jessi - thanks.. wil check out tomorrow

mickey - wao u bought 8 pack of S so fast.. Me only bought 4 pck NB and 2 pck S

now that's what I call stocking up! :D but I think with Nepia there's no fear that you'll not end up using it cos you can always change for the size that your baby needs should he/she outgrows it.
happy.gif

Cloud: I went to Zoo and bird park when I know I am preggy so should be ok. Are you talking about hygience or "pantang"?

Sunrays: Yah, little charlotte is growing well!! Sharp chin indeed!
happy.gif

Flos: For maternity, I bought 3 pants & 1 tee & I dressy top. The rest are all baby dolls tops & tops that are looser ones. And my fren passed me a few pcs as well.

Mickey: Totally forgot about my bbmall loots!! Aiyoooo!! I also got 1 NB, 2 S, 3 M! Kekeke...\

BB has been moving alot and also elbowing my rib cage, the area will harden... Ouch!

<font color="119911">isabelle (isa_belle) - if u happen to deliver naturally on 28/8/8, i think u should have a room. I wanted my C scheduled on that date (week 38), but my gyne doesn't do planned surgeries on that day - would have to charge $700+ extra for the operating theatre &amp; her services, so we just decided on 30th instead. If mommies have to pay extra, don't think there would be many scheduled deliveries on that date.

storeberry (storeberry) - yes, little Kieran's movement are alot stronger now as well.
happy.gif
Can see the ripples even thru my clothes, but thankfully its not painful (yet)!

BABY MONITOR
Mommies - what brand do u recommend? Our baby's room is 2 doors away from our bedroom &amp; we need to get a monitor so that we can hear when he cries/wakes up at nite for feeds/diaper change. Saw a couple at Mums &amp; Babes but no idea which is better. </font>

sasa: I had a quick discussion with my DH last nite. I think we'll heed Dr Cheng's advice, i.e. go for natural since I've no complications so far...

Wow! So many posts!

Rib Action: I've been getting quite a fair bit of rib brusing myself. Lately the area just under my left breast is hurting. Does anyone know of a physiotherapists who might be able to help? Think I might have costachondritis. Hope it goes awway. Hurts q badly sometimes.

Rippling: Wow! Your babies area all very strong! Mine kicks but i can't really see rippling through my clothes! My tummy always seems so hard.

Bibtoes &amp; Baby Monitor: I was just thinking about this same topic! Rber some mummies here were talking about the Philips one. Have you heard of the Petite Terrailon monitors? Are they any good? What is the price like?

Alabone: Gobi cakes? Yummy! I love their presentation.

Cloud: Like what other mummies her have said, think it is perfectly safe to go to the zoo. Just observe hygiene! And oh! Put on some DEET-free insect repellent cos you don't want to be attracting mozzies, and bring along a nice floppy hat to block out that sun!

Jessi: How much did you pay for the foam mattress for your playpen? I'm looking for one too to fit my Babycraft playpen/bassinet. Which playpen model is yours? And are you intending to let bb sleep in it for long? I am still uncertain if I should let bb sleep in my playpen/bassinet or buy a cot when he is a few months old.

Sunrays: Charlotte is soooo big! Very cute too! Saw the videos. Amazing what babies do inside us!

Mickey: 8 Packs of small? From Nepia ah? How long do you think it will be before our bbs graduate from S to M? Cos I'm thinking of whether to buy S or M diapers now since I have a few packs of NB and S already.

Chinese Characters on BC: I'm a bit confused - Alabone says can just show hard copy of characters and they can input. L'L CY says bring soft copy. So which is which ah? I cannot write chinese characters nicely....Eeks. I don't want my kid to have my horrible Chinese handwriting on the BC.

Found a useful guide for buying considerations for Baby Monitors:

http://babyproducts.about.com/od/sleepbedding/bb/baby_monitors.htm

Baby Monitor reviews (but not local)
http://www.consumersearch.com/www/family/baby-monitor-reviews/

FLOS: Good to try natural! Anyway, I think doctors who are pro-natural are better than those who like to schedule C-sections, regardless. I'm sure your body will be able to do whatever it needs to help baby enter this world! Keep at the Kegels and stretches! Btw, when can we expect your youtube debut of all those exercises you've been taught? Heheh

Sarahmay,

Easier to print out the chinese character in correct size and stick it on the form. It's handwritten for J#1 cos I'm not so bothered whether it's handwritten or typewritten.

sarahmay, i got the foam mattress with holes for $49.90, but they have the mattress without holes for $29.90. hmmm.. i'm not too sure the playpen model, i got the playpen from kiddy palace too. actually i intend to put the playpen at my mum's place cos she will be taking care of bb after my confinement but we are thinking of only bringing bb back during weekends so don't know if putting the cot there will be better or just the playpen will do.

<font color="119911">Hey SarahMay - thanks for the info on the baby monitors. Will have a read later. Meanwhile, does anyone know if Kiddy Palace stocks baby monitors &amp; when does their GSS end?

DETAILS ON HOW TO REGISTER YOUR BABY'S BIRTH AT THE HOSPITAL:
http://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=144&amp;secid=143</font>

bigtoes, kiddy palace do have a few models of baby monitors but i can't recall which are the ones that they have. their 20% off for members will end today.

"For Chinese children who have been given a name in full Hanyu Pinyin version, the Chinese characters of the name must be reflected in the birth certificate."

So if I don't give a name in full HYPY version, I don't need to reflect my bb's Chinese name on the BC?!

Stick it on the BC? Like change of addy on our NRIC? Aiyo, c'mon Singapore...surely our registration computer software are more advanced than those in China right?!

<font color="119911">Jessi (jessi) - thanks! Then I better go have a look later
happy.gif
Btw, are any mommies getting girdles (to wear post-delivery to firm up the belly - not sure how useful?) Saw a couple at Kiddy Palace - might as well get one before the sale ends....</font>

Alabone,

I have read about Gobi cakes and love their presentation, but I have read some bad comments that their pastries only look good, but taste bad? hmm?

<font color="0000ff">Hong Kong
My couz is in HK.. anything tat u all think I can get her to help mi buy from there??</font>

SarahMay
I had a pain in the ribs last time round. think it was adan's foot kicking me...

Zoo
I went on sat and sat in a wheelchair cos i couldnt move around too much....people kept staring
happy.gif
hygiene wise should be ok as long as u wash your hands after!

sasa de mouse: I feel that the HK kiddy stuffs are more or less the same as those in SG.

sarahmay: did u find the bb stuffs better and nicer in HK? Their Abebi = our Kids 21. They have all the same kidswear brands inside leading dept stores like SOGO: RL, Kenzo, Guess, Kingkow, DKNY, OshKosh, Les Enphants, Zara, etc. Maybe more int'l materinty clothes brands like Formes/Bloom/JW/MA, which u shouldn't be stocking up now.

u can try H&amp;M Kids though.

Sarah: I also having a headache whether to get playpen or a bigger cot cos the cot my BIL is passing to us is a small one, the most used it up till 5-6mths. My BIL is using a playpen is their MBR &amp; they said its good. But I am thinking whether to buy a cot that can be coverted to toddler bed as well.. Decisions... Any comment, mummies?

CL &amp; BF-ing: I am also thinking what is the arrangement like. I am intending to BF fully but bb will sleep with CL in the night cos then if bb needs milk, do I ask CL to bring over to latch on or just get the expressed BM from fridge? But in order to get supply going, I should get bb to latch on right? But 1st mth, the CL is here to take care of bb so mummy can rest. I am confused, anyone can shed light on this? Keke..

<font color="119911">Ava (avalyn) - u went to the zoo on Sat and moved around in a wheelchair? how come?

SarahMay - read the reviews on the baby monitors, nothing much online really. Will see what models Kiddy Palace is stocking up for Philips &amp; the pricing. Just need something mid-range &amp; basic, no need for the bells &amp; whistles which I won't end up using anyways. Not sure how much these are...about $160?</font>

BMO Collection

Storeberry/Mrs Gan: Didn't get any sms from you over the weekend. How/when would you like to collect your loot?
happy.gif

SarahMay: You know? I have forgotten how long it takes a baby to outgrow NB. I think this is quite fast cos NB for Nepia is only until 5kg. But for s, it takes some time cos it's until 8kg. So I think I may have overstock on NB.
This is how I'll do it. If baby is already abt to outgrow a certain size, then I will open a pack of the next size. This way, I can trade in the smaller size when I order again..

Ava: I suppose that's fine. I will do likewise if I checked in in the middle of the night. Perhaps pack a nicer outfit to wear on day of discharge.

for natural delivery, must I remove my nail polish? How abt jewellery, e.g. earrings and necklace?

Bigtoes: My bb will be sleeping in a room 2 doors away from me too. I bought the cheaper/lower Philips version at only $100 nett. There is a higher version with a supposedly "more sensitive reception" , also by Philips, selling at abt $131.xx thereabts. The latter is good if u r staying in a multi-storey house.

STOCKING UP DIAPERS: I will not purchase any more diapers until my detailed scan at Week 31. I wanna see if my bb is smallish or not. I get the feeling my bb is on the small side...

I'm getting so demoralised. It seems like my hubby is still not supportive of my applying for LOA even though I have gone ahead to apply for it. He says that I do not trust his parents for taking care of the baby, which is partly true. I want the best for my baby but they seem so slip slod, and part of the reason is they seem to only think of using old things to save money.

I didn't even buy half of what you gals bought and he still complains. He says I'm too gan chiong but I told him that is because I have been reading but he has not. He said he has no time to read, but yet he doesn't believe what I tell him! I'm like so at a loss now. Don't even have the mood to go to work.
sad.gif

RXmom,
i ordered the individual sized choc cakes that came six in a box for my colleagues and they said those were nice. then i ordered their fanciful ones which my hb said was nothing to rave about. but presentation really really nice.

<font color="119911">Flos (flos)- thanks! Will look out for the lower priced version in that case. Maybe the baby's lungs would be so well developed, we won't even need the baby monitor to hear him 2 doors down!

How heavy was ur baby at the last scan? I think mine is averaged-sized compared to the charts from Baby Centre but kinda smallish against the mommies due in this thread.

Btw, think we need to remove nail polish/jewellery/make up/contact lenses on the delivery date.</font>

Shazz - thanks! I realise I haven't sent u the $$ yet. Will go after work today as there isn't an ATM near my office (ulu place in the east..ha ha)

Re budgeting - I agree with you. Better to budget more anyway than to fall short.

Bigtoes: No need to remove the nail polish or make up. The nurse will give us a shave at the delivery suite as well. I will suggest to go for a last bath (and if possible, wash hair) before the confinement starts! Kekekek..
happy.gif

zoo.. i've decided to err on the side of caution and won't be going to the zoo.. its alright if i'm going by myself or in a small group.. but i'm supposed to bring my class of 30 pupils there.. can you imagine how chaotic it would be, might make my blood pressure go up.

stef, let us know how your scan goes..

micky ,
that is the growth scan .... close to 32 weeks , gynae will do another detailed scan on bb called the growth scan .. I will be doing that too ..

Bigtoes: Mine was 1.174kg at week 28. How about yours?

mickey: Oh, this is cos I will be doing my 4D scan which must be done before week 32, so TMC told me I might as well do the 8th mth (also week 32) detailed "growth" scan on the same visit. That way, my gynae can debrief me and interpret the results for me, all at one go!

The detailed growth scan is like the one that Sunrays just posted on her FACEBOOK album. Similar to the 5th mth one we all did. Did u have a detailed 8th mth scan last time for your first bb?

ZOO: why is everyone going to the zoo? Hv I missed out on something?

I dun think one needs to remove makeup. Some of my gfs drew their eyebrows so that they appeared prettier on video
happy.gif

Was thinking of going for a brazilian wax this week at Strip...

yesterday, I found a thread here abt moms giving away excess EBM to other non-lactating moms! Is it ok to let nb drink other mom's excess defroze BM? I wonder if they charge a fee for their EBM...keke
happy.gif

<font color="119911">Flos (flos) &amp; mickey (bbmouse) - hah, that would be best! I had to remove make up, lens &amp; nail polish when i went for my fibroid removal last time. Maybe that was under GA, so they were more fussy?

Speaking of which, did you ladies see the video clip from the TMC pre-natal class? Hehe, looked like something from 1980s! One mommy even had big circular gold-rimmed glasses &amp; a big bow on her head! Anyway, i find the pre-natal classes quite redundant to date &amp; honestly, Mrs WBB overhyped....

Flos (flos) - Our baby was 1.13kg at 27w5d, so pretty much similar to yours. None of my sisters had babies >2.6-2.8kg thou, so I don't expect Kieran to tip the scales beyond 3kg. I was also just 2.4kg at birth.</font>

Big toes: But urs will be c-section right? My manicurist told me for c-section patients, u need to remove all makeup and nail polish!!

ParentCraft lesson 3: Wait till u attend the third lesson. Many couples walked out halfway! I walked out too becos the video on labour took over 1 hour; most of us got sick watching different frumpy Brit moms giving birth thru diff methods.

Nurse C kept repeating herself and her no-longer-funny jokes. I hv stopped laughing...
sad.gif

BB WEIGHT: It seems to be that 1.174kg within the normal range. Checked Babycenter and 2.25lb is the norm for week 28. I was 7 lbs at birth
happy.gif

Big toes
I certainly hope there'll be the room! Cos my colleague had to wait for a long time!

Removing makeup etc etc
My first kid they din ask me to remove anything... Had my contacts on too. But mebbe that's because i was gonna pop already. I went straight into the room n birthed in my own clothes too cos no time...
But mebbe C section, they may need to check if you r pale, the colour of ur lips, nails etc esp if something goes wrong, that's why must remove. My colleague opted for natural and last min emergency c section, the nurse just swiped her dark red polish off any old how. Her toes and all were stained red and visitors thot they were bruised! So mebbe u ladies shld remove the polish nicely urselves first?

And mummies, u can choose not to shave u know. The thot of that sounds gross... and the regrowth and all...

Make up, etc during c-section

When I delivered in the US, I went to the hospital clear of all makeup and just wear specs. Personally, I think it's really more comfortable.
happy.gif
Actually, why would you some of you want to keep your makeup on?? Cannot really kiss, etc your baby properly also without fearing that her/ his skin might be irritated by the makeup.
happy.gif

Shaving

Can just cut it short, dun need to shave, cos some find that humiliating. The gynae will know where to trim.

Quiling, Flos: Oh I see.. Actually I see my baby in 3D/4D each time I visit my gynae. My gynae has the machine at his clinic. In the early weeks, usually he doesn't show the 3D pic as the image will not look nice, as in, we won't be able to recognise the human features. From week 20 over on, then the image will resemble more of a human face. I have many 3D print-outs of #1 and #2. Kekeke..
happy.gif

sunrays,
can u add me to your facebook? I want to view your bb's 3D scan
happy.gif
thanks

I had my detailed scan today (week 30). Junior is weighing 1.7kg! Head and body normal growth but extremely long legs (takes after his father!)My gynea is kinda suprised that i didnt gain much weight (only 100g) since my last visit which is 2 weeks ago! Guess my controlled GD diet is working..
happy.gif

Also booked my delivery suite - approx. cost $5000...i thot NUH will be cheaper! anyway told my hubby we better start saving!! haha...

Nail polish
Usually the nurse will ask you to remove all nail polish and jewellery..my gf gave birth in Mt A and was told to do so. I did an op in NUH and was told to do the same too. I asked the nurse why..they said they can monitor your state of wellness thru the color underneath your nails..

hi guys, been down with a fever, flu &amp; cough for over a week. had to resort to panadol to bring the temp down... so much for my drug-free pregnancy.
sad.gif
there's some bug going around lately?

wingkei, what's loa?

has anyone read about the many allegations of sellers passing off imitations of branded goods as the real things in the marketplace section of this forum? think the recent longchamps and agnes b orders are in a mess now with lots of names calling, delays and cancellations. hope no one here is affected.

flos, how much is the 3d/4d scan? still thinking if i want to do it. if it costs only a bit more than the detailed scan that we'll have to do anyway, guess it's quite worth the price.

Hi ladies, havent been able to log into the forum for quite some time. so many posts to look thru... anyway, same with xuanting, i've been attacked by illnesses for the past week. feels terrible with blocked nose, flu, sore throat, heatiness, abit of fever and lastly, growth of a new wisdom tooth! haven went to see a doctor yet and no medications except for a small pill for runny nose which doesnt feel that its working in any tiny way.
sad.gif

mickey: Whoa! lucky u to get to watch 4D images of your bbs at every visit!! Would u be receiving a CD with the 4D video too? Most of us need to make separate appts with our hospitals to lay our hands on those 'coveted' 4D images
happy.gif

I only saw my bb's face and his organs in 3D mode during my DS at week 20, but as my bb didn't look that handsome then, I told the sonographer there's no need to print out for me...I hope he is cuter at week 32!!!

sunrays: Your 3D images are all hardcopies right? Since u wrote on FB that your DH hasn't finished "scanning" them?

xuanting: I think it varies from hosp to hosp. TMC charges $250 for both 3D+4D images saved on a CD. Are u with TMC too? The TMC slots are being snapped up very quickly. I was just telling Jaymickey last week there was still a slot on 10 Jul but last fri, they told me it's been taken! Grrr...I've to postpone mine till mid-Jul...my last and only chance before I pass week 32.

How far along r u? It may be too late to secure a booking at TMC if u r nearing week 30.

Flos: But I paid for that at each visit leh..
happy.gif
My fees each time is always ard $200. And there is no package until week 30 or so.. Usually my gynae selects a best angle to do a printout for us. There won't be any video, just a CD. Dunno how he does it, but he can download onto a CD to pass to us.

isabelle (isa_belle) - u mean the nurse will really shave for us before giving birth.. hah think if she really shave i sure to scared later she accidently cut me lolz

RX mum: think I will cut short also.. Hope they will not shave if not re-groth will be itchy!!! especially during confinment period!

Thanks Quiling!! But then again do I need wake up in the night to express to keep the supply coming?
