sorry to hear your frustration! Anybody tried writing to the company for samples? Actually I wanted to try that but din get round to it. My milk supply couldn't keep up with my boi at my stage and I was getting depressed. So in the end, I bought Nan HA small tin then he cut back on his demand. But it seems like Nan is very ex. One small tin 400g is $18? Big one is $38. My SIL recommended this to me and when my boi was hospitalized for his jaundice, he took well to this lor.
Out of curiousity, I need one scoop to make 30ml. Is it true that some other brands require more than one scoop? sorry I very blur and din get to go out to study FM. My hubby just bought one to "destress" mummy. He calls FM - the FATHER's MILK.

So I am not the only one fustrated! I delivered in Dec n am also one lousy cow.. tried getting FM samples , even Karihome for goat's milk, but same reply.. only can give for 6mths onwards. My boy was given Enfalac when he was in NICU so I have been sticking to that. Only prob is he poo every 2-3 days, and sometimes twice a day (in HUGE amt!).. otherwise he's ok with it.. wonder if I shd try other FM brands..

did u try to get samples from tmc? before i left the hospital i asked for milk samples as i didnt even have a drop of bm then.
My gynae recommended enfalac A+ so the nurses gave me a pack of 6 bottles and 6 disposable nuk teats. i found it very convenient as these bottles are ready-to-use.
i asked one of the nurses what their recommendation was for FM. She said depends on what the milk of the month is. At that time was Mamil Gold. But they had supply of enfalac to give me. i do suppose they have other brands as well.
My aunts work in gynae/pd clinics they used to supply us with free milk samples and my mum didnt have to pay for milk powder. Did you manage to try those places?

I have a small unopened tin of Similac stage 1 (0 to 6 months) to sell..anyone interested just PM me ya.. selling off cos my baby onie drink one feed of FM per day and since i alr hv an opened tin in Malaysia, doubt will need the smaller tin (fyi, opened milk powder can onie be kept for 4 weeks!)
for similac, stated 120ml of water need 2scoop..so the milk is not too thick and hence not heaty..

my baby fusses EVERY night from about 12-1am. he doesnt cry very loudly just ek ek ek dunno what he wants. dont think it;s colic judging from his cries.
this is usually after his 11-12am feed. After that he doesnt want to sleep. DIaper changed, clothes changed, give pacifier everything tried.
there is just one thing that definitely works : feed another 30-60ml milk.
but i fear overfeeding him because it's very near his last feeding. This makes his last feed a total of 5-6ounces of milk!
Thereafter he sleeps for at least 4-5 hours. Anyone with the same situation?

recently have creamy stools. u know like mushroom soup those creamy kind but its orange in color. is this normal? she 1 day have creamy stools.. then she didnt shit at all till 3 to 4 days have it again creamy stools also. till her whole pampers overflow! faints..

my boy has the creamy orange stool too, & everytime he poo the amount is very huge & sometimes will kena his birdie & ball...

Juz and Emeraldbride: Thanks for info. So it is true that some FM uses less. So actually.. even though similac is quite ex (cos Zoe Tay endorse..haha) but not too bad if you consider how many feeds it can make.
Mayelynn.. my boi usually will start to fuss from 7pm.. asking for 2hourly milk feed instead of 3hourly then drop off to sleep. Either for 4-6 hours in a stretch lor. He sleeps longer in bed with daddy and mummy. But I only give him such treats in the weekend cos hubby wanna laze in..haha!Otherwise, cot he goes!
BTW.. the formula given to me by my PD is
1) 150ml per kg over 24 hours
2) then for each feed, max vol of 1oz per kg of weight. Therefore, if baby is 5kg, you can give 5 oz at one go.

However, color is yellow. BTW..have you been overdose on orangy things like carrots, tomatoes or oranges???? CNY mandarins??

I give only 1 scoop to make around 2 oz milk for Similac. As Similac is thicker n my baby sometimes wun poo for 2 days and she hate drinking water, we will mix 1 scoop to make around 2.5oz milk. So far can counter the problem of constipation. Also, I worry my daughter will be obese like my niece who drink Similac so we mix it with slightly more water. Her weight gain so far ok.
During my daughter's 2.5months, she develop some phlegm, we worry it is caused by FM. So want to change Similac. I read almost the info on all kind of FM brand. Haha...
I find that for Friso, though 1 can cost around $29 and $39.50 for Similac. Friso need 6 scoops to make 6 oz of milk but Similac need 3 scoops. I dunno if the size of scoop is the same for these 2 or not. Can mum who use Friso advise on this? Cause if same size of scoop, that mean I will have to buy 2 Friso for 1 tin of Similac. Then Similac end up cheaper.
My daughter is turning 4 months soon and she only have 4 or 5 feeds a day. N she sleep throughout the night. Guess this is the good point for paying so much for FM.

My mom oso asked me to dilute the FM in more water so that bb's tummy dun get upset too easily. I usually put 1 scoop of Similac to 100ml of water - almost like BM..so he gets hungry at 3 hrs interval...hehe

bring my son to see PD today coz he nv poo for the past 4 days, so he was inserted enema & finally managed to 'squeeze out' 100gm of shit from his stomach... haha! how i know it's 100gm? coz b4 he poo he was 6kg then we weigh him again after poo then his weight dropped to 5.9kg...

Play this game often. U r helping ur baby's brain capacity grow!

anyone can advise for hotels in KL, what sort of electricity plug is being used? I maybe travelling to KL w baby. just wondering how to boil hot water & also sterilise bottles... really buy an electric kettle & bring along?

u can buy sterilization tablets. just dissolve in water and sterilize ur bottles. the water is re usable after 24hours. i have the pigeon one but nv used. read the instructions once and above is what ive gathered.
hotels should have boilers. if not bring ur own flask and get the hotel to refill them for you loh!

I have taken pic of my Similac scoop. I cant buy a Friso to try out. Since you have Friso, maybe u can take pic or measure the scoop so that we can resolve the problem of whether Similac and Friso scoop is the same. Hehe...
Here is the Similac scoop. To make 60ml (around 2oz) of milk, u only need 1 scoop.
I measure the scoop also. It is 4cm in depth and 2.7cm in diameter. How about urs?

dr juz saw him. most probably can go home tis evening if he drinks 400mls. high chance i cant fit tt target. he juz sucks for 30mins n onli drink 15mls. bought new nuk teats for him to try. trying latex to c if it works beta. anyting i oso will try if he drinks! argh.

Friso.. try Friso COMFORT.. its the same as the normal friso 1 but it has added some carrot thing in it that helps constipated babies.. it only sells in 400g tins and can get it from BIG NTUCs @ $12.20, Guardian and BIG Cold storage for $12.00 and neighbourhood shops for $11.50.
PD says that Friso COMFORT is better than the normal Friso.. provided your baby is "problematic" with poo-ing, wind, constipation.. blah blah.. like my son la.. he once poo-ed yellow rubber bullets..
the Friso scoop is half the size of the similac scoop.. i usually dilute the FM with 20-30mls more water..coz hayden drinks more BM so if the FM too thick he very silly.. dunno how to drink. haha

haha..ivy..i think better dun change lah..if ur boi is ok w similac then go ahead lor..i change from friso to dulac after i finish the 1st tin..so he can adapt quite fast..unless u think he is drinking too much n ur pocket cannot tahan..
