to me maid is 'extra' problem laa.. i used to hav maid for 3yrs but i still cannot trust her... now she has left & initially my hubby asked if i wan to get another one... i said 'tolong' laa... i dun wan to look after another 'child' lorr...
 
hi mummies,
baby louis has been kicking a LOT lately (while in his crib and also while he plays lying on the floor). since last week he kicked virtually the entire night. he appeared asleep but continued to kick. Can a baby kick while sleeping? These are hard kicks -- I can feel them even i fall sleep deeply! Is this normal?
 
wah.. i saw the video! Very bad leh.. my heart feels so pain for the little girl. I think she prob poop-ed in her pants that's y the maid so angry cos she is feeding the little one but still dun warrant for her to kick and treat her like a sandbag!

I did tink of having a maid if i hv a 2nd kid but tat oso if i m a housewife by then..else both of them will eb in childcare! hahah

i guess nothing can be compared to us taking care of our own child lar.. even Zach is at infantcare, i still worry abt teacher abusing him..haha and worry abt how they bathe him, will he be too cold, will the older babies hit him, etc etc..

Maid:
It's a heng suay thing lah - not all MAIDS are bad. We din see the other side of the story (was the employer nice to the maid? Or did the employer overwork the maid till she gets so fedup?). Maids are human and they get angry too (just tat maybe no one trained her how to control her anger/release the steam)...

Can't slam mothers who choose to use the Maid only option (esp if u do not hv IFC near u, no ILs to help). Think abt this, u put ur child at the nanny staying near ur place - when can u be 100% sure ur baby is not being abused? esp if u can't install a CCTV there...

for me i didnt wear wired bra. ACTUALLY im wearing my wired bra but i took off the wire hahah cus its quite pain hehe

i bought a bible for children so will read bible stories to bb. Sometimes will also tell him stories like 3 little pigs, red riding hood etc. I also have some cloth books with pull out animals which my boy enjoys =)

flipping:
my boy will flip his body but will get stuck coz cannot lift up his head. Then he will start crying. When we put him on his tummy, he will be very happy and keep moving his arms and legs ard. But after a while he will start crying again coz can't move

Maid:
I also prefer not to have a maid to look after my bb, but I don't mind getting those part time maids to do the housework. Coz now my mum is taking care of my bb and sometimes quite diff to do housework. So thinking of getting part time help... Anybody uses part time help? Can share your experience?

I couldn't watch the whole video through. See also so heart pain. Ya, the only reason I have a maid is because I am home to watch her. If I'm not around, my eldest girl who's 10 will be home. At least she can tell me if anything like this happens.

but ya, it's like snowger says .. it's heng suay thing la. My maid of 3 years .. she's good. My girls love her a lot and she loves them too. In May, she's leaving cos she has to go home look after her own kid ...

Now I'm looking though bio datas feel damn sian.
 
adel, i m using part time maid.. hehe. Last time used to have one from China. Let me tell u, first few times very hardworking, scrub and wipe till sparkling clean. then slowly her 'color' came out. Every saturday will call me say cannot make it lar cos will hv stomach ache, can change to another day or not etc.. so fed up cos i purposely reserve saturday to stay home for her to clean the house and yet turn out i hv to stay home both saturday and sunday. After I deliver, i told her no need to come liao..haha

Now a filipino lady is cleaning my house. This lady is quite good but i m paying a very high price for her service. I gotten her through A-Team so must pay agency fee and her per hr rate is $15..n i gotten her to come 2x a week cos i need my floor to be clean :p

wah, $15 is qte ex. How long u get her to clean each time? She bao ka liao issit? Laundry, mopping, ironing etc? My mum's been nagging me to get a maid coz i starting work on monday and she scared she can't cope with bb and housework... sometimes i feel like juz telling my HR tt i wanna do part time work instead, then i can stay home and look after bb...

I guess I am one of the heng ones. I got a really good maid so my DD is in her care with no other supervision. But this maid is not new lah. She worked for my mum for 4+ years before I transfer her over to help me. She's really good. Can teach me how to breastfeed, clear blocks oso. Haha.
 
she did offer to do laundry but i declined! Hahaha..she onie help me to wash floormats. She will do everything lar a normal maid will do but in 4hrs.. we hv alot of clothes to iron leh.. 4 working trousers and 4business shirt, 4 bermudas which my hb wore over the weekends, my dresses, etc etc.. she quite 'zhi tong'.. i will get her to clean my wardrobe etc..n she help me to organise my stuff.. but i keep calculating the amt i pay her i can get a full time maid but then again if i get a full time maid y send bb to infantcare rite? pay double

Forgot to add that we are usually apprehensive because of 1 or 2 horror stories. We kinda forget that there is a larger population of maids out there who are actually hardworking n genuinely love the kids they are taking care of (my neighbour, my colleague each have one).

Same like emeraldbride, my part time maid is thru agency. Min is 4hrs each time. I think she is thai cos can't speak english (dun look indonesian) but she does a great job esp cleaning mirrors/windows n toilets (which i hate doing). Funny thing is I not staying at my own place, but she comes every sun to clean up the house. *haha*

got cheaper ones ard. Not under agency type... If u wan, i can help u ask (tat time my sis wanted to intro me, but my hb sign up with agency liao). They are usually "pei du ma ma"s working part time.

I oso pay abt same rate as u. I find it ok lah... She will usually automatic help me vaccumm n clean floor,wash toilets, wipe surfaces. When she finish liao still got time, she will ask my hb for things to do. Act I have a feeling she wants to work more than 4 hrs. Cos me n my hb got to "remind" her time is up... Cos if she work extra, need to pay her leh.

yah agree that there are good maids ard. It's all about heng suay whether u get a good maid. My aunt's maid worked for her for qte long then went back to philippines. Then after a while she came back again to work for my aunt.
How much u paying her per hr?

yah, if i get a part time maid, end up the amt will be almost the same as a stay-in maid. But i prefer to have the privacy, still find it rather uncomfortable to have a stranger staying with me. Having the confinement nanny for 1 mth was bad enough, can't imagine having a stay-in maid 24/7.
If i wanna get part time help, must go thru agency? Or can i like contact either yours or snowger's maid directly?
 
hihi..i need to get a maid for my parent's side, wat do we need to do? My parent above 60..so my bro is gog to be the sponsor n the maid will be hired by my parents..how to go ahead ah?
 
i'm also using part time maid, she comes over my house once every 2 wks, min 4hrs & she's charging $12 per hour (incl her transport charges coz she stays in Yishun)... she's chinese, recommended by one of my gf... so far so good...

couldn't watch the video.

i'm one of those who has 'no choice' but to get a maid. was adamantly against the idea initially. tried to get mom/mil to quit work.. get an aunt to babysit.. ifc.. you name it, i've explored it.

but now we have a maid to help care for our kids but there's always someone else at home too (and my home cam). i trust neither my maid nor my relatives to care for my kids alone. my rationale is simple.. as parents, we sometimes get frustruated at our own babies when they whine too much but as their parents, we won't hurt our kids. but can't say the same about any other party. even if its the uncle/aunt/granma etc.. plus i'm super paranoid about any other kind of abuse..sexual especially. that's why i'm very particular about what my kids see/hear and who they meet.

there's an infant care a few stops from my place but i trust it even less. other than abuse, i'm also very particular about favouritism and racism. don't want my kids being bullied or taught negativity.

from the way u gals describe the video.. i couldn't bear to watch it.. cos my gal is now taken care by maid n MIl.. heng still got MIL to look after the maid.. crossing my fingers tt such things wont happen to me. I always make it a point o chat w my maid at the end of the day, check if she's ok and whether she's tired.. I v scared tt she might fall sick or bear grudges then take it out on my gal.. so scary..

I showed my maid the video .. of course she was also horrified. But like you, I'm very mindful of not overworking my maid .. I don't want her to be angry and take it out on my girls. I have been doing housework and cooking and taking care of my kids for 9 years before she came (yes I have actually never worked before .. just did tuition for a short while then got married then became a housewife) ... so I know that it can all be overwhelming. I make our meals simple and we eat out for lunch on weekends.

no choice lar.. last time she used to come once a week but by Wed, i alr buay tahan the floor liao. not to mention now i m 'shedding' hair so alot of hair on the floor. N i keep having the feeling that the floor is very sticky end up i always clean and mop the floor.
Yesterday Zach vomitted twice @ infantcare and all over his beanie, his blanket etc.. no more clothes to wear so he wore his sweater back home. Poor boy.. sigh! then reached home finish doing all the housework, i knock off before i can hang out his clothes n woke up onie at 4am! I din even brush my teeth or apply moisturiser to my face..

My gal did a full flip yesterday. Aft the flip in the afternoon, she keeps flipping over everytime we put her on the bed (even while changing diapers!). *Happy!*

Sleeping where?:
Just wondering if you gals intend to let ur baby sleep alone in another room? Currently my ger sleeps in the playpen in our room. If we move the baby into another room will we still need a baby monitor?
 
oh, my hse cement flooring.. so dun have sticky tiles prob. Yeap, also shedding lotsa hair.. lucky floor grey grey, still can 'hide' the hair strands. our prob is tt there's sooo much laundry to be done! even hubby likes to change clothes ALOT ALOT -_- so the cleaner spends quite a bit of time ironing
 
bubble pearl, the online course is an easy 'test'. Qns like hw we shd treat the maid, their safety, etc. Within minutes can finish the 'test'. If pass then can hire a maid.

Go to a maid agency, decide on filipino or indo maid, look thr their biodata, call to talk to the maid. Need to pay agent fees which include flight for the maid to come SG, their entry (English Theory) Test...After selected the maid, upfront must pay the maid's loan which depends on the maid's salary. (eg: 6 mths x $350 = $2100)+ their insurance (depend on which plan)
 
snowger, i am clearing my extra room. clearing all my rubbish, thinking to let baby sleep alone in that room. that day me and hubby discussing should we get a baby monitor too. now my boy is sleeping in his cot in my bedroom.
