so looking fwd to start cooking porridge this weekend. yippie!

bx:
maybe she is not used to the strong sun? hahah aircon is more comfortable ya hee~

jass,
she was on my hb's bicycle. when i rode past and call her, she "bi chui" (cry abit). I think she wanted me to carry her. keke...

crystal / garfield:
yeah.. thanks for letting me take over.
happy.gif
gar, how much to tt to u?

bkkgal:
thanks for the info.. was looking @ the lentils in ntuc yesterday.. wondering how to cook. end up nv buy haa~ buy the powdered flaxseed instead... looks like a lot wor.

bx:
ashlynn so cute. think she is not used to cycling.

Would the nuah nuah porridge be fine enough to feed to our babies direct? Need to process further or not? I scared baby choke...

Can anyone share how much milk your baby drink nowadays? My baby doesn't seem to be interested in milk and she just started out solid only. The only time she start drinking milk is when she wants to sleep and by then, she can't finish her milk. yah...it's really a bad habit but no choice cos she will fight with whoever trying to feed her milk and end up she always win.

cheryl,
my mum bought for me this kind of rice call "xin bi", think it means young rice. it's good. the texture is very good. i am not sure it it will be the same effect if i soak for 1-2 hours or overnight.

if u get good texture, then i think 1-2 hrs before cooking should be fine bah.

gar:
me too... miss mummies and babies hee~

ladies, will u all wanna come for lunch or after lunch?
i have just 'converted' my platform to bb's play area - (covered by w playmat) haa~

sgwave:
you might want to give rice powder 1st if you bb just started out on solids. as the texture will be smooth and fine.

bx
xin bi which is newly harvested rice is the best for cooking porridge. The teochew love to use it because the "nam" (water) is very nice. when i was in bkk, this is easily bought from the market easily each time after the harvest season. The rice that is imported to us comes from warehouses where it is kept for months before export.

Where do u buy the xin bi from?

jass,

Tried rice powder already..she doesn't seem to like it. After a few spoons, she want to "vomit".. She enjoys porridge water though.

i stayed at bpj also...

Bx,

re : No stock porridge

ya, of late i gave her no stock porridge. I'm more into original taste person as long as the taste isn't weird.

Plus my gal really likes the porridge i made so far. Hee...

re : soaking of rice

I do soak rice 4 abt half an hr. then put into slow cooker. I'll put hot water into slow cooker 1st while waiting 4 the rice. then i go entertain my bb or rest.

after 1hr, i will steam the veggies abt 15-20mins. mash them and stir gently into the porridge. then cook 4 another 15 to 30mins. Roughly in total i spent 2hrs in preparing her porridge. As compared 2 last time, 4hrs!

The porridge not as smooth as last time of cos, nt so watery cos rice will produce water rite. so far my gal's been taking it quite well, no signs of choking. *touchwood*

jass,
wow... didn't check the forum for a day only, you already gathered a long list for the playdate liao... damn fast
happy.gif

Artemis,
Have you closed the HT and diaper.com orders?

Hi Garfield,

Okay...
happy.gif
Of course hope can get 15%. Will be in time for the play date at bkkgal's cause they are pretty fast.

Hi snowbelle,

What you want to order from diapers.com.sg? I haven't ordered cause I forgot. :p You let me know soon can cause Danica's diapers is depleting fast.

artemis:
thanks girl
happy.gif

like to order 1 barley ceral, 1 oatmeal cereal, 1 multigrain cereal, 2 baby food: butternut squash. how much in total?

re:playdates@jass's
jass, i will go ask hb...see if we are "brave" enough to bring cayleb out...recently he really dislike crowded place, will start to complain if i bring him to ntuc for a quick shopping but he's ok if we bring him down around the block and playground... really want to take him out and meet other babies...
happy.gif

re: porridge,
for me i do strain porridge after cooking...and i will strain together with the vegie coz i don't puree them, will cook until soft enough to strain (quite good exercise for your hand...heheh...) somehow i prefer using strainer as compared to blender

re: solids,
any of your babies gets bored with the food you give them ? i notice my son will protest if we give him the same thing over and over again. e.g. gave him papaya for past 1 week, and then 2 days ago he protest and didn't want to take at all. finally i prepared mashed pear and he happily take... i think now he's getting bored with porridge as well, coz i always use pumpkin and chick stock for porridge hence taste is quite similar so he's on strike for porridge but is happily eating his cereal (no complain here, coz like xy say...cereal is easier to prepare heheheh)

artemis,
i'll pm you my order list tonight !

re: solid
i just increase giving my boy 2 time solid today. he's 7th mth now.
6am - latch on
9am - 2 tablespoon cereal + 200ml milk
12noon + - 1 small bowl of porridge + 150ml milk
3pm+ - 200ml
7pm + - latch
i scare overfeed him. is he taking a lot compared to your bb at 7th month?

crystal
^5! my boy also 9.5kg now. what's your gal's height?

tute
my mil always asks us not to ask bb, 'is the food nice? do you like the food?' she said bb will tend to be picky on food if we always ask these questions. i don't know how true it is. but, we just follow what she told us.
not sure if her advice is really true, my gal is never choosy abt food. she eats what we give to her, even she's having the same combination of food for few days. so, i will also adopt the same theory on my boy. haha...

sunny
my mum also believes that we shouldn't say "you won't like this" to bb, everything also should say yumm yumm! haha.

tute
hmm actually too much of one thing for so many days might not be good also? usu i give same thing for lunch and dinner but try to vary it after that. think some things like carrot cannot give too much (even for adults cannot eat too much) as it'll overload the system.

mummies!!!
i am so amazed.. baby E has been crawling for about a week now, and today he's crawling all over the house, even trying to crawl up stairs! but can only lift up one leg on the stairs, no strength to lift the other. and he can crawl down to the kitchen or the balcony too, amazing...
