looks like we are having the same problems with our MILs.

My MIL also like to act as if she knows. Like to inspect rather than action. My hubby also give up on her. She dun even bother wans to look after my girl. Once my girl finished her milk, she lay her flat down, I wan to faint when I see tat. My hubby told her cannot do this then she raise my girl up. The worse thing is she still ask like tat carry correct a not har...
Basically, she has forgotten how to look after babies.

I'm new here and hope you ladies don't mind me joining in.

I was reading all the posts, took me quite a long while. I'm pumping and only latch my boy at nite cos i wanna sleep. I read somewhere in this thread that i should wear tight bra? why? Mrs Wong from TMC parentcraft told me to wear looser and no underwire bras... conflicting?

i put on 3kg during this cny... polished 3 tubs of pineapple tarts myself. now i'm having a little sore throat liao and so worried that i might pass to my baby...

"The refrigerator trick. This is where you rinse your horns and/or collection bottles after each pumping session. You put them in a ziplock bag (or not, this is optional), and put them in the refrigerator. The idea is that since breast milk is good in the fridge for 5-8 days, any residue left on the horns won't matter. Then you can wash the horns/bottles once at night. I throw mine into the dishwasher (all except the white membranes) and it's easy, easy, easy!"

best thing is, i forgot to rinse the pump! i just keep them inside invidual ziploc and keep in fridge. hope my boi is ok. i have 3 sets of funnel set n this helps me to get away wif the washing n rinsing wif hot water after every 3 pump. hee.. me damn lazy man
 
I wish to rant. This CNY all schedules have gone haywire. We are out either busying shopping or gone visiting till 10+ or 11pm!! All pumping schedules all gone. SS dwindles to trickles! Vex! Do u guys let your bb go home so late?? I'm so mad we are always making it home this late and its really late by then I finish giving bb her wipe down....haiz.......

welcome!! i tink i stated to wear tight bra. its for mummies who wana stop bf. hav to wear tight bra to prevent more engorgement. hehe. if bf, wear loose n comfy bra w/o wires. =)

Thanks! Will wearing tight bras cause blocked ducts? how about the cup size? have to be tight too? good to know, i took the pill to stop bf and breast shrunk! at least by 1.5 my normal cup size! very sian... and i put on a LOT of weight immediately after i stop. am determine not to let that happen again.

i am oso putting my ger to infantcare coming mon, she wld jus turn 8 wks.. my mom is suppose to look after her actually,initially i told her that it's been yrs that she had not look after baby, she said no problem cause baby only eat, sleep & poo... but after i've trained her for 1 wk, she told me she cannot make it, luckily i got backup plan to put her into infantcare... so after jus one wk, she stop coming my plc to help...sigh...

i think the wearing of bra will depends on ur bra size??? if u r busty, then u wld require more support?? i am small thus, no underwire works for me...i am pumpin everyday 5-6times cause my ger dun latch since day 1.

mum2ndx, u meant after pumpin, jus keep everything in the fridge and use them again? i am so tired of washing & washing...

if eat pills to stop, it wun caused bloacked ducts. hav taken d pill for both preg. hehe. cup size depends on wat size u wear. juz make sure its tight fitting will do. my breast so far din shrink when i took d pill twice. juz saggy n not firm.
 
Emeraldbride: It was quite funny when you think about it. But then heartache cos the scotch-tape is directly onto the baby's skin leh. So jia lat..luckily it is those 3M type of type, not too sticky. So it fell off once you pick him up as he had no shorts on, just the diaper.

Ikeiki... me too..my baby's drinking regime went haywire. Worse thing now is that he is refusing his bottle! He has been enjoying every feed on the breast. Now he sees the milk bottle, he will start crying then look at me with those puppy eyes. Once latch on, he can smile and smile during drinking.

BTW, any other mothers facing this issue? How do I get the baby back on bottle? He used to take bottles in the day for most feeds then around 9pm start latching on for night feeds till 6am. Pls help!!!

errrr .. I actually don't know for sure how much the pneumoccocal injection is .. I just paid for whole package (for the mandatory jabs) and added in the amt for the pneu and rota ... so I just happy happy paid without looking at the breakdown .. lol. The pneu injection is paid per injection as u said .. but I dunno how much it is .. lol.

I assumed that since fabbie said that the TMC package for the pneu and rota is $630 .. I agak agak that the pneu is 400 plus and the rota is around $200 ... hahahah .. obviously I was wrong since now you're telling me that the pneu is already $150 per injection .. lol.

reagarding overfeeding -
I TBF too .. and yes it's on demand .. if I've just fed her, and she cries, I try to see if it's for some other reason first lor ... wet diaper, want to be carried, etc .. before i feed her again.

When I or my maid or my hubby carry her, and she starts trying to suckle then I know, bo pian, she wants to drink again.

As long as you're offering your breast when your baby wants it, and not as a solution everytime he cries, then it's not overfeeding I guess.

you can try getting another person to bottlefeed him. else if you feed him, he will never take the bottle cos he can smell you and the delicious bosom! my boy was given the bottle and my breast from birth so he is quite ok both ways. though he tend to prefer the bottle in the day and breast at nite. he is starting to sleep through the nites nowadays.

ah bur, thanks too. but a bit worried about not washing all the bottles, teats and pumping accessories... but my cousins just wash and drip dry all the bottles and accessories, didn't even steam or boil... gal is still healthy and happy and still can scream very loudly...

thanks for your advise. I tried that also. The only way that my hubby could feed him with the bottle was to lie him in the position that I used for breastfeeding (i.e. lying down position)!!
But it is still a struggle lor. He will still look at you with the puppy eyes and cry while pushing out the teat.
My boi did have both bottle and breast since birth and he was also ok both ways till recently after his vaccination. He was super teh and mummy spoilt him by letting him have the boobie the whole day lor cos he was whining lor. Now regret..sighz....

Fabbie: I probably can't meet up. Going back to work in feb liao. Not clearing all the ML as there is project at work lor.

Ah Bur.. I think sometimes put at infant care also good. It can lessen any possibility of strains between parents and children. Of cos, your mum can help to babysit for a couple of hours in the weekend next time when you go pak tou...

The infant care that we're going to send Bryan is NTUC Infantcare at Jurong West. It is hot 'cos there are no other infant care centres around this area.

My boy will have his jabs on Monday and start his infantcare on Wed for 1/2 day till friday. I'll be back to work on the following Monday. If you girls are meeting on Wed, I'll see if i can join you 'cos I miss the earlier one last week

My house cant. i got 5 dogs and i felt my living room is so dirty that i didnt even sit there for weeks lol..

bunnipet, my bb also rejecting bottle. So sian.. not me feeding him oso he dun wanna drink from bottle. He rather not drink u noe..he will cry n cry n cry..till everyone surrender and ask me to offer breast! I m trying to give him bottle in the day time since i will be starting work in another month but so far onie manage to give him bottle once todae..later will give him another time. For night feeding i usually latch easier dun hv to wait for the EBM to be heated up..else he will scream the whole house down.

Fabbie, i coming back on 15th Feb nite time.. guess i hv to give this gathering another miss liao but the next one all can come to my place.. got few places for bbs to lie, cot, yao lan, baby gym, changing mat, beds, mattresses..

previously my boy has been rejecting bottle & at first i tot he prefer to suckle coz everytime when i offer him bottle, he will head away & look for my breast, he only drink very little until one day he totally refused to drink from bottle then i changed all my bottle to NUK & he accepted it, now no matter how much i offer him, he will definitely finish all, wow i really find this NUK teat is amazing coz last time he hardly finished all the milk! now he's starting to ask for more, think i'm going to increase his intake to maybe 5oz, will it be too much?

btw, for those using NUK big bottle, how do u warm up the milk ar? coz i'm using Avnet warmer but it's not tall enough for NUK 8oz bottle ler, does NUK hav their own bottle warmer?

Guess my gal has the same problem and I also got NUK silicone teat but still screaming murder. She will really hold out until I offer my breast. You are using NUK Latex?

nuk bottles good? im been using avent but my boi hardly finishes his milk. dozes off before finishing n smtimes even scream when i juz place d teat in his mouth. tinkin if i shud change my bottles anot. i got lots of avent one from my elder boi. =(

actually i dun really like NUK bottle but my boy can only accept NUK teat so i boh bian change lor... reason is bcoz NUK bottle very slim & tall & if later i change to big (8oz) bottle then i hav problem to heat up EBM using my Avent warmer (now still thinking how to solve the problem) coz tat warmer can only fit in NUK small 4oz bottle, same problem too if i using Avent sterilizer coz NUK bottle too tall liao la... secondly NUk bottle neck too narrow for the FM spoon...

i also hav a lot of BN Avent bottles & teats from my elder boy, now hav to chuck aside lor... if u not sure ur boy will like NUK or not then u can juz buy one bottle & try out first, at least wont waste too much money if he dun like...

NUK have 2 diff types of bottle. One is the one u describe another is the preiunm bottle which is a wide neck like avent.

At first i let my boy try the wide neck bottle cos my elder boy (my elder when born try avent then switch to NUK wide bottle) using that also but he dun really like it though he still take his milk but not very smooth (will turn here and there). So i check to NUK slim bottle and he like it. Everything finish his milk.

As u say the heating up part i also not sure lei cos my boy now still using the 4oz bottle. But very fast will have to change liao cos he is taking 4oz of milk now.

i oso don reali like nuk coz narrow neck. hehe. but he likes to suck on his tutu which is similar to nuk teats. haiz. mayb will check out d wide neck nuk bottles which japooh describle.

Long time since I last posted. My poor gal is down w blocked nose, jus brought her to the clinic to suck out her phlegm, she almost cry the whole clinic down! so heart pain to see her cry like tat..

My pumping time also went haywire during CNY, drag from 2 hourly pumps to 6-7 hourly pumps.. breast damn pain cos of enorgements.. but now I can at least slp thru during the nite.. so tats the gd news.. hee

Cfm the time n plc liao let me noe ya.. me also wanna join. During the previous gatherings, My bb not full mth yet.. Now I can run ard liao.. Hopefully I can cope w the bb outside..

btw, why ur boy prefer wide neck instead of slim bottle? aren't both using same teat?

my boy prefer the slim bottle then the wide neck.
The teat is a bit diff in the way that is fatter at the bottom. the top shape is the same. I might wan to let my boy try to wide neck one again cos i have a few new bottles at hm.

Maybe when he just born the mouth dun open so big so when he suck the wide neck teats is like so big for him. But now i find the slim neck one teats like so small for him cos look like the whole teat going to his mouth like that specially when he is hungry..haha..

BTW,
i just bought a pigeon pacifier for him. He is taking well as well. actually dun wan to give him that but my MIL keep asking me to give cos he cry more than my 1st boy. my 1st boy dun take pacifier.

yaya sometimes i also feel that the whole teat is like going to be swallowed by my boy when he is super hungry... wah in tat case think i need to spend money again to change to wide neck bottle... think my #2 more problem than #1 coz i nv had this kind of problem before... my #1 will take watever we offer him, his only problem is only sleep thru after 8mths... for #2, i'm still waiting for miracle to happen...

my #1 is when take other teats can only finish half the milk. Take NUK one slightly better but still cant finish but he take super long to finish his milk.. My #1 all along dun like milk one. He sleep through when he is 4 mths.

Now #2 take milk fast and more. Can finish all the milk at most of the time. Only yesterday he vomite his milk like merlion lei and refuse to drink milk. I think cos his stomach pain. Today he is better. Now during nite he wake up for him at 4hrly sometime can tong till 5 hrs. hw usually sleep at 10pm then wake up ard 3am then 7am. Hope he can drag longer so that i can sleep thru.

Now the problem is my #1 suddenly start wake up for milk during the nite also. He is turning 3 next wk. He problem is his milk intake really terrible only drink 4oz. He take alot of solid lar.
 
I'm up for the gathering! Will be returning to part-time work on Feb 16, but can try to arrange to be off on the day that you girls are gathering. Would love to meet all of you and your babies

i juz bought 2 narrow neck nuk bottles. like wat u guys say, its looks as thou my boi gonna swallow d whole teat. so funni. but he seems to take it beta dan avent bottles. now tinkin shud buy more wide neck or narrow neck. d teat is size 1 medium? like veri slow flow?

my elder one luv to drink milk, he can drink a bottle of 220ml before & after meal... but he doesn't like solid food...

wah so fast u go & buy already ar! ya the teat tat comes with the bottle is size 1 medium, which is meant for FM, but i use it for BM too... i find the flow ok ler for FM but for BM a bit too fast liao coz sometimes the milk will leak out... later i'll go & buy wide neck one & hope my boy like it!

its still going to be status quo for us. maid and whoever is home to look after both my elder son and baby boy. worried that they won't be able to manage though. for eg, this afternoon, baby was lying on bed with mil and looked like he was gonna puke. didn't want her to think i was hijacking her time with her grandson, so i jus mentioned it to my mil hinting that she should pick him up and not just patpat, she said that the maid said that baby wanted to sleep! aiyo!! so unflexible... i heck care then and jus picked up my little boy.

bought one NUK wide neck bottle already & tried to feed my son with FM juz now but he fuss/cry again & only drank 1.5oz... tot he rejects the teat then i changed back to the slim bottle but he still refused to drink... at last hubby asked me to try to feed him with EBM & finally he drink 2.5oz... now i really dunno if he reject the wide neck teat or FM ler, shall try again tomolo to feed him EBM with wide neck bottle, if he still refuse to drink mean he dun like the teat bah...
