Yea I think we can recover faster without epi. I was like u too that I could get down the bed within hours after deliveyr, and can cross my leg sitting on the bed too, my mum was very puzzled! Hehe

Pixie, statistics is always retrospective so the data they used if from previous years then ya, it's possible that average 30 per cent to service HDB loan. In the first place, a lot of first time buyers do qualify for HDB loan so the 2.6% is not a lot. Even for my resale flat, because we took 30 year loan, we only use about 10% of our combined household income then. And we did take the $40k HDB grant so that helped to keep the price down.

But now, the property market is so different liao. Higher valuation, high COV, every month property prices rising. That's why luckily I got married earlier. I see my cousin, eyeing Serangoon Ave flat (to be near her mum) for 1 year plus liao, still can't afford to buy. Cos she wants unblocked and high floor, 4room for $470k, $50k COV. 5 room, partially blocked for $550k, $40k COV. That kind of price for HDB, next time if she sells, sure lose $. FAINT! :p
 
Tongtong, how many cm dilated were you when you went to hospital? I took super long time to dilate even though I was induced. So, I want to try no epi but scared leh cos I got low threshold for pain and worried that labour will drag for too long. :p

Pixie, actually since you bought direct from HDB, supposed to be the most 'subsidised' flat cos cheapest compared to resale flats. But I know still not comparing apples to apples cos new flats are built in young estates, units are smaller, got bomb shelter etc. Also, I've heard of people who buy direct from HDB and lose $ cos HDB gave discounts on unsold units in the same block!

At least you got 1 property to sell off, so the net amount you have to fork out (maybe 250k?) is still less than my cousin who has to pay at least 500k (after minus the $40k grant) for her first flat. :p

if you compare the market as a whole, the cheapest flat to the most expensive, flats prices are generally too expensive for us blue collar workers
 
so its rubbish, absolutely rubbish if govt say flats are affordable to generally everyone in SG. i am not hard off, i oredi feel the pinch liao.
we are just the sandwiched ppl. the rich will always can afford it, the poor will get subsidy.

aka the rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer, and the medium are getting desperate

btw, yes i can sell off my unit, get a rich profit...which will be ploughed back into the resale unit i'll be purchasing

Pauline, my case rather unusual ( I think). I went for gynae check on Friday, doc said I can be in labour anytime, so asked me to check in to hospital and induce on Monday wor. So my natural birth is sort of like “planned” kind. I was induced at 9+ and delivered at 12.30pm. The dilation came pretty fast for my case. Initially the nurse told me 1 hour 1 cm. Luckily mine was fast no need to be in pain for so long + I did not use epi. So it actually depends on your pain threshold and how fast is your dilation wor. But I will support you to go for no epi ok!!!

Pixie, I am also lucky to have bot the hdb 4 years ago. I also got the 40k grant, so my flat was only 190k. and paid 8k COV. My colleague just bot one hdb at tiong bahru, he paid 40k COV, puzzled!! But at least yours is new hdb leh. I also want new but no options for us that time. So opted for resale. At least your new flat you don’t need to do much reno ma. My resale I spent 30k for reno leh

ya, but maybe not jurong, somewhere near to there. no wonder. so long liao, so i guess ur inlaws not shifting out liao lor.

dat time i nearly wanted to choose a flat near SK or PG, but becoz my mil oredy told us beforehand she not gona help us take care of our children, so end up i took sembawang, which is also good, so near my parents, better still man.
 
Tongtong, I see, I took 14 hours (830am to 1030pm) to dilate from 2cm to 10cm even though I was induced, definitely LESS than 1 cm per hour lor. And 2 hours of pushing before RaeAnne came out at 1230am. So, definitely I'm more scared cos got history of slow dilation and slow labour lor. :p

Wa, your resale sembawang flat 230k only ah? 4rm or 5cm? So cheap.

Pauline, maybe you can check with doc if your #1 slow labour, will it be the same for #2?

my flat in yishun la, yea 230k only 4 room hehe. yea good price, cuz the seller eager to sell.

You just check with your gynae if she/he can foresee the same delivery pattern? Coz my gynae predicted will be faster since my #1 already very fast (3.5hr). And true enough loh for #2. I think that is based on your body and how it behaves when comes to delivery.

Re: HDB flat
Y'day read the news and I was laughing too. Our govt is definitely talking rot. Of course, there is a choice to whether pay for COV but now there is no cap to COV until sellers just anyhow markup COV without much grounds/estimation (just a nice figure which they had in mind). I think govt should provide a cap for COV. Frankly, I also pity newly weds/planning to wed couples these days... So expensive to get marry.
 
tongtong/krystle, I told my gynae that I may want to try without epi this time but all she just said let's see how on delivery day. Cos she said there are some mummies who insist no epi but labour process was so long, by the time, it's time for them to push, they are so exhausted from the pain and no strength liao. End up also got to vacuum or use forceps. Maybe she hinting to me bah... :p

i just called Friso office cos i saw NTUC selling Friso1 at $34 while Friso2 $31 & Friso3 $28...so ex leh...they increased price!
Main purpose not to complain but to ask if got free new P2 Friso2 & Friso3 samples, she said YES

pixie, strathmore avenue is HOT HOT HOT!!! I used to stay in the rental flats near that area from 80s to early 90s. We moved to the east cos can't afford to buy the HDB flats from Redhill/Queenstown area even though we were given discount from HDB cos we were forced to relocate. :p

Steph, I saw the empty box at my cousin's house recently but don't know if it's good. I think memory foam pillow should be not bad bah?

Friso3 i can wait (still got stock at home) but not for Friso2 cos #2 drinking alot now. In another 1-2months, stock will run low so i am thinking of the free home delivery special promo while it last. Hmm...with the FM price increasing every year, it's also better to give birth early hor...chop chop close factory:p

went to gynae tis morning due to super duper heavy menstrual flow after 2nd child birth. It is due to the wall of my womb/uterus has thicken wor... so now i am put on pill n monitor c how for a few mths

hate to take pills cos got to rem to take it everyday at the same time. If pill still doesnt work. I may hv to consider inserting IUD wor. I dun mind putting IUD actually cos it saves me the trouble of remembering to take the pill everyday wor.

it wont deter me but i will consider very carefully. i told my hb that make sure move house nearer to mil liao then i will have #2...
console myself by telling myself - i save more $$ when i put my child with my mil, its a 1to1 attention. just less socialising and teaching by the CC lor...hopefully my boy starts playgroup, can learn something everyday. there's always a silver lining in every problem lor

playgroup ok la.. i'm sending Tate to playgroup next yr and just registered him tis morning ! Wanted to send him to cc but waiting list leh... so playgroup is my 2nd choice lor.. hopefully the cc will call n tell me somebody has given up the slot and I can have it ! yeah !

I also just sent Javin to half day CC for 3 days and he is sick for nearly 2 weeks liao. Headache lei, the amount of medical bills i paid is more than his sch fees lor!!!!
