Starving till next meal oso doesn't really work tat well with Elliot. NOt easy to feed picky eater cos eat a few mouths dun wan liao, otherwise always throw my food all over! PD say dun give milk so tat the child will need to eat. But we as mothers oso worry dun take enuf milk dun have calcium or H2O intake.. ahahhaha...

Why is salt such an evil food? I agree with KAM, nothing wrong with salt leh. If everythink so plain, you like?
My PD said v sternly to my maid "Make Elliot's food tasty, salt or soy sauce or wat. If not nice you eat it yourself! If you wan him to eat porridge, you oso eat it!" My maid got a shock!
I think the point is to let him enjoy food, not being so freakish abt salt or plain or fried or wat. Everything in moderation can liao. If you really NO SALT, sorry I oso can't help... hahaha.. cos i think at this age, the kids oso know wat is tasty wat is not liao.

I rem 1 or 2 of the babies here went for the trial or signed up. There is a new branch at tampines, Tot of signing up,. But this Elliot falls sick easily leh.. dunno wan to go ahead or not. Anyone got comments on their prog? Good?

Embarassed to say, I dare not bring my 2 kids out alone. Even with hb, it is only for a short while. Cos I too lazy to handle my boy and chase after him lah. With maid ah, I really v lazy liao.

my ILs are the same!! so fed up with them last wk. i haven't gone out with my ILs for 3 mths cos my MIL was in aust.
last wk we went out wah liao my girl was a terror, running all over the place, dun want to hold my hand and walk properly.
u have seen my girl a few times liao, she very guai right will hold hand and not stray far.
but with my ILs around only she go wild already.
why? cos they encourage her NOT to follow me, keep dragging her elsewhere and distracting her with this and that, make her until so hyped up. their idea of making her eat more is also to distract with musical toys etc etc.....so irritated

I went through 3 trials at the LNT tampines branch and I had signed up the term class. They managed to form a new class on sun morning for me with another mummy so our class got only 2 child now. I would the teachers there are quite ok....the jap teacher is the best out of the 3. english teacher is pretty young. Jap & Chinese teacher are native nationals. this centre spends alot of effort in making the materials for the kids....for motor skills...pretend play etc. this area I give high score.

Elliot has reflux problem so probably can't eat too much at one sitting. Your maid gotta be more hardworking lor. Can still give milk lah, just don't increase/substitute his meal with another milk feed? Jia you!

My boy also cannot talk, can only say mama, papa, mum mum, up, out, ba (bus) and yi (1). But sometimes he can repeat words after us but it's a one-off thing and he never repeats the same word again. He uses his expression and pointing to tell me what he wants most of the time. I just let him take his time cos he can identify alot of objects liao so at least got "development".

Aiyo, why they like dat? Your guai guai Lexie so well-behaved. I will be super fed-up too...hopefully she will return to her "old-self" and forget the bad habits.

Yup, you still rem he got reflux. My maid will always try to feed more more more... so I always need to watch over her. Of cos I wan him to eat more, but I dun wan to force him. She will always feed until he cry or upset. cos when he dun wan, she will try to "bluff" him to eat.

Luca, yup, I brought RaeAnne to TCM in Tampines after 5 visits to the PD to cure her cough. Her cough cleared up after 2 bottles of 'pi pa gao' smelling cough syrups.

Haha, Kam, even if we bring RaeAnne out, I got to rush back to feed her porridge or wake up early to cook so that we can bring her food out. No wonder I'm lazy to bring her out whole day. Worse, after she goes out, she don't want to nap cos always end up fall asleep on the car. Sian. :p

Mom2nat, when they are upset, they can't obey our instructions lar. My gal also like that, forever don't want to call me. Only calls me in the morning when she's in good mood or if she's with my hubby and I can't attend to her. Had a hard time putting her to bed just now cos today she napped less than 1 hr at ILs place (disturbed by people pruning trees when she was asleep. I was lying down with her on the bed after her milk feed but she kept pulling my hair to get me up because I was ignoring her 'bao bao' cues ie. putting her hands on my shoulders and making the 'uh uh uh' sounds. Had to carry her to the window 4 times and the fridge 1 time to take magnets (she don't want Daddy carry) before she's finally willing to sleep. :p

Icy, I had spotting too for no. 2, think also because I was carrying RaeAnne. Gynae gave me duphaston, and it cleared up after 1 week plus. I was worried cos never had spotting for no. 1 so I put RaeAnne at my MIL place in the day so that I don't need to carry her so much. :p

. The maid just came last month, but she is more for doing house chores for the family. Mine is extended family le, so she wash and cook and clean and all the misc already very tired already. So she dont look after gwyneth for me. Yes I agree, feeding time is very pek chek, plus my girl DOES NOT like to sit in the chair, she will stand up, so very dangerous, will have to watch her like hawk. So I now more or less give up lo. She wanna eat, ok eat, dont wanna eat, go run around and play and mess the house if she wants, but she must pack up after she finishes playing. If force her, then feeding becomes like a war each time, whats the point, she upset I also upset

But talk about the maid, I think she likes and wants to play with my girl le, but she always ends up spoiling her, so I try to keep the time they spend together if ever minimal, else I headache. She just brought my girl outside the house once, now my girl will always go to her and say key, walk. Faint. But I always say no lo, else hard to control next time.

Kitsune, you had duphaston too? I had them for a few months, yuck!
 
Angelsky, so how many days overdue are you now?

Yup, I hate it too cos it makes MS symptoms worse so I stopped taking it once I sent to RaeAnne to MIL house in the day. I wanted to experiment to see if it was the duphaston that stopped the spotting or because I stopped carrying RaeAnne. Gynae said ok since no more spotting, no need to take. ;)

I'm reading more on gentle disciplining strong willed and spirited child. Which i think Rylee definitely falls under this category.

Speech
Rylee also pretty slow. Now, she can call Di for Daddy and strangely only when she first wake up, she will call me in a VERY sweet melting voice, Mama, Mama to ask me to wake up and let her nurse. Other vocabs, she can say BearBear, Ball, Box, ByeBye. But very funny, all start with B. Like she "conquered" the B words. She rojak one, can speak Em Oi (dont want in Canto), Mei You (dont have in Mandarin) and can shout Pa! (which means 飽indicating that she's full when we're feeding her)

Anyway, my take is, as long as the child shows understanding and comprehending, i think it's absolutely fine. Dont compare and dont benchmark like by wat age shud do wat becos every baby is different and unique. Likewise when they grow older. Becos if we do, it'll never end and it'll only serve to make us gancheong and miserable. In the future, we may even do it subtly and add stress to their life. Let them develop at their own pace, be it now or future. As the parents, we need to learn to look at different child, even among siblings the uniqueness of them and encourage them to shine, not highlighting what they cannot or slow to do.

Sorry ah, suddenly just felt strongly on this, cos i have a fellow mommy here in HK who got a very cute, adorable and intelligent gal, only 1 mth older than our babies, can sing ABC Alphabet song, can sing Twinkle twinkle Little Star (perfect rhythm and words ok!). She's in the same playgroup as Rylee. But the mommy like still not satisfied, in our conversations, KEEP ON harping on what her gal CANNOT do, or "losing out" to Rylee. For eg, Rylee younger by 1 month, but taller by almost half a head than her gal, and she will keep lamenting why her girl so short, and mind u, in front of the girl some more. She'll be like "hey, why u so short ah, aiyah, why cant u grow taller like Rylee mei mei" or cos Rylee comprehending of Mandarin is very good (cos i speak to Rylee in Mandarin since Day1 mah!) and she'll suddenly switch to talking to her gal in Mandarin and when it draws blank looks, she'll be telling her girl "how come u dont understand..." and another instance, cos her gal suffers from quite severe eczema, oredi went to do allergy test and PD told her allergic to cows milk. She STILL gives her FM and i gently told her to change and she said soy milk no added DHAs, bla blah and not as good IQ as FM! Her gal's skin broke out in fierce rashes and her gal scratches it until it bleeds and she blames the girl for the condition, can tell her "see rylee got such good skin, why u scratch yours?". I'm sure the girl can understand lo....I'm like "Hello?!?!? If u can just STOP giving her FM!" See lah, this kind of mommy really makes my blood boil lo. Poor girl. Can u imagine growing up like this, sooner or later sure lose self confidence one...Sorry for ranting, been keeping it inside me for very long liao.

Who is your PD exactly? Why strictly NO SALT at all? My PD is like Mom2Nat's ..he told me dont just view the evil side of salt and msg, there's also good side to it. And when i asked him what, he said salt and msg both makes the food tastier and the baby will EAT them.

I signed Evangeline up for LNT in Parkway Parade with Lynn's Rayden. Nw she's in the 2nd term and all alone in class cos Rayden opt out (going to Shichida nx term) and 2 other babies going to LNT Tampines. So far, no complains for Eng teacher. When the class was 4kids, the Jap teacher can't catch the kids' attention very well. Chinese teacher not so bad too. Material wise, yes - I tink they put in pretty much effort cos I dun tink I can do all these handiwork for Eve to practise at home. I'll probably shift her to Tampines branch nx term cos nearer to home.

I tink this mommy v KS, KS, KS!!! I agree with u that nx time this gal will be v stressed up by her mummy. If she wanna blame the gal for been short, 1st must look at her own ht?! Is she tall?? or her hb is short? She dunno her kid will follow their genes meh???

exactly!!!!! As a mom I feel so bad for the adorable little girl! She's shorter than me by just a bit (I'm 1.64m) and I've never met her hubby but my hubby is 1.84m leh. Of cos it's not a wonder that Rylee is tall lo. Bt SO WAT rite?!?! Tall only mah. I got tell her hello, my hubby tall dats why Rylee is tall, cannot compare mah, but EVERY time we meet at the playgroup, she'll harp on this fact. Constantly pushes her gal to stand next to Rylee and check out the difference in height. Like she cannot believe her gal loses out to my gal becos her gal is supposedly older. Each time she will jokingly says "aiyoh.. U see lah how come u so 没有用 one, shorter than 妹妹 leh...!" and we'd laugh it off but EACH time leh! If I'm the gal I'd be so traumatized y mommy blaming me for my height? Grrrr buay tahan lo. Thanks for listening to me! Politeness really keeps me choking back my words!
 
morning all.

just an update of my situation lor... very long n lor soh.

erm.. 2nd gynae say doesn't seems like i m having pre-eclampsia at this point in time cos BP still normal. but with all the stupid stress at work, at home, i seriously don't think my bp will remain good. my wt has went down by 0.5kg again. haha tis preg really put on little wt. imagine, now already 7 mths n i put on 4.8kg (fr pre-preg wt to now). not given bed rest but if i dun try pull myself out of all these stress, i seriously don't know which gynae will risk not giving a preg person with depression the bed rest she requires lor.

as usual, my work load increases n some idiot who messed up alot of things (which i can never mention here, but if i do mention, all will agree it is a HUGE MESS she made) yet she is being promoted! now she is trying to push her section's work to mine! am keeping my cool as i have all the evidences that she n her section are not doing their job and she created the HUGE MESS over the years. If i kena retrenched or sacked for not accepting the new load, i m going to show the evidences to my CEO liao. now i m busy preparing the battle not to accept the load she going to throw to me.

my hb asked me not to sour the relationship with his mother yday nite. he say he will try to show them there are other methods den simply make my sons cry n cry. but i told him. try me. i already mentioned in my sms in the morning "over my dead body if she dares to try it the 3rd time" i m very serious abt how she treats my sons. frankly speaking, i don't want my sons to grow up like her sons, useless bums they are! the reason why i have been keeping my cool over her is that "i respect her as the mother of my hb" but if she dun give me any respect, or treats my sons in these ways, she does not deserve any respect at all.

at work got shit, go home got more shit. it's a shit world for me leh haha

morning mummies. So many posts to read, haven't read through all the posts yet. ;-)

Speech: I think my girl is also slow in speaking, she can only speak around 15-18 single words for now and depends on her mood. I find it perfectly fine for toddlers this age. In fact, I was very worried coz every time my MIL calls us, the first thing she asks me is WHAT CAN JOHANNA SPEAK NOW? I feel really stressed honestly. I always want to hang up the phone and blow at my hubby. Thanks God, things didn't go that bad yet. I do not agree that by looking at other children at the same age means our own child have to be the same. Some children are good at this but may not be good at another things, you never know.
Sorry ah, but MIL is the no #1 in this job. I am very stressed just to think about all these all over again.
To her, I never do good job in taking care of my girl. Sigh.

I even asked some of mummies over here, why my girl can;t speak full sentence or more words while I have heard so many great testimonies that some children at 18 months old can speak so well? They all told me don't worry about it, some of mummies here their children only speak when they 5 years old. Despite of what parents do to them, bring to consultants, blah blah, they just don't want to speak until they are ready. I know, all of us would go insane if we have to wait until our children are 5 years old. I can't wait for that, but then, what can we do? We just talk to them more, read more and play more, and involve them more in daily activities.

nNemum: don't stress yourself. I don't believe in "forcing" your children to speak. In fact, you make him loose his confidence by doing so. Ever child deserve to be treated as a person. Even if you want to discipline a child, you are encouraged to to it in your own private room, not in public or in front of any other person (this I read from a book). The best way is to respect your boy by letting him taking his time to speak. It SHOULD come naturally.

Icy: rest well ok. Things will be ok.

Kam & mylife: I also don't want to raise up my children in singaporean ways. They are just so competitive and put stress on their own children. Thats why we are considering moving our of singapore for the future of our kids. Really, I can't stand if they keep comparing between children and range the smartness of the children based on the school they are going to. For me, my children don't have to be in the BEST schools, but they will be in a school where they can enjoy the best of life. ;-)
For us as a bleiever, our job is to bring them to Jesus and let their lights be shine. ;-)
 
sorry all mummies here, these few days don't know why my MIL is always in my head. ;-) May be because she has been calling us every other days (!!!) and coming to visit us next month, and offer to do confinement for me when I give birth #2? Thinking of all these, really make me go crazy.
Luckily, my hubby is very supportive. He really try to "cut off" his mom from involving in our lives. ;-)

Mylvera:You need to rest more ok?? I know If I was you, I would be as much as stress like you. But remember, you are preg, and you need to take care of you and baby VERY WELL. Make yourself happy by doing something you like ok? It works. ;-) Cheers up.

ahah nothing can make me happy for time being lor. too pre-occupied with shits. I know I am fighting a stupid war which isn't going to do me any good. ie, no promotion, only enemies n either sustain the workload that I have or increase manpower for the additional workload that will be added to my section. but i have been keeping silence for the past 2 preg. cannot be every preg INCREASE MY WORKLOAD rite? i told hb, i mite even end up losing my job if i choose to fight this battle but i guess enuf is enuf. i can simply ignore all these, ask for HL, clear my leaves (which is alot) den 1 oct go c-sect liao and when i come back, whole new world? but i don't think this is wat a section leader should do lor. leave the shits for the whole section to do while i go on leave?

although yr BP now may not be considered high, u also hv to look at the trend. if it is slowly going up over the weeks then u also hv to watch out even though the current absolute value may not be defined as high. it's all abt relativity

By reading your posts, can understand your frustration @ work and @ home. It is really not easy and over here, I also dun know how to help except lending you a listening ear. I believe you are a strong mum and will eventually win both "wars"!

I found you very brave to collect all those evidences against that colleague of yours and ready to trash things out if the co treated you unfairly in the end. For me, I am the soft type and I was a victim in my previous co. Always did my job diligently and helped colleagues. But too bad got 1 stupid Jap boss who never understand my problems and kept ignoring my request of asking for additional help to cover my work. I was working like hell and imagined I was trying to conceive that time and we tried for 6 mths also not successful. Until that mth when I left the co, bingo I got preggy. So you can see how stress I was then.

What I can say that such stress is really no good for you and baby inside can feel it too. So try your best to stay happy, ok?

yah, at my mil place, got all the educational dvds but my niece, likes to watch hi5 (totally useless) and power rangers (HUH!!) and always drag my boy to watch with her in her room, then my boy will plaster his face onto the tv...each night can drag him out of the room 5 times. rest of the day my mil play better dvds...
harnor weekend is the only time i can teach, which is not a lot considering its 2/7 of a week...i sure hope can bring him back at least i get a bigger share of caring for him. not that my mil is a poor caregiver, just that she's stretched too thin to cover all his intellectual needs.

If I were you, the first question I will ask myself - is my boy happy staying with my MIL? For kid this age, it's totally fine with me that he doesn't learn ABC, he doens't learn 123 from my MIL (I can do it when I see him), but I must make sure my boy is happy (and thus well taken care of). I must know that my boy is happy there and plays and interacts with other happily. And also the influence he has there, you know about the story of 孟母三迁, the mum moved 3 times just to find the best environment for her son to grow up with.

my frd called me n asked me to call my CL (recommended by my frd) cos the CL said that I did not give her my number. and the bad news came. she is unable to come in Oct cos her son wana marry in Oct. tho she is recommending her frd to be my CL, i really wonder if i shd trust her again haha

ive asked myself before that liao. most importantly, what is the best for my son? i agree this age dont need abcs, im not looking for that anyway. i dont put him to CC to learn all the abcs and 123s. i just feel that he is physically well taken care of by my mil but receives no stimulation (or very little). my niece is 3, and she cant speak properly. imagine how my boy will turn out to be. i can only do this much during weekends. hence i think either moving near my mil or putting him in CC will at least guarantee that my boy stays with me at night - more time spent with him to nurture him

I realised that nowadays CL like to "fly kite". Got colleagues also being called up last min that their CL cannot do confinement for them and recommends their friends. For me, I don't trust their so-called friends. Coz we won't know how good their friends are...

friday he is happy to go home with us
sunday is he happy to go my mil place.
im sure he is happy coz got 2 cousins to play with him, and ah ma is not as strict as his daddy and mummy

i've observed that during daytime, the children do nothing but watch tv, play, eat.
even the older ones dont like to draw, colour, read. coz my mil dont follow through the sessions

Em, then it's difficult to argue with your hubby leh. Even if you move nearer to your MIL, it won't help much, cos the day time will still be the same. Though you can be with him during night time, but that's only about 2-3 hours. Can do a bit, but not much. Maybe childcare is till the better choice, that you don't have to move and your son will have more stimulation.

At least your MIL is better than mine. Mine never offer to take care of my girl. And if happen she "wants" to, I feel pain. Coz she can't take care of her the way I want it. She will only hold my girl in front of computer, I don't like this. If she looks after my girl, either hold her in her arms or rock my girl to sleep. The moment my girl hear our voice, she would cry out loud even can't see us physically yet.
She will let the maid feed my girl which I strongly disagree (I never let any maid to touch my baby, don't say about feeding her- sorry, I don't mean to heart anyone but just my personal choice).I feel so pain. If my MIL takes care of her, I can't imagine how would I take it? You know what I mean?
That's why, even I am really tired, I still take care my girl by myself. I only can trust my hubby and my parents to help, that's all.
You are far better than my situation. I have no alternative in term of taking care of my girl. So do not let all these stress yourself. I do not know how to console you much, but by looking at bright side it might help a little. ;-) I always believe that things will get brighter and brighter and surely you will find a solution which works out for both parties.

I totally agree with you tat dun focus on the "cannot do"... it is quite sad when parents do tat, cos I am oso guilty of it. We shold give credit on wat they can and are good at. My hb ask me tat day "how come need to go enrichment classes, are you telling me that the kindergartens are not doing their jobs"...
That girl v impressive leh, can sing ABC every words ah?? I think since these things she can control, she teach teach teach... but like height she can't mah! hahahah...

Maid agency called me, my MOM application has been approved. If all goes well, my maid will arrive early next week. Wa, must buy her things this weekend liao. :p

But luckily, it'll be before my birthday and hubby's reservist. Hopefully I can have a nice dinner with hubby this time instead of rushing back to ILs place by 8pm.

Haha, May, I don't dare to hope for candlelight dinner cos my hubby is not the romantic type. But I already dropped hints for him to bring me to The Line Shangri-la for weeks, hope he gets it lor. :p

Yup, I gpt 2 cheap, thin bath towels and hand towels from my mum last weekend, got a dettol soap (which my hubby uses anyway). Ya, will need to buy a sea horse mattress, her own set of cutlery, shampoo and facial wash (or should I just ask her to use soap for face? very bad or not?). Think I may need to buy her a toyogo container to keep her barang barang too. :p

ya, soap should be good enuf for shower lah, er... i think no need sea horse bah? so good leh u.. my maid i only got her the "ti-lam" the thin mattress where u put on the floor n sleep? shampoo and for facial wash, maybe buy the cheaper brands, dun want soap lah

May, actually the 3-fold sea horse mattress on promotion now, only $39.90. Ya, I have an accordian type of thin mattress, fold up into a small rectangular block at home, costs about $25. Don't know if can let her use that instead. Then I no need to buy. It's quite thin though, only about 2cm thick.

I used the tilam for my last home massage though, if I give to her, I need to buy another tilam during confinement time. :p
