joelle

its just a simple butter cake with fondant on top... then to simplify things for me got cake toppers hahah... seems that this is rather idiot proof.

oh hmmm
re: GUG class
will be bringing my boy for it this sat... will give the feedback after that.

angel: Kindermusik is quite good, IMO, better than Gymboree. I am weighing between continuing with The Little Gym for the 3rd semester or signing up with Kindermusik. Afraid that having 2 different classes will be too packed for the weekends.

hi mummies
My son was suffering from high fever pass weekend...diarrorea, coughing, running nose etc.my mum said must be due to teething(inner one). anyone experiences something like this?

cath

hahah yaps its a good think to try! hahah but practice at least once to confirm before you decide on it k.... :p hahah to prevent any accidents... :p also this way you can save loads on the cost of a cake.... coz in truth it only cost me about 65 to do this. cost include the cuppies as well....

angel, wat time is the trial this sunday and where? Cos we have church service on sundays and my hubby doesnt like to miss sunday service. So need to know location and timing.

hoon: have u brought Javier to the PD yet? My PD told me teething may in some occasions caused very very low grade fever only, not with diarrhoea, coughing and the works. Sounds to me like a virus or infection.

hoon

yaps... think you may want to bring him to the pd.. sounds like something is going on... i heard of mild cough, cold and diarrhea with low grade fever...while baby teething but nothing like what you said. pd ever say that if there is high fever better to go to him just to be safe.

Hoon,
Zhiyan was down with similar syptoms a few weeks ago. Think it might be a similar infection. My PD said that teething will not cause high grade fever. Last few weeks was really bad for me. Zhiyan was down with fever, flu, cough and sorethroat. Then she wasn't getting any better until PD eventually started her on antibiotics. After which she recovered and a week later she developed high fever again and then followed by running nose, cough again. We thought she hasn't cleared the last infection turned out to be a seperate viral infection. But now she is alright liao except that her appetite hasn't quite picked up yet.

Angel, Jaspire
Yes i agree w calamari, kindermusik is gd if ur bb luv music n movement. I only tried the trial in kl n wd prob sign her up when shevon turns 1yr next mth n after her pneumoccoal jab hahaha

Hoon
Ya like wat Amy n jasmine said, i think it is a viral thingy. Shevon got that from me n took antibiotics as well for a week but in between all her milk, water, i gave her lingyang n barley to help her recover from high fever. her fever lasted for 3 days n super high like 38.9degress so i think lingyang, barley water on top of the anitbiotics n fever medication helped her to reover faster. U need to wait for 2 hours to give bb herbal stuff if u have given western medicattion. However barley n lingyang not really herbal herbal so ok.

mummies, how about phelgm and runny nose? Kayla has phelgm for almost 2weeks liao, finished the whole course of antibiotics and almost finish the bottle of runny nose and phelgm medicine but still no improvement. Any advise? Think i might need to bring her to the PD soon again.

I am so so pissed with GUG after my encounter with them.
So GUG is totally OUT for me.

We've gone to TLG last sem when summer was much younger. In my opinion, it was good. Just that timing was abit rushed, so we didnt continue.
Summer would always be sleeping until we walked into the class.
But i think for the older babies n tods classes there are more classes and better timings.

We have signed up Summer with Seimpi School of Music at Funan. So far, so good, we like the class.

She is a super clingy baby, so i hope to socialise her more through enrichment classes.

Hi Mummies,

I like Kindermusik too. Julian's there since 5 months. He used to be so clingy. Now, he is able to mingle with his classmates. They have things like drums, shakers, mirrors to aid the class. They have a CD in the homepack. The songs are very nice and somehow help to calm Julian.

Yah TLG is good. I find Kayla is more expressive and picks up things better/faster. She is a bit 'chor lor' though. Cos the class she is attending is all boys except her and another little girl hahaha!

Hi mummies
On Thursday he had sorethoat ,then on friday middle of the night he cough severaly and vomit afew times water with phelgm then temp start to sgot up , when about 7am his temp was about 38.5. I faster rush him to pd,the pd told me his lung abit sound so he suspect infection or virus, so pd gave antibotic to javier too, ask me to montitor, his temp goes down after taking all the medicine but sunday morning its shot up to 39.6...wow i faster gave him the standby high fever medicine from the pd . Luciky it goes down till today his temp maintain at 36.8-37.2...hopefully it will not shot up again.
then my mum and fren told me maybe teething.
must I continue the antibotic if he is not having fever? or like adult we got to finish all?

Hi Amy
did pd said virus attack due to what? my pd never explain to me...i also forget to get more info from him ....did you bing him out to crowded arear before 2nd time fever attack? I scare to bing Javier out now, scare he ganna virus...but i had to bring him to my mum place everyday you see...

Jaspire, the trial this Sun is at Tanglin Mall, 1pm. Our svs is from 10am to 12noon so just nice to go after that.
happy.gif

Jules' Mum, is Julian's class on Sundays too? He's doing the Village curriculum right?

hoon

antibiotices must finish can not miss or stop. otherwise the germs willbe able to gain immunity to it and the next time, this antibiotice wont work on your baby

elijah's mummy

thanks....i scare my boy will vomit out if i keep forcing him to drink the antibotic....challeng for me and hubby to feed him medicine....

Hoon, hope Javier will recover soon. Sometimes it takes more than 2 weeks for them to fully recover...so do take care and dun panic. Ensure that he finishes his antibiotics even though fever is gone. We use a syringe and feed after milk when bb is drowsy/sleepy.

Angel,

Julian's class is on friday 3pm. I go home early every friday just for this class. He is doing village. This semester is Do-si-do. Lots of dancing and fast tracks. Their semester last for 8 weeks. After that they will change another theme. Hope Dana will enjoy as much as Julian did. He gets so excited when he sees the teacher giving out drums. His teacher, Ms Hazy is quite good. The pace is alright. Not too fast for the babies.

I tried Gymboree but didn't really like it.

Hoon,

Hope Javier get well soon.

For me, I try to feed Julian sitting down. I find the more I grab him the more he struggle. Usually fever will peak during the 5th day then slowly get better.

hoon,
PD never say virus attack due to what... But must finish the whole course of antibiotics. But if yours is a virus attack then why are you given antibiotics? The syptoms sounds like what zhiyan went through the last time. The fever went up and down and even after taking med, the fever still stayed around... Was so stressed from taking care of her...

hoon : hope javier get well soon..
jaspire : hope kayla get well soon....

Aiyo ...see baby sick is probably the most painful for mummie.. how you wish you can suffer in her place.. :|

Re : diet
Orh.. btw, recently, I just mixed brown rice into my gal's porridge. She seem to like it and just a short 1 wk..I can feel that she has significantly gain weight. More meaty liao.. ha ha ha

Re : walking
My gal still dont have confidence to walk > 3 steps.. hmm.. trying to train her confidence.. any suggestion?

Amy
PD said my son still not sure whether virus or infection, therefore give him antibotic and monitor for a week...what he mean by that? you mean Zhiyan had virus attack but he is not taking antibiotic?

Jgal
tks ,ya when i see him cry so heart pain....Javier never feel so terrible before.

hoon: virus and infection are different. Babies only need antibiotics for infection. Kayla was sick for 1 week 2 mths back due to a flu virus and recovered without antibiotics as antibotics does not counter viruses. Hmm...I suggest you see another PD for 2nd opinion?

hoon,
like wat angel mention, u can try to give javier medication using syringe and feed from the side of the mouth. my boy does not like western medicine,he struggles a lot, a real challenge. chinese med is ok.. strange.. anyway, learn this method from hospital nurses when my boy was admitted for a day due to phlegm 2 mths back.

jgal,
my boy also v lazy to learn how to walk, worse he tip toe.. my mum has been urging me to buy walker which I've refused.. beside pushcart, any other ideas?

Hoon,
Antibiotics is to treat bacteria infection. In theory, it will harm the bacteria in the body but will not hurt the body (I am refering to adults here, not too sure about babies). Your PD probably doesn't want to rule out any possibility thats y he said to give first then monitor ba. Virus infection treatment has to be specific to the type of virus infected. Most effective way of treating viruses will be through vaccinations, and since the medical industry do not have a vaccine for everysingle type of virus in the world, treatment for virus infection is usually just treating the syptoms which explains why the same med for flu and cough is given irregardless of the type of infection as these are meds that treat the syptoms such as coughing and sneezing. Zhiyan did not take any antibiotics during her virus infection coz PD say no need.

Feeding med is a battle everyday when she is sick... I dread feeding zhiyan med... feels more like i am feeding her poison...

Hi Hoon,

wishing javier to have speedy recovery. You must take care too...

Jayden has to take antibodics in the past too and he has to complete a 7 days course but need not finish the whole bottle. Side effects is watery stools.

take it easy on urself... it is tough to feed our kids with medicine. Esp after they have taken it for a few times, they know what they are expecting, they tend to struggle more. But no choice, it is better for them to recover.

Hi Mummies,

Need some advise here. My boy is comin to 11mths and I was thinking to send him to Playgroup when he turns 18mths. School starts 7am-1pm (Half Day). Do you think this is too early for him?

maro: my son also very lazy to walk. maybe he's not ready la. he can cruise but he dun want to push e pushcart nor want us to hold his underarm to walk. I just rented this toy where there's a 'walker' tat moves around e centre station. he likes it and keep running in it. I'm also cracking my brain to get him to learn walking.

mummyfel : I intend to send my boy to childcare or playgroup when he turns 18 months too.

angel : michael contacted me. will discuss further with him. thanks.

jgal, my girl also no confidence to walk.. she like to walk on bed, cos she know if she fall, she will not feel pain..

Re: fever
Charis is also down with fever for 2 days with cough.. Heng, today she is better
happy.gif

mummyfel & araid22, me too puting charis to playgroup when she is 18MO. but scared she will fall sick more often
sad.gif

Hi, I am putting Kayla to half-day playgroup at 24m instead. Think no rush as she is attending playgroup/enrichment classes now, so can start at 24m instead of 18m.

Mummyfel: how come so early at 7am? The school I am sending to starts at 8am.

charis's mummie : ha ha ha : P my gal prefer to climb/freefall at the bed.. she will climb up the bedrest and standup and freefall onto the pillow. *aiyo*

kayla's Mum : some of my colleagues also recomm. that I send my gal to school after 2 yrs. However, my colleague's 2yr-old was sick for the past 6 mths.. and she is tbf baby..
sad.gif

maro : I dun think they will need the walker now. they can "walk" already. Only a few more tries before they are on their own. Walker.. abit wasted right..

childcare: I'm worry about falling sick too. But what my friends assure me is their get stronger. I tot of sending Julian earlier cos my maid cannot work at home. He wants attention. Haha. My parents are against the idea. Sim tia the grandson. Haha.

Hi calamari and amy
thanks for your explaination.
sad to said I bring Javier to see the same pd again yesterday, when i went back home , he was crying non stop after a few times of watery stools and cold sweat despite is cold raining day.althrough I knew it may be the side effect of antibiotic but my hubby still worried so had to see Pd again.
after that when we fed him medicine, this time round he vomit all out together with milk. but luciky he start to play happily after crying...

Maro
i use the syringe side, front he also don't want, use the medic feeder with teat one he also dun want, once he is in lying down position he knew somethings coming up...if he see milk bottle still ok, if he see nothing (cos normally i hide it) he panic liao. Now he was so forbia that he dun drink anything including water except milk....

Jgal
Javier also like to 'fly" from my bed ...either to the floor or to the lunlop on the floor....

hi jaspire

I have one caterer, but this is those traditional one,not fancy kind, his food is good, since i ROM use his catering service till now..if you want I can email you his menu.

Thanks hoon, jgal and charismama.... I will check out angeli and neo garden. Think i used neo garden during Kayla's 1st month... so will check out angeli first.

Maro, You can try to get the fisher price supermarket trolley walker.
It's quite steady.
Next time when he can walk independent, he can still use it for pretend play purpose.

Re: freefall
freefall has a certain impact on the children's brain and they might get the shaken/ slam baby syndrome.
