Mamyvelle - agree with Mrs Seng, so long they are taking solids, we must find ways to make them drink fluids of sort. Else they get constipated.

What i do is i just put the bottle to him and let him drink , even if it means suck suck only

Bigtoes - You were saying by right we need to stop using the bottle (even for milk) by about 12 months? Really?? Then bb drinks BM/FM through where?

Koras - Have you tried sweet potato for your bb? Every time I let mine take sweet potato, she will poo twice a day! I think the fibre content in it is quite high. Pumpkin should be similar too.

Mamyvelle - Ikea high chair cost around $25 I think...

JP/Jeraldin - You gals started on potty training already?? Wow...the thought of clearing the potty puts me off totally! ermmm..

Milk Intake
My ger drinks about 100-120ml BM every 3-4 hours, with additional porridge feeding (3/4 bowl) during lunch and evening time.

Swine Flu
Although it's safe to consume pork, but just wondering if any mummies are taking extra precaution by not using any pork for your bb's porridge? Wondering if I should just stop pork for the time being just to be on the very very safe side...hmmm

chillicrab (chillicrab) - I read this (graduating from bottle to sippy cup/cup with straw etc) in several websites (including Baby centre i think). Its really up to u of cos and i do see many toddlers drinking from the bottle, but i was thinking of moving Kieran from bottle to cup by about one. Right now, he prefers to drink water from an adult cup in anycase, though he does spill quite a bit that way!

Potty training - hehe, i am also thinking that I rather bag the diapers than wash out the potty! Their poo now is rather smelly!

Thanks mummies for sharing your thoughts so at least I know there are mummies out there who has started. Comforted to know that I'm not being an extremist.

For Jaden, it was pretty easy to see when he want to poo. He will have this expression on his face when he's trying to poo. We started putting him on the potty and tell him that he shld poo in the potty and over time we fix a schedule on putting him on his potty. Of cos, occasionally, he still poo in his diaper. On cleaning the potty, it's not too difficult, we normally lay some toilet paper on the potty and after he poo, just tip the potty over the toilet bowl and because of the toilet paper, it doesnt stain the potty so much and much easier to wash. In my opinion, it beats cleaning up his bum cos it's much more messy cleaning his bum if he poos in his diaper. I got this potty that is like a chair with side support so it's like he is sitting on his own little chair and I think it's pretty comfortable for him. Will post a pic of the potty the next time.

Jeraldin, wah, how you let EJ poo into the toilet bowl? U mean you hold him in front of the toilet bowl till he poo? Then your arms must have ached like crazy!?? :0

Hey everyone!

Toy'rus at Novena is having SALE at basement.
And i bot a pooh bear car at SGD20, originaly priced at $60 if i am not wrong?

And i saw a fisher price walker and ride selling at SGD20 too!!

And Vtech walker is going off at SGD25!!! Cheap siak!!

Goldfish (goldfish1395) - wow, the sale sounds like a good deal. I know that the toy rental company I am using rents that Vtech walker for $20-25 per month!

JP (jnp) - Post up a picture of the potty! I haven't started looking around for potties yet, but know there are those with handles (sort of like straddling on a toy car).

So much more variety compared to the "tam tung" we used to use!

Bigtoes,
Ok, I will try to take it tonight and post tomorrow. We brought Jaden along when we bought the potty ( which is something I will recommend so to make sure your baby fits in it ) and we realised that majority of it will not fit baby so young ( esp those that you sit and spread the legs on each side ). So, we ended up buying that chair like one since he doesnt have to spread his little legs and he looks most comfortable on it.

wingkei, u can also give her a pacifier to suck on during take-off. it helps.

potty training
mine poops in the midst of drinking! she'll suddenly stop sucking then look all serious and go all red, then smile when she's done. very funny. don't think i will potty train her anytime soon although we do have a musical potty seat from the mattel sale last year.

plain water
i nearly forgot about this!!! tried feeding her when she reached 6mths but she didn't like it. then lazy mommy made several more half-hearted attempts and conveniently forgot about it. tsk tsk.

Baby carrier

Hi mummies, jus like to gather some feedbacks from you who have baby carriers on which brands is good & comfy for both mum & baby.

hi mummies.. i've been AWOL for so long.. been very busy with work .... wanted to check, any mummies whose bb has a flat head? i remember that i met a mummy at the gathering organized by sherrifer whose boy has a flat head... did anyone seek professional advice?

Chillicrab aka Jean~

Your CD is ready for collection, can you drop me an sms as to when you could drop by to collect? Will need you to come to Pasir Ris to collect. My no. 81682107

cloud- Mine but he is fully recovered after seeing a physiotherapist for 3 session. Sarah Wong at Tanglin Shopping Centre. She is great with kids.

breadmum, full recovered means that its totally round already? Did you bring your son for a CT scan? I brought my son to see the PD at KKH and she referred us to a plastic surgeon... he said that in his personal opinion, its ok but if want to be 99% sure.. should go for CT scan.. but I'm reluctant because he might need to be sedated
sad.gif
but then again.. if there is a problem and its discovered at a later time, it might be too late to do anything.. I really regret not adjusting his head position when he was a newborn.. always let him sleep on his back..

I remember you telling me that once baby reaches 6 months, its too late to go for physio... is it? My boy is already 7 months..

Kym, U did a great job with the photoshoots. My sis was really happy with the outcome. Thumbs up! Though both our baby was very cranky, u were very patient throughout. As what i said, don't let those negative comments put you down. Keep the good job up. Btw, i have not seen my son's photos. did you miss him out? =(

cloud - physio did say that by the time the kid is 6 mths, his brain would have developed so can be a lot of hard work. wow. yours sounds serious. No, i did not have to bring mine for CT scan as i sent him in early. His head is rounder than before, but now his not fav side becomes his fav side, so am trying to rotate him around.

why don't you asked to be refered to physio first and best see Sarah. She was head of kids physio before she came out on her own.

Hee hee.. This is a photo of my Baby K taken over the weekend.
Before we went for a evening swim and he was 'dumped' into my hubby's haversack

Hi,

As promised, here's the pic of Jaden's potty. It's not that clear cos I took it with my hp and there is some problem with my hp. Anyway, I bought it from KiddyPalace at abt $14 I think. I like this cos it provide good support and Jaden can put his arms around the side to support himself.....

hi ladies,
it's been a really really long time since I came into this thread.. been busy with work, 2 kids and my scrapbook hobby. Hope that all the babies and mummies here are doing well!

any mummy here start to think about the 1st birthday yet? I am thinking of doing a Hello Kitty theme.. and is looking for HK cake toppers.. anybody knows where to get?

re: toilet training
ladies, i personally feel it's too early to toilet train our babies.. 7mths is really too young. There is both good and bad. My friend, whose MIL toilet-trained her daughter very welll (when daughter was just a few months).. faced a big problem. I have also heard other reasons for not training too early.. just to share.

1. My friend's daughter will cry in the night when she wants to pee, she will not pee in her diaper. she will cry for the mummy to bring her to toilet.. at few months old, u must carry your baby over the toilet. Same for poo.. must carry the baby to poo.

2. Same issue when out in shopping mall. Must keep finding toilet for the baby and carry the baby to pee over the toilet. And some public toilets are really quite dirty to hover the baby over.

3. Some babies, because they are used to not peeing in the diaper, will hold their urine and thus leads to UTI (urinary tract infection)

4. Another point to consider is if u want to bring your baby for overseas trip. If driving trip to Malaysia, same thing, must keep finding toilet.. and stop on the highway. If faraway trips, then must find toilets when overseas, of which you may not be familiar with.

Generally, most books/resources recommend toilet-training at toddler age. The above points I shared are real stories from some mummies I know.. So just to share for your considerations.

Cheers!

Cloud,Koras, my baby's head is also flat on backside coz he doesn't want to sleep on pillow..

Cloud, can PM me sarah's ctc number ? might want to see her too.

yun,cloud- isnt not good that baby have flat head??

autum-baby K will make noise when he pee at first we thought that he is gng to poo, but not

yun,
if baby head is flat because always sleep on one side, then it's quite ok, as in, can try to put baby to sleep on the other side. my elder boy also has flat head on one side.. then we also kind of lazy to turn him (when he was a baby).. but slowly as he got bigger, he slept on the other side of his head and now it's not obvious.

koras,
hi.. your Baby K is already toilet-trained?

Koras,Autum, my hubby said Iam too paranoid everything related to my son...his backside is abit flat but with the growing hair ,now its not obvious.
anyway, his flat part's hair grow very slow.. is it a sign ???

storeberry... opppppssss.. sorry that I didn state clearly... its his head lor...hehehe

teething, my son is teething now, but only one teeth out from below. tot normally will have two teeth ?

li, i've been using the baby bjorn air and so far so good.
happy.gif
it's easy to use and not too hot (can face out too), but there's a weight limit of like 11kg i think. try browsing the want-to-sell threads for a pre-loved carrier if u don't want to pay too much for it.

hey, looks like we've got quite a number of baby Ks here!

hi anyone still want to share the Haemin play yard ? since its 8 panels and we need 6 each . 4 mummies need to share.

Do correct me if i am wrong for those who have already bought the play yard

Hi breadmum

Actually you only need to find another mummies to share with you. Each box come with 4 panels, so you and the other mummies will get 3 box in total. That will give you both 12 panels, each of you get 6.

Each box come with 1 door panel, 1 activity panel and 2 plain panels. So between the two mummies you have to decide who will get the door or activity panel.

I bought 2 boxes myself and realize that 8 panel is really very big ! so i sold my extra door and plain panel off

READING – DO u all read to ur babies frequently? I onie did it occasionally and my bb is not beri interested lo. He will be captivated for the initial few seconds, and thereafter, he will be distracted.

My friend told me it is good to start a mini-library for my bb. I thot getting library books will be good enuff (though it is not brand new and could be dirty lo) ?? Any comments?

Goldfish,

There was a period of time (For about 2 weeks) when I would read to my baby K almost everyday - "3 Little pigs"

Then subsequently got lazy and forgot all about it.. Hmmm, think its time I start reading the same old story to him again!!!

Education =D
I read to Cayden about thrice a week. But I will teach him A-Z + 1-10 using the alphabet chart at least once a day. He's very attentive when I teach him. Sometimes he protested when I stop halfway! I sing & recite nursery rhymes in English & mandarin to him daily
