Yesterday, I still dont feel the heat, cause most of the time I am at home....only feel it this morning!!

Hi Spin,
Think I will also wait till 3rd tri to buy all the baby stuffs. ^^

Dont know what to eat for lunch. Its canteen's food. Dont know what they serving today. Sometimes see le also sian!

Today I feel so sleepy, I am the only single soul in office...today all my colleague either on Leave or Urgent Leave.

Yesterday was real hot, I need the fan to blow direct on me...

Where can find good recommendation for CL har? this round I need to engage, so that i can have good rest. When I have my gal I still need to do night feed every 2 hrs. So tiring.

hopefully tml lucky can see baby's gender then can do some shopping...

i just moved to stay with my mum, now my room is in a mess.. no energy to tidy up... hopefully when i feel better i can clear some space...

actually, the past few days were very hot...
when I step out of the bathroom after shower, I am already sweating...

I will only start preparing for baby's things in last trimester. will only put up the cot when baby arrive. my sisters will help to assemble the cot when I am in hospital. That's what they did when I had megan. A bit pantang lah... cannot have an cot empty...

But during GSS, will see if any baby items are worth buying. If so may grab some then.

Hmmmm.... lunch, still thinking of the tauhu goreng again.

Haru, the tauhu goreng stall is the 3rd last stall facing harnour front center. The end nearer to MRT station... Very yummy the tauhu goreng... Very spicy... find that when I am pregnant, the level of spiciness goes up even higher...

carol
same here.. hav to eat at canteen too... so boring at times..

Mostly will be engaging a maid when nearer to due date. Dont tink will have extra $$ for a CL liao. i heard CL at least 1.8k. for taking care of bb, washing clothes & food right?

Yesterday was crazy hot man... i stay the highest floor so my ceiling very hot... buay tahan..

Re: CL
I heard now the going rate is 1.9-2.2K! ex hor. when i told my hb, he was so shocked. i m more worried that i can't get along well with her, than the cost.

Moving back to my parents' place next wk cos hb will be away for reservist for 24 days!!! sigh...

Re:CL

Actually for those who have maids, don't really need CL. For my 1st kid, I did without CL. For 1st 2 weeks my month came to my place and help and teach my maid what to do and how to cook. the next 2 weeks, my sis send her maid over to help my maid. Her maid just came and made sure that my maid knows what to do etc and my sis maid only came in the morning. Was lucky that my maid learned quickly and was able to cook confinement food and also cope with baby stuff. Cos' breast feeding so no need to wash bottles etc. For bathing, use the herbs that mum bought from Chinese medical shop. Even have the herbs so that I can wash my hair... all my sisters that gave birth also did not have CL.

I engaged my CL at 1.8K. Surprisingly her rates didn't go up. She did confinement for my friend 1&half yrs back at 1.8K too.
I got another friend recently engaged one at 2K.

Tis is my #1, so a lot of things i no experience. My mum wanted 2 help me at first, but i scared it'll b too tiring for her. N definitely will b paisey to ask her clean up my hse.

I have cravings for the Ikea's fried chicken... oh noo.... last night i had cravings for tartar sauce.. dun tell me cravings starting liao?

Lilian, my mum will not wanna help me.. so lucky u! she values her freedom a lot.. MIL on the other hand can't wait to help but her way of doing stuff very different from mine...

Bear, my case is opposite as yours.
My MIL didnt offer her help at all. She told my hubby tat we can engage a CL. Anyway, good also la, I dun tink its easy to get along with MILs.
My mum on t other hand wanted to help a lot. But i very scared of her... coz she's a mahjong addict. Dunno if she can tahan t itch not. Haha...

Was craving for baked potato with sour cream. Couldn't find sour cream @ shop & save yest, so ended up making potato salad. Nice also

MTB with maid : )

Is better to engage maid with working experience or without har? I am engaging a maid when my 2nd is born, but I scare new maid need lots of training & in the end add burden to my mum if I am not engaging a CL. I don’t want to tired myself out during C, my past experience is terrible cause I got not enough rest, never pu enough, till now I am still very weak & aching.

My colleague engages a young & no working experience maid, in the end she eats a lot but everything also don’t know how to do. The 1mth she really go crazy need to sent maid home, handle her daughter who are jealous of the didi & doing own confinement. Then now need to look for babysitter.

I will go into depression if It happen to me…

Vincy, i think really depends on luck when engaging a maid. For me, she do have some experience in handling babies, so she is still ok, the most imp is that she must be willing to learn and listen for instructions. We always give instructions and she will follow.

definitely not new / young maids they lack experience in handling baby, i think those above 35-40 yrs and have a motherly look should be considered.

I think Filipino is better too bcos they understand Eng well. indonesian sometimes cant understand.

Lilian, i think cl dont really clean up the house for u lei.. but of cos some is easy going, they can do. But as what i know, some dont do lor.

Thanks Hui and Chillipadi.

Had sandwich for lunch. Now feel so bloated and feel like throwing up again. Man, I hate this feeling!!

Hi Vincy,
Same thing happen to my sis, her new maid also no experience and eat alot. Then my sis teach her until bth and sis cried during her confinement. In the end, send the maid back. Thank God my mum is there to help out, so instead of my sis suffering, now my mum very tired lor, have to do cook for sis and take care of my 2 nieces. Which is why, I have decided to engage a maid 1-2 months in advance to my EDD so that can train her and see if usable or not. If not, still have time to change.

Carol n Vincy,
ya, is good to engage the maid few mths before your EDD. So that not to stress out urself when she is not good or so. Me too, as my maid had went bk, i will look for a new one in abt 2 months time. u engaging filipino?

Thanks Joyce!

Yes, I prefer filipino and christian, cause my family are christians, thus she will be able to go to church with us on sun.

Re: Maid
Same here.. filipino is more preferred. young & pretty is a no no to me.. last time my aunty engage one maid for my grandma, tis maid always hide around the toilet area... see mirror! heard she was sent back shortly after...cmi.

we can engnage a maid few months before EDD??( which is my initial plan) But i heard price will be cheaper if have kids. so if we engage one before EDD. do we still get the same privilege?

and also izzit a must to allow maid to have off day?? last time my hb's uncle engaged one maid to look after grandma. den this maid requested for off day ev sun. & she really dress herself up & once she even bring her bf back during one of the weekdays, she tot no one will be at home moreover grandma could not talk, Afterwhich she was caught red handed by aunty who went visit the grandma.. scary experience.

Wah talking abt maids... my MIL already request for a maid liao but me and hb have't really discussed it. I dunno abt Filipino maids cos my mum says there are too many of them hence can learn "bad" things from other maids.. (quite nonsensical) hence my old maids were either Thai or Sri Lankans. anyway i will wait till aft first trimester to decide.

There are always gd and bad maids.. my granny had one for 15 yrs.. until she left to go back and get married. so it really depends lor.

I had XO fish noodles for lunch, minus the XO.. now feeling slightly sick.

Re: Maid

Talking abt maid. we wanted to engage one with the 2nd one coming along. but after some serious thought, I think we decided not to. . Planning to put our elder gal in childcare n either my inlaws or my mum to look after the young one.

Hi Alibaba,

We can engage before we have kid, but the levy is higher. Once after EDD, can write in to reduce the maid levy. But I am not sure abt the procedure yet. Will check with the agency nearer to the date.

My sis's previous maid not bad, at least she takes good care of the kids, though abit not very hardworking lar. But priority is the kids, so as long as she is doing a good job in this area, we will close one eye.

So engaging maid really have to pray very hard to find a good one. ^^

Spin
for my case i have no choice. My mil wont help out in taking care of kids. she said she prefer to work. Til today she is still jobless. hopefully by then she is still at home to look after bb & teach the maid. As for my parent side, even more diff cos they have their biz to look after with. Whereas finding nanny is oso heng sway. so might as well get one maid to look after the bb & can help out in house chores.

Alibaba sound so scarey bring BF home.

Carol, Indonesia no sun off but filipino is compulsary right? for filipino do we need to pay them for sunday if we do not give them day off?

Bladers.. those 30 to 40s normally is not 1st time maid. Normally is they are problematic or reject maid, will the agency tell the truth?

I want a CL cause I want to sleep through the nitez as I cannot BF. Dont think I can trust a maid to takecare of my bb at night hor...

Bear got Sri Lankan maid? can they speak english?

hello mummies,

Me had thai beef noodles. Really yummy...

Re: Maids
As what Joyce said, maids are like lucky draw. If you are lucky, you can find one that is good and willing to learn. Also if you are hiring maid for the 1st time with a new born arriving, best is to hire one at least 3 mths before baby is due. This way, you can train the maid and also than show her the things that she is required to do when baby arrives. It's not a good idea to have a new maid and a new born at the same time. It will be very unfair for both parties. End up the new mums are stress and depressed and tired. The maid's expectation of the job is low and you will have two unhappy parties. My maid was with me for almost a year plus before baby arrived. By than she knew the expectations and how to help up when required.

Also like what joyce said, some CL will only do cooking for the mum and doing laundry for mummy and baby. The rest of the household chores are not part of her contract. Someone still needs to clean the house and settle the hubby's daily needs.

Was reading some other threads on CL and there are some real horror stories on CL that some mummies have experienced.

chillipadi,
i went seah imm but wasnt sure about which stall, in e end i ate mee siam, sounds like its e same stall as e one u mentioned! i asked for extra chilli end up super spicy!!! hahahah

hey ladies,
i have been out in e sun and driving all morning. coz doing outdoor stuff for work. but i actually rather be outside sweating than in the office. somehow feel more uncomfortable seating at my desk all day...

Alibaba - ic.. well, i believe there are still gd maids ard . But we are juz to sceptical .hee But if ur mil is ard with the maid. i think then is nt too bad. at least someone is "keepin any eye" on the maid.

For filipinos, it's not compulsory to give them off. If they don't have off days than you compensate them extra. Like my filipino maid, she has no off day so we pay her extra $20 every month and also no handphone. She agreed and the terms were in the contract she signed with us and agency...

It depends on on the terms you make wth your maid when you hire her. Nowadays, some agencies will allow phone interviews with the maids and the terms can be made clear to them. Upon collection of them, the agency can make arrangements for the terms to be stated in the contract when they sign.
