shopping ok .. during the car ride as well.. Its so tiring holding him ... when he's 9kg ++ and to make it worse, he'll move to the right and left ..

I've never tried going out on my own .. w/o my hubby or maid ah .. cos Evan is too naughty ..

i feel your pain babe, but sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet and leave him in his pram crying lor. try to distract him first .. give him a babybite or something to snack on. make sure you only give it to him IF he sits in the stroller. If u end up carrying him, keep the biscuit away. he'll understand sooner or later that the only way he will get snacks and drinks and toys is if he sits in there.

but really ah .. u cannot be paiseh he cries and ppl stare. if that's the case, he will know later on that if he cries or screams in public, for sure his mummy and daddy will give in and so he will use it to his advantage . kids are really clever that way.

I recall once I was in Taka, this little girl threw a tantrum and cried loudly in the toy dept .. and even lay down on the floor trying to get her way. her parents just stood there lor ... then eventually bo pian, she no choice get up and follow her parents lor. it was really funny

Calista can sit in her stroller .. sometimes she cries la .. I carry her awhile then try to put her down again and quickly push her around to distract her ... I hate carrying my baby when there's a perfectly good serviceable stroller just sitting there ... at home aldy, she's stuck to me kena carry her ... so when I'm out, I chuck her in there. sometimes, she cries a short while then falls asleep. lagi better. can shop in peace.

I sound like a hearless mother I know .. but the thought of what Jes did ah .. carry the baby for one hour and still kena push the empty stroller around sure will make me fed up man .. even for me with a maid, I still prefer for Calista to sit in her stroller. I don't want her to be used to being carried. not light man ... who wants to carry ?!!

i do understand most of the babies at this stage rather to be carried, than 'guai guai' sitting in stroller... i felt depressed today not only bcoz of this inccident, haiz... i also dunno how to tell, i guess i really hate my current life tat's y i always get irritated by all these small small things... to me sometimes i will feel inferior for being a SAHM (sorry no offence to other SAHMs) but if tai tai then of coz different talk... and to me SAHM is also a lousy job, as i always tell my fren... no money, no status, no freedom, no offday, no MC etc...

my hubby asks me to 'tong' for another year, wait until at least Daniell turns 18mths & can go CC liao then come out & work... haiz... i'm counting my day...

sometimes daniell also dun wan to sit in carseat, i really hate when he's screaming behing when i'm driving alone... there was one time he screamed on the way back from Woodlands to Sengkang!!!

Now i got phobia, eventhough my hubby pass me his car i also must think twice if i should go out or not!!!

haha... actually i'm also a heartless mummy, i always let Daniell cry & cry esp when i know he juz wan to be carried, be it at home or outside... but today he really go overboard liao, everytime i put him back to stroller he will scream & struggle like i'm kidnapper like tat... very angry! and yes, pushing an empty stroller really made me so FED UP!! even though the idea of putting him in bb carrier & in the sametime pushing an empty stroller also sound stupid to me!

i did try to distract him by giving toys but he still dun wan, but ur idea of giving him snack while in the stroller sounds good (i know he will buy it... haha), even though it may end up a dirty & messy stroller but better than carrying around...

my elder boy last time had no problem to sit either in stroller or carseat one, tat's y last time i didn't even own a carrier...

Jess: Do you have a baby carrier or sling?
Last time Cayenne also like that refuse to sit in her stroller. So what i do when i go out is, i bring BOTH the stroller and the carrier. Sound stupid rite.. but i really "hate" to carry my baby when we are outside shopping.. Not light lor.. The thing is my baby like to be sling by my hubby or myself to look around her and able to flung her hands happily like a little bird and kick her legs freely. When we are walking and if people in front is blocking her view, she will go "eh eh eh" as if asking them to excuse me.. u blocking me.. haha.. Usually when she fall asleep or we need to sit dwn to eat then we put her in the stroller and give her some toys to hold to keep her entertained.

Aiyo.. poor thing lah u..dun cry over small matter lah.. its fustrating but after some "training" i am sure ur bb will enjoy the outing.Maybe ur baby is just being cranky lei.. go out a few more times it will be fine alrdy.

Just to share: i brought my baby out alone last sat to my mum place. We took the LRT, MRT and the bus throughout 1.5 hrs journey fr Bkt Panjang to Sengkang and Cayenne is very well behaved! She is very friendly..she "chatted"with the uncles and aunties on the MRT and bus and eventually fall asleep on the bus and wake up only when we reach. hehe..

And i also dun have many frens here in melb.. family also back in sg. Haha ya.. so i feel ur 'pain'. Cross fingers that things will be better. I think i will probably try what sam said too (Thanks sam!). Heh heh But above all else, i will learn to be more zen abit and just roll with the punches. Cant afford to go bonkers alone here.. *hmmmm* Which is why internet is my greatest fren at the moment!

hehehe .. that's why I think the material that MacLaren uses for their strollers quite good .. easy to maintain .. easy to take off and throw in machine to wash. ya, snacks is a good thing. don't give the messy type lor.
