7th month
my mom told me she saw a TV programme in HK by one of top 4 HK fengshui guy that said this year, people who are born in year of dog and pig is at "highest risk" and advised not to venture out of the house after the sun set in the 7th month. Rylee was born in the year of pig so i kiasu a bit, anyway, her dinner is around 630pm so shud be ok. Still in this 7th month, she has had 2 falls, one that injured her forehead and one where a boy pushed her in the playground and she fell and cut her lip a bit. Dunno whether it's related but better be careful. Her night sleep is undisturbed though. Just the usual waking up periodically but not so bad as some of u mentioned here...gosh, half hour to 1 hourly is pretty bad leh..

sayang sayang... I am in the same situation as u la... my hubby also work late everyday and I have to call and ask him wat time are u coming back ? so long never take dinner with you leh.. etc... sometimes we have appt wif friends he always late de... I wonder what so bz wif work too.

Worst, back home he keep trying to tell himself not to think about work but his mind is always away de... talk to him he cannot hear me at all. so he will grab a book n read to distract himself ! hmph then me leh got to entertain the kids ! hmph !

Keep saying wanna change job change job until now still there wat :p:p:p

So tongtong u r not alone... I have accepted it tis way leh... sometimes yes it's true talk to him works but after a while back to square one lor...

Steph, thanks, I very heart pain to see her cry also. Actually FIL did stick on those plastic corner on that table but RaeAnne keeps peeling it off cos she is tall enough liao lor. ;P

Chaye, pixie, last time my contractor did those 'butterfly' energy saving light tubes for our room fluorescent lights. Very inconvenient for us when we need replacement cos NTUC doesn't sell. Better check out that NTUC stocks whatever light tubes you are installing for your house.

Tongtong, I will be upset too. My hubby has tendency to take on many projects (write book, draw comics for newspapers, do freelance illustration for books on top of his already busy teaching schedule) and end up too tired/busy on weekends to spend quality time with our gal. But I accept that these are things that he enjoys and comfort myself that at least he's not a slacker. But must see why your hubby doesn't want to change lor. Maybe you can help him keep a lookout for good jobs?

Chaye, many times me and son already asleep then only heard him coming back eating cold dinner, very pathetic hor? Yet I still angry with him, hai.. same, his mind is still full of those shit in his work and projects, and when I tell him to do things, he will continue to babble about his work and din concentrate with what I tell him to do . very sian lor. Well, at least I m not alone, I just feel very sad for myself. but then he is the men I chose, maybe I was blind when partoh!!

hahaha tongtong. I really must AGREE tat part of "din concentrate with wat I tell him to do..." cos mine also like tat la... if not ask him buy 3 things he end up buying 2 la.. if not wrong brand la.. or watever la.. not paying attention lor..

angry oso cannot solve the prob coz you oredi angry so many times he still didnt change mah.
if i were you, i will choose either 1 of the below:-
A)issue ultimatum (me an ah boy move out unless you pickup your ass)
B) bochup his antics. stop nagging. then he will find it odd why you stop liao and maybe he will 1. start to panic (wife dont care me liao); 2. gleefully happily carry on this shitz life. if he choose #2 then you go back to point#A.........

jokes aside. bear in mind that guys can only focus on 1 thing at a time, so they dont pay attention to you when they are thinking about work.
my hb is very very stubborn and he very pro work too. i managed to get him to change job only when i keep pointing out that: his job will lead to nowhere->no future for his career->forever in a pit->low mood->affect ah boy and wife->everyone unhappy->ah boy bad childhood->ah boy grow up will have a shadow->ah boy cannot study well
you get my drift. the repercussions can go on and on. just highlight the cons of his decision lor...and hopefully 1 day he will wake up.

dont gek sim over this matter liao. you look at it in another way - there are many sad cases as yours and you are not along and some even worse than you so be thankful that you have at least something. think and gek sim, affects your mental health, who is left to take care of ah boy?

we all must hang in there no matter wat for our darling ones lor. everytime i cry when my hb make me angry i tell myself i'll do whatever it takes to be a strong mummy coz only strong mummies can take care of our child(ren)

been thru having depression before so to go there is a very scary place. dont go thereeeeeeeeeee
 
i hate it when my hb plays on his psp, ask hime gimme a peck on my lips he say play finish 1st.

his point: he will play somemore then switch off his console and give me some undivided attention (TLC)

my point: just a peck cannot meh? waste a lot of his time meh?

conclusion: guys cannot multitask; girls can. and, a glass of water is always half filled or half empty, depending how you look at it...

I faint ! cos now then u go fight with young grads to be trained in NIE meh ? so old le... :p and pay will be cut at NIE leh... 2 yrs ? for tat reason I dare not coax him into changing job cos he told me if he wanna change he's not going back to same line wor.. sure suffer pay cut de...
 
Pixie, yea, I think I got angry since the son is born. Maybe I became more grouchy because its tiring taking care of the son alone. Before having kid I never become like that eventhough he works late because I can enjoy watching my tv and do things I love to do.

Your option A I tot before leh. but I got no where to go because lao jia in KL.
OK I will try option B. he is now sick but still cannot leave his company wor. If I bochup him issit very heartless? Everytime I am angry I wrote a lot of emails to him but never send out. hai

Wah you are really strong and weida hor. But I duno if this will hurt my relationship with him if this continues.

he works i also work. but i still need to take care of the kid and the famly matters leh. i rather he earn less but can spend more time with us. he earns 1k more than me nia but $ is not everything lor

ask him to consider your request to think about switching to another industry other than teaching?
but, is teaching his passion? if it is, then maybe you would like to support his decision? (and hopefully something good will come out of this)

make sure you highlight about the pay cut=less $$=not enough for household expenses=cut down on frilly stuff=ah boy got lesser toys (muahahhaah)

always be optimistic lar.

when i want my hb to think about something (which guys are not trained to do), i always say:
"i know you like to xxx, but i was hoping that you could consider my request of yyy. i know you may not like it, but i was hoping that you could give some thoughts to yyy. at least i know you've tried. and let me thank you for at least consider my request first"

I am in the same situation as u too. My hb works in a MNC. He will come home very late at nite on weekdays ( meetings, dinner n drink with customers, etc), at times ard 1am. then continue replying email until 2-3am.
I am used to handling my gal alone. Before I had maid, I used to rush from work to fetch my gal from infant care, go home, settle her n housework, before continuing with my own work.
On weekends, my hb's idea of spending time with us is -> bring my gal to a play area (e.g. go go bambini, I will play with my gal while he works at the cafe), else go to my IL's house and my IL will play with my gal while he continue to work on his labtop. else we will be at home while he is stuck in the studyroom attending conference call.

whenever I complain, he will tell me that he is working hard for our future and I shouldnt complain cos he is earning a few times more than me.
 
Shannonbaby, from your description can understand that your hubby is earning a lot. But mine isnt, so I think its not worth for him to work so hard for the company on the expense of family..
 
i always remind my hb that ah boy not close to daddy is his loss not mine so cant blame me one day. Heng he still scared of this fact and quickly put down whatever he's doing and spend the next 10mins only*faint* with my boy. Coz now my boy dun want daddy to hold him. My hb feels very rejected
 
tongtong, when I am angry, I always tell him that what he earn PER HOUR is less than those working in the market selling vegetables..:p
I dont like it when my hb challenged me to earn more money so that he can quit his job. He knows that I can never earn as much as him, yet he purposely say it.

pixie, my gal also not close to her daddy. she only spend like 10min a day with my hb in the morning before going to school. and thats the car journey from home to school.

Re: Hubby's job
Everyone has their own problems bah. Occassionally, I also complained to my hubby that he is working late like once every week (until 11pm) and for the whole week (especially month-end closing). Same thing like Shannonbaby's hubby, he will challenged me to earn more money than him. But that is definitely impossible and I am not the ambitious type who want to climb corporate ladder. I did asked him to change job whenever he complained tired etc... But I think for his field, wherever he goes, the situation is still the same. I just hope he gets better paid so that I can be SAHM. But I can see that he is working towards that goal and so meanwhile, I got to "guai guai" and work for another few years before his income can support the whole family bah.

But I do agree that due to that our children is getting less closer to us. I see it in my brother's case and it is also happening to me too. So sad....

Wah lau just now on my way home with Rayden (in carrier), walking behind my block park pavement...i was attacked by a stray CAT! The cat paw/jumped on my legs from behind! Gave me a fright & i let out a scream! One of my sandal came off...flew a meter away! Luckily i didn't trip else R will be roti plata:p But my sudden scream startled R & he cried leh...so poor thingy. Thank god my scream was still a gentle one so after i soothe him for few sec, he's back to happy mode liow! Crazy cat...maybe it's the 7th month now so animals behave abit crazy:p

At least when i nag or show black face, my hubby still 'zi dong' a bit lar. The other day, he got Teacher's Day dinner at 730pm at some hotel, he also never go. I secretly happy. He didn't even tell me about it but made his own decision not to go.

MIL nagged a bit saying if never go and show face won't it affect his work appraisal? Luckily, hubby answer her back next year sure no promotion so need to impress anyone. Hee.

Chaye, actually you should let your hubby just try cos now they are trying to attract mid career professionals to be teachers so their starting salary should be adjusted, maybe the pay cut won't be so bad. ;)

babyshannon, I would be angry too if hubby challenge me like that. We are all contributing in our own ways mah. Money is not everything. I would rather hubby earn less money and spend more time with the family. After that, how much money can you bring with you when you die? As long as living comfortably with roof over head and food on the table with no pressing debts, it's ok for me.

Steph, wa luckily you never trip and fall. Or else poor you and Rayden. :p Now, I understand why your hubby not keen on no. 2 since he has such a busy work schedule.

Steph, you still awake? hehe, sorry, typed wrongly, should be #3. I remember he said logistics issues and already not spending enough time with Zander and Rayden. Something like that. If he works such long hours and sometimes even on weekends, really very hard to spend time with the boys lor.

Life has been good. Been through a week at home with Hao Re and Xi Yu, with my mum's help (definitely can't do without her). Weekend is a breeze for me, with extra helps from hubby and he has been great! And I have my first cup of coffee yesterday :) I don't do conventional confinement, think that makes a happier mum :)
 
Kam, congrats, Xiyu sounds like a really easy baby to look after. For a 2 week old baby, her hair looks very long esp the photo of her sleeping on baba. Jia you!

Xi Yu is looking more like you. What a nice little baby!!! I wish my baby will be as easy as yours. But his "Jie Jie" has been getting very naughty nowadays. More and more attention seeker. Must pampered and be carried when she wants to.

The only good thing is that my girl is certainly ready for toilet train! In fact, 9 of 10 times she managed to inform us that she wants to pee and will try to hold her bladdy until we bring her to the potty. I think she enjoys sitting on the potty so much that she is asking for it almost every hour!! Even if she is wearing diapers, she refused to pee onto it too. Insisting on potty every time. That's a very good girl to me. Saving lots of money on diapers. Hehehe.

Myvera, BH contraction must taken ventolin to prevent early birth ah? I tot can just ignore the BH? No?

Yes I have too started Tate on toilet training. He is good at it now. Whenever he wants to pee he will run n say Tate shh shh, Tate shh shh...

We'll put him on diaper when we go out, nap or nite time

Chaye, how did you train him in the beginning ah ? i tried to put him on potty but he refused. hard to make him sit on potty wor. he will only tell me after he had poo. but no use leh.

first few days were tough cos he cannot register what is shh shh... so we hv to keep repeating wat is shh shh whenever he pee on his pants n floor. and we will try to bring potty to him every half n hour n make the shh shh sound lor... he refused at first n keep pushing the potty away and keep saying no shh shh no shh shh but we hv to be firmed.

will hv to keep mopping the floor whenever he pee for the 1st few days cos sure hv accident one... bear wif it for a few days and shd be fine.

I told myself to give him a week actually, if he still cannot I will postpone it but he did it !

We let him stand n pee and not sit leh. Boy ma kekeke...
 
Chaye, ok i can only do that when my hubby is around to help wipe the floor. else very siong for me! since he is so sticky , already very taxing on me. your boy really good!! hehe.

duno leh. woody gave ventolin when i asked him when i shd inform him if i get too much of BH. he said to tell him if the contractions become more n more painful, so i jz tell him lor "ok, now i tell u, it is getting more frequent n more painful liao" n immed he prescribed ventolin.
