olwen, same here. my gal understand our instruction and what we are talking about but she simple didnt want to talk much. haiz.. for example, recently she dun like to call dad dad or ma ma even though she know how unless we force her. but she very generous in saying "mum mum" which mean eat, jie jie when she saw one. everyday she will learn new words but still...
i rem one case of my newphew. he didnt managed to talk until quite late. and my sister is very worried, so she bring him to see the pd. the pd comment that my newphew is confuse on which language to take on, coz my dad look after him and my dad speak teochew to him, where else my mum speak chines, sometimes english to him. my two sister speak to him in chinese where else i speak to him in english.. so..
but then, i always talk to my gal in english and sometimes chinese, beside english, she can learn mandarin too. but still....but i still not so worried. im sure one day she will amaze me. heee..
