water
does anyone's bb doesn't like to drink water?
how much to feed?
how to encourage feeding water if bb doesn't like drinking?
think my #2 not as 'guai' as #1.. he also seems agressive.. *aiyoyo!*
everytime nursing him and he sensed that i was doing something like drinking water, eating or something, he'll pull my nipple and look toward me! ouch!

Sam, thanks, will join the spree in getting one...

kath... thanks! i'll bring a small container tml for the CB cream...

tara...i totally agree with u that phyl shld try for 2nd one....

phyl... i'll encourage u by buying hello kitty stuff for u in tokyo...hahaha...

Santorini,

Who know? Phyl may be siao siao to dress up her handsome hayden in hello kitty.

Phyl,

Yes, our bb will certainly be affected. In fact, this should be implemented latest by 2010 or 2011. Cant remember. Some schools going to do it by stages. 1st do away with SA1, then slowly do away with SA2. Actually still got assessment, just that not the usual standard type. Maybe will have topical tests, home projects, show n tell session etc. So ladies, lot of things to do in fact.

echt,

wat question u post regarding solid food?

jowin,

I am Kiasu parent. Will sign up my daughter for all possible trial so as to try out which programme she enjoy most. Need to engage her in some kind of "learning" instead of just sleep n poo every day. Haha...

So no one want to take the slot? I will ask Nov mum then.

haha.. Merydith
Its good for them to know more dialects n languages.. No harm.. nowadays, the generations are losing all the dialects already..

Sian. i m still on MC.. yet still working from home.. hate it

tara... i oso forgot my EBM for my ger todae, & her milk powder in sch oso not enough... no one in sch takes friso1... luckily my mom's not working todae, so got her to pop by my hse & bring to her IFC...so sotong....nearly got to ask the teachers to go buy frm NTUC...

dee,
me me me! my baby dun like water. everytime 1 sip then dun wan liao. probably thought is milk milk. after taste then realize kena cheat. my mom try to giv him water b4 milk so at least he drink little bit.

jowinbaby,
u feel better? take care oh.

wow, no exams? yipee.. haha.. coz i myself HATE exams.. always gotta burn midnite oil

ypg,
1) feed cereals first followed by milk? or e other way round? span over some time or feed immediately after one another in the same feeding session?
2) to start off with only 1 teaspoon? sounds v little to me.. or just feed as per how much bb can eat?
3) how long on cereals then to start on veg/fruits puree?

thanks! me too same thinking as u.. wanna let my boy try diff thgs to see wat he likes, better than just sit/lie ard do nthg whole day..eg, my mil puts him in rocker for 2hrs straight while she does hsework!! poor boy.. but hor, also wonder how come he so guai to quietly play by himself for 2hrs.. at home 5mins already eh eh eh..

oooh...bur, luckily your mum can bring it to her...or else have to buy...you leave the whole can of FM in school ?

I dont, i only portion out everyday, what she needs...so that i can be sure they feed her my bm before giving fm....

you stopping bfing slowly soon?

dee,

My clarissa putting her hands up for hating water. Everytime we feed her by spoon (she simply refuse to suck her bottle when she realise it is water), it is like battle n she will struggle as if we are feeding her poison. U know those drama serials whereby some female lead are forced to take poison.

echt,

actually it is just topical test instead of exam, so if u r kancheong parents who insist on their children doing well in all tests, u may feel more stressed as instead of 2 SA, it become many tests.

feeding solids:
1)feed milk first but not usual amount, just give her try try out. Cause at 1st try, most bb dun really can eat much cereals so they still need milk. If she still feel hungry after the cereals, go ahead n give some milk.

2)BB really eat like peanut. Besides some are not yet ready for cereals so u make 1 teaspoon, they might not even want to eat at all. Maybe u can mix the cereals with her usual milk. So she will be more receptive to the taste.

3)We start apple puree once she fully accept cereals, like can substitute one milk feed. Now my bb dun eat much cereals, mostly porridge (strained) n puree n lots of jar food.

bb very clever, they see ppl then will decide to behave or not. Haha...

ypg,
wah, like that making the children more stress?
i heard of home-schooling, is that a better option? but i guess someone will need to be home to coach the kids, right?
any idea what's gov.'s view on home-schooling?
does it yield better children?

bb likes to eat peanut? is it safe coz thot it's highly allergic?

Singapore Expo Motherhood Fair (4 - 7 June, 12 - 8pm)

anyone know which vendor will be there?
i'm thinking of getting something (teat/bottle/straw brush) from pigeon and "finger-food" stars from nestle for bb to learn pincer grip, possibly wipes too..

dee,

hehe... wat i mean is that they got small appetite. wrong choice of words i make.

yes, feel like maybe it will make some children n their parents more stressed.

my colleague is on half load, to coach her 3 children at home. another colleague of mine is thinking of home coaching her 2 kids also. So I think if u really want to home coach ur child, u need to have educational concept n means to teach them. So if u dun have educational certs, u need to read up alot.

i think home coaching got pros n cons. It really depends on wat u want ur children to learn in school n wat kind of teaching method most suitable for ur kids.

ypg..
so many tests?? wah test also feels like exam also leh..still got to study for it.

No wonder nowadays parents so stress about their children studies...stress abt the school to get in..the homework..exams..Haiz..maybe I go n groom Randall to become a star..sing n act..try to get into TCS or some media to earn big bucks haha.

ypg,
haha.. i think i read too fast! :p
my eyes played tricks on me.. after re-reading ur post, now i understood... lolx.. blur of me!
home-schooling is not easy too, huh?

wah...our bb is onie turning 6mths all talking abt exams n tests.. scary!!

I dont recall my parents ever force me to do all these stuff but then again, tat was last time..sigh

oopss..i tink our clothes are here but i m not home to receive them today. Most prob hv to go collect from post office :p

Bur, i pass u the cream tmr morning?? wat time u will be in office?

tara... yeah loh... heng my mom can bring to them...i didn't leave the whole can there, scoop out in a small container for them...

kath... i normally reach my office btwn 8.30 - 8.45..jus sms me, i'll pop over to OCBC or we can meet for lunch tml?

Merydith,

Actually grooming kids to be a star is another form of stress also. Ur kid will have to join competition n all those preparation u got to do. Stress stress stress.

I think as long as we got our priority right, we still can give our child a less stressful environment. Take for instance, we dun ask them to do well, we ask them to do their best.

Kath,

Yalor, last time my mum heck care about my studies. As long as no teacher call her up to complain, she is ok with it. I sometimes wonder whether she got see my report book seriously or not.

But my mum will always ask us to read, be it newspapers, story books or magazines. She will ask us to read. N I think cause of that, me n my brother love reading. Now my mum continue with this education method. She flip newspaper in front of my bb n told her reading is good.

ypg,
my hubby say i stress my baby to enrol cls for her when she's so young, he says now is the time that she learn to do all the basic stuff like sitting, crawling etc... i told hime we have to start reading to her so that she'ld like reading in future... then he say later she becomes a bookworm... hahaha...

wah dee.. u post it. and i saw baby ian hor so poor thing. i close liao. i dare not see.. aiyo.. i see liao i wil anyhow think.. so i better nor.. so what is it about? not all injection is safe?

i scare to see sia. if see le. i will anyhow think here and there. so its better not to see.. u all tell me can le. ^____^

dee,

Miss out answering about home schooling. Definitely not an easy task. Imagine we got to crack our heads to think of activities that will engage them in learning. Also imagine the time we need to spend on learning materials. N if ur child is the only child, he might miss out the social development skills that he can get in school.

bur,

Tell ur hubby that now we enrol bb into classes to let them have fun. I dun see any stress in Kindermusik or Gymboree so far.

Besides I will love my bb to become a bookworm cause I am a self-declared bookworm too.

Fabbie,

I think taking injection or not also got its risk. We got to weigh the pro against the cons. N eventually it is ur choice. So u got to bear the consequence of ur action. But at least we now know of the pros n cons of vaccination. It is not 100% without cons.

i didnt let my gal to take phenucco yet wor. im waiting for 1 yr than take. but 5 in 1 still taking lor. its not a must meh? anyway i think im going to take chicken pox one. but duno which age then must jab. anyone knows?

Rachel - Hope Jordan will hv a speedy recovery. U take care too.

Dee - My heart goes out to bb Ian's parents. Never knew that vaccinations hv such risks. Now i'm wondering if it's save to let my gal take MMR when she's 15 mths old. Dunno can defer or not cos it's part of the 6-in-1 jab. Haiz..

Kath - Will u be free this week to meet up for lunch? My desitin cream is still with u. :p

YPG - Whoa, so next time our kids P1 & P2 no exams? Won't it be very stressful when our kids goes to P3?

aiyo, baby Ian pics broke my heart!! so saddening.. I'm suddenly so thankful for my notti but healthy baby. Din noe vaccination carries such risk. how come we were never told? Hep B is given at birth, we din haf a choice rite? sigh..

zachmommy/jes/echt
thanks for your tips on eczema. I will be getting the california baby calendula from the BP. Will also try to cut out dairy and nuts from my diet, to see if it helps.

fabbie
Actually emma's eczema isn't very bad, thank God. Just a few small patches. But I want to be extra careful cos my mum also has eczema (although I don't have), so I'm worried that it will pass down to emma.

oh dear. the baby bloated until like this.. oh mine..

sad.gif

All these vaccine are taken with compulsory...

good morning mummies!

study
my parent oso no time to ask us to study. but they did concern abt our study. their request is study as much as we can. probably cos they themself dun hav chance to study at their generation. n they will go to sch to understand from teacher how we r doing everytime meet the parent session. during my childhood time, it's not easy for them to feed 6 mounths (i got 6 siblings). but i remember we dun need them to worry re our study cos we will auto 1. after sch do homework, housework, study novel, play, ... the only thing is they need to call house per house (some of my aunt stay nearby) during meal time to find us n ask us go home for meal. heeheehee... we always play wif cousing untill forget abt meal time.

baby ian
so pitiful baby. i wanna cry when saw his photo, especially the 9 days old one.

bb Ian
was able to read the whole story coz office internet downloaded the pix too slow.. i still couldn't get bb Ian's images off my mind.. very sad.. makes me sayang my kids even more..

vaccine
found from the thread, seems like only 2 vaccines are compulsary by law in SG.. DPT and Meales.. The rest are just routine..
still up to parents to decide whether to give to their children..
I suppose whenever bb has the jabs, we shouldn't just look out for fever.. other symptoms matters too..

phyl,
Hope hayden gets well soon! Actually I really qn the use of neubiliser leh (is it really so good)? Cos I see the kids scream each time they are neubilised! So heart pain one lor...

zachmommy,
Agree it is interesting! When is the Singapore Govt going to come up with a new chart too? My hb keeps telling me that the weight height chart used in Singapore is based on old average data (plus formula fed bbs) and I should just bo chap/ignore the fact that it is the reason why the PD thinks my ger is underweight/not growing fast enough... *haha*

Then again Gina Ford says that healthy weight gain shld be b/w 180gr to 250grms per wk for BF bbs. My ger's wg is 125grms only!

Kath - I'm fine with both days.

Jowin/Bur - Thurs or Fri? Which day u free to meet for lunch?

I notice my gal since yesterday started to show me the "munching" expression, opening and closing her mouth but making no sound. Any babies also doing that?

zachmommy
Thanks for the link. Actually, I'm like snowger's hb, bochap about Emma's weight. As long as she's meeting her developmental milestones, that's good enough for me. But PD recommended we start solids early, and my hb wanted to follow PD's advice, which is why we started Emma on cereal at 5 months, even though I really didn't want to. Oh well.. Now, all we need is for government to implement these charts in the health booklet.

thanks ypg.
me hope my boy can enjoy his childhood ah..keke.. thk i will be e kind to encourage him do more sports etc, studies wise dun fail can liao.. haha.

kath,
when e new chart is out, then my boy is considered overwt liao! keke

Hi FOng2
I can't have lunch on thurs or friday cos i m still MC till today.. tomorrow go back sure busy also cos my event start on Friday. Tats means, friday aso cannot have lunch

Sorry.. Thanks for the invite..

morning...

i dare not look at the pics of bb Ian, very heartpain to see it, poor lil thing...
now i wonder should i delay the schedule for pneumococal coz my PD set it as almost monthly ler which at 4, 5 & 6mths... think i may ask them to postpone the pneumo jab when i bring Daniell for 6 in 1 jab early next mth...

snowger,
my elder boy was 1st on nebulizer when he was on his 1st B'day, then later on & off he still use it when he has asthma attack & his normal inhaler cannot help to relief the cough... at 1st when he was put on it, he also scream & crying like hell, but later his is ok with it already... for his case i would say that nebuliser does help lor...

zachmommy,
thanks for the link..

me also bo-chap about bb's weight cos it only gives me more stress.. s long s bb meeting major milestones, important liao..
his weight stagnant for almost 2 months but his height increased during those 2 months.. when i checked again recently, his weight started to increase liao.. yay!

i have a question regarding feeding semi-solids for mommies who are still bfing by latching...

how do you mix your breastmilk into the cereal and how do you feed the remainder of the breastmilk to baby? do you just latch after baby feeds on cereal?
or do you pump out so that you can mix the milk into the cereal and thereafter feed baby the remainder?

from the way i look at it, it becomes more and more difficult to latch totally, and pumping becomes inevitable when baby starts semi-solids....especially when my ss is just enough for her feeds..and i dun freeze any milk cos emma hates frozen milk....

cos i am still wondering when i wanna stop bfing...and if i have to pump at home also, i think i will wanna stop already, cos i really really hate pumping....
