with the new rule in place, i bet almost no s'poreans employers will take fili maids liao, somemore got to give them off every sun?? they are very silly lor, like tat it makes these maids hard to get jobs, and it's not as if the country themselves got plenty of jobs for them. dun know wat mentality is this.

Jo, yah loh, leave her at home... i can't imagine if she sits there like possessed.... see liao also spoil the mood of everyone only...

jes,
agree...at work have to lun boss...go home has to face those bo liao maids... that's why i am still without maid. Eventhough everyday like so many chores to do..... at the end of the day, i dun have to deal with a 3rd party in my own home. U see whether u can do without 1?

3Jems,

oh dear... i can imagine ur frustration coz new one u have to train again and gain your trust again. I still feel that we shd have those domestic help that comes in the morning and go back to their own home at nite... really like employer/employee... we are not responsible for what they do outside. I dun mind if they work only 5-day week (but covering weekends, off 2 weekdays etc). i feel as long as live-in...more problems... dunno whether it is juz me and my thinking...

what?? $540?? just salary only? include the maid levy liao? ridiculous!

Jo,
Dunno lah. The filip govt tinks their maids very good quality and higher class then other countries. But in actual fact, their maids attitude and work quality sucks man. So what they go uni? Big deal. If they really good then dun need to come SG work as maid liaoz. They can come over and work as professional in restaurant or hotel or IR.

Yah... if dun need maid to help, dun bring them out together anymore. They dunno how to appreciate one. After maid #2, I never bring them out with us anymore. Instead of helping me with the children, I gotta jagar my kids and her instead. Dunno how to take intiative and feed my gals or see to their needs. Instead expect me to treat her like princess. Siao!

Jes,
My current maid is scared of me. But behind my back, dare to scold my dad. Even dare to bang my drawers and cupboards to vent her anger. She tot I'm at work dunno wat she's doing! I'm sssoo pissed now. But just control only. Wait till I find replacement, I'll throw her ass back to Indon!

Kash,
If I can find those 5-day type of maid, I will try it out lor. Rather hv those then the live-in maids. The other day I found out my maid got boyfriend... she got to know him on her off day when using her friend's handphone and go to facebook! I told her off that she better dun do anything stupid and get preggie. She can tell me :"won't lah. So far nothing happen what." I told her off. Said if I find out she preggie, I will report her to MOM and send her back and bar her from returning to SG.

Eehh... the $540 is not including the toopid levy hor. If incld then will be about $710. Crazy right??!! Which singaporean will be sssooo toopid to pay so much for a maid? If can do a good and proper job, dun chu patterns, behave herself, maybe still can consider. Unfortunately, I've yet to come across a really good and reliable maid. Long gone the days of the old trustworthy ones.

Jes,
They are in the wrong but we cant tell them off .. afraid they will ill-treat our kids when we are not ard ... haiks.

kash,
Everytime bring her out.. in the car .. she will sleep .. like pig like tt. But MIL wanted her to wake up at 5.30am and she usually sleeps only ard 10+pm.

kash, lets go and start a PT-maid employment agency!
I think will have big market!
My chinese friend was asking me why dun i go get those 8am to 5pm maids? I told her, no such service in SG!
Right now, i m getting a PT cleaner to clean up my hse every fortnightly. She's not experienced, therefore I have to tell her wat to do/not to do. A bit blurr smtimes. But better than nothing lor. haha

Kash, Lilian,
If you gals really start PT-maid employment hor... and got such 8am-5pm maid service, I'll be your first customer!

Lilian,
After maid #5, I used to have PT cleaner. It was working out well. But my dad insists on doing the cooking cos he did not want us to ta-bao or tingkat dinner. In end, see him cook till sssoo chamz, so got a maid to help him. This maid now can cook quite well. But probem is... she now tinks damn highly of herself. Instead of being grateful to my dad for teaching her how to cook, she dare to loose temper at him, answer him back, etc. There are days I'm sssoo tempted to scold her off left, right. But scared she will "add" ingredient to our food or do black magic. Haiz....

Nut: Just my 2 cents on my cold turkey method: Since me and hb working also, we started the weaning on a Friday night. We also stopped ourselves from bringing the tutu when we go out, so we can't use it. (we also inform my mum in advance to 'prepare' her for some crying in the daytime but in the end she didnt have to endure much). We also repeatedly keep telling G daily that his tutu would be thrown away soon. The 1st 2 nights without it were very terrible (yes the tortured cries, for 1-2 hours, with plenty of carrying and patting to sleep) but by 3rd night he was very much better liao. And we also cut the tutu in front of him to try to 'convince' him. So yup, it won't be easy but personally feel would be good not to wait too long coz of the attachment issue. If you can take leave for that few days, maybe can tell your MIL that she don't have to endure N's crying as you would be around to handle it. Gd luck!!

Actually yah, there is a gap for PT maid services! It does sound ideal service hehe..wonder why nobody hits on it!

ah lian: i saw already. so cute! smiling baby. congrats ah kiki. by cny, can c her wearing rachel's cheongsam.

actually modern day ppl v agst this tutu. but i bet most of us took it when we were young. i know i did till i was 2. but my mum hated it. kept throwing away & my gm kept buying new ones.

3jems: think husbands must step in to control the maids cos somehow they r more scared of the men. this one chilli padi taught me. probably they think that the men controls the purse strings
happy.gif

ah jo: glad to hear u r fine now.

ah jes: go go go! yes, i think it is abt time for me to start looking around now. b4 i turn into the aunty lucy on tv. 6 mths shd b enough for me to find something decent.

lilian,

was told there the charges are:

1) $148 reg fees
2) 4 hrs for $55 (for weekends. weekdays = $50)
3) extra is $13 per hour

No evening cleaning. All cleaning ends by 6pm.

ya the part time helper charges from the agency very ex leh.. one coy was quoting me - charges are from $55
(3hour), agency fee $248.

Wah Wah, so expensive neh ! Those agency really suckers....

Kash, they only do cleaning job right, no cooking? Or even help take care of elderlys?

Hello mommies,

Just back from my sales call. Haiyohz... it's sssooo hot outside. Wanna faintz liaoz.

Kash,
Oh dear... Auntie Susan is fully booked? Aiyohz... I dun hv other recommendation loh. Maybe you can take a look at SMH Temp holding place. There is a thread there on PT maid reco.

Olwen,
*aarrgghh* This maid not scared of my hub lah. She only scared when he 'roars' which is seldom. hahahah.... Tink I roar more at home... then always breathe 'fire' like dragon. *lolz*

Liv,
Wah piangz. The PT agency ask for so much agency fees? Totally not worth it. I rather look around for those cleaning aunties myself. Save on the agent fees.

Normally good PT cleaner are already fully booked de. One week 7 days, they at most work for 7 families. Not possible to squeeze in more lor, unless they super duper hardworking & strong
I myself couldn't get a good one

Hi Mummies,

Thank you for your encouragement..

Congrats, Kiki!

Congrats, Fifi!

Lyn,
I'm sure B will get there soon. The book I mentioned earlier, "it takes two to talk" is recommended by a mummy whose kiddo had speech delay. I borrowed the book from the library recently as I wanted to learn some tips to expand N's speech ability. I think my N very lazy to talk. So wanna encourage her to be a bit more vocal. It's an easy read, with helpful illustrations..

Dont hv to wait. I'm sure B can join in the gatherings anytime. It will be good exposure for him to be with other kids.

Olwen,
My ex-boss avoid talking to his maid. All instructions comes from his wife/daughter. His wife handles all the maid issues. At one time, there were often news about maids accusing the "sir"of molest n stuff like that. So my boss actually "siam" his maid as much as possible when he comes home from office. He live in a big bungalow, so that's quite possible, I think.

Lian,
Which PG Is K attending? Good? Hv u decided on her CC?

Re. drinking milk from bottle? I think no suitable age lah. As long as bb has acquired the skills to drink well from cup and is happy to do so, can stop liao, right? Save some $$ buying/changing bottles n teats. Aly stopped drinking from bottle after she turned 3. With nat, everything seem more difficult/ take longer time.

Re. Tutu
If u can turn back the clock, would u hv given tutu to bb?

Lynn,
great to learn tt B made an effort to make eye contact.. and yes y wait? u can bring him anytime to any gatherings.. Let him expose to more people, unless he's scared of big crowd ?

Alynat
Errrr yes! I'll stil giv cos as I said my gal is borne a cranky gal and I mus admit tutu helps us quite a lot

Aly_nat
K is attending weekly pg n its ok. Lately they r full hse so a bit luan. Its call the learning curve. Yes i hav registered her in CC starting Dec. Which means 2 mths time
Yes same as nut, i will probably stil giv tutu. I m v lucky tat K is nt overly attached to it. I tink care giver plays an impt role, cannot use tutu as a 'stopper' to shut t whinings.

Lynn
Yes why wait? Join us for t next gathering.. but dunno when will tat b. Kaka
I feel instead of keeping B at home, u shd try to bring him out. It will help lots.
Is he in CC or taken care by maid?

3jems/aly_nat: ah? tt's interesting. but it's true tt men shd b careful not to have too close contact w the maid. wan to shout also must have witness standing by.
biggrin.gif

i'm just counting down to 2013 when i can send them to childcare & just have 1 maid to clean & cook. hate having maids. the only one i really like is my mum's gal & she's been with us for donkey years - coming to 12 already. i call her my adit. my 2nd maid was good too but i didn't retain her cos my mum said no need. stupid me. must never believe what my mum says in future.

congrats fifi!

lynn: B still not taken MMR yet? funny. so many mummies have not finished the jabs. my husband just brot R this morning for her last 5 in 1. she's 91 cm & 12.8 kg. hmmmm, lost 200 g. but she still looks fat to me.

lian/jes: thanks for the PG contacts. will call them all today.

Good morning mommies,

Congratulations Fifi and Kiki

Lynn,
Great to hear the B got improvement. Heh... no need to wait. Can bring B to join the the gatherings. Maybe exposing to children of his age group will help him. Cos after he see that the others can talk, run, play, etc, he will start to imitate and 'learn' from them? Unless he is super scared of strangers.

Aly_nat, Olwen,
Yah.. my hub also scared to go near the maid in case she start to accuse him. These maids got too much nonsense. Can never trust them cos they will do all sorts of things to get their way.

Lilian,
I'm also going to enrol J3 into CC starting from Dec. Hopefully this time round she can adapt better. So far brought her to the 'new' school 2x and she dares to walk in and starting exploring. hhhmmm...

lilian,

for a start, i prefer weekends. Which is why it is so difficult. If the PT maid is good, I may want to do twice a week..provided she is willing to start at 6.30pm on a weekday.. U have 1 now? any good? can recommend?

3Jems,

Thanks for the url
happy.gif
I just called 1 lady recommended by another fren. She is fully booked but said will try to help me ask her frens. waiting for her to return call. If she can't, I will call some contacts from the thread. If posted here, i think sure fully booked...more pple may call.. hiaz...

olwen,

why do u need to wait till 2013 then can send to CC? now also can send correct?

aly_nat,

I have no regrets giving pacifier to my both kids. Perhaps because I had very easy and no fuss process to wean them off.

Lynn,

dun make any negative conclusion until u have a clinical diagnosis from the experts. Think positive ok
happy.gif

lilian,

i have been eating a lot of mooncakes...my BF today also mooncakes! hahahaha.... coz lots of free mooncakes given from suppliers!

how abt u?

kash, i see. T PT cleaner i m using now can only speak Hokkien, Malay, and a little mandarin. I dare not recommended to others cos firstly of t language barrier, secondly she's inexperienced. U need some patience with her. If u want her contact, u can msn/pm me
happy.gif

Mooncakes.. I only ate a few pcs. Craving for salted egg yolk traditional one today!

Olwen, did u received 3 times t baby bonus for ur triple contribution to SG?

Lynn, tell u a gossip. I even heard of someone who wants to move hse juz bcos one of her friend is getting a condo unit near her. She has a autistic child and she doesn't want her friends to know.
Thats v sad lor. She doesn't want ppl to look down on her and her child. But thats not veri position lor. She could hav spend t time looking for a new unit on doing more meaningful things for her child isn't it?
Dun b mistaken, I m not saying u r like her. But i hope u dun feel 'ashamed' bcos B is slightly slower in his speech development compared to his peers. I believe he's perfectly alright.

lilian,

we juz received a box of 4 from a supplier.... the mooncakes are from fullerton hotel with double yolk. I have yet to open. But i dun like egg yolk...normally will dig it out! :p

aiyoh, ur fren so strange...really moved away? think she must be very stressed.

Lynn,

i attended a workshop quite some time ago on creative discipline or something... there was this couple who attended shared their gal is autistic. They actually relocated from China back to Singapore due to this as help here is better. 1 of the things they mentioned which I remembered was diet. Apparently, changing the diet will help improve any condition.i think no white bread, no white rice totally.... replaced with wholemeal and brown rice... others I can't remember....

Congrats to Fifi and Kiki.

P/t cleaner,
I have only used 1 p/t to do ironing and cleaning windows. So far so good.

Olwen,
Why need to wait until 2013 to send them to cc?

Kash,
I think dr recommend removal of gluten laden food cos autistic patients tend to have gastrointestinal problems and/or food sensitivities. Having said that, too much white bread / white rice is also no good for the average person.

Lynn,
Don't lose heart. Since doc's current diagnosis is that B is delayed in certain milestones, then work on those areas. I agree it's good to be equipped with the necessary knowledge, but dun read too much into it that it takes away your positiveness. I pray that B's condition will improve in no time.

Lynn
i agree with Lilian totally.. dun avoid bringing B out for gatherings jus becos u'll feel stressed or paiseh that e rest are starting to speak some words.. I know there'll tend to b comparisons made but the main thing is to let him hav fun and "interact" with the rest.. unless he's afraid of crowds, i'm sure he'll enjoy it to some certain extent..

Wah... sssooo hot!! Just came back from lunch and I'm perspiring. *eerrkks* Lucky no sales call today.

Mooncakes,
I only ate my fav Home Favourites - Durian mooncake plus one box of the traditional type that my boss gave from Xin Cuisine.

3jems, Is Home Favorites's durian mooncake very very nice? I heard so.
I tried Peony Jade's one oso not bad. Last few years I used to buy GoodWood Park's, but i find it too sweet liao.

Hi mummies!

So difficult to log in and post coz the internet connection at my office kept dropping..

Congratulations Fifi! Rest well.
happy.gif

Lynn,
I've read your posts on B. actually i can understand how you feel coz i'm going thru the same anxiety as you are. I've recently brought my boy to the CDU in KKH and the doc have interviewed me regarding my son. and eventually, he mentioned that my boy mite be a borderline case of autism.
But when I asked the doc what is the appropriate age to diagnose a child on whether he/she is autistic, he says,' between 2 to 2.5 years of age'. then i con't to ask him,'but my son is only 1 year and 9 months, how can the diagnosis be accurate?' the doc then say,' that's why i say MIGHT BE a borderline case. anyway, you can't do anything much even if I tell you that your son is really autistic right?'
I was so pissed off tat moment but as a mother, i still went on to sign up for workshops to get some help for D. thus, i went for a workshop where they engcouraged me to put D into some early intervention centres, they called it EIPIC and i have already signed up for D and the waiting time is about 3 months. at the same time,i still let D go for playgroup sessions on weekends. I have seen some improvement in him since he attended playgroup in May this year. Now I'm hoping that he'll really catch up with his peers.
Be positive and dun let this get you down. your child will be stressed if you are stressed yourself. they can sense it. being happy and being positive will help in our child's development definitely. Jia you!

Congrats Kiki & Fifi~

It's a nice feeling to hold a newborn...heartwarming..

lian..
ok..i m back le..r u able to meet-up this evening at around 6.30pm? i can see u at mrt station control area..let me know ah..

moomummy
e idiotic doc could jus end with the sentence "that's why i say might be a borderline case". But he went on with the insensitive remark.. Wait till his own child is autistic see how he reacts lor.. Besides who say u can't do anything much???? e earlier u find out e earlier you can find out ways to help him.. like wat u're doing by enrolling him into EIPIC.. Dun go to this stupid doc again..
