(2008/11) November 2008

Hi everyone,
it has been a long long while since I last log in. Altough got confinment lady, still super busy here and there.

Info on my princess Sarah for update into table:
Weight:2.995kg
Length: 49cm
Labour: Natural w/o epidural

Here comes Sarah's birth story:
11am: Waterbag suddenly burst while reading on bed. Totally shocked and screamed for hubby. me and hubby quickly took my shower and wash hair.
12mn: Admitted to Raffles Hosp. Only 1.5cm dilated.
12mn-4am: contraction pain. Only 3cm dilated at 4am.
5am: Had 2 pieces of toast and juice, followed by endema (clear bowel). Put on drip to speed up delivery. Request for pain reliever - oxygen mask.
6am: Given jab on the tigh. Nurse keep asking if I wanna epi.
11am: 9cm dilated. Too high. Keep snatching gas mask from nurse and hubby while waiting for gynae.
1130am: try pushing technique.
1201pm: Baby Sarah delivered after 4 successful push.

Hi Mummies
Sigh.. I also feel that the last 2 days have been esp difficult. Dun know why Baby Gavin always suckle for 5-10 mins, then fall asleep!! Then will wake up every hour to feed.. Faint. Then make me think dun know if I shld pump out my milk...

Finally I gave him EBM. Actually for this preg, my greatest wish is to have him total latch on, so that I can produce more milk.. sigh, but this baby dun want to cooperate with the mummy leh, so even if i wanna be hardworking also no use.

Holicks
Wow.. really works ah? Frankly i hate the smell of holicks, but if it really proves to increase bm ss, then I hold my nose also will swallow it down. :p

Babyzel
Maybe ur fren is those kind who has alot of milk, so Holicks just bring about even more milk thats all. For those who are struggling, hope it really helps man.

Dymples
Thanks for hte tel no. of ur ML. Will call her soon.

mummies doing/done confinement by CL, what are the delicious dishes that you eat eh?? my mum is doing confinement for me now and she is running out of idea wat to cook besides the usual yao1 rou4 + ginger, vinegar pig trotter, threadfin, cod fish..

mummies... abt BF, will our breast become one bigger than the other if bb prefered one over another? worried leh.. haha

today ss seems to drop... pumped only 120ml both side together... will try to pump more...

Nite feeding: now bb 4 weeks le.. how to stop the night feeding ah?? keep waking up very shiong leh.. ;p

Hi mummies,

Dymples,
Glad that ur bb's jaundice level is down..Wat a relief right? Me too, but still got to sun bath bb on n off.

Babyzel,
Horlicks works? then i must try it out..

Liv,
Think still need a few mths so that bb could drink more n sleep longer. I remember my #1 still feed every 2 hourly till he is 3, 4 mths old. So it also depends on the bb. Motherhood is like that, sacrifice a lot..

Dymples,
I had it ever since my #1 liao...Can change de meh?? I'm trying to feed him on that side more, but dunno why he tends to don like to latch on to that side...

Spin,
Maybe the milk haven settle down yet. You can try waiting a while then burp ur baby...

cc,
you're breastfeeding or FM???

sunshinekid,
i experienced that too. But I read somewhr that you can try doing breast compression while baby is feeding. Cos sometimes is becos the milk is coming out too slowly den baby fall asleep. Meaning u hold ur breast with the thumb on top den when baby stop suckling den you squeeze lor.. I tried today, its quite effective..

SABRE: breasmilk in day (expressed out) and formula milk at night, I wake up to check if baby awake whe she makes a bit of noise, so hardly managed to sleep, is that the way to go? Or wait till baby cry then feed milk? Pls advise.

hi mummies,
only managed to pump 60ml earlier..sigh..but still gona keep it goin..tell myself cannot give up! hubby and i pray that baby will be able to sleep soundly tonite like last nite..=>

can't wait to complete my last massage session tom. then i dun have to wear e binder from thurs morn onwards. Freedom!!!

gin78,
sounds like a pretty easy delivery for you.=D

Haru,

the delivery (stage 2) was bearable, as it took less than 10mins - just force it out. But the contraction pain almost drove me nuts towards the end. And worst till, I had quite a bad tear, so stitching took a while and was so painful.

Hi all,
I was admitted in KKH as I am still on "Urine bag" since my delivery. Am very depressed. No Breastfeeding, can't enjoy my time with my baby with the urine bag. Totally no mood with that thing. Menses keep flowing down my thighs and with the catator "in" there, i could hardly stand and sit.

But baby is good at least this is really blessing.

Spin,
Try not to move the bb too much after feed. Once i was changing bb a while after her feed and shift her around a bit, then she puke thru her nose and mouth. After feeding, rest her for a few mins before u lift her up to burp. After burp let her stay slighty elevated to let the milk flow down before putting her back flat on bed.

Sunshine Kid/Joyce
My friend is from oct mum. Think a lot of mum from oct thread also trying but i never go read on their "results". Keke.

Lynnsan,
Dun be depressed, at least baby is healthy. Rest well as u need to be strong to care for ur bb.

Sling,
Any mummies have good sling to recommend? I 'm using sling from MIM but like not so suitable for me.

Oh all the mummies are talking abt BF... And i still waiting for my turn to pop..

Mosh,
Are you around? Or you have join the rest of the mummies....

Lilian,
I'm glad that you and your girl are fine. Seems like you have a difficult labour. And i hope your bill is not too exp...

Morning mummies!!

Cutiemum - I am celebrating the full month on 6th night, cause hubby's friends all need to work on sat, thus we decided to do it at night instead of lunch. I am still wrapping my bb, but only the lower body. If I am feeding him milk, will remove the wrap alittle so that its not so hot.

Haru - I am going to get the Avent warmer next also...keke...my sis is using it, but the older version which she bought 5 years ago. The new one is digital and warm up the milk faster, but abit more complex to use. I am concern my mum / maid will not know how to use it.

CC - I will feed expressed breastmilk in the day and fm in the night. During the day, will wake him up every 3-4hrs if he never cry for milk. Will not allow him to sleep for too long during the day, if not, wait night time dont want to sleep!!

Thanks all for your well wishes !

Anyone can help? when i go to the toilet after i wipe the toilet paper i saw 2 very fine blood. after that feel abit uncomfortable like menses cramp but not sure isit "xing li zhuo yong"

cc,
I'm latching on for day and night. If he fuss, den i'll jus pat him a while. But if I'm sleepin, sometimes i'll ignore him. Usually when they wan to drink milk they will move their mouth de.. So u'll know they wan to drink. In the day I also will make him stay awake for 15mins or so sometimes, so he'll noe its day time, but night of course no la... maybe u can check maybe baby's diaper is full or he's hot or cold???

Mummies who had c-sec,
When you're remove the bandage,is it pain??? den can u bath as per normal ?? Cause i'm suppose to remove the bandage today, but a bit scared scared...

Sabre,

U can bath as per normal if U want... but remember to apply the cream that ur Dr give U...that why i did after my #1 C-sect....

cyn,
that could be ur "show" if the cramps get more intense or closer together you might want to to hospital already..

Karen,
no, i dun intend to esp since she's a girl. and i heard that shaving it actually makes the hair that grows out coarse. my MIL did mention but i will tell her no lor..

Sabre,
i am currently giving some FM and EBM but i am intending to let my baby latch on fully for night and day again since it looks like my supply is slowly increasing. i'll see if i can let her latch on fully until she's about 4-5 weeks. how about you?

cyn, i saw a little tinge of blood before my contraction came in few hrs later.. be prepared! hv a smooth delivery!

Jynnsan> I noe how u feel, I had the cathether inserted after epi and i could still feel the discomfort, made me so uneasy that i ask the nurse to remove it of which she refused. I think that's why Gynea wanted GA for me since i could feel the discomfort from the cathether, didn't wan me to fidgit when she cut me. Did doc say when u can have it removed? I remember i had difficulty using my muscles to pass urine and poo poo for awhile after c-sect.

Mucous in Nose> Thank God i bought the Pigeon Mucous Pump, Jaydon's left nostril was stuck and he breathe with so much effort. He also needed several short breaks when drinking milk to help him take in more air. The pump was so useful and sucked out the mucous effectively. My mum say during our time, they have to suck using their mouths, yuck!

Hi Carol

I might be 'celebrating' full mth on 7th Dec.. cos CL requested to go back 1 day eariler.. hehe.. actually we are not celebrating lah, it more like celebrating my 'release' from confinement!!
I m getting real sick of the confinement food liao, everyday oso same thing, stir fried meat, chicken etc.. plus my CL cooking not so nice.. hahaha.. jus now took me abt 1/2 hr to finish my lunch!! Really cant wait for my confinement to be over so that i dun need to eat the confinement food..
As for wrapping, me too same as u, started to release his hands liao..

Karen

most likely i will be shaving his hair when he is 4mth old.. for my #1, i oso shaved him when he is 4mth old..

Hi Brocoli

for mucous in nose, u can oso try to use a tissue paper roll into a 'stick' then damp it and use to remove the mucous.. My CL do that and the mucous is out very fast..

Anybody doing demand feeding with EBM? Do ur bbs demand for a lot of milk when they are awake? I realised that when my bb is awake, he demands for 90ml every 1.5hr, very xiong leh. But this is his third week already, dunno is it growth spurt, went to weigh him already 5kg. Have to resort to letting him sleep on his tummy to let him sleep longer.

Haru
Actually I also don't intend to but I'm getting a lot of pressure. Sigh.

Cutiemum
Yah I'm trying to delay till the 4th month too. Hopefully by then my girl's own baby hair will drop out. But that's provided my HB allows.

Jynnsan, wishing you a speedy recovery!

Karen,
I also dunno whether to shave his hair coz he has so much and I think it's hot for him. Was thinking of going to those professional baby salon to do it.
Haru: Didnt know it would grow back coarser if shave??

Warmer: Anyone using the Pigeon one?? I Bought one, but in the end, my CL said that using warm water (trad method) is faster, so now I havent touched it haha..wonder how long it takes to warm up a bottle?

Brocoli: Ohh didnt know there is a mucous pump..think I shld get one too...

My baby was fussing this morng fr 5 to 9am
sad.gif
and he sounded like he had difficulty breathing. Poor boy. Do any of your babies keep snorting and grunting heavily?? Dunno why he like have trouble breathing issit or got phlem..sigh..

Cutiemum> I tried that but didn't work bc its the thick and sticky type, then remembered i bought the pump.

Carol & Cutiemum> Just saw the chart and noticed the 3 (Jadon, Jaydon, Jaden), born one day after another, keke so qiao. I noe Carol stays in the west, where do u stay Cutiemum?

Glad_girl> My bb also snort and grunt, then realised everyday got mucous, either dried or wet. Read somewhere bbs 'blow' their nose by sneezing which is not very effective. Juz need to be more sensitive to his posture when feeding milk bc they need to coordinate the swallowing and the breathing.

Karen

Think for chinese, normally it either 1st mth or 4 mth then shave.. still remember that for my #1, we even shaved away his eyebrow.. hehe.. cos my mum said need to shave..

Brocoli

ya, now u mentioned hor, it really qiao loh.. hehe.. I stayed in sembawang.. wat abt u?

Hi Mummies,

It has been a long time since I've last logged in.

I have popped!

Baby Isaac arrived on 20 Nov, 3.21kg, 50cm by c-sect cos he just refused to engage :p

Massage:
jus had my massage by mona last night.. she is very friendly and i find her massage nt bad.. recommended!!!

Pigeon Mucous Pump:
where to get it.. had been looking ard for his kind of Mucous Pump but couldnt find it... ;(

brocoli - ya...keke...I noticed that already. And cutiemum and I are with Dr A. Actually I delivered in Mt A, so cutiemum and I are warded in Mt A on the 9th to 11th. Your Jaydon and my Jadon are big bb lay, so they will need more lar...keke...My Jadon is very naughty, need to take a long time to finish his milk. Sometimes up to an hr and he only drink 80ml. THen he will start crying for milk in an hr's time le. If he drink 120ml bm successfully and sleep, it can normally last him for 2-3hrs. If he is awake, then most prob. only 2hrs. At night I will feed him FM, if not he will wake up every 2/3 hrs for milk and wake the whole family up. His crying is super loud de, even in hospital, the nursary nurse told me that this boy need to get ready milk before he is hungry, cause once he cry, he needs to be fed immediately...keke...:p

Hi Liv, you can get the Pigeon Mucous Pump from Kiddy Palace. There are 2 types of mucous pump available. I bought the one with a tube n a mini container (recommended by fren) ... I find it quite useful.

I heard that baby will have mucous in their nose if they sleep in air-conditioned room. Agree? Or any babies who sleep in non-airconditioned also have mucous in their nose?

Carol, when u feed ur bb FM at night ... how long before he wakes up again for milk?

Cutiemum- u staying i semb too ? mi too leh. keke

any mummies finishing confinment earlier ? if we end our confinment earlier, do we still need to obey the confinment rules ? it sound contracting rite ? keke
