Hi mummies,

My company is looking for mums who are currently mix feeding their babies (breastfeed + formulae)to do a study on feeding baby.

There will be a cash incentive given if the recruiting company thinks you fit the criteria for the group discussion.

so envious of your night rest!... 9 hours??? i'll be glad if i can get 5 hrs straight! sigh, i dun mind if he sleeps thru the night but play throughout the day... but it definitely looks like it's not happening... he's turning 3 mths soon.

i pump and squeezed until hands going to break for 40min jus got 80ml, (las pump 4 hours ago). u not bad liao.hahaha..

anybody watching Jon & kate plus 8??? how they survive...They bought "half an organic cow"!!!! damn expensive man.. btw, i think they eat mainly on organic food.

There were a few theories which I picked up from childcare books on letting babies sleep through gradually...
1. Feed them well during the day (i.e. they must take all their nutritional requirements in the day. i.e. b/w 7am to 11pm for 3hrly feeds, day time should hv 6 feeds of which at least 4 must be FULL feeds)
2. Feed them in the night (between 11pm to 7am) only if they demand for it [If baby has healthy weight gain for his age, can still feed with water to placate them. But must die die wake them up again at 7am to feed...]
3. Books say that night feeds should be on demand (For me, I only feed if my ger screams the house down - so if she "eh eh" only, i will just ignore. Occassionally, she might wake up at 3/4am or 6am to drink. I will usually give a pacifier and she will go back to zzz. If she does not, I will have no choice but to feed her.)

I am pumping now for my next attempt. Snowger, haha... true.. all the costs of bottles add up can buy me a upmarket and new Hp!

Phyl: Drag the feed? Means even if baby is hungry and crying also dun give nipple until baby accept the bottle? I tried the 2nd method. It dun work for my girl. She spit the bottle teat out the moment i give it to her and she start her bawling again. I am at my wits end.

Emeraldbride: My baby crying can be non-stop lei..sometimes she cry until her lips tremble and lost her voice. Aiyo so heart pain to see her like that.

So far, how long does it take to train babies to accept bottle feeding?

I wonder how she survived the baby days when there 6 babies!!! Amazing... I rem Kate making edible play dough for the kids! If not wrong is flour, honey n peanut butter...

But now they are now toddlers, like quite fun! *hehe* when I told my hb I want 6 kids, he almost fainted. *Erhmmm*
 
ivy, me not getting the prices for the milk powder liao. since jolynash can get a better price for enfalac, i believe other brands will be cheaper too.

Actually I dunno if u wanna try to call the Wyeth Gold hotline. They told me they have consultants who can ans child-care questions. Since they sell formula, I am sure they won't mind giving u tips on how to get baby to drink fr bottle. *haha*

Can try to pacify her with her tu tu? Usually if mine cry too hard for milk (i.e. dun even stop when i stick the teat in), her tu tu (aka boyfriend) does wonders! In desperation, can try to talk to ur baby when she is full and in the "play" mode. Explain to her that mama need to go work n she will hv to drink milk milk fr bottle. Then tell her that she has to try e bottle later n be good ger. Sometimes it might work!

i really envy those mummies who is back to work without pumping.. haiz..

Mrs wong told me that baby dun give too much of pacifier.. sometimes it cus of the pacifier they wont wan to drink milk. cus they keep sucking n sucking they will eventually tout they have already drink milk. Hehee but still im giving my gal a pacifier, she already get use to it when she suppose to sleep. But when she's in lala land she will puiz out the pacifier haha

I oso thot so leh! But not the case, if my ger really wan milk hor, tu tu push inside her mouth she will immediately push out. Cos for the middle of night time one, think she not really hungry lah (only wan to suck suck for fun)... tat's y can bluff with pacifier.

Usually if I give at 6am, i will pull out the pacifier at 6.45am (if she still has it) and let her wake naturally. Usually she takes abt 15mins to 1/2hr to wake up and "realise" she is hungry... As my hubby say "Hungry means hungry one la... Where got eat tu tu and think she is full liao?" *haha*
 
Wah.. I did a stupid thing to my girl just now to make her drink from bottle.

I place a nipple shield over the bottle teat and finally she start to suckle and drank 1 oz..

My girl also same.. When push in tutu, meaning sleeping time.. no sleep no tutu.. hahaha!!! once she zzzz i pull out..

At times.. i pull out too fast.. she not yet really zzz.... she wll wail.. OOPS!!! then i got to start to coax her all over again....

Same leh.. if she want milk, no matter how i push the tutu in.. she also dun wan to suck lor.. how to bluff her...
 
Dbaby - If my bb drinks FM at 10:30pm, she'll sometimes wake up at either 3+am or 5+am. Usually she'll suck her fingers very loud or bang my pillow (cos she's sleeping between us). After feeding her, I'll put her back on the bed regardless of whether she's asleep or not. Then i'll switch off the lights. Usually, she'll fall asleep herself after some time.. :p
 
My boy recently milk intake drop always cant finish his 120ml of milk. He sleep quite alot in the day lei. Usually after milk will play awhile then napfor abt 1.5hrs then milk again. During the nite depends on wat time is the last feed. Sometime drink at 10pm and wake up at 6am. Last nite i wake up at 130am cos last feed was 8pm. then all the way till 930am then drink milk.

Worry he is not taking enough.

How can Zach onie drink 4x todae!! 7.30am, 11.30am, 4.30pm and then 9.30pm..is it normal?? Not that I dun wanna give him leh, he is sleeping past is feeding time oso..juz now i tot he wanna drink at 8.30pm so i went n mix his FM, came out onie he fell asleep liao..
 
gals, i think it's normal that ur babies' milk intake drop cos when my boy is 3mths, his milk intake also drop and i did check wi his PD. PD say it's ok cos baby will cry for milk if he is hungry. my boy is 3mths 2wks+ now and his milk intake is back to normal.

today my boy also sleep past his milk time. 930am, 130pm, 430pm then 930pm. some of the feed cant finish his 120ml lei. waste my bm.

My gal takes abt 2 weeks to total accept bottle feeding. cos during these 2 weeks sometime she accept bottle sometime she doesnt. depend on her mood.
i have try all the methods mention but none works.

there was once in the middle of the night, bottle feeding fails.( she uses bottle in that morning). She cry very loud. heart break. cry with her. in the end launch on. no choice.

The method the finally works are
1) ask someone else feed
2) dont give up
3) never never think of launching on again, you have to think tat if ur gal dont accept bottle she will have no food after you go back to work. ( tis is wat my sister told me ( lecture me lah) coz i always give in to my gal)
4) keep praying to God

I miss those launching on days................

it use to be 6 feeds per day but out of the sudden he sleep more and drink less. Yesterday nite after the 930pm feed this morning he wake up at 630am for milk and only drink 80ml lei. Till now still sleeping.. I worry he dun have enough milk
 
jappooh, last nite Zach woke up at 2.30am instead for milk wich is 5hrs later. I hope he is not adopting the 5hr interval ler.. then at 6.30 he wake up again but tis time i put him back to sleep..ten 7.30am onie i wake him up..at least one hr of sleep is better than nothing

My siao boss ah..at first ask me to go back earlier, now i plan everything nice nice liao, she sms me last nite ask me to finish all my maternity leave first! I bought air ticket back to Malaysia for Apr (tinking to clear my maternity leave then).. now..i oso dunno..sigh! And the worst thing is at first thought starting work early, i begged the IFC to accept Zach earlier and they agreed, now i prob hv to tell them stick to original plan.. sure kena ban..haha

my boy after the 630am feed now 1030am then drink again.

aiyo why your boss like that. Then end up in apr u have to take your own leave? For me i am clearing 4 mths straight. For the IFC maybe still can discuss with them. if not take it as a time for Zach to get use to the new environment and for u can rest and relax abit b4 go back to work.
 
brought kayson for his mcu on thur. he was hapi coz go gai gai, kip smiling. den once he in d room wif d dr n nurses, he cry coz they gonna insert catheter into his bladder. poor ting. stupid dr muz b no confidence, don let mi stay inside d room when she insert cathter. finish liao den let mi go in hold his hands as he was strapped down to d bed. heartpain sia. hope results r normal so i can stop antibiotics. he take for almost 2mths oreadi. sianz.

what's the ratio of hindmilk and foremilk when you keep your BM in the fridge?
sometimes i'm seeing about 3oz of hindmilk (thicker color) and 6oz of foremilk (lighter color) in a total of 9oz milk.. is it normal??
 
last time they did d lumbar puncture oso asked me to wait outside.... so its due to their poor skill!! 1MO, 1rank abv MO and 2 nurses during the whole procedure... done ard 12+ midnite then. The reason they gv me was afraid iget too emotionaln hinder their operation

You can add some hot water to it so that some of the alcohol content evaporates. Then take it right after you nurse your girl, so that very very little of it will enter your BM. That's what I did when I was taking DOM during my confinement.

Actually, if you are tired, you can also try chicken essence? I find that it works for me, to give a temporary boost when I'm feeling tired. That one should also be quite safe for BF.

no la. tt dae my boi dr was a house officer nia. if stay inside, will give them pressure. hear bb cries oreadi veri heartpain. imagine u c them do. will b even worst one. furthermore, got registar around, no need scare. they veri skillful one. =)

take the Yomeishu rite after u nurse your gal. Onyl nurse your gal again after 3 hrs taking Yomeishu or Dom. By then the alcohol evaporates liao. That wat the lady told me when i call up the breastfeeding supporting group when i nurse my 1st boy 3 yrs ago. Cos that time i am so tired but dun dare to take cos i tbf him.

aqeel tries to turn over but his hands always get in the way.. he'll flip halfway, see his hand and suck at the hand with such glee that he gives up on the flipping! haha... both his big bro and i can't wait for him to get mobile.

normal! TBF 1 or 2weeks can dun poo de.. thats my PD said. and usually BM poo is very watery

btw. i think jowin ask the slpzz see if we buy more got more discount anot. if more then we all share! hehe
