I alr ask my CL to steam fish for me everyday! In fact I alr bought 1 packet of frozen cod fish and few other fishes from market yesterday. Today ask her to boil papaya soup and cook mee sua with kidney for lunch and mee sua with fish and papaya soup for dinner! Hahaha.. Will ask her to boil papaya soup consecutively for few days, see if my supply will go up. Actually if i pump after latch, i get abt 60ml and if i pump without latching, can get max 120ml but i still feel it is very low.. my baby is increasing his intake liao now that he is in his 3rd week todae. He woke up every 3 hrs yesterday to feed..
 


i bought a munchkin milk powder container to store milk powder when we go out. Do we need to sterilise that first as well?

Super kiasu, everything abt bb also must sterilise..hahaha

wah u are really going hardcore on the milk production!! =) I think ur supply quite good wat.. U must know that pumping is definitely not as efficient as the bb latching on and feeding directly.. when bb become more experience with bf, they sometimes only need 10 min to get full.. and waking up every 3 hours is normal..

think my milk ss starting to drop, I DUNNO WHY & very worry!!!

i'm now on TBF, most of the time i will latch my bb on & only giv EBM 1-2 times esp b4 bb bedtime coz i wan to make sure bb drink enough so can sleep longer... the reason why i think my milk ss drop is bcoz
1). yesterday i pumped i only got 140ml, compared to previous which i could easily get 180-200ml for both breast within 15mins
2). these few days my breast always feel soft soft de even though my bb dun latch for 4-6hrs

i dunno if it occurs due to my bb latch on duration or not, coz nowadays my bb is sucking lesser & lesser timing, ie he only suck for 5-10min (mostly 5min) then dun wan to continue liao eventhough he is awake, and worst is only for one side only... and he is like that during every feed lor, one side only for less than 10mins, now i wanted to pump more also cannot coz i always feel my breast soft soft even though in early morning unlike last time, VERY WORRY laa!

i tried to call GlenE for BF-ing mother support grp but no one answer the call ler? anyone got recommendation for good lactation consultation?

i think ur body is getting use to the demands of ur bb.. after a while.. ur breast shouldn't feel hard.. they would be producing enough just for ur bb.. ur bb after feeding does not cry and feel angry rite?? bb is getting more efficient at extracting milk.. more experience!!

if ur bb is happy and not feeling agitated when u feed bb, then i dun think u shld worry..

but if u still need help... u can call tmc..
 
gerry, mabbe cos this is my 1st child and i really wanna give him BM for as long as I can so I will wanna try all means to increase my ss! Before giving birth, alr in my mind i wanna bf him for 6 months at least..i hope this wish of mine will still materialise mabbe not latch on at later stage but at least he will still get EBM. i alr plan to stop latching him one after 6th week since I will be taking care of him alone, EBM is better so that he can sleep longer and I hv time to do housework, cook and do my other stuff..

Hi mummies,

any good pump to recommend? The pigeon electric pump im using reali can't pump at all...very disappointed. Heard Medela PIS very good but can't afford a new one, is too ex. Anyone letting go their preloved?
 
Peggy, can get 2nd hand PIS Advanced from TMC paretncraft, its $300 with 6 mths warranty according to mrs wong.

emeraldbride, dun know leh, that's wat my CL said. but my paosheng is very small in pcs and she ask me to use 4-5pcs oni. I oso hving my girl's full mth next week, got to spread over both sat & sun cause my hubby's family is simply too big, got at least 80 ppl from both side of my hubby family... sigh... gg to spend again... to think my MIL still ask for 40 boxes of cakes...my CL say, huh, how come got buffet still must give cakes...so i gotten the cheapest ones from Gin thye... hehehe... my mom wanted those from sweetsurprise, she oni need 12 boxes, so we got her those.

bubble, u feeling better? hehehe, me got 6days to go, but my CL around till i am 40days, lucky she not that strict, oni certain food cannot eat till over 40days... i still get to bathe every alt. days...

Anyone got baby who keeps waking up or doesn't want to sleep. my girl now 3wks+, keeping staying awake in the daytime, nite time oso keeps waking up... now i got my CL to look after, i'll be in trouble when she's gone...

I know wat u mean.. I believe u can do it!! =) and plus u really are putting sooo much effort!! I also plan to breastfeed my girl as long as possible.. I would like to do it till she is 6 months but I really dun know wat the situation would be like when I go back to work.. cos sometimes I can work from morning all the till after lunch.. and dun have break.. so dunno whether will be able to find the time to pump.. and u need to pump regularly to maintain milk supply.. sigh.. not thinking about that yet.. now just trying to get to know my daughter better...
 
jes, at least ur bb still latch, i've been feeding her EBM by bt for since she's 2 wks old cause she refuse to latch... been pumpin 7 times a day, my milk supply goes up & down, btwn 80-160ml on both breast....i quite worried my milk suply will stop cause ur body will soon know it's not the bb sucking.
Any experienced mommies can comment?

may i know wad pump u using? cos i dunno is the pump prob or my prob...my baby is also in the 3rd week already, stil latching on and i have never pump out b4, so i don't know exactly how much he drink.

although my bb dun cry or feel agitated after each feed, like last nite after sucking for only 5mins, he slept for 3hrs & continue to poo/pee a lot, but i still feel worry ler... maybe the pump amount that i got yesterday made me feel worry bah... think i better latch him on more often coz i dun wan to stop BF-ing juz like tat... i'm targeting to BF for ONE YEAR, if not at least 6 MONTHS!!

I use the ameda dual electric pump.. It is pretty good and not too expensive.. If I'm not mistaken, robinsons having some sort of promotion.. Can check it out.. Always better to get a new pump cos sometimes 2nd hand ones, the vacumm component no longer as efficient..

U cannot rely on the pump volume as in indication of how much milk u are giving ur bb thru the breast.. not accurate.. usually bb can suck more milk in a faster time,, their mouth are designed for this purpose.. If ur bb not complaining and output is good.. then there must be good input!! Weighing bb is also another good indication that u have enough milk supply.. Ask ur pd.. If bb not growing well.. ur pd will surely let u know.. Dun worry.. bb will eat when hungry just let us adults!!!

There are also times when my baby only latches for just 5-10 mins, instead of her usual 20 mins. However, if she does look satisfied after the feed, and continues to pee and poop, then I'll take it to mean that she's doing okay. I see that your baby is just about 2 weeks ago. At that age, maybe you might want to wake him at 3 hours to try to get him to eat? But after the first two weeks, they should be quite good at waking up when they're hungry.

Good luck with breastfeeding! I also hope you can persevere through. I also intend to bf for as long as I can. Definitely TBF for 6 months, and hope to go on for 1 year or more after that.
 
Peggy, dun think Kiddy Palace sell ameda pump. I bought at Robinsons Centrepoint. U can also get it from distributor Infantree at Tagore Lane too.

hmm i don't know why bb can sleep for 6hrs either... a few times we tried to wake her by changing diaper but she continued sleeping through! Maybe her hunger reflex is not working...but there are also days where she wakes up every hour. She just wants some cuddles. Any pics of your girl? I remember she looked very sweet and delicate

you apply bm to your face after washing and rinse off? hmm... i guess its better than pouring it down the drain. I drank it a few times but its weird... feels kinda like 2nd degree cannibalism. and its not all that tasty either...

I have friends who fed their babies EBM and FM up till 8months without latching on, so i don't think its a prob for u to do that. As long as you continue pumping the ss sld still be there

ya i guess I'm considered very lucky to get some decent sleep. but by the end of 6hrs my breastpads are soaked and leaky, and the moment i carry her i have a let down! very wasted!

Just finish my massage session and now my tummy is burning!

My baby is cranky last nite. Woke up to feed every 2.5hr. Make me so stress, scared my breast not enuf milk for him and coupled with my confinement lady kept coming into my room asking me "baby still sucking? very long liao leh"..well, he wants to suck i cant disallow it rite? Hahaha
 
i already forgot what undistrupted sleep is already...

tamms... envy evny... me dun pump at nite.. coz need to slp.. my last nite pump would be abt 10pm then my next pump is at 6-7am... no choice la.. if i still spend 30-45mins pumping i think i can up my rank to immortal liao.. now zombie only.. keke

so sian.. today hubby need to OT coz CNY plants come liao.. christmas is over... CNY is coming soon liao..
 
Peggy, me using Medela Freestyle! But I tink the breastshield abit too small for me and now my nipple and part of my areola are sore cos of the friction between them and the shield. Pain!

How come u ladies hv let down the moment baby cries or u carry bb ah? I dont have one leh and I so kiasu went n purchase 3 box of breast pad which I guess I will not be needing them anyway.. =/

u can tahan no pump at nite ah? now mi laz pump at 12mn den 6am. nw i onli pump abt4-5x a dae. no time coz need to pay attention to 3 bois. haiz.

Last night my baby kept waking up every 2 hours only to eat for 5-10 mins! Very frustrating. Usually she will take 20 mins and sleep for 3-4 hours, but not last night. I was really tired this morning...

letdown
I can sometimes even feel the letdown coming once I start to get ready the bfeeding pillow! But letdown can be 'trained' or learnt. I read that some women even letdown once they look at a pump! I think you have to be relaxed for the letdown. If I'm having problems with letdown, like I'm too tense, I will try to relax and visualise waterfalls or dams bursting. Hope that it will help my milk to come out faster! hehe..
 
iemiko.. can tahan.. when the choice is sleep or pump.. the obvious answer is sleep.. keke.. sometimes during nite feeds, i will dose off while feeding him.. hahaha..

last nite i time each time i wakie.. keke.. my record is 17mins FLAT! haha.. meaning he cry, i make his milk, change his diaper, feed him and put him back in the cot!! woohoo!! but that din last la.. coz 1hr later he woke up to change diaper again and spent 20mins getting him to sleep again...

i'm starting to take my nites like a game.. haha.. aim is MUMMY OUTWIT BABY before BABY OUTCRY MUMMY!

I guess nowadays with baby, our day can be super unpredictable..
Like last nite.. she was sleeping from 11pm to 2 am.. then after feeding and changing diapers, she went back to sleep only to wake up 1 hr later and subsequently it was every hour!!

Those have reg with Abbott last time for free gift did you all receive it? I have receive it le and i found theres 2 free vouchers that can bring baby to swimming and massage! Yeah! im thinking should use it all in swimming or one swimming one massage? What you think gals?

Today came back from sengkang polyclinic for injection wha.. my gal face turn so red! like breathless sia when the injection poke her! aiyo i see liao so heart pain. But after awhile i pat pat her she's normal liao. lucky is not those contiunes keep crying. ^^ Btw ask you gals are you all jabbing 6 in 1 or 5 in 1? whats the difference of 6 in 1 and 5 in 1???

Btw my uncle told me to go get rotadir. Cus his frd's kid kana this virus and admitted to hospital. so he recommend me to take it. And i realise that only private clinic has it. So next tuesday i have plan to go TMC to get for my gal, Plus to do baby bonus and same time to test breast pump. Mummies can consider taking Rotadir now.. cus after 6 months cannot be take liao.

5 in 1 n 6 in 1 diff is tt 6 in 1 has hep b included. at diff mths, will jab diff one.

rotarix is taken from 6wks onwards n b4 bb is 6mths. prevents severe diahorrea.

chantelle, my hubby like urs too.. turning into a monk liao.. refuse to get intimate.. and I can't slp at nite too!! Bb move too much and too violently in the middle of the nite!! I'm like a walking zombie everyday

Do you come across that BM will not be suitable for bb. I have a problem here, my bb after drinking my EBM she tend to vomit out n he got a lot wind in his tummy n he farts alot. My MIL insist me to stop giving him EBM give him FM instead. After taking FM he dun vomit n fart so often. Nw my MIL tell me that he not suitable to take BM ask me to stop giving him. I veri sad. Should i carry on giving him BM.

fm is slightly thicker which is y bb may not vomit. try applying ru yi oil or give bb winddrop. it will help one. don give up on giving bm k.

bb may be reacting to something u are eating?? Recently, have u eaten any gassy vegs like brocoli, cabbage, cauliflower?? Sometimes, bb may also be allergic to dairy products... Did u take any??

I have try all method, apply ruyi oil, eat jingfengsan gripswater still no use. After drinking FM the wind get better. Does EBM will cause wind. Vegetable me eat alot like "heng cai, kailan etc...cause me scare constipation dairy product me nve take any. Me only drink milo. I really dun noe wat to do

emeraldbride, my PIS's breastshield oso too small, thus i bought the mom&fairy super breastshield size L, which is much more comfortable & the shield is slant so u dun have to sit really upright.

Phyl, wah, u can tahan whole nite dun pump... the most i can tahan is 4 hrs, i used to wake up at 12am, 3 & 6am to pump, now lazy, pump at 10pm b4 i sleep, then wake up at 1.45am & 6am again to pump, my bb will start crying loudly at 8.30am, then i wake up & pump at 9am...

I use medala mini. i think is good enough. is a single electric pump, can use battery also. is around $100+. I used it for my no1 till he is 18 mths. bought anyone one for my no2.
 
u noe, i ate some kai lan yesterday and my bb's poo is green color! Hahaha..but it was only that one poo which my CL juz mentioned. It happened 2 days ago when I ate broccoli as well and we all thought bb had a scare..haha
 
bur, i also bought the breastshield from mumsfairy and size L too! I realise L is too big, should have gotten M instead cos the breastshield from Medela is 24mm and the M from MumsFairy is 29mm, so shuld be juz nice.. tat's y i seldom use..
