(2008/01) Jan 2008 MTBs

Yvonne, Your FIL sounds like my MIL. When I feed my girl, I hate having her around. Stayed with her for one week in SYD, I know what you mean.
my girl used to be distracted by people when eating, but MIL (despite of thousand times of reminder that please dont disturb her, she still come and talk and say this and that).
And my girl loves green pea, she will show her face in front of my girl and said it's yuck, how to eat like that??? ;-(
I was so angry inside (of course i am not happy), show her my not happy face then she left into her room, hiding there, not happy.
But my girl did finish her meal in the end.

blessedbaby,
I know wat you mean. Best part is they keep asking how come he doesn't want to eat?? I feel like telling them "For goodness sake, cos you people are standing there and distracting him!".

mom2nat,

my gal also doesn't like to eat. I experience the same situation as you whenever we go to restuarant.
But my gal dont really bother even if I starve her. she can dont eat dinner, dont drink night milk feed and last till the next day morning. Doesnt even wake up in the middle of nite to ask for milk.

Yvonne: oh yeah. When my girl doesn't eat, she will make comment like: why not eat? food not nice isn't it? I really went crazy! And she even added, mama will cook nice porridge for you, sure you will like it. I am waiting for my MIL cooks porridge for my girl since she was 9 months old till now, still haven't got chance to taste it. ;-(

Btw, I think your character are similar to mine. ;-) I used to be very strict (yes, both at work and at home). But since I married to my hubby (and his family!!!!) I have become so much more flexible, my strictness become zero?! Things have to done in certain ways when you want to deal with me. Hahahahaha.

luca,
My boy had been falling sick for the past 3 weeks.. sigh.. ever since the last vaccination. flu then diarrhea then flu and cough.

I actually find GP medicine better, works for him, perhaps because the medicine is stronger (since GP medicine is for general). The PD medicine is more expensive and takes quite long to work.

eating
My boy eats everything. I let him eat adult food every now and then. Can see that he kind of prefer adult/outside food.. cos he will go yum yum yum..

He stil take porriage for lunch and rice for dinner at home.

icy,
Cos your boy just started playgroup recently right? When my boy 1st started also keep falling sick every few weeks. PD said they are introduced to a "pool of germs and virus" at playgroups so will tend to fall sick in the initial stages. As long as it's mild then ok otherwise might have to stop for a while.

I am the lucky one when comes to feeding my boy. He eats anything and everything. But that said, meaning we give him anything and everything, with very little restriction. The only things that we don't give him is processed food and food with coloring, so junk food/tidbit is still a big NO-NO. When comes to feeding, I am also very relax - if he can finish 1 bowl, then it's good, if only eats half a bowl, never mind, even if he refuses to eat, also never mind. I never made eating a stressful thing. Just let him take the lead. Again, I can do this because he is willing to eat most of the time than not.

Fern,

Why your PD said no salt till 3 years old? Personally I don't think salt is an evil food, if taken in very small amount (for toddlers). It does add flavour to the food. Or can buy sea salt instead? Not that I encourage the use of salt, but worth trying to see if your son likes food more.

Yvonne,
Yes, he just started playgroup. You are right, that could be part of the reason that he had been falling sick n and off. I had been visiting the GP on weekly basis.

Jess,
Hope Javier recover soon! Have u let him attend the weekend playgroup?

Re: FB
Anyone knows what is the nick for Esther Tan, Fennie Tay, Dianah Soh & Samantha Choy. I saw some of u added them but i am not sure who they are?

For tods not feeling well...
*Hope your tods speedy recovery*

icy,
maybe coz PD's medicine are usually of safe dosage and is not too strong, thats y take longer to heal, now i learnt to take extra set of medicine when i go c PD, thanks to Kam.

Im not so restrictive also, as long its not too much, coz the main thing is they must eat, else really damn headache.

i didnt let him attend the playgroup lei..
cos it is like just sit into the current class. so my hubby thinks not very rite lei.. like tat every kid already progress differently...

How are you??? Didn't get update from you aftand you are NOT attending your farm. Are you okay???

Hi!

No replies on my question? Sob..

You mean all you mummies really let your babes go on hunger strike? We also . donnt want eat give milk as alternative.. My thinking is such a small boy who cant talk yet? How to let him grow hubgry mah. Maybe can talk that time.. different liao.

BTW. You guys let your boys take outside food liao? My home no salt? Outside only mash potatoes without gravy lor.. Everything no gravy.. CHicken rice. Just plain rice like that.. Everything no gravy kind lor..

Need more advise for me heree okie?

Fern

kitsune,
sorry, din reply u cos din expect u here on wkends... ya, it really looks painful, when i try to touch his nails he would just push my hand away.. dat day brought him go for his vaccine forgot to ask doc, stupid me...
sad.gif
he was really screaming n crying cos of the injection, make me luan... i thot there is a term for this type of nails, any idea?

Javin also refused to eat porriage the past 2 weeks. Then my mum ask me add a bit of salt to his food to create flavour, now he finished the whole bowl of porriage without much fussing! i think they are starting to be choosy about food. And sometime we feed them adult food so they are smart they will be fussy if we dun add flavour to their food. So far i ask my PD he say toddlers can take a bit of salt. Then he also say do you like to eat food w/o salt? Toddlers are the same sometimes they can be choosy about food. As long as we dun add too much its ok.

Fern: if you are really worried, then give him fruit? Does your boy like fruits?
When my girl didn't eat, I just gave her A LOT of fruits. and some healthy snacks. She used to be a fussy eater but not anymore (I hope she doesn't read my post and strike the food tonight). Hhahaha. Just joking.

hi all,

my boy has moving lump ( when pressed on it it can move) on his head, left and right. dunno whether it's due to fall cuz i realised about the lump last week. when i pressed on it he din cry so i assume it's not painful?

anyone has any info to share? i will bring him to doc soon.

Pauline, can you pls order for me? Yea I will transfer $ to you la, thanks!

Mom2nat, my PD when she was 1, also told me the same thing, but really very cruel le. Maybe should have been cruel then, since now she so verbal, cruel she will temper with me big time. Plus the grandma at home, sure scold me one la. Give anything possible to her, but she just refused to take. Even junk food k, she dont like means she dont like, only thing she dont mind out of her milk is meiji milk and cheese.

Natural as in birth? Yup, my doc say go natural le. He didnt wanna induce, so got to wait lo. But I was thinking the later the baby stay in, the bigger right, imagine 1 week 500grams, then siong for me only lo.

Yvonne, you solid, I must learn from you. Will go try and see if I get results. Now sometimes milk she also go on strike, will take 3 times to finish her milk. I think whole house, I am the stricter one, now my girl unless its necessary she will go find others rather than me, even the maid she likes coz she know soft hearter. Sianz.

Tongtong, okie sure. I'll order for your first, let you know how much to transfer after I get my credit card bill bah cos I also don't know how much the exchange rate is now. :p

May, I'm also not sure what it's called but my hubby always kenna ingrown toe nails cos his nails are very short and cut into the flesh. Better bring to doctor fast since he's in pain. :p

Re: Food strike
I think it is a transition period that most kids will go through. My SIL also said that sometimes it will last 2,3 weeks and then back to normal. I guess nothing much we can do bah. For me, I will try to feed her more snacks like biscuits and cakes so that she will not feel so hungry. Sometimes also give fresh milk too.

Luca: No, mine doesn’t fall sick easily. Maybe taken care by nanny? I think GP is good enough. For cough and runny nose, go for natural remedies or tcm, western medicine just suppress and doesn’t treat the root, so cough and runny nose tend to recur. That’s my opinion la.

Food strike : mine used to like all food. Now he knows how to choose! Like pointing the food that he wanted in his bowl. So sometimes must bluff him else he will cry if the food that goes into his mouth isnot what he wanted. He hated pumpkin very much now, maybe had too much in the past ? but he likes tofu and egg, and seaweed and kombu now. So I think must introduce new food to him so that he doesn’t feel bored. He doesn’t eat porridge now already, feeding him rice now.

No –No: he started to shake his head everytime I ask him now. But when I asked “ u want vacuum”? he first shake then nod . very funny.

Fern: maybe you want to give some miso or sea salt/bamboo salt, if you don’t mind introducing. As for outside food – only when I go to organic restaurant I will give. And daily if I dapau back from a food stall which sells natural food with no MSG , only olive oil and sea salt is used – I let him eat cuz he very kepo with adult food. Usually I will still pick and choose, if the food is with sauce I will chew out the sauce or gravy first then let him eat. Ok so he eats my saliva la haha. Yea at home, I still cook his food without salt. I cook his veg in veg stock I made everyweek. Actually you are giving outside food already right like mash potato and chicken rice. They both got salt wor.

Jess: don’t worry, fever is part and parcel of a kid’s life. Monitor (check temperature and look at his behaviour – normal? Still eating? Still playing?) and decide what to do next.

Blessedbaby: what kidn of healthy snack do you give?

tongtong
ya lor.. lucky today my hubby never work today. so ask him to monitor lor... he just say my boy the penadol... pink colour one... and put the fever patch.... 37.9 degrees...

nw with so many viruses ard... so sianz....

tongtong: my healthy snack is those organic cookies that are selling at The Market Place. ;-) Well, at least they said on the package that guarantee no junk food (in US and Australia, you only can put true info on the package of food otherwise it is law evaded- so this is a peace of mind for me). ;-)

I believe toddlers at this age they eat alot of things during the day so I guess even they refuse food at the main meals but they still have milk, fruits, biscuits, yogurt, chesse to keep them going?

gals, any of u knows how to calculate the ovulation period? since i m trying for #2, might as well try this as another hope ya
happy.gif
my menses came on 15 or 16, so u know when is the ovulation period to try for bb?

Mandy

JanBB posted last week about the blogspot problem. Scroll up and find the answer. I don't have this problem though :)

May,
Everyone's ovulation period is different. Some may ovulate earlier or later. For me, I ovulate on 14th day of my cycle (I tested using OPK). Then actual ovulation happens within 24 to 36 hours after tested +ve using OPK.
But do you want to try for boy or girl or either is fine?

May,
One easy way - "do it" everyday, if not, every other day :)

Pixie,
Friday reached 717 at 6pm+. No MSW that day. Very limited stock and all taken up by others already. Recommended us the D24 and "green bamboo", not very good leh. He said MSW not much stock already, gonna wait till the next round in October. So previously what they said about lots of MSW in July was not true one lor. He said XO totally no more already, season ended.

pixie,
cold storage baby wipes ok, but since my boy's skin abit sensitive, i use pigeon brand since he baby dat time...

krystle,
eh... honestly i want girl cos i already got boy mah... i really pig one, dunno how to calculate...

Mammy Poko

Bought a pack of MP dipaer to try out since so many mummies suggested this. Failed for my boy, still leaked in the morning. I think my boy really urinate too much leh. But this morning, I changed him immediately after he woke up, no leak still, but 1 more time will overflow again. But I bought the XL size la, maybe next round buy XXL would works for him?

kam,
i have also used mamypoko for my boy everynite leh, from nite time 8pm plus we clean clean for him, we will change him into mamypoko then all the way till he wake up next morning abt 6-7am. from wad we see still ok, of course when he wakes up, we gotta change him already if not going to burst liao... somemore my boy still got wake up 2 times in the middle of the nite to drink milk leh...
