seems like i am the only one here whose baby is looked after by maid full time. i have 2 maids at home and i hope that both can jaga one another so they wont do anything funny.
the maid looking after my boy has been working with us for the past 1/1/2 yrs. i trust her and feel that she is a good maid. she even tells the confinement lady to not waste water(coz water v expensive in singapore haahah) and scold her if she takes our stuff or eat food that she;s not supposed to even tho we nv restrict the CL. In fact its the CL who told us we are v lucky that we got a very good maid and she was the one who encouraged us to let the maid take care of the baby.
however sometimes i still feel insecure and so much want to let MIL or mum take care. but we are all working individuals and it is v hard to solve this dilemma. i guess IFC got another set of problems.. and nanny also got another set of problems.
I rather get someone i trust and i trust my maid. i believe not everyone is so orh sim(black heart).
i still take care of my boy at night and i know friends who let maids feed baby at night.
i'm thankful to have a neighbour who comes over to spot check once in awhile or whenever baby cries loudly, she will walk over with her ru yi oil.
the video has been circulating in my office 2 weeks back and yah after watching it i did think of installing video cam... but its not cheap leh.. like cost a couple of thousands.
sigh.... i dont know.. should i install? in fact i have a friend who installed and found her maid mishandling the baby..

My mil say learn flipping back will take a month. My ger sometimes will cry for help after flipping. She wants to flip back lah. After we flip her back, she flips herself over again! "-__-"

cute leh!!!!!!!! U going to shave her hair another time? My neighbour shaved her bb's hair a second time so that the patches not so obvious.
I haven't taken any photo of her aft she flip... But tis is one taken when she was placed on tummy...

My family has changed so many before (& I was kinda brought up by maids) & this one (& my mum's very first 1) stands out. She really takes very good care of my baby and also us. Always places us above herself. I look after my daughter myself at night but I noted that if my daughter were to cry at night, my maid will wake up, come to my room, peak to see if all is fine. If my daughter wakes up in the middle of the night and refuses to sleep, she will volunteer to take over from me so that I can get enuff sleep. And I see that my daughter is very happy to see her so I guess she treats my daughter really well ba.

to me i think CCTV also not use, like one of the mummy posted in tat thread saying tat CCTV can only 'tell' u how the damage being done but not to stop the damage from happening...

yah i agree.. me too brought up by maid. last time my maid worked with us for 8 years... she lines up to register my for kindergarten and primary school. she brings me to school, buy my textbooks, assessment books, teach me and bring me to library to borrow books.. bring me to doctor when im sick..
and i believe my current maid is good too. she makes sure baby comes home before she goes to sleep. if he's not back she cant sleep eventhough she doesnt take care of him at night.
im just afraid accidents.. coz i believe everyone is prone to accidents. and i also believe she can do a better job than my MIL... Oops! hee... because at least she looks after my boy according to my likes and dislikes.. my mil will not lor.. will do her own way. in fact, she wanted to feed him barley water at 2 mths.. i almost flipped.
i hope next time if my mil looks after him, my maid can help me to watch over her actions. and i believe she will do a good job at that.

i agree soem maids are really horrible.. but there are just some that are smarter. the two i have at home 1 is very slow (mentally) the one looking after is much much better that's why i say there are some that are good.
of coz i had like maids since young and yes, i have seen maids who steal money (send back) maids who have bf (so many!!) got one even bring bf home while my family on holiday!! one ran away while i was watching tv.. so my mum's $5000 forfeited. that being said. there are good ones but not all.

I also agree with fifi that not all maids are bad. In fact, the employer takes a huge responsibility in training our domestic helpers. Alot of them are capable of doing the job but they just need to be "brain-washed" occasionally to always remember who the employers are.
I guess i'm considered one of the lucky few like Fifi. Got my helper in when my boy was 1 month old, she also help me in breastfeeding problems because she breastfed all her three kids for more than a year. She sounded like a lactation consultation to me... hahaha always tell me how to empty my breasts, massage my breasts etc.
When my boy went for his 5 in 1 jab, my helper also came along. She was so happy to hear of my boy's weight gain, she felt that its her job to make sure my boy gain weight and she's happy that he's healthy.
Really breaks my heart to see that footage of the video. We shouldn't assume things, perhaps there's more than meets the eye.

in fact my elder boy also likes my maid a lot coz she knew how to do according to his like & dislike too... he even cried when he heard the maid wanted to go back to indo... but eventhough still cannot convince myself to trust maid... hahaa! maybe i cannot accept a stranger in my house, i value my privacy a lot...
but if u wan to install better do it 'hidden'.. like wat jowin said, if the maid knows there is cctv monitoring her, she will be stress the way out & get things done worse...

Yes, there are good maids.. my Mum so far hired 3 maids and all of them are good. They only left when contracts were up n even extended. But last time i have no children yet so there is not problem.
Now the current maid tat help my mum to take care of my daughter.. she seem fine...My girl like her alot. Its just that i always paranoid. kekeke

ya is important to get the bb monitor if sleep by himself. if u buy the bb monitor, i think so far avent is good, the sound is clear. we tried others brand, the sound is very bad and easy to get interuppted. can't hear very clear when baby cry.
if ur baby learning how to flip, i think baby monitor is a must. and u must go to checkup them freuqently, just in case their neck still not strong enough and sturt in the bed.

Good to buy a 2nd hand jumperoo rather than rent it. Rent is about $50 per month n I got my 2nd hand Rainforest jumperoo at $100 here. So I rather buy. Besides we can sell it off later if our jumperoo still in good condition.
I feed my daughter in bumbo too. She dun really like to sit in bumbo now that she can sit without support liao. Luckily I bought the bumbo 2nd hand also. Hehe.. I cheapo mum.
For feeding: I recommend Pigeon feeding spoon. It is soft so my bb can bite since now she teething, always feel itchy at feed. Also wun have to worry that bb will choke due to the design of the spoon.

Think u should go scream at ur MIL for forcing u to shave ur bb hairs. But dun worry about the growing in patch cause mine, though never shave, hairs also grow weird weird. Her outer layer hairs is growing very fast but inner layer not growing. Think we just give our bb time to grow their hairs lor. If can, dun shave 2nd time. Use a hairband while waiting for ur bb hairs to grow. That is what I do.

Read that some babies are flipping at 3 months.. Mine is almost 4 and showing no signs of flipping yet. In fact he hates tummy time. Any idea what I should do?

hi jowin, same here! sigh... i try to train my bb by letting him lie on his side and turn back on his own. But till now still cannot.. And when i place him on his tummy he cant lift up his head yet although he did put in a lot of strength to try..
looking forward to the day that he shows signs of flipping..
