cactus,
My old pri school ored no more liao, i tink.
No, i dun tink it is necessary to enter into top pri or sec schools to get a good education or to get a good degree. Doesn't mean that if one dun get into top or good schools, one cannot get a good degree such as legal or medicine.
What i see is in my uni class are top scholars from top sec schools and top JCs. RJs and VJCs. So I am v proud to say i am a fully made neighbourhood school kid. I didn't have a good pri sch or sec sch background but i still manage to score good results on my O and A level results and get a good honors degree. I have JC classmates who score straight As and have better results than those top 5 JCs students.
But I do not deny that good schools provide a better environment for learning. But not every kid can adapt to top schools or sap schools learning. If kid is able to take that kind of education, then it be good for him. If he is not able to cope, i will rather send my kid to a neighbourhood school but of course a good one (as in strict discipline). Neighbourhood schools also have different grading and standards.
My hb is a fully-made SAP school/top schools kid.
My hb frens are all doctors. I seen his frens' chatting topics etc, as compared to my frens' chatting topics. Sometimes they will compare and complain on career, work etc. I find that they dun really know what the normal folks or how fortunate they are. They compare on number of As in school and how much $ or car when working. Whereas neighbourhood sch kids are struggling to pass their subjects (let alone count As).
Maybe i seen both worlds (neighbourhood schs and good uni), I tend to treasure my education much better.
Sometimes i tink that top schools may bring networking, but they tend to live in their own world.. bec' most kids who attend those schools are rich.. can be also quite snobbish too. Not all are snobbish of course, but it somehow give me the impression that most are somewhat this way.
As for network, u need not to have a good education to know people who work in high places. Working can also obtain connections.
