Hi, mummies.
Thanks for the well wishes. Everything went so fast that it was like a nightmare/dream???
Type of delivery: Normal Assisted Vacuum w/o epi.
Time: 50 mins
Birth story:
12 Sep, 8am - Woke up on sat morning for 10am gynae visit. Got a bit of pain in the back but decided to ignore it.
12 Sep, 10am - Went for gynae visit, BP still high within normal range. Gynae said these 2 days should expect labour signs and he wanted to induce me on Mon (14 Sep). Did not tell gynae about the pain just now as it did not occurred again. Managed to discuss and ask gynae to induce me by Fri (18 Sep - my wedding anniversary) if still no signs by then.
12 Sep, 12nn - Went to Vivo for lunch and bought present for my girl (to tell her from DiDi). Pain in the back returned and although knew it was contraction, the interval was long. Decided to just bear and see how.
12 Sep, 3pm - Returned to mum's place and decided to rest. Still felt pain @ 40 mins interval.
12 Sep, 8pm - Contraction interval @ 20 mins, contemplating if should contact gynae...
12 Sep, 9.30pm - Contraction just stopped suddenly. Happy that it might be a false alarm.
12 Sep, 11.30pm - Contraction returned @ 20 mins suddenly again...
13 Sep, 1am - Contraction @ 15~10 mins interval. Think that it should be it and no joke liao. Cannot wait liao coz the pain was getting unbearable.. Contacted gynae and he asked me to admit myself immediately.
13 Sep, 2am - Reached hospital. By then I could not walked and was wheeled to delivery ward immediately. Nurse checked my cervix and told me delivery will be soon. I asked for epidural and she said cannot coz too late. I was like going mad and asked for thigh jab too. Then she said not sure and got to ask doc. Actually later, I found out that I was already 7cm dilated!!! Of course gynae said too late for thigh jab too and I only got laughing gas to rely on. That time I really felt like killing myself. Then after 15 mins, gynae came and was shocked to see already can deliver. Was shouting for nurse and asking why so few nurses on night duty that night. In the end, got 2 nurses to help me. Asked me to push but the pain was soooo intense and I could not push much (due to lack of energy and sleep). In the end, gynae use vacuum to help.
13 Sep, 2.55am - After 5~7 pushes, my baby boy is out... I nearly want to collapse by then...
Now I learnt the morale of the story, please ask for epidural even during your gynae visit if you >50% may take it. Don't be like me... Trying to be heroic twice and paid the price.
But after the delivery, I am recovering pretty fast and can in fact, get down the bed after 3 hours. The stitch was not that painful so gynae said I looked well too. That is why I only stayed 1 night then discharged. Luckily this time changed to single bed last min (coz I want a better env to rest) and since only stayed 1 night, the bill @ gleneagles is ok. Only S$2900 with all the docs' fees.
