Oscar Tests
I'm coming into my 14th week. Will only see gynae end of next week, which will mark my 15th week. My gynae never mentioned about anything Oscar test lei. Quite worried and wonder if I should take the initiative to ask. And yes, I definitely need it because my age is pretty close to chilipadi's.

Thanks! Since I don't intend to do the whole confinement thingy, I'm now very close to not getting a confinement lady since you said we should be able to cope.
 


Welcome Bibi! Erm, u shd look for yourself if ur GP nv recommends. have u undergo the ultrasounds yet? better do it soon.

Today is my 13 wk. Hooray. Had my oscar test last tuesday, cost me 400+. So ex. Its supposed to be oscar + FA package. Not sure what does FA means. I just dutifully pay only lar.

also paid for the gynae package, $700. Wow, spend more than 1k in a single day.

Anyway, i kinda enjoy the oscar scan, the lady took a lot of scans and can see the bb. So cute holding the fists between the nose.

I visited the gynae after that and started on the package, had a scan and saw bb kicking legs. Wow, how much the bb grows from the last time i saw it. only 1 w plus. Gynae also let me hear the heart beat. Cool
 
Today, terrible headache, took mc, that's why have time to come in and post.

RE: CL vs Maid
I'm not employing one. My mom will do it for me. Know its going to be tough for her as by then my Brother's son will be 3-4 months old and she will have to take care of him. I intend to hire a maid to help her. Im thinking of hiring sometime near my SIL due date so my mom has time to train the maid. My SIL mom who is a cl is doing her confinement, so i think before she returns, the maid should be ready bah.
May be getting a indo one cos my hubby and mom can speak Malay.
 
Karen, if you intend to take the oscar test, you better ask your gynae fast. I think my gynae told me that normally oscar test is between 11wk to 14 wk. I dont know why is that, maybe you like to check it out soon. i scare you miss the window.
 
Chillipadi, did you do your own confinement. I'm also thinking of that too. Cos of my diet requirement, i cant take normal confinement food.
My mom will cook for me but because she by then will have a grandson to look after, she wont be able to help me much looking after my bb during my confinement, scare too tiring for her. I intend to hire a maid to help her in household chores and take care of the bb myself. Will it be tough looking after a new born?

My Hubby had already bought a child car seat, lots of bb clothings, bb hats, mittens from newborn to 6 months from his trip to US. He is one excited Daddy. He even help me buy maternity wear. Thanks to him, otherwise i have no clothes to wear liao. I think i will not wait till the last tri bah. Influenced by him liao, quite excited to start shopping as soon as the MS goes away and when i know the gender of the bb. Dont know why, i prefer my first born to have new clothes to wear.

Is there anyone here already started wearing maternity wear? or am i the only one. LOL.

Hi dmk, really. Maybe we have the same edd. Mine is around 5th nov. My gynae still have not adjust my edd. Wow, hitting 13 wk is a relief for me now. Hopefully everything goes well. Cant wait to deliver now. Hehehe...
 
DMK, you got the oscar result so soon. Mine supposed to come out the next day after the scan. But my gynae's nurse forget to call me to inform me of the result. I had to call her yesterday to get the result. *annoyed* Anyway, its a relief to hear the result is normal.

oic. i tot jus the OSCAR test @ $500+ , kinda too exp le.. my gynae charging $200 for OSCAR. Another duno wat test @ $100. total shld be abt $300.

i'm in my 10th week +. gynae 's appt next friday i shld be in my starting of 12th weeks.
 
Hi Dreamyjo, i'm starting to wear baggy clothes now. Not maternity wear but i can't wear the normal pants. Too tight liao.

Haven got the time to shop. Too tired liao. I sleep very early nowadays ard 9 plus and always wake up in the middle of the night for supper. Very tiring.

yup u can either source ur own gynae or ask the GP to recommend for u. As for gynae will have better facilities to check on ur bb status. ^_^ has ur GP gave u any folic acids or vitamins to eat??
 
Hi alibaba. Yar, he gave me folic acids. I also feels that too. I'm going to source for a gynae soon if he doesnt recommend one for me.

I hope my bb is alright. Till now i still haven get a chance to see my bb. =(
 
Bibi, yup me too. Very tired. Sleep early yet have to wake up in the middle either hungry or to pee. I already started wearing maternity pants and very loose tops for a few weeks now. find the m pants more comfy on my tummy. Its a challenge everyday to find something to wear. i had to recycle my pants. Got to buy somemore.

One of my supervisor is so strange. I already told him i'm preggie yet yesterday he still go and ask my other colleague what's with my dressing sense now. Very annoyed with him leh. Dont know what's he is up too.

Yah, u try to find one soon.. immediately u can see ur bb liao.. And by now, bb shld have heartbeat aready. Can oso roughly know the estimated delivery =) Btw, u might need to consider to do tests like OSCAR now. if not it is suppose to be done between 12-13 weeks.

i find the time passes veeeery slow lei, only 5 weeks since i know abt the pregnancy and it seems like months to me!!! cant imagine have to wait another 7mths -_- zzz...zzzzzz......

Peanut, i lagi worse.. i found abt my pregnancy at 3 wks +... seems like a life time ago... such a torture!

Hi Bibi, maybe you can source your gynae by asking friends or relatives or any of us here for recommendation. Also you have to decide where you want to deliver your baby, maybe that will narrow down your search. Have fun. Dont worry, you will see your bb soon.
 
hi bear, yeah he is more excited than me. When i see his baggage when he returns, my eyes turn into big 0. Never expect him to buy so much. He only buy very few things for himself. You can start to buy the maternity pants/short with stretchy bands around the waist. Quite comfy. No more having to unbutton to breathe. I got about 5 liao. Hehehe

Mine is strange these few days. i want nothing but instant noodles. So unhealthy. Also i crave for those flavours that i hadnt had for a long time. I'm now eating mi goreng (instant) with extra sambal asli chilli sauce.

So fortunate!! Buying maternity clothes from states is so much cheaper and nicer compared to sg. I havent start buying or wearing maternity clothes yet. My tops all quite loose de, so I can still wear them. As for bottoms, i have lost some weight prior to my pregnancy, so I can still fit into my pants now.

Bear, balloon pants. heehee.. maybe that's why one of my supervisor commented about my unusual dressing sense nowadays. I'm wearing balloon pants to work everyday. Oh man.. so unusual for my past work clothes. *sob*
 
carol, NT scan is just a normal instant scan which gives u ard 70% accuracy.. Oscar scan more accurate.. ard 85% accuracy..
 
Carol, i have a corgi. my MIL already start to hint for us to get rid of my dog. heng my hb on my side. told her that just becos he is a dog doesn't mean we shd abandon him.. that shut her up lor.

I am gg back to my mum's place to stay next wk for 3 wks while my hb away for reservist. sigh.. have to send my dog to a sitter. cost me $420!

Jo, i have no butt one.. even normal pants already seems very empty at the butt area. wear maternity pants sure more jialat..
 
happy, NT scan the doctor will measure the thickness of the neck of the BB during the scan around the 12th wk onwards ..

Bear, i'm having a prob leh.. my dog ah, have a barking system in him.. will auto bark n whine at 5am in the morning.. haiz~ we are rather worried when the BB arrive how? he's ard 8mths old, not sure if he will be better when he become adult.. any resolution??
 
hi dreamjoy,

it's really not tough looking after a new born. All they do is drink milk, sleep and poo/pee. If you are hiring a maid, than it's easier cos' the maid can always help to keep an eye if you need to have your meals, poo/pee or bathe.

Peanut and dreamjoy, I oso sometimes go loo and snooze too when I cannot tahan... ;P

thats the only place i can close my eyes without people noticing, and i go to the exective toilet which is less commonly used.

No help, din manage to doze off just now and i stil feel v terrible.. cant bring myself to work..

Chilipadi, haha, that makes the three of us. With your assurance, hopefully i can handle the bb myself. pray hard that my bb is easy to handle and hb will help out.

My hb says the tops only cost him roughly about 20 bucks each. I think price is alright and design also very nice.

dreamyjo, nice hubby u have.. Bought so many stuff for bb and yet so little for himself. In fact my hubby too, whenever he travel, he will buy lots of stuff for my son.. Sometimes those clothes have to put for at least 1 yr then only can wear

Bear, i have the same craving as u, french fries.. But i try to control lar.. or else will become piggy liao. LOL

RE: Food craving
I realised that those food that we crave now are mostly unhealthy food, such as instant noodle, french fries, sweet stuff, fried stuff etc..
