Emeraldbride, at least u hv 60ml, I dun even want 2 express my BM at all cos at Day6 I only managed to yield a pathetic 10ml from both breasts T__T. Expressing only makes me sad so now I'm feeding on demand. Whenever bb cries I feed. Like that, I get less upset....
Increasing liquid intake is essential for milk production. A normal cnfinement day I drink 1large slow cooker of reddate/longan drink, 2large bowls of fish soups and 1milo not including gravies(unsalted) n meal time soups. Is this amt enuff??

I just encountered my first milk blister and it was super pain! A milk blister happens when milk gets clogged under the top layer of skin; something like an ingrown hair, but with milk. Can read more about it here: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nipplebleb.html
I've been feeling nipple pain on my left side for the last few feeds, and thought it was just because Emma wasn't latching well. At the same time, I was also getting engorged on my left breast, which was strange because I'm on total direct latch. Then by this afternoon, the pain from the engorgement became very unbearable. I tried to pump out, but no milk was flowing. Then it was time to feed Emma, so I tried to latch her on the affected side, but she refused to latch, so I got her to feed on the other side instead. The pain from my left side got worse and worse, to the point that I could not even raise my arm! I could feel the hardness on my left breast but the funny thing was that the hardness was only on one side of my breast. So I did a Google and found out that I have a milk blister.
I spent about 1 hour trying to pop the blister. Basically I soaked my nipple in a bowl of very warm water, massaged my breast and tried to pump. After some time, the skin covering of my blister softened, so I could pick at it with my hand (through a clean tissue, of course). After several attempts of picking, massaging and pumping, I finally burst the blister and the milk came flowing out through the pump. What a relief! I'm in a lot less pain now.
Will continue treatment by putting nipple cream so that the broken skin can heal. I probably won't try to latch Emma on that side for now, because of the pain, but will continue to pump instead to clear the blockage. Hopefully I will be able to heal in the next few days and get her back to latching on both sides.

ikeike..only 6th day, persevere on ya.. the supply will increase soon! today 10ml, pump later will increase..latch bb, then pump if the pump cannot empty ur breast, try using ur hand! BB woke up and drank 30minutes then totally KO liao...milk aplenty to fill his tummy.. next feed shuld be 1am bah.. later will go pump then oi oi..

btw.. i have alittle lump at my left breast below.. i duno is it because of this lump i got high fever. if i sleep on my left side.. which im pressing my left breast i can feel so pain! my massage lady told me it could due with choke as once choke will have high fever. haiz.. so gals. remember do pump ya. and make sure theres no lump! if not will get very high fever.. sighz now im trying my best to massage and put hot water.. so that my little lump will go off. hopefully will go off soon haiz,.

that is a milk blister. i had it.. During my stay in hospital, i already had it but the hard lump inside my breast are still not detected.. Mrs Wong use a syringe to suck out the blister for me... Then on 2 occasions, i also have this blister n felt super hard lump into my breast. Then i try to massage n after 2 pumps, the hard lump went away. BUT TODAY, i saw the blister again n went to poke it.. the blister broke and alot of milk came out.. the lump just disappear as the milk flows out...

so strange for baby not with me for the 2nd nite. still hospitalised for jaundice. yest when i visited him, he was searching for breast... and it was the longest time he ever latched on. i woke up at 2am with v heavy breasts, try pumping & managed to see 10ml from left breast n nothing from right breast.
i finally weight myself yest, 5 days after giving birth & 2 days of massage. after putting on 16kg, i only managed to lose 5kg. chaim, i must have put on a lot of fats... coz the 5kg should be baby's wt, placenta, etc etc.

tink I'll not wake up to purposely pump Liao. still yielding same result of 50 - 60 ml no matter wat time I pump. Sian.. rather sleep n get my energy level up.

My Birth Story
on 12 Dec 2008
6am i woke up feeling panty is wet, went to toilet & check & smell. doesn't smell like urine, doesn't look like my yellowish pregnancy time urine too. shout for husband, he thot i urine so bo chap.
6.10am after 10mins later, i saw pink stain on toilet paper, shout for husband to come, he said he doens't see any pink stain.
6.20am feel gush of discharge, went toilet again, shout for husband again coz really v obvious pink stain. i did have gynae appt at 10+am that day, but decided to go to delivery suite straight. Trying to get myself ready to hospital. in meantime waterbag keep leaking... change a few pads & panty. husband left for work, he said he will come down once i call... i told him to try settle his work by noon n be down.
7am on cab alone, reach KKH, went to McD to have brealfast 1st. u never know if u really cannot eat then how.
8am register at delivery suite. check by nurse, confirm it's waterbag n symptoms of going into labour. strap to ctg machine at triage.
9.30am start having sth like menses cramps (didn't know that contractions feel like cramps) & backache starts.
10.30am finally have a room at delivery suite, went toilet, change into the gown, strap to ctg again.
11.00am Drip inserted & had a shot of antibiotics coz Strep B carrier.
12.50pm VE done. dilation only of finger tip. Insert tablet to get cervix dilated faster.
2.05pm Husband reaches delivery suite.
2.30pm ask for permission to eat, had filet o fish.
3.30pm Contractions every 2 mins, 3cm dilate, ask for epidural.
5.00pm Anaesthetist came (finally after like 1.5hr, coz he was caught up in an emergency case)
6.19pm Urine cathether inserted.
7.00pm 4cm dilate, confirm waterbag fully ruptured, contraction not strong, 3 drips altogether - think it's glucose, antibiotics & oxytoxin (to encourage contraction)
8.00pm Night shift staff took over. The midwife is Salamah. Cho went home.
9.00pm change another tube of epidural...
10.11pm 5cm dilate

3.49am 7cm dilate, ask for higher dose of epidural, coz whole nite can't zzz due to contraction. they give me another 2hrs to see if still progress, if not have to emergency c-section. anyway, the higher dose of epidural doesn't help, contraction pain.
6.00am fully dilate. phew, don't need c-section. lower down epidural.
7.00am Salamah going home. Midwife Joyce Heng took over. when she needs to run to another room, a sister came to help. took some time to learn now to push, i was too tired to push too - after so many hrs of pain & vomit & sleepless night. Throughout whole process only 1 midwife n husband in room (ya, think subsidised pt doesn't have any Dr, even MO, during delivery). Confirm epistomy is unavoidable.
9.28am Ambrose is born.
9.31am Husband cut cord. The midwife put baby on my tummy. he opened one eye to look at me. so strange, he doesn't seem to look like me or husband. throughout his time at warmer, he is rather alert. Baby is 2.995kg, 50cm in Ht, 33.7cm for head circ.
27.5hrs of Labour, from the start of two symptoms. Throughout the whole process, i keep vomitting non-stop & of coz contraction pain. After stitching up (by HO) & still vomit, i had ovaltine & lunch (no appetite for lunch). I'm so pro - natural birth that if u let me choose again whether i want a 27.5hrs of labour & end up w natural birth; or elective c-section. i will choose the 1st.
The midwife spilt some of the cord blood which is for donation, in the end the SCBB staff came to me later in ward to tell me that they can't bank in coz just fall slightly short of new blood cell.
finally got a bed at Ward 32, B2+ ward. only chinese in ward, seems that their muslim food is nicer than mine. the food is indeed pathetic, coz subsidised ward can't choose menu, portion also small, and doesn't have anything of confinement food at all.
discharged after 1 night of stay, on Sun. they say me & baby both ok... on Mon (following day) baby will get screening at polyclinic & i will have follow-up appt at polyclinic 6 weeks later.

5.00pm Anaesthetist came (finally after like 1.5hr, coz he was caught up in an emergency case) <= 1.5hr?! if its me i already faint liao..
so sianz. im like still running a fever.. i cant feel myself hot. or when people touch my forehead they dun feel hot or warm. but when i poke the thermometer into my ear is say 38! but i dun feel myself feverish leh. this is so weird! i try to poke on everyone's ear everyone is like 36c - 37c.. i wondering is it my thermometer got problem or what. haiz. damn sianz

How can KKH discriminate between class till such serious case that dun even have doctor on duty during ur delivery? But anyway, luckily u survive.
For mum with baby down with jaundice, seems that it is quite a common problem with Asian babies. My daughter also, though not serious to be warded for this. I try TCM to bring her jaundice level down and it works for her. You can go any Chinese Medical shop, ask them for Ng Gi (Hokkien pronounication) or medicine to bring down jaundice. They will know. Then you put some in their bath and some under their pillow.

fabbie...me kena fever again ytd!!!! this is the 3rd time during my 11th day of confinement!! i was up to 40 degree..really cmi..my milk flow also v slow..then i realise it was my bra making my nipple sore and pain ....i need support wired bra..later gog back home and take them...those nursing w/o wire..really cannot make it!

ya...i agree w ypg..i also get that Ng Kee seeds for my bb to bath..boil the seeds w water n pour in the bath to bath the bb..and at the same time take a red packet n put those not so hard one seeds..those cracked and put in the red packet.
on last fri, my boi jaundice was abt 153 and followup chkup on mon..it was down to 105

plain water: wah...i cannot tahan keep drink the red dates water..n i just have 3 full cup of water this early morning after my boi morning feed...when no one is in the kitchen!! it was so shiok!!

Oh mine.. i having fever also 40 degree on and off leh.. si bei jialet also.. why u need a wired bra??? they say we having a high fever is due to engorgement leh.. and i feel abit little lump at my left breast.. do you have pains on your breast? or little lumps? poor you lar.. 3 times tio fever. me only 1 time. from yday till now. on and off.. -____- damn sickneing de... Oh btw. you visit doc normal? you got tell him u got fever?? what he say?

Oh btw. you visit doc normal? you got tell him u got fever?? what he say?
Xiaopooh/Iemik0 - Upon discharge they never give me meds to clear bowels leh. So far only on 2nd day after ops, they insert for me enema. Then after that no more. I currently taking only my gynae's med to clear bowels. But accumulate a few days that's y become hard and big and difficult to pass though got the urge. Managed to clear yesterday with the help of enema bought fr medical hall. Sorry for being so gross. 
2nd Baby/Loveangel - Ok. Will standby prune juice for future usage. Thanks for ur suggestion.
Jowin - I also hv similar pain as urs. My C-sect wound is not painful le. But the strange thing is it's the part next to the wound (left side) i feel got burning sensation. The pain killer doesn't even relief the pain i felt there. I ask my gynae but he asked me not to strain myself. I doubt i strained myself. Suspect maybe when he pull bb out, could hv accidentally pulled something there. Haiz.
2nd baby - Wow! u pump 6x per day ah? So far i only pump 2-3x per day. No wonder after pumping i still feel my breast abit hard and leaking milk the next morning. Looks like gotta be more diligent with pumping. But i notice i lose weight very fast with pumping. Abt 500g to 1kg per day. Wonder if it's normal or i'm losing weight too fast? As for fruits, my mum only allow me to eat papaya and no other fruits. Felt so miserable.

Juz: I wash the bottles & pump with Pigeon liquid cleanser after each use...and sterilize after each wash. I'll accumulate enough bottles & pump parts to fill up the sterilizer else waste electricity.

Pris, I buy calling card for her to call back home. Calling card costs abt $8.50 and its cheaper rather than use house phone to call overseas. When u just hire a new maid, the new maid will have to pay loan to the agency, meaning that each mth, u will give them $10 or $20 salary for about 6 months. After that, will be full paid salary. The loan they took from agency we will have to pay first, so that's y each mth, we only give them $10 or $20 salary depending on their loan amount.

actually did consider investin in an electric pump, but i prob will only BF for 3 mths, aft i rtn to work, i wun b BF. cuz ofc only got toilet wer i can express.

Nowadays the docs all either ask us to induce, once they see baby engaged.
My gynae also ask me to induce, in face, she wanted to induce me today or Fri. I said no, if my baby is coming out, he will come out naturally. i dont wanna induce him out, and i hope i can do natural birth.
Easy to say, i know. But induction shld only be an alternative if its more dan 40 weeks or when no choice, like waterbag burst, no dilate ec.
Many gynaes (i asked my preg frens) either ask them to induce or do c-section.
U know why, so that these "gynaes" can plan their schedule ahead in time, and not have any surprise duties in the middle of the night n stuff.
Last time also ppl give birth naturally, where got induce.
Ytd i had an appt at 3pm, but i didnt go.
Why, cause they will tell me "oh u dilated abit only, less dan 1cm, and if u wan we can induce u"... blah blah blah.
Quite sick n tired of it. So with hubby and my mum's n my mum-in-law's support, i skipped the checkup. instead we will wait for baby to come by naturally.
i have send him warning messages - to come out naturally, in good timing.hehe no lah, not warning msgs lah, i just talk to him n ask him be good. n pls pls pls dont make me go thru so many hours of pain n suffering, then i sure sayang him more hahaha...
i have another ppt on 24th dec if by then i havent popped him out.. so i will go for 24th appt, but we'll see how it goes again.

I finally pluck the courage to wash the c-sect wound area. Phew..well I think i also gg to wear my binder for 2 months.
So sian at home doing confinement... think later think I will go out shopping hehe.

same here..my anaesthetist took so long n I could feel the baby leg kicking its way out from my cervix lidat..I was so scared I gg to deliver my breech bb vaginally leg first instead of c-sect coz it is 4x higher risk.
