(2008/01) Jan 2008 MTBs

pixie,
i think so, her body will get used to the food one so must always change here change there and keep her digestive system on its toes otherwise get lazy...

Grumpus, actually I started off learning about prebiotic was when my son had eczema outbreak during newborn/infant stage. I got natren lifestart prebiotic from lapis lazuli, a health centre. It’s oral feeding for nursing mum where the prebiotic will be passed on to the breastmilk. Surprising, it’s very effective and cured his eczema. But I never resort to prebiotic for constipation problem cuz my son never constipate. But I understand prebiotic stimulates the growth of good bacteria in the digestive system which are beneficial to the health of the body, and it helps cleanse the body system I supposed? So when body doesn’t have toxic the ezcema will not happen? Anyway that’s how I relate .

Luca, actually this soup is pretty mild. When my son had mild dry cough, I gave him this soup for 3 days and recovered! If the cough is serious, the medical hall people actually recommended “hou2 zao3” with cordycep. Yea cordycep can help build up lungs system, but ihavent tried before though

tongtong
i remembered my pd told me prebiotics is good for constipation and diarrhoea. esp diarrhoea coz she said if you fill up your intestines with good bacteria, then there would be less space for bad bacteria to stay.

kitsune & Jess,
I went to Zoo-phonic at Tampines mart today and sign up for the playgroup. 2x a week and 1.5 hr each time. And I can accompany to join in. The session includes 30mins of chinese. Going to try out for 1 mth and see how.. There are only 2 classrooms there, the environment looks clean.

I wanted to look at MMI too, but realised they had closed.

Blackbatz,
happy.gif
will go check out the promotions you mentioned.

Blessedbaby, really very obvious ma? Cham cham, I dont find it obvious le. Anyway, my girl also vacuum out.
happy.gif

Kitsune, you only looking for Filipino ones? If you looking for Indo ones, find those from Central and West Java only. My hubbie say they are supposedly more friendly. So far, my helper is quite all right, just been here for 1 month, hope she keeps it up, but she dont look after my gal, only when I not free, then she will help me watch for a while, but never alone with my gal at home if no one else is around.

Last night was 1 of my worse nights, I nearly thought I was going to deliver.
sad.gif
. Usually I get mild tightening the stomach but they go away after a few seconds, last night, it lasted for like 2 hours. Tightening and will soften slightly and then tighten again. I cant even sleep off the pain. I panic man. Thank goodness, the pain finally went away.

Luca, I dont mind actually if financially we can afford another baby, but say and think is 1 thing, to actually wanna go through another 10 months, really need a lot of courage from me.

Kam, just saw gynae today, waited 2 hours. Faint! :p My baby was moving her hands, legs and hiding behind my placenta but Dr Wong still managed to scan. Yup, still nothing in between the legs so confirmed it's a gal. You can update the list liao.
happy.gif

Funny thing is after gynae told us it's confirmed to be a gal. She close her legs tight liao, for the rest of the scan, she refuse to open her legs. Dr Wong said after I said she's a gal, she's shy to open her legs liao. Haha.

Icy, sounds good hor. Too bad it'll be quite mafan for me to send RaeAnne with no car. Difficult to ask maid to bring in future also, so I stick to my cheap playgroup at opposite block bah. ;)

Pixie, hehe, but I never experienced bumper crops before leh cos people always steal from me. So not counted as lingo from HF. hahaha.
happy.gif

My hubby also like that, machiam poo after every meal. I always complain cos everytime I ask him to look after our gal, he'll tell me can but must poo first. My gal takes after my hubby, every day poo 2 times, sometimes even 3 times. She takes Friso too.
happy.gif

Tongtong, I also have problems with chinese text input. Think I asked before how to activate the function for Windows vista but no one answer me leh.
sad.gif

Thanks, angelsky. I have no preference at the moment cos all got pros and cons. Central or West Java? Ok, I'll look out for it. Which areas to avoid if I don't want them to add gross stuff into my food and do black magic. Eeks! :p

Icy, no need to PM lar. It's quite standard for 2 hr daily playgroup I think. It's $130 per month.
happy.gif
But still need to pay $60 for 6 mths material fee, insurance is $5 per year. Each set of uniform is $12 (think I need at least 2 sets). Actually got 1 mth deposit but I told the teacher that I want to try out first and see if she's used to it so they said can waive off first. I can pay after the first month and I confirmed to continue. Timing is 9am - 11am, but I saw kids strolling at 920am, 930am so I don't think they are fussy about timing. Tea break is 10am, they provide free biscuits (xiao man tou or khong guan) or you can bring your own snacks.
happy.gif

kitsune: which playgroup is it? u mean 18mths can join or mus wait till 24mths? i tot onli childcare admit 18mth toddlers, playgroup onli take in older kids like 24mths

kitsune,
to activate chinese text input in vista.
1) go to control panel
2) under clock, language and Region, click change keyboards or other input methods.
3) click change keyboards button
4) under general tab click add
5) select chinese (simplified, PRC) Microsoft Pinyin and US keyboard
6) click OK to return to previous screen
7) under language bar, activate language bar (choose either option as long as not "hidden")
8) click ok.
9) from the language bar u can toggle between english input and chinese input.

Oh ya, I took pixs of her the second time I went so you can take a look. The classroom is not very big and they are located in the RC. But I think it's probably good cos less intimidating for young toddlers.
happy.gif

As you can see from the second photo, she refuse to look at my camera and ran off to join the other kids to explore the toys liao. ;P

2640798.jpg

kitsune,

Great. So RaeAnne will have a little sister to keep her accompanied.

For the chinese input, don't know if this works for you. For my PC - right click on an empty space at the "bottom panel" (forget what it's called, you know, that same row with the "Start" icon). Then select "Toolbars", then select "Language Bar". Then a small icon of "EN (stands for English) will appear. Click on the "EN" to change to other language, e.g., "CH" for chinese. Once you select "CH", you will be able to type in Chinese, don't need to install any software.

Grumpus/Kam, 谢谢你,我懂了!

Aqua, no leh, playgroup from 18 mths onwards, mine is not a Childcare Centre. But I asked 2 other centres, AppleTree and MRC and they only take in kids who are 2 plus. CC more exp though I like Elfa but half day prog is $400 after subsidy for PT or SAHM. Maybe when she's older eg. 3 or 4 years, I'll switch her to Elfa which is at Tampines Central CC, also very near to me.
happy.gif

Oh ya, in the second photo you can see the clever little gal Myra who knows her A-Z at 14th months. But she was still weepy and whiny though it's the second time I went to visit. But this time, I saw the maid (dressed in red) with her and her maid was still there when I left at 930am. :p

A-Z at 14months?? wow...Kayla only knows B! the rest of the alphabets she juz mumbles. she cannot say A cos too fast, can only manage to follow from B onwards.. hee hee hee

Kitsune,
Thanks for sharing. RaeAnne seemed to mix well with the kids.

I don't have any material course yet, but uniform is like $20. Classroom much smaller than urs. But you are right, location is very important, especially when u need to attend everyday.

ABC in 14 mths is really Clever! I sing ABC songs everyday to my boy.. now he only can say A.. he seemed lazy to talk.

Windy, better than RaeAnne, she's only learning to say 'A'. LOL. But there's an Indian boy (2 years old) staying at the same floor as me. The teacher said he joined in Jan, so timid and don't not even know how to speak English cos the maid is Sri Lankan and his mum (Indian PR) works full time and now he speaks English so well.

so we must start sending to proper school liao huh.. no more playsch like julia gabriels liaozzz... U LEARN YOUR ABCs IF NOT NO MILK TONITE! kakaka

Kitsune,
WOah.. that is the power of peer influence. I have a neighbour who had a daughter same age as Xavier. She was super shy and my boy was outgoing - let anyone carry. Few mths later, after 1 mth into the childcare, she is so outgoing.. then my boy become opposite.. always hide behind my legs. Now he wont even want to let the neighbours touch him.

RaeAnne is tall ya... hehehe.. the little girl in front of RaeAnne back against wall is like "THESE TOYS ARE ALL MINE!!!!!" hehehe.. RaeAnne the new-comer needs to fulfill some initiation before she's allowed to play with her toys huh.. kekeke so cute, kids
happy.gif

Icy, your centre the standards may be higher since got phonics. My playgroup has only 2 teachers (1 Chinese and 1 Malay? (not very sure cos dark skin but never wear tudung). Currently, 10 kids but when I went the second time, another mummy was doing enrollment for her son to attend tomorrow so by the time RaeAnne joins, should be at least 12 kids in the class bah.

Windy, good observation, you are right. That gal is maybe 2 or 3. When I was there for the first visit, she's the same gal who was protecting her snacks and saying 'No! No! No!' when my greedy gal finished her 'xiao man tou' biscuits and started to look at cheh cheh's snacks. Think she's probably an only child bah. Cos the other older kids are definitely more friendly.

kitsune: raeanne v sociable leh, i tink she shld be able to adapt v fast! my girl v timid n afraid of strangers, brought her for a haircut downstairs n she was crying sadly liao! cannot imagine if i dump her to cc how!
congrats on ur second princess
happy.gif
hav u chose her name?
so many of u r expecting, my best friend who gav birth mar08 is also expecting a no.2 due in Nov,make me 'giam'to join ur club too.hehe

Aqua, no leh, my gal not sociable leh. Grumpus and Pixie saw my gal during our last playdate, she clings to my legs lor when we are outside. But good thing about her is that she is kaypoh when it comes to things she is familiar with (TOYS!!!) I also hope that by bringing her to the playgroup more often in July and saying hello to the teachers and kids and observe what they do, she won't be so shy/scared by the time it's really time for her to attend in Aug.

The second one maybe Raelynn. One of the Feb mummies suggested Raeka. Chinese name is a big headache, don't know what to choose cos count strokes like all the names also no good. Faint! :p

Yeah! Join the preggies club!
happy.gif
Maybe your baby can be valentine's day baby.
happy.gif

mmm side track a bit..

Hi-5 Surprise! Live Tour 2009 is coming in sep. Xavier loves Hi5 on TV.. wonder if he will appreciate this. Any hi5 fans too? Maybe 1 more yr then he appreciate better.

Kitsune,
I agree with aqua, your girl sure is sociable. Shouldnt have problem mixing and learning more than koalabear. Urgg.. i hope my son wont learn Koala bear.

aqua,
U can TTC now.. heehee.. seemed like many mummies also tempted to join in. 2 yrs diff is just nice.

aiyoh gap sale items additional 20% off, their star sign rompers so cute. only 4.99usd, after 20% off....*crazy*

2641067.jpg

cute or not? all star signs available leh

Pixie, CUTE! CUTE! You doing spree? Eh, don't know whether my second princess will be born in Nov or Dec leh, what star sign if late Nov to early Dec ah? Maybe can buy for both cheh cheh and mei mei.
happy.gif

RE:Haircut
I had to record his favourite songs inside my handphone, then while the person cut, he will play with the handphone, listen to his favourite songs and see his photos inside.

Then the hairdresser also play a part, must be those aunties who can chop chop cut quick quick. Once a young man tried and cut, perhaps a newbies.. slowly cut, dun dare to cut.. end up he cut his own fingers.

hey kam
my boy very scared haircut. 3 of us hold him down oso cannot. you can try to cut when he is asleep.
my boy gets very engrossed during tv time so i cut his hair when he is super engrossed with tv
hths
how is your #2 getting along? ok in tum tum?

Pixie,
Very nice! I just join a spree yesterday. I saw this design too. Wanted to buy for my friend who is delivery in OCt, but din buy cos I scare end up I buy the wrong sign cos delivery date cant be sure.

hahahaha........
i oso crazy liao. i only post 1 pic out of the 12 star signs leh.
i asking my sis to open spree.
offer only today leh....hey kitsune, they have for up to 3.5kg ones. size -0...next size is 0-3mths....i wanna buy for my premmie niece too!!

i have calculated, after conversion, shipping, only 7sgd MAX

Pixie, from my experiene, 'over head' rompers not so suitable for newborn cos their necks still very soft. Me and hubby had hard time wearing such rompers for RaeAnne until I had to buy button front rompers from BP. But if bigger eg. 3-6 months, should be ok.
happy.gif

hmm really? didnt think of that. thanks for telling me. i had no problem letting my boy wear rompers when he was nb.

cant post in restricted section, else i start spree liao. i need to junk the old rompers and get new ones. all cant wear

RE: Having #2

With what I have been/am going through now, yes, I agreed bigger age gap is better, ie, easier to handle. But I think not neccesary 2 years, but depend on each child - when they start the "terrible twos"! I think my son has just started over the weekend/early this week, it's really a big challenge to me, esp that I am pregnant now. But then, I reckon it's also a very important growing up phase for them, so I need to read more and have patience to guide him along.

kam, today straits times health section got an article on the terrible two's and why a child throw tantrums. quite insightful

Pixie, hehe, cos need 1 hand to support the head/neck but you need 2 hands to pull open the opening of the romper so I feel not convenient bah. Or maybe because RaeAnne's head is big so I have this problem.

Anyway, I told Dr Wong today that I want to keep no. 2's weight around 3kg so that she'll be easier to push. Told her my no. 1's head too big (34cm), she said that's borderline big but then big head is heredietary so even if I keep the baby's weight low, her tummy will be small but head will still be big. Then she looked at me and hubby and said between the two of you, I think your hubby is the one who contributed the gene. Faint lor! :p

dr wong is honest mahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh haha

my sis not opening spree, i join other mummies sprees in spree section bah. cant resist the star sign rompers. i just junked away lots of rompers yesterday night. all too small and tight liao

Pixie, ya lor, when she said, I glared at hubby who just grinned lor. ;P

Joining other people spree very a bit sian cos some of them charge very ex rate and the collection all in the west so I still need to pay for postage on top of overseas shipping. :p Actually should ask your sis for tips on who to run sprees esp how to minimise package and avoid gst, stuff like that. Since I'm SAHM, maybe next time can hold sprees. Wanted to do a spree on Motherlove more milk plus tablets (TMC selling $48.40 for just 60 capsules) whereas LV selling 120 tablets for only USD33.35, almost half the price lor. http://www.luckyvitamin.com/item/itemKey/51753 Don't know how many bottles can fit nicely into a box lor to save on shipping. But I can't be ordering so much for me alone mah.

tongtong,
thanks, will buy it tonite to try for my boys.

angelsky,
whether u want #3 is still too early to say since u gona deliver #2 soon. hee dun stress urself 1st
happy.gif

kitsune
if you got time, i can give u tutorials hurhur coz i ship in stuffs too. got many options for you to choose from, avoid gst, how much to place before cap, how long for each shipping company, how each merchant packs their stuff

mah fan to type here. next time we meet i tell u lar

Thanks, Pixie.
happy.gif
I got borderlinx account. Bought direct from Polo Ralph website before. That time, only ordered for me, hubby and Raeanne. 3-4 pieces to try out so bo chap the shipping. Now, cannot lar, cos SAHM mah. Recently, I join Crocs spree, must ask how they allocate shipping (weight or volume) cos heard that the Crocs islander always packed in a box or else I end up paying for very exp air from USA. :p

kitsune
crocs they packed very compact. i seen the boxes in my sis's place before. but dunno why your islander is special in a box? i not crocs fan haha.
i looked thru the box and 80% of the design i say yucks. i very anti crocs. tsk tsk. cannot like that ay

Pixie, I bought crocs for my hubby cos I can't tahan that he either wears flip flops or dress shoes (work shoes). He has nothing in between for smart casual or weekends. Nagged him to buy loafers so many times liao but he refuse to buy. Crocs Islander looks like loafers but essentially still flip flop material so he compromise lor. I read from another spree organiser that islander usually comes in a box. :p http://shop.crocs.com/pc-18-4-islander.aspx?outlet=true

then pay for more shipping lor haha
sorry ah...i open the link liao, saw the shoe and quickly close the browser muahahah...cant stand it

Pixie, I'm ok to pay for more shipping but if go by volume then I very lugi also cos I can't ask the merchant not to pack in box mah. Then maybe the sale price not so attractive anymore, you know what I mean.

hehe, it's ok. I used to hate Crocs shoes too. Called them ugly macdonald shoes cos they are so big and bulky and I have skinny legs. But I find slowly, the designs got better and better as in more streamlined designs. Also, it does have its advantages. I have sweaty feet so with Crocs, my feet won't smell cos it's airy. Also it's light and most importantly, it's non slip and waterproof so good for rainy days, going to the beach etc.
happy.gif

Pauline, raeanne got so much hair and her hairstyle looks very adult leh.

Kam, what terrible 2 terror that has been done by haore over the weekend?

pixie: ur sis got spree for organic cereal or not?
