(2008/04) April 2008

Joelle: I am ruling out either he is uncomfortable due to teething or prob, the cereal is too smooth. Second mouthful only, he started screaming n crying.

But I tried cooking millet powder with pureed carrot n pea. It tastes so bland. I find cereal more tasty but instead he finished up. Dunno whether if its the texture.

Lynn - my ger intake also abt yours, don tik yours is rejecting milk so seriously rite, tik u too stress.

Calamari - i took 1 tbsp of cereal mixed with EBM to make a thick consistency, not feed 1tbsp of cereal, 1tbsp like very little lei. hahaa.

Sherin - change bottle also change teat rite? Tik summer not used to new bottle & teat, try to intro slowly so she can get used to new bottles. Can Dr brown teats fit evenflo bottles?

Yesterday - i cooked porridge using white baits stock, after tat i added with green peas to the porridge, yummy! I tasted it and it taste quite good, white baits makes it 'sweet'...My ger finish one whole bowl of porridge.....after few hrs i gave banana puree, she also loves it. Tik she like watever i gave hehe. This weekend must cook porridge again, i tik it taste better than cereals.

Koori, it's e same teats le. I'm also not sure what's wrong.
I'm tried using ikan bilis, so tasty. Shall try white bait this weekend.
Weekends has been so tiring for me. Summer has been so clingy. She must keep me in her sight all the time. At home, when i'm in sight, she wont even let her daddy carry her.
Any babies also very clingy to mommy?

porridge:
my mum says ikan bilis is better than white bait cos ikan bilis with bones, calcium higher. remember the nutritionist mentioned that during my antenatal class at MT A also.

prawnie,
u try apple/ pear puree with cereal? cos it's sweeter so maybe Xavier will like it.

Koori & Summer_mama: Think I phrase it wrongly. hee.. Xavier prefers the bland millet powder than cereal. I think its becos the millet powder after cooking it's more starchy n lumpy. Just fed him and he managed to finish up 3/4 of it.
l try white bait soon.

Summer_mama: The fruit cereal can get in cold storage right ?

Maro: so far fruits I din add into cereal. Only give as puree.. hee.. maybe one day shall try.

Re: Baby clingy
Meal time and bed time only then Xavier will look for me. So I'm quite relax at times when I go out with friends, they will help carry Xavier, he enjoys the attention. hee

koori. my girl's intake is 500-600ml cos i feed when she's sleeping. when she's awake she'll reject milk totally. i've tried waiting up to 6 hours and she'll still take only about 30ml!

Angel: I hope Dana's fever is gone.

Goodbb: Managed to get your ERGO?

Baby biscuit:
I gave mine the Farley rusk, mixed with milk as cereal. So far she likes it. Also tried those little gerber munchies, but still can't eat it well.

Constipation:
I just went away for the weekend and leave Maddy at home, but the whole time I was thinking of her. I worried that MIL did not give the right food blah blah blah.... and not sure whether it's true or not coz she has never handle her eating solid. And now Maddy got constipation.

She cried before she pooed. Advise on what to do please?

Prawnie,

Organix cereal can be found at Vitakids, they have a branch at Forum.
I give Ethan Nestle Rice + Mixed Fruit Cereal, it can be found at supermarkets.
He loves it and I've tasted it and find it yummy too!

Diva: Thanks. Shall check it out
happy.gif
I have yet to open up the two boxes of HT cereal which you helped me to purchase. =p

Maddy's mum: Can try giving pumpkim/ papaya puree. If can, allow Maddy to drink a little water at differnt hours interval.

Prawnie, i cant remb where i got it. One of those organic shops i think.
Xavier likes more lumpy food huh? I think Summer too. That's why i try not to add too much milk or water into e cereal for a thicker lumpy consistency. But personally i find it too dry at times.

Maro, is pear/apple puree sweet? I have given Summer Steamed apple. I just cut into smaller pieces and let her chew without blending. She loves it. Not sure if it's e taste or the chewing that she likes though. But i've tasted and only to spit it out immediately.

prawnie,
my boy also likes it more starchy. so normally for cereal, i dont add water, just the fruit puree.. but will feed him more water after that in case of constipation later.

cloudme,
then u receive the rompers, the label is cut.. oh, oh.. if that's case, possible to exchange?

summer's mama,
i tried it, pretty sweet, both the apple (Goldland) and pear puree.

cloudme,

do we have to cook the papaya or we can let them eat fresh papaya? My girl also almost cried with she poo over the weekend. Can see that she is in pain but nothing we can do. so in the end both my hubby and me squat down beside her doing the poo poo sound to encourage her to poo. her hands and feet all cold cold. and can see that she is perspiring. i see liao heart pain. hehe.

Dear Mummies

thanks for your concern and hugs for dana. Her fever has subsided a lil with medication, but still low-grade (37.7). She also not feeding well, only took 80ml of milk at 10am and less than 1 tbsp of cereal just now at 2.30pm.
sad.gif
it's tiring and pains your heart to look after a bb's who's unwell, irritable and listless

RE: Bb Constipation
Maddy's Mum & Cloudme, try mashing some silken tofu (NTUC sells the organic type) with some dole bananas for bb. Chewy says Elliot likes it and poo heaps after that.

RE: Feeding Water
Doc advises us to feed Dana water to hydrate her and bring down her fever but we haven't been doing it since she was young so she totally won't drink a sip! What can we do?
sad.gif

angel
if dana is on fm, can dilute a little with more water
or try gripe water, glucose water (very old school method, this)
or juice - apple, pear, etc.
try sippy cup or even the rim of a regular cup, she may enjoy gumming and slurping at it.

Dear mummies,

When should i start giving my bb 2 meals a day? Currently, he only had cereal for lunch. And when to start giving him porridge, fruits etc?

angel,

I agree with Joelle on sippy cup. my boy also hates water
sad.gif
finally, let him try magmag yest, he happily suck **maybe it's novelty of using a new thing.

angel,
try using syringe with glucose water and use toys to distract her when feeding, that wat my mum did when my boy last week. hope this help..

angel,
glad to hear dana is slightly better. dont worry too much, she will be well soon.

Re: feeding water
How about using spoon/ syringe? My boy does not like it previously when giving warm water and my maid commented that. So now just give him water (room temperature) without mixing with hot water and he is taking it well. You may want to try.

nana
sometimes duno why bb so many pattern. one day drink water, nxt day don't. one day like magic cup, nxt day refuse. have to try everything. no wonder my home is like a big warehouse!

Hi Diva

hubby says it's too early for potty training so can we get the 1st block instead? What is your account for transferring payment? Thanks for organising this BP.

Thanks mummies for your recommendations on water feeding. Tried squirt spoon, didn't work. At dinner time, tried the Born Free Training Cup, she took few sips, realised it's water and started to gag....looks like have to use syringe next, no choice...
