Hi all..
Its been awhile since i posted.. Have been reading the thread when i have a moment here and there though..
First off, Congrats to all the new mummies!!
Ok.. my birth story..
0830H - Arrived KKH; Informed that we were 3rd in Q for the next available bed since ours is a surgical induction and i wasn't in pain. So we 'hung out' at Admissions Office (more comfortable armchairs to sleep on)
0930H - Decided to check out situation at Delivery Suite.. We were now 2nd in line. Decided to wait a while more before leaving for home and coming back the next day instead.
0948H - One room available for us! Went in, seen by 2 newbie docs.. Took the trainee TWO tries to poke IV needle in left hand before she wisely gave up and the more-pro newbie finally poked it in. (the 'holes' are still bruised and there was quite a stain on the bedsheet)
1215H - After sooo much waiting, doc did VE (still only 4cm dilated) and finally burst waterbag. Abit of discomfort and small gush of water felt but that was about it.
1220H - Contractions started fast and furious. I was busy napping since didn't rest well the night before (Husband was having diarrhoea, i was coughing the whole night, both woke up early) and realised that i was waking every 2mins to take deep breaths each time a contraction came. Right thigh and lower back was aching...
1314H - Hooked up to epidural. Took senior assoc doc 3 tries eventhough i was perfectly still. Think he probably doesn't do it very often.
Sweet relief for me to nap for a while.
1430H - The pain started again in right buttocks and thigh. Apparently the needle wasn't poked in properly or something. Given the option to re-do but no point cos almost fully dilated.
1550H - 10cm! But baby still high up the birth canal. And surprise surprise, contractions dying down.
1640H - Started pushing. Oxytoxin administered to give me more contraction pains so that i can use them to push baby down.
Realised that baby head facing up - oh no!
Midwife adjustged baby with her fingers (thru cervix) and some tummy pushing.
Then baby facing sideways! Even worse!! She tried to adjuct again while i pushed.
Finally, baby head facing down.
Sometime during this manouevring, gynae came in. Baby already crowning.
1738H - Baby is born
Gynae did not give me an episiotomy (only God knows why since she already told me that baby was too big) and i suffered a tear.. Dissolvable stitches given. Felt it all but by then too exhausted / happy to care liao.
Our little darling boy Md Aqeel.
