Simp, you shouldn't freeze for EBM. A lot of the precious nutrients will be lost in the freezing processs. freeze only when i have surplus for more than 5 days. If use within 2-3 days, store in tight container in fridge will do.

Regarding nipple confusion, for the first few days, my CL (or anyone else but me) feed baby glucose water and FM using a small plastic cup / spoon. If i feed, its always latch on. SO that baby equate me to latch, other people cup or bottle. Baby will prefer to bottle feed cos dun have to suck so hard for milk.
NUK teats are supposed to help prevent nipple confusion.

Congrats to all mummies who have popped... Take care and have plenty of rest.

Nipple confusion: Actually depending on individual babies, both my #1 n #2 have no problem with nipples and teats.

Usually I will latch my bb unless when I got sore nipples, I will pump out BM and put in bottle for my bb. In fact I used Avent and NUK bottles and she sucks well on both teats.

i am so sad. bb has been hospitalised due to jaundice for 2 days and doc suggested letting him have FM during these 2 days instead. cried my heart out when i left the hosp as bb was left in the nursery cot crying nonstop. i am missing him so much!

why must bb have jaundice? I hate it so much.

Tsukushi,
U just gave birth so it takes time for milk to come usually 3 days or 5 days later. Just feed glucose water like 20ml on top of bf with colostrum. Take papaya with fish head soup to increase milk supply. Very fast within a day to 2, more milk will come. Take warm water or hot drinks like milo abt 30 mins before the next feed to increase milk supply or after a meal.

Pls take care, bb needs you around. U can go there daily to feed him or use EBM to feed him instead of FM.

My bb also has jaundice and i see that almost all mummies' bb have jaundice like 80%. Many of our bb here have jaundice.

Congrats to all that pops.

Simp : to warm up the milk, just put bottle in the cup with hotwater for those in the fridge. For those in the freezer, leave it in the fridge to thraw , then use hotwater.

My baby will reject the non-nuk teats for a while but since she is very hungry already, she will drink frm the bottle alright.

The reason for feeding frm spoon is so that bb wont reject your nipple when the supply is low. BB will prefer the fast flowing "nipple" from the bottle when she is a few days old. After she accustom to your nipple and the flow is good. She will drink from your nipple as well as bottle.

so no need to worry abt drink frm bottle.

If your bb is of the high risk jaundice like mine, do watch out for "tired" baby. Jaundice baby are less active and make sure they drink enuff.
** high risk refer to those mother and child are of different blood grp **

gervynne : you can express your milk and bring to hospital every morning.. Call before you go. catch the bb's milk time so you can give her 1 feed there.

i bring milk to my bb everyday when she was there.. but still need to supp with FM

Happy for you! I wish its my turn soon. You know, I got a giant baby and hope she will come out real soon as Dr Cheng not willing to induce for me. For some, it takes a bit longer for the milk to come. Have heard Mrs Wong say drink red dates tea (without sugar) and eat papaya soup and fish + drink lotsa water. It may help.

My gynae also not willing to induce for me. Is ur gynae Dr Henry Cheng at Bishan? I m on ML now, waitin for my bb to come out... But each day as I waited, I cant help but get more and more frustrated and ended up crying everyday at home. During night time, I ll get contractions and menstrual cramps like symptoms and I wld wake up happily thinking that it is gg to be "the day", but everytime as noon approaches, no show, no water bag break, inconsistent contractions, I ll cant help it but break down in tears! Though pple kept telling me tt this is a gd time to rest, but I realli find it v hard to rest while waitin for bb to come out.

I was also worried abt a big bb cos he is already 2.8kg at wk 36. are u drinking anmum? bb will experience growth spurt at this stage. mine is born 300g heavier than the est wt 1 wk ago. my cl makes red date tea. didn't know it boosts supply! will drink more then..thx for the tip! btw, I heard fr the nurses that both our gynaes do not use pethetine (spelling?) for jabs. I was so relieved to hear that cos I didn't want to have narcotics as pain relief. it will pass to bb.

btw I didn't experience much contractions b4 I delivered. had no symptoms. so don't be overly concerned if u have no cramps!

Chewy - baby Valerie is a little petite otherwise she is fine. Sleeping all the time, suckles well and her sisters adore her.
HB putting up a family blog,will let you gals know when it's done.

all mummies rest as much as you can, u need stamina during the last stage for pushing...all yr effort this far is worthwhile...jia you!!

congrats to those had pop....

well... i'm into my 2nd week... tomorrow... my mother in law will allow me to wash my hair... haha with the herb of course lah... but better than don have rite... been bathing everyday with the herb still my skin is having problem as i had serious eczema (don think the spelling is correct but lazy to find out the correct spelling...) therefore my neck area is full with red spots... haha....

will be going out again tomorrow coz going to polyclinic for my gal jaundice review haiz..

pethetine is a kind of narcotics for pain relief. 1st level is gas, then narcotics, then epi. I was given a jab on the bum cos too late for epi. but anyway I didn't feel any effect fr that jab. btw some studies show that the narcotics will pass on to bb, making him sleepy n less alert. the narcotics effect on bb will also take some time to wear off. that's y I didn't want narcotics as a pain relief. but our gynaes do not use it so u dun have to worry.

Poshies,
I have history of skin allergy as well. I am only at day 7 and my neck has showed spots/rashes. Today my HB asked to to apply a bit of desitin cream that we use for bb. Think after i applied this afternoon after the herbs wipe, the rashes are no longer red and dun really perspire around the neck. Think this is good since desitin help to block out bacteria from urine and poo for bb's butt. I will test again tmw. Maybe u can try.

tsukushi: the only symptoms that is "confirmed" that we be admitted is show or water bag break rite? Else go hospital also v malu if make a blunder.

Cloudme and Calamari: ya, when i went back to work, v sian too, cos pple will keep on asking y baby not out yet. Even now when i m on ML, i get occasional sms asking if bb is out alr, i.e. like bb out liao, i dun 12 tell pple. I was thinking if bb out liao, then v good! i sure announce to all the pple I know. lol. Well, we all jiayou and I m so glad that i m not alone in this. Btw, does any1 experience frequently poo-ing these few days? My mum told me it is a sign of impending labour, but dunno if its true anot!

hi all, just to sharde my birthing story
I delivered today, through unplanned c-sect. I always want to have normal del, but due to complication, i have to agree w c-sect, no other choice.

When for check up on 1st apr,my gynae did cervix check, and still not open yet, baby also not engaged yet. At nite 1am,Started to have mild contraction, still can sleep and wake up once a while. But in the morning 7am, getting more evry 5 min, sometimes 3min n 7min. I still went to office, as i have not passed down my work yet, n my pain still bearable. Then 10am decided to left office, go to hospital. The pain getting worse. At 3pm gynae asked me to inject penthadine, as my contraction are closed, and she cant induced me with tablet. She think my cervix is hard type, will take very long to open up. But at 3.30pm, suddenly i see my ctg monitor, baby heartbeat drop to as low as 30, no body around that time, i call nurse on the button, she only came 5min-10min later,that also after i call my mum that waiting for me outside delivery suite. When they came in,they all panic, and immediately burst my water, my cervic is 4 at that time,but the baby already stress and pass motion inside. Immediately announce code red (feel like in grey anatomy movie), tell me to go for csect, as the heart rate still not picking up.. Then i only awake at about 6pm,baby already out. When i asked the nurse, they only want to say baby in ICU. I worried and cried.
Now they already suck out the motion from the lung,and monitoring the baby. Hope everything is alrite, shes still on breathing device. Pity her..

So just some advice for u, during labor when nurse not around, once a while, check for baby heartbeat in the monitor..as u wont feel whether the baby stress or not. Another thing, try to have somebody with u, so that they can really call the nurse in case they take forever to answer ur bell..

Thats all my sharing, hope it wont bore u all..

mummies, wanted to ask what's the real contraction interval like? i've been experienced pain the past few days but today the pain were more frequent as in 2-3hrs interval, each pain lasting about 5-10mins, and sometimes after that will poo. Is that normal?

u also have to come in if u have 5min interval cotraction and if baby is moving less, and if u have heavily blood discharge. As for the show, it may happen 2weeks before labour.

blessed, jiayou! It is a long wait but definitely worth it! catch up on more rest meantime otherwise when bb is out, you can hardly have a wink!

chelchel. congrats!! I had c section and under painkillers and nurses were still okay with me BF-ing my baby 3 hours after the op so no worries!

mummies who poppped, do your baby's skin peel or crack alot? Mine does and I wonder if he has really dry skin or it is common?
